Music doesn't play in my iPhoto Slideshows on my new MacBook Pro

I have a new MacBook Pro.  My photos, albums, slideshows, etc. transferred fine.  However, when I play my slideshows, one of which I need to edit before Christmas, the music will not play.  The music is still there and I have the volume turned all of the way up, but nothing comes out of the speakers.  I've looked for settings that may be muting it, but cannot find any.  I have severla of my slideshows in iTunes and the music plays just fine.  It was also fine on my prior MacBookPro.  I cannot figure out why I can't hear the music in my slideshows in iPhoto on my new MacBook Pro.

Try open iTunes and doing File -> Library  -> Organize Library...

  • Can I transfer music and photos from my 17" PowerBook G4 to a new MacBook Pro?

I am planning to buy a new MacBook Pro in the next couple of weeks. Can I have the "Genius" at the Apple Store transfer my music and pictures from my current PowerBook to the new computer? My current computer is a 17" PowerBook G4, running OS X 10.5.8. Because of the age of my computer and software limitations I have been unable to use iCloud for anything besides my calendar and contacts.

Yes, flash drive would work fine.
If all you care about is music and photos, as you indicated earlier, then you simply need to copy the entire contents of your Music and Pictures folders from the old computer into the Music and Pictures folders on the new computer. A flash drive will work fine as long as it is big enough. If you want to also move over personal files, typically those are in your Documents folder and possibly your Desktop, so don't forgot about those.
If you want to migrate over all your emails, applications, internet and router settings, web browser favorites, bookmarks, preferences, user names and accounts, etc., then you might consider doing the full migration using Setup Assistant upon the very first boot up. Apple will do this for you, for a fee, as will almost any Apple-authorized computer store (also for a fee, but probably for a bit less than Apple would charge). You can actually do this manually, using the external drive or flash drive, and I have done that myself. But you need to know where the files are to do that properly. The Setup Assistant (which is run upon the very first boot up of the new computer) or Migration Assistant (which is run after you have booted into your new computer at least once) make it pretty easy -- the main thing you need to do is hook the computers up with a firewire cable and follow Apple's instructions; or if that is not possible, the next best thing is to make a complete backup of your old computer onto an external drive using Time Machine (or a cloning program like SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner) and migrate from the backup.

  • Playing Call of Duty II on my new MacBook Pro... Not Good!

    Hey
Just bought a brand new MacBook Pro with ALL the trimmings - and Call of Duty II makes my mac run like I was playing on a Commodor 64.
Does anybody had the same experience - and have you found patches or updates that fixes this problem?
    Thanks!

Well, I can offer some things that helped me out *a lot*.
First, I also suffered interminably from my MacBook Pro's malaise while doing 3D gaming-- wondering why I was running games so poorly on a piece of iron that was relatively recent. So, here are the solutions I tried in order.
    1) Increased my 2GB of RAM to 3GB of RAM via a Crucial.com RAM purchase. Cost me $100 bucks. I think it was worth it for my gaming and other needs. I have to say that this change alone I did before I ran the Call of Duty 2 demo. I own Crysis and found that the expanded RAM only improved my gaming slightly (~30%). With Crysis and 3GB of RAM, I still had chunky gameplay and I found that 1024x768 was largely unplayable when there was a lot of action on the screen.
    2) I made sure that both Bootcamp and Windows XP had all of the latest software updates. Run "Automatic Update" from XP (I'm assuming you're running XP) and then use Apple's "Software Update" mechanism (search for it, if you can't find it) that Apple has built into Windows in order to update Apple's software on the Bootcamp side of the house, too.
    3) I downloaded the "Mobility Modder" application (you can get it at driverheaven.net for free) that runs under XP and Vista. Someone else on the forums suggested it, and I also recommend it. It let me tweak the settings of my ATI Radeon card (check to see if your brand and model of card is supported) and then download the latest drivers for my MacBook Pro. (Personally, I have an ATI Radeon X1600 card in my MBP.) The app is free. Also, when you download the new ATI drivers you get this "free" application called EarthSim. It's very cool and when I plugged my MacBook into my HDTV using a DVI-->HDMI cable, it was beautiful seeing the earth on the screen. Absolutely gorgeous!
    4) Finally, ensure you download an app like WinClone and backup your Windows partition before you start tweaking stuff (or after, if you're feeling adventurous). I find that it took me eons to get all my software working correctly in XP and it prevents a major re-installation of stuff should you change a setting on something that suddenly hoses something.
    5) Lastly, there are those pesky graphics settings in Call of Duty 2. Do not let the app make the "recommended graphics suggestions" for you! It'll give you horrible eye-candy. I haven't copied down my settings (to share with you), but I can tell you that I changed it to 1024x768. Turned on 2x anti-aliasing. SyncEveryFrame was set to OFF. I also turned OFF the other setting underneath SyncEveryFrame. Most other stuff I turned on or set to at least NORMAL. Naturally, YMMV.
I manually changed almost all of the settings to try to take advantage of the "new" horsepower my MacBook Pro was packing with the Mobility Modder app having put me in fighting shape.
    Good luck!

  • HT4796 recently purchaced a macbook pro and cannot transfer music, contacts, notes etc. from my iphone 4 onto my new macbook pro!! please help

Im a ex windows vista user, who evently became fed up and converted to a macbook pro. i just purchesed the macbook pro yesterday and have been trying to transfer all my music, contacts, notes, apps, etc. from my iphone 4 onto my new macbook pro. nothing seem to be working without it trying to erase all my info off of my iphone 4. I didnt think this would be a issue where they are both apple devices, but im now starting to regret the decision to purchace this macbook pro. please help me so i dont loose all my info trying to sync both devices. thanks for you help and advice

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You can only sync the iPhone with one Mac or PC, so your Mac is asking you to erase the device because you synced it with another Mac or PC. To avoid this, I recommend you to copy the "iTunes" folder of your old Mac or PC (in Music folder) to the Music folder of your Mac, so you'll have the same data on your Mac as the data you had on the PC.
To transfer contacts, notes, etc., I recommend iCloud > http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/

  • HT5037 Difficulty moving old iPhoto library from 2008 (not sure which version of iPhoto it is) to new macbook pro running OSX Mavericks.

I tried downloading AND RUNNING the upgrader and I'm stuck in an infinite loop.  After running the upgrader from the utilities folder, it looks like things are working.  Then a window pops up asking me to launch iphoto to complete the upgrade.  After launching iphoto, iphoto goes back to the original error message that I need to download the upgrader.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the upgrader multiple times to no avail.  I've also tried dragging my iphoto library from the external hard drive it is housed on to many different areas before trying to launch the upgrader, none of them worked.  The external hard drive format is Mac OS Extended (Journaled). I also tried dragging the iphoto library folder in the pictures file onto my new Macbook right next to my new iphoto library folder.  This allowed me to open up iphoto (Yay!) but of course, none of the photos from my old iphoto library were in their, even when the old library was selected.
I've read what seems like hundreds of posts on this same issue, but can't seem to find a solution that works for me.  I want to simply transfer my iphoto library from an external hard drive (my old macbook just crashed, so this is the only option) to my new macbook, keeping the albums, slideshows, and organization intact.
I would appreciate any help or feedback.  Thank you in advance for reading this!

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Transfer iTunes play count data from old laptop to new Macbook Pro

I have just purchased a macbook pro. Previously I had a Dell laptop running Windows 7. I had stored all my music on an external harddrive, I have successfully transferred my music to my new iTunes library. However, all the songs have no plays, is there any way I can transfer this data to my new macbook?
I also need to transfer iPad 4, iPod Classic and iPhone backups to the mac.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Also I would like to transfer all the data such as the start and end times for each song.

  • How do I import my old iPhoto library to my new macbook Pro?

I have a new laptop pro and I don't want all my files similar to my old laptops so I didn't use the migration assistant. All I want is iPhoto to be the same on my new laptop as it is on my old laptop.
Is there a way to do this? Can I just grab the iPhoto library folder located in user/pictures/iPhoto Library and drag over to the new mac to copywrite it? or will that still not preserve the faces, places, and event's database?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Caleb

I have a related situation. I recently purchased a new Macbook and like the originator of this post, did not use Migration Assistant to set it up. Also like the originator, I want my iPhoto library to move to my Macbook intact. My old computer is an iMac G4 running OS X 10.4.11. That computer has iPhoto 2.0.1. I dragged my iPhoto Library on to an iPod in disk mode and dragged it from that device onto my new Macbook which is running Snow Leopard and iPhoto '09. I started iPhoto on the Macbook and pointed it to the old iPhoto Library. It started up fine, updated the Library and went through its Faces recognition routine. Super, except that my old machine tells me that my Library holds 4818 images and iPhoto on my new machine counts just 3415 images.
Can someone help me understand the discrepancy and how to rectify? Thank you.

  • I lost my music when I tried to authorize my iPod for my new MacBook Pro.  Is there any way to get it back?

I was able to get a MacBook Pro for college this year and I tried to transfer my music from my iPod Nano to my laptop.  Everything was going smoothy until I had to autherize my laptop for the music.  To do this I had to enter my Apple ID and password.  I must have typed it in wrng because it asked me if I had forgotten my password.  I hit the cancel button thinking I could just try again without having to go through the hassle of making a new password but instead al my music disappeared!
Is there any way to get my music back?
    Thank you, MHettich

Copy everything from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

I just got a new 15 inch MacBook Pro for my birthday, and I want to transfer my music from my iPhone 4 to my iTunes on my new MacBook Pro. He probably bought the music directly on his iPhone. If thats the case, just set up your account and phone on that computer then transfer your purchases over to that computer. If you bought from a separate computer, you'll need to transfer from that computer to the new one, like a brody said above.

  • Migrated iPhoto content to new MacBook Pro,  but can't get '11

    Hi there,
I migrated my iPhoto content from my old laptop to my new one, the new one has OSX 10.6.7, but somehow I seem to have migrated iPhoto v8.1.2 also. iPhoto '11 should be part of 10.6.7, right? iPhoto '11 cannot be found on my new computer, did one cancel the other?
My hubby did exactly the same thing, migrated his old iPhoto content to his new MacBook Pro and he has iPhoto '11. I have tried to download it but it seems that it's too big to download, it requires a physical disc. My computer came with the software already loaded.
If anyone can give me any pointers on how to fix this I'd be so grateful.
    Thanks,

How did you migrate the iPhoto content?
As to iPhoto version - iPhoto does not come with any OS - it comes on new computers and can be purchased as part of iLife or in the App store
reinstall iPhoto - go to your receipts folder ("Your hard drive" ==> library ==> receipts) and remove any iPhoto receipts and reinstall from the restore disks that came with your computer - do a custom install of bundled software only
