Same problem here, since upgrading to IOS-5. Whenever I try to shuffle or play a genius mix (or even simply play an album) the iPod will skip the first one or two songs, play one song and then 'crash'. I say 'crash' because it selects the next song and then nothing happens - the player isn't paused, and it appears to think it's playing, but the time bar doesn't change and no sounds come out. Occasionally I've noticed the album artwork is wrong too.
Rebooting does NOT work - I've tried it a number of times.
Is this just an iPod problem?? If so, I would be surprised if Apple do anything quickly about it - they're more worried about iPhone problems I expect, and we (iPod users) are just the poor relations... C'mon Apple - SORT IT OUT!!!!

This problem started last year when ios 8 was released. I think apple is trying to force users to buy music on iTunes store and that's why it's impossible to sync other music and also that's the reason why they haven't solved this serious problem. LTR - Error occurred when selecting from database

Hi,
We created couple of configurations using LTRC in our SLT systems. When i try to check these in transaction LTR, they are not displayed, just getting the error - Error occurred when selecting from database (Attached screenshot). All the required SICF for SLT has already been activated. Any suggestions how to fix this issue?

So, here is an update to my original question, in case anyone else has this issue. I spoke with a senior adviser at apple, who had me use the "devmgmt.msc" command in the search line of Windows 7; after expanding the USB controllers menu, she had me uninstall/delete the "apple mobile device driver" and then open "control panel" and "uninstall programs." Once the menu of programs was open, she had me highlight the program "apple mobile device controller", then repair it, and restart the computer. This fixed the issue and the iPod synced.
However, just one day ago, when I plugged in both the iPod, then the iPad (not at the same time), I get the message that "this library has already been synced to another iPod/iPad or other IOS device." It then asked if I wanted to set up as a new device or from restore of previous. That is wher I am right now; I am trying to get the same apple adviser again to discuss the case number. In my opinion, one should ALWAYS do a clean install if at all possible, especially when jumping a version or two. Some will say that an upgrade is all that is needed, and that's fine for some. Me - I'm a clean freak. I like to have my machines running as efficiently as possible with no clutter. Perhaps it's just a left-over practice from my Windows PC days. OS X is much more friendly than Windows when it comes to cluttering up drives, but it still happens on a much smaller scale.
This is what I've been doing lately (and I say "lately" as "frequent", since Apple seems to want to release a new OS every few months it seems now). Copy the entire contents of your current drive to an external drive and ensure you can boot from it and that everything is there. Once you do that, wipe your primary HDD clean and do a fresh install of your new OS. Import/reinstall everything from your previous drive onto the new OS. While you are conditioning to the new drive and remembering things that you forgot about (you will forget something no matter how hard you try) you still have the old OS to boot to or retrieve data from.
I use Carbon Copy Cloner for my drive clones. It's free, it's easy, and it works seamlessly.

You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

How exactly are you doing this?
When I cut out a part of an audio region, then drag the remaining parts together, so they are touching, the track will skip the cut out section when playing the file. Also, if I select the remaining parts of the region and use the command "Edit > join regions". This will create a new audio file with the cut out part deleted.

It is syncing through everything and then failing to close out. If I disconnect then the libraries are all there although I have lost a movie and a few tracks downloaded as a result of this.

Signed, cached JNLP applet doesn't start when updating from 1.6 to 1.7

Hi, yesterdays forced upgrade from Java6 to Java7 uncovered a nasty surprise for us:
We're running a game client through JNLP embedded in the browser using signed all-permission jars. The certificate is definitely valid and hasn't timed out.
When upgrading from 1.6 to 1.7 the applet won't start because of a supossed permission violation for the cached jars. Web start thinks that the jars in the cache are not signed (although they are).
Deleting the applet cache through the control panel, or deploying a new version of the applet both solves the problem as then the cached version will be overwritten with a newly downloaded version, and everything works fine from then on until switching back to 1.6 again.
Are 1.6 vs. 1.7 cached, signed jars not compatible? Something to do with pre-validation? Wouldn't it be a good idea to completely invalidate the applet cache in the JRE installer? Is this a bug on the JRE side, or are we somehow not using JNLP the right way (we're running the game for 2 years now, and a couple of million players have played the game since then on JRE6, so I assume we're using JNLP basically the right way).
Also, early JRE7 preview versions didn't seem to have this problem, I remember testing JRE7 intensively a few months back without any problems, however I'm not sure whether the cache remained intact when installing the preview JRE7 runtime.
Here are the console traces, please excuse the German, hopefully it's still clear what happens.

Wouldn't it be a good idea to completely invalidate the applet cache in the JRE installer?Yes, I guess it should be an option for user of the app on first start after upgrade, not for the JRE installer. There are many large applications that users would want to avoid re-download.
From the log, there is some hidden exception during first launch. The best way to proceed is to file a bug, including some guest/debugging access to the game.

ITunes shared user vanishes when selected from left hand list

When I bring up iTunes and I get the other computers on the network and I select the "Music Server" we have (eMac G4) it just goes away. If I try from the server side to select my MBP it works just fine. All sharing is the same on all 3 of our macs. I have wireless thru airport "n" on 2 of the bases. What I don't understand is why it works server to laptop/iMac but not the other way around? Am I facing a conflict with the two bases? The main box is the newest model the other is the first giga bit model (053). I did have the eMac on hanging off the newest Airport Extreme and it worked fine. When I add the other older Extreme and hung the eMac off (the same as first iteration) I started this problem...I'm really confused?!?!?!?!?! ANY HELP?????

Restart of the eMac cleared it up. Was having problems with the two Airport Extremes working correctly. That was an amperage problem with my circuit protector - a whole nother story!
