Music downloads but says processing file

We have down loaded hundreds of songs from i-tunes with no issues on the same PC. For the past 2 months only about 20% of the music will complete the download?? The song downloads just fine but then it stats processing file and it stays there indefinitly??? We get charged for the song but we do not get the song. I have done the report a problem many, many time and all the i-tunes rep e-mail us is we do not give refunds but we will give you a free credit. I have asked them over and over for some help on fixing this issue but I get nothing but a free credit that will not work. I have never asked for a refund all I would like is to be able to download music from i-tunes...Any ideas??

Have you tried temporarily disabling any security software you're running, to see if it still happens?
Also, do you use V CAST from Verizon? It has caused conflicts with itunes processing files.

I am using itunes 10.5. Update didnt work on last software but restore did work. Help

After two days of attempts, Google & Apple searches, one Apple post stated to turn off all firewalls and virus software and keep trying since there were 6 gazillion people trying to update.  I have Windows 7 & Kaspersky and had to diable every single safety feature in Kaspersky as well as Firewalls and it finally allowed the download and update attempt.
Glancing at the forum, there appears to be numerous other problems with missing pictures, text problems etc after the IOS5 download but fortuneately, everything seems ok so far.  Good luck, it is frustrating!  Hattie47

  • Downloads stop at processing file with no error

Have latest update of system and itunes, and i'm trying to download some new songs and they all stop at processing file. i can't seem to buy or download more than one at a time, and i'm not getting an error sign or anything. if i quit itunes and reboot it, the song will have downloaded completely, but as soon as i try to buy and download another song, the same thing happens. Suggestions?

    YEP.
If you google this issue, you'll see people have been struggling with this for years.
I just bought an album from iTunes today and have the same problem.
    Screenshot: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/51836583/Screenshots/l4.png
Notice how it keeps redownloading the tracks every time I reboot iTunes.
And as I was typing this, one of the files actually completed processing: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/51836583/Screenshots/l5.png
I guess the joke is on us for buying music from iTunes.

  • All downloads freeze at "processing file"

After a download from the iTunes store appears to complete, iTunes shows "processing file" and then it just sits there forever. I can move about within iTunes, but I cannot cancel/pause the download, and I cannot quit iTunes without force-quitting. This happens regardless of whether I am trying to download a new purchase or updating an existing app. AND it is happening on *both* Mac computers that are linked to my iTunes account, so it is not specific to the computer connected to the store. I tried quitting iTunes, deleting all the files from Music->iTunes->Mobile Applications->Downloads and Music->iTunes->iTunes Music->Downloads, and restarting iTunes. I also tried logging out and back in to iTunes. Those didn't help. I am able to successfully download apps directly to my iPhone through the iTunes mobile app. But I am completely locked out of new purchases or updating apps on both of my computers because of this issue.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    **Short Term Solution**
I am having the same problem and it seemed that certain Apps were causing "processing file" freeze.  I have my iTunes set to download apps simultaneously.  Some of the Apps would process but after three Apps "froze", I would close down my iTunes
    for Windows users:
    -right-click on Task bar
    -click on "Start Task Manager"
    -highlight iTunes
    -click "End Process"
I would start iTunes up again and click update apps again and start the process all over again until three Apps were "frozen."
I finally just did one at a time until I got three Apps "frozen" and then would restart iTunes (see above).  Eventually, I was able to download all the apps.
For some reason, one particular App - Duolingo - kept "freezing" every time.  It wasn't until it was the last one that I was able to finally download.
Either way, it is a solution - albeit a very cumbersome one.

  • Download stuck on "processing file" then when iTunes restarted, no record

I have a couple albums downloading in my iTunes. A song will download fine but will get stuck on "processing file"
    Ex. 6.1MB of 6.1MB - processing file
No other songs can start downloading. Thought it was iTunes freezing so I shut it down and restarted it. Now there is no history at all of purchasing the song or downloading it in any of the iTunes tabs.
Thank you for ANY help anyone might have!!! - Meg

the same thing happens to me, only after about 10 minutes my computer restarts. i just recently purchased an iPod nano and this is making me want to go back to my zune which I dont like half as much

  • When I try to install abode - it will download but says i have to close firefox before it will install. also i try to open a word document from a website and it will not open - it will only download

i install abode - it will download but not install and indicates i have to close firefox before it will download. Also, I try to open a word document from a website - it will download but not open.

You need to close Firefox to install many plugins, including those from Adobe.
As for the Word downloads, see the changing downloads action section of this link - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+file+types

  • Purchases downloaded but not processed

I purchased a mini-album from the iTunes store containing 4 songs and a video. The video and one song downloaded successfully, but the other three songs have a problem. The status showed they were successfully downloaded (xMB of xMB downloaded) but they got stuck 'processing'. After several hours, I closed iTunes and reopened. The songs were missing. I contacted iTunes, and they give me great instructions for downloading problems-- however the songs already show as downloaded so 'all purchases have been downloaded for this account'. The songs do not show in my 'purchased' section, nor in my library. I do not see them in my iTunes folder in My Documents. Are they somewhere in limbo waiting to be processed, and if so how do I initiate that?

Here's the answer to this in case anyone at apple is paying attention...you must connect to Wi-fi to download songs over 10 MB or this will happen. Once connected to wifi, you have the opportunity to re-download on your own, and it moves without issue. We need a support article and a forums sweep on this issue!

  • Most of the songs I have downloaded now say the file cannot be found

No I never touch assuming ITunes protects them !
I'm not sure what you mean by that.
If you haven't done any of the things that I previously suggested, and you don't use something like Windows Media Player (which may rename songs), then the only other explanation is that you have disconnected the drive where the files are stored. So, are the songs on an external hard drive or memory stick? Have you recently added the music to your iTunes library and now that same music is missing?
