Music disappears - recorded from concert

My daughter is a musician with a local community orchestra - and she has provided me with mp3's of the concerts. When I load them into itunes, they stay just a few days and then disappear. I also noticed that some ripped CD's also disappear. In both cases, I do have proper rights, so what is going on? I sent the files to family and they all experience the same issues with the concert music disappearing. I keep a copy on the desktop for easy re-load, but that seems silly.
Suggestions anyone?

There are a couple of recommended methods for using more than one iPod on a single computer. Method one is to have two Mac or Windows user accounts which by definition would give you two completely separate libraries. Method two is to set your preferences so that either one or both iPods get updated with only certain playlists within one library. Have a look at this article and see what you think and go for whichever you feel suits your needs best: How To Use Multiple iPods with One Computer
Another option when using a single library is to set one or both of the iPods to manual update: Managing content manually on iPod
If you choose the update option "automatically update selected playlists only" (called Sync Music - Selected Playlists in iTunes 7) this would allow you to create a playlist specifically for each iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used by the other iPod. Make your playlist a Smart playlist and limit the size to just below the advertised capacity of your Nano (around 3700MB for a 4GB or 1800MB for a 2GB). You can read more about playlists at these links:

  • Has apple ever responded to why music disappears from your Iphone

My Iphone 4 and my duaghters Iphone 4s have had the Music disappear randomly from the device, I see others had this issues as well. Has Apple ever said what is causing this issue.

There are two "knees in the curve" regarding Mac Pro:
    • 2008 Mac Pro 3,1 and later for Macs that can
    -  run 64-bit kernel and address larger that 4GB memory per Application.
    - be supported by future Mac OS such as what most expect to see from 10.8 Mountain Lion when released.
    • 2009 Mac Pro 4,1 and later Macs that:
    - feature Multi-Threading and memory improvements that almost double processor performance over previous models at the same clock speed and number of processors.

  • How do you stop synched iTunes music disappearing from my iPhone 5?

I have about 35G of music on my iTunes on my iMac, a good % of it having been purchased on ITunes.  The music sync setting for my iPhone 5 is automatic / everything.
For the past couple of months, I've been noticing music disappearing from my iPhone when it's offline (eg on the plane, when I listen to my music on my iPhone the most).  Such music would come back as "in the cloud" when I regain wifi / data access.  I would then download them onto my iPhone again.  And then they would disappear again!  How can I stop such annoying behavior?  Does switching music sync to manual help?  Thank you.

    Hello claire267
In the Messages app, in the drop down menu go to Messages > Preferences. Once there click the Accounts tab and then remove the iMessage account and that will stop all messages associate with your phone number from showing up on your computer.

  • How can I change the media info from Concert Film to Music Video in ITunes 11.01.12

I purchased a concert film a while back from the ITunes store, and in previous versions of ITunes, I had been able to change the media info from concert film to music video so I could watch it in my library (and any devices) without losing any of my library when I synced my devices (could only have either music, movies or tv shows on device - stupid I know), now with the new version, that option is greyed out, so I can't change anything, is there any way around it?
    Thanks so much!

When you say "remove his account", do you mean remove his Apple ID as well as all his stuff (music, movies, and whatever else is housed in iTunes)?  If so, delete all his stuff (music, etc.), have him deauthorize the computer (Store > Deauthorize This Computer), and sign out of his account (Store > Sign Out) and then sign in to yours.
If all you want to do is remove his Apple ID and not fuss with his stuff, then things get more complicated, because you do not own his stuff.

  • 4.3 upgrade on 3GS, Music disappears from phone once you download a Podcast

Anyone having the same problem? Since I've upgraded to 4.3, if I download a podcast on my phone via wifi, all my music disappears and so do my podcasts. They are still on the phone but it says "there is no music, download from iTunes"
Music is easily restored if I connect the phone with my mac and play a song from my phone through iTunes.
Anyone know how to "cure" this?

The basics from the manual are reset, restart, restore.
Have you tried any of these?

  • Disappearring music and videos from my iPad

Every since I purchased and downloaded the entire Beattle catalog several days ago, my iPad iTunes has acted up.  Music and videos disappeared from my iPad only to reappear when resyncing.  After my last resync i began  a businss trip without my MBP that I use for syncing. .  As before, my music disappeared and reappeared several times, sometimes partially, sometimes not.  In between I would redownload my music only to have the music reappear with multiple copies.
Now a tv show I purchased from iTunes store several weeks ago and  was watching last night has disappeared.
Any idea what's happening and what the solution is?
And by the way how can you delete music that's in the download queue in tunes on the iPad. Not pause but delete.
    Thanks.

You need to copy everything from the old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer to the new one.
The music sync is one way -computer to ipad.  The exception is itunes purchases.  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases

  • IPhone glitch: Music disappears from iPhone...

For reasons unknown to myself, music has disappeared from my iPhone. I set up iTunes to look for an external hard drive for my music. So, whenever I want to play my music through iTunes, I plugged in my external HD first, and then launched iTunes. This has worked fine for a long time. Then one day, I noticed an iTunes folder on my MacBook Pro's local hard drive that contained ALL of my music. The whole point of my putting my music on an ext HD was to free up my laptop hard drive. Simple enough, yes? Common choice? Yes.
I recently changed my preferences in iTunes to NOT copy music from my iTunes Library after noticing that my entire music collection was being copied to my MacBook Pro's hard drive. Since then I've noticed music disappearing from my iPhone. Is this because of my preference change? Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

My mistake. I think it's a problem with iTunes and not the iPhone. Music that I had added to my iTunes library has mysteriously disappeared.

  • Music disappearing from playlists after sync with itunes?

So I have a bunch of songs that I ripped from CDs or got the MP3 files from friends. I add some of them to a playlist, that's fine. But when I purchase a few songs from iTunes on my phone and add them to the playlist, they appear there temporarily. The problem happens when I sync my phone with iTunes, then all of my purchased music disappears from the playlist. It's still on my phone, but not in the playlist. Why does it do this, and how do I fix it? This is really discouraging me from using iTunes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Which Mac is best for music purposes?  I want to mix music recorded from MIDI and live sound, and also want to use Sibelius to play music in.  I'm looking at MacBook Pros; any tips?  13" or 15"?

Which Mac is best for music purposes?  I want to mix music recorded from MIDI and live sound, and also want to use Sibelius to play music in.  I'm looking at MacBook Pros; any tips?  13" or 15"?

I would think a 15" with the i7 CPU. You can get a 13" with the i7 CPU but the 15" has a dedicated graphic chip along with the intergrated one.
You will also need to upgrade the hard drive to a faster 7200RPM model instead of the standard 5400RPM model that comes with all MBPs. The Sibelius website recommends the 7200RPM or a SSD. You will also be better off installing 8GBs of RAM.
Both of those upgrades can be made after you buy a MBP for much less then Apple charges for the same upgrades and you get to keep the original RAM and hard drive.

  • I recorded a Concert video on my D3200 and now I can not play it back on any of my apple devices it states 'OSS status error - 101' what does it mean and how can I correct it and watch my videos on my Mac?  Julie from LEEDS

How do I watch my imovies on my IMAC and apple TV that i have recorded from my NIKON D3200 .
message displayed as 'OSS Status error - 101' .... HELP !

    Hi Julie,
I'm not sure I can help with the "OSSstatus error - 101", but just checked the specs for your Nikon D3200 (nice camera). Certain frame rates with Full HD video can pose problems for iMovie.
Among other settings, I noticed that the Nikon can record 1920 x 1080 50p (or 60p for NTSC countries). That's 50 progressive frames per second. iMovie has trouble with that Full HD frame rate, but can handle 1920 x 1080 50i - that's 50 interlaced fields per second, being 25 frames per second (interlaced video has 2 fields per frame).
So, it's possible that you recorded at 50p, hence the problem you are seeing. The best solution for you is to record 1920 x 1080 25p (25 progressive frames per second). That will work fine in iMovie and give excellent results. iMovie works best with progressive video.
It's not clear from your question whether you've already imported clips to iMovie, or whether you are just having problems when trying to play back or export the clips from iMovie. In offering advice here, I'm assuming that you are having trouble importing to iMovie.
If in fact the problem is as I've outlined (format/frame rate issue), there is a "fix" that will enable you to import the footage to iMovie. But it is fairly complicated. Here's a link to an excellent article by Ian Odgers that will take you through the steps involved:

  • Re: Way to burn a recording from Nomad to a

Hello to all, okay get ready this might sound confusing and is long but hopefully someone can help me out. I have a Nomad Jukebox 3 and I take it to concerts which permit taping of the show and so I record the show via the optical input. With Creative Media Source I am able to bring the recording into PC Music Library. Okay so that's cool.
My problem is how do I take that recording from the PC Music Library and bring it to say my C Dri've to the folder My Music in My Computer? You see when I try to retrieve the Line Recording from PC Music Library, its sounds confusing, and I don't know if this is the case, but I when it saves in PC Music Library that is the music library for media players. Can you take that music and move it into a diff. folder in a diff. location for say on my C Dri've? Okay, so with that said basically I'd like to know how I can burn the recording from my Nomad Jukebox 3 onto a CD... I know there is a way how, it's just how to do it... Thank you, and sorry if my wording and explanation sounds confusing...

In MediaSource's PC Music Library, right click on the track and select Properties. You should be able to see the location of the file in your hard disk. By default, it should be under "C:\Documents and Settings\YourName\My Documents\My Music\".
To burn the file to a CD, try to see whether your version of MediaSource has the CD burning plugin. To check that, click the double arrow button at the bottom right corner of MediaSource Organizer to open up a right panel. At the top of the right panel, there is a dropdown arrow that you can click. Check whether there is Burn CD item there. You can choose to burn into a MP3 CD or an audio CD.

  • IPod Apps no longer work, Music disappears, Fix?

QUESTION : How to fix permanently the “iPod Touch Breakdown“?
(seems identical to the iPhone “Breakdown“)
Since I upgraded to 2.0.2, running iTunes 7.7.1 (11) on a MacBook Pro G4, I keep having big trouble with Apps, Music and Films.
Here is what I call the “iPod Touch Breakdown“:
    - Apps won’t start : the iPod would go back to the home screen after a few seconds.
    - Music and Films disappear (My music consists essentially of personnal CDs).
    - (for me Photos are still there)
    - all original Apple Apps work OK
This is a known problem, also occuring on the iPhone with many posts on the iPhone discussions forum (see “iPhone“/“Installing and Using iPhone Applications“/“iPhone Applications no longer work“. At the time I write this messge, this question has been viewed 16,080 times ( ) (*) and there have been 319 replies: probably a sad record for a single question, which means that THERE REALLY IS A BASIC PROBLEM.
My iPod is a 8Gb purchased while staying in Pasadena, almost a year ago. I was extremely happy to use it more and more like a PDA (updates 2.0.1 and 2.0.2).
There have been some fixes proposed on the discussions forum (iPhone) that I tried and I have tried myself a couple more. NONE of them could fix the problem permanently: all fixes have been working for a day or two, no more. Untill you download an App (even an update) and you get the “Breakdown“ again.
As other users, I have noted a slowdown in anything I am doing (e.g. typing text) just before the Apps stop working and the music disappears. (see for instance Truth42 on iPhone Forum (Applications no longer work), Posted: Aug 25, 2008 10:57 AM)
Fixes: typically you get to disinstall and then reinstall all your Apps. Each time, you lose all your Apps parameters (bad for data bases and notes).
    Two ways:
see iPhone forum: Aveonz Posted: Aug 24, 2008 3:16 AM :
    1- sync using iTunes
2- in iTunes/Store: deauthorize your account
    3- sync
    4- authorize
5- sync (will re-load your Apps)
6- sync (to backup you new configuation)
(the whole process may take several hours; I have also done a reboot between 3 and 4)
(ii) proposed by various people :
    1- deselect all applications
    2- sync
3- disconnect your iPod and reboot it (pressing both buttons simultaneously for several seconds – see Apple site) (you keep you parameters, WiFi, etc)
4- select the Apps you want back
5- sync (will re-load your Apps)
6- sync (to backup you new configuation)
In the end you can use the Apps you have reloaded, but just for a few days (or hours)… until you cannot resist downloading a new App, or simply just download an App update. It won’t breakdown instantly after you do that, but it will very soon.
I certainly would take any procedure to fix this definitely. However, the best choice is probably to use as few third party Apps as possible (none is better) and wait for 2.1. Hopefully Apple is working on this, and we’ll get a definite fix very soon. This actually makes a very bad press for the iPod Touch and iPhone.
    Sadly,
because I think iPod Touch and iPhone are beautiful machines –but for how long? Competition is tough…
    Cheers
(*) about this number 16,080, obviously not all of the viewers experienced the “Breakdown“, but most were just curious to know. Still, the good question is to know how many of us, using the iPhone and iPod Touch experience this bug (virus?) and why some have it and not others (and in which proportion?).

Same issue here since updating to 2.0.2; Is there a way to back I wonder?
So I plugged back in my iPod touch and,...
    0. make a note of all your music, movies, photos, apps selections to restore
    1. cancel connect attempt to iTunes store (little 'x' in iTunes toolbar)
    2. cancel attempts to sync or backup (little 'x' in iTunes toolbar)
    3. clicked <OPTION>[Restore] once selecting my iPod touch device
    4. navigate to <home>/Library/iTunes/iPod Software Udpates/
    5. pick the prior update: iPod1,12.0.1_5B108Restore
    6. then waited through iPod window status displays
    'Preparing iPod software for restore...'
    'Restoring iPod software...'
    'Verifying iPod Software...'
    7. OK the 'Your iPod has been restored to factory settings,...'
    8. Ssync process did NOT automatically being so I unplugged & plugged it
(I did verify that 2.0.1 was loaded seeing the App Store)
    9. Pick 'Set up as a new iPod'; don't pick an earlier backup point
(mostly 'cause I couldn't be sure which was a good failsafe).
    10. iTunes then begin setup of my [ahem] new iPod.
STOP IT; it'll try and do restore everything. Then navigate the tabs for
your iPod and re-select those things you want (music, photos, movies, apps, etc)
So like any computer you need to keep proper backups.
The apple s/w system updater appears to do just that automatically, thanks! Of course it would've been nice to have had the 2.0.2 version tested a bit more before its release.
IMHO the host (mac) should have kept my prefs for the iPod rather than my resorting to handwritten notes but at least I'm back to normal. Consider when replacing an iPod how you'd want the replacement to be a mirror of its predecessor.
Oh, skip future requests to update to 2.0.2 until Apple can get his sorted out.
