Music disappearing when I connect iPhone to computer.

Hi, I've been having this problem lately and it's really really annoying.
Basically I'll connect my iPhone 4 (firmware 4.3.5) to the computer, I'll go into iTunes and I'll see that all my music is on there under 'My iPod' > Music. Yet when I remove the iPod, (safely I might add) and go into the iPod app it says 'No Content'
I have restored my iPhone several times now thinking it will fix it but alas, it doesn't.
Now I have no idea why it's doing this, and it does it every time. I plug my iPod back in and the music is still on there according to iTunes.
The only way I can work around this is if I delete every song from my iPhone and drag the songs back on again, obviously this isn't practical at all, it means if I ever want to add a new album I have to delete everything and then re-add all the songs I want, one by one (as I don't want all my songs on there), from my library.
I'd appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks.

Did you try recovery mode?  Hold down the home button as you connect it to iTunes.  iTunes should pop up a window that says "iTunes has detected a device in recovery mode" and give you the option to restore.

  • ITunes quits when I connect iPhone to computer

I just installed iTunes upgrade 8.0.2 on my iBook G4. iTunes opens when I click on it and and appears to operate okay. No crash. But when I connect my iPhone, iPhoto launches and iTunes unexpectedly quits. Every time. I cannot start iTunes, either, with the phone connected to the computer. This has never happened before, just started when I upgraded to 8.0.2. I have not upgraded my iPhone yet (because iTunes won't launch with it). My iPhone version is 2.1 Your help would be so appreciated!

I'm having the same problem. I've tried reinstalling itunes, repairing drive permissions, etc. No improvement. Our ipod touch with v2.1 works fine, it seems to be isolated to the v2.2 upgrade I perfromed on my iphone. I'm running itunes 8.0.2. Help?

  • Cant see photos when I connect iphone to computer

I want to hook my phone up to my laptop and look at photos select the ones I want to use just as I did previously.
Now I open up the pic folder on the phone and it opens up a host of folders with random numbers so I am unsure what is inside the folders till I open them one by one .
Also the latest pics that I can see looking through my phone dont appear on the computer.
    What is going on?

    Hi markfrommilang,
I understand that you are attempting to import photos into your computer from your iPhone and wish to be able to view them before importing. It seems like you are using one method for importing your photos, when there may be other methods, depending on your PC’s version of WIndows. Here is an article that should be able to help clarify:

I want to use an old 3 GS iPhone that is no longer in service as a phone now as just an iPod to play music. When I connect the phone to the computer with iTunes running, iTunes says it can't connect to the device because it didn't get a valid response from the device. How can I get the system to recognize the phone, and let me rename it as my iPod, instead of my phone?
As an aside, the current installed operating system on this old iPhone is 4.2.1, but that wasn't one of the selectable options in the operating system list dropdown below. Don't know if that makes any difference.

  • I want to be able to sync my iPhone 5 to my new iTunes library (new computer) and erase old music. When I connect my iPhone I have no option to "erase and sync."

So I have the iPhone 5. My old computer crashed so I ended up purchasing a new computer and re-installing and downloading all my old music and new music.
When I connect my iPhone to my new computer I can sync music but the old music still remains on my iPhone as well as the new music.
There's a lot on the phone that I don't want anymore but I can't seem to figure out how to erase it.
I don't want to restore the iPhone so I don't lose all my old messages and so forth.
I have all of the latest updates for the iPhone and well as iTunes.
If anyone has any answers to help that would be awesome!
    Thanks.

    Hey there,
It sounds like you are not getting the prompt to erase and sync your device. This indicates to me that Manual Syncing was enabled on the original iTunes Library, and becuase of that it is also now enabled on your new computer.
This is changable in the Summary tab of iTunes when you have your device selected, and this article will help you do that:
Managing content manually on iPhone, iPad, and iPod
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1535
Configure iPhone, iPad, or iPod for manual management
To manually manage the content, follow these instructions:
Connect the device to your computer.
    Open iTunes.
Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod. If your device isn't visible in the upper right corner of the screen, choose Library.
Click the Summary tab and select "Manually manage music and videos."
    Click Apply.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,

  • How do you set up your iphone so when you connect to another computer you have to enter a password before accessing the information?

    Hi
I just want to know how you can set up your iphone so when you connect to another computer you have to enter a password before accessing the information? My friend connected hers to my computer and it asked for a password so I know its a function.
I have a phone password enabled so its not that, any help would be great.

The Passcode Lock prevents syncing the iPhone with iTunes or accessing any data on the iPhone when the iPhone is connected to another computer different from the computer being used for syncing the iPhone.

What should i do if my Iphone just charge when i connect to the computer?

A lot of times, it is the cable. However, I had a problem similar to this a while ago and actually had to re-install itunes. See if your cable works with other devices, and then check itunes for needed updates. Hope this helps!
