Music duration help
With soundtrack pro, if I add one of the music beds lets say with multiple channels and the clip is only 1 min long can I make it 5 mins long to fit my program or do I have to edit it manualy? It looks like a bespoke file extension rahter than a mp3. With smart sound on avid I can drag a smart sound clip any length I like and it makes it that long, is this somthing I can do or similar in sound track pro?

Sure you can timestretch a music clip from 1 minute long to 5 minutes, but it's gonna sound pretty weird when you finish. Anything over 10% usually does sound unnatural.
I recommend you edit it manually. Even then 1 minute to 5 minutes is going to sound pretty repetitive.

Have you looked in the Music App on your iPhone? On the iPhone music is played by the Music App not iTunes.

Downloaded iBooks on my Macbook Pro but when I tried to sync it on my iPhone, this appeared: "Are you sure you want to sync books? All existing songs, movies and TV shows on the iPhone “My iPhone” will be removed". Love the iBooks as well as music. I really don't want to loose my music. HELP!!!
From the message you are receiving, it sounds like you either, 1) haven't synced your iPhone with that computer before, 2) are using two different iTunes accounts, or 3) both. If you have purchased music or movies through your iPhone with a certain iTunes account and purchased books through iBooks on your MacBook through a different iTunes account then there is no having both on the phone.
Apple doesn't allow content from two different accounts on a device at the same time. Also if two "libraries" have been created, one on the iPhone and one on the Macbook then syncing will erase data that is not associated with that particular library.
If you are using the same iTunes account for both, then you should be able to redownload any purchased items (music, books, etc.) from iCloud, assuming you have set that up.

I had to install iTunes on a new computer when my previous computer was lost. I tried to load my library from my ipod and it had problems. The recommendation was to find and fix errors which promptly deleted my music from my ipod. It says no music but shows the used storage like the music is still there. I've looked on my computer for previous libraries and temp files but am unable to recover my music. HELP!!!!

In brief; backup the device, recover what you can from it, download other purchases from the iTunes Store, restore the device, add content, keep a backup of your library in future.

I am working in Premiere 11 and would like to add a music clip to my timeline. The music in the drag and drop box is 30 seconds long. How do I get a longer clip or can I stretch the clip on the timeline as in Premiere 12? I am just learning the program. I need help fast! Thanks.

lf you stretch the audio clip with Time Stretch beyond its recorded time, it will distort progressively as you drag the file out.
Where is this music clip coming from? If it is one of the SmartSound/Sonicfire Pro 5 soundtracks, you can customize the duration in the SmartSound/Sonicfire Pro 5 workspace so that is does not impact the music arrangement when music file is opened in the Timeline from the SmartSound/Sonicfire Pro 5 workspace.
The SmartSound feature can be found under the Music Tab at the bottom of the Premiere Elements 12 workspace. What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on?

Incorrect total music duration reported in iTunes
I'm up to just under 40Gb of music in iTunes 7.0.2.16. Total music library duration, song count and storage size is reported at bottom of Music frame. Around the 29 to 30 days total mark, iTunes suddenly now reports a wildly incorrect value of around 128+ days. Is this a bug? If I filter the view with some string query, the total duration reported is correct, but for the full library it is WAAAY off.

I had the same problem as I was adding music to my library. I would use the internal CD drive to rip them to my hard drive. After looking at my collection, it was at 144 gb, but the playtime was 513 days!
I set up a smart playlist with the only parameter being to pick songs longer than 20 minutes. I found numberous occassions where an album woul be ripped incorectly and songs would have a value of over 738 hours.
I made notes of these, deleted them from the library and moved them to trash. The time went back to 77 days for my collection. Then, I re-ripped the albums in question and everything seems to be fine.
Now, as I amadding CDs I can watch the overall playtime and immediately know if there is a problem.

IOS4 update = lost contacts, apps crash and cannot sync my music need help
I like many had no problems with updating in the past. I even enjoyed the days off an update just to get to grips with new features. This experience has been abolished with the IOS4. I’ve had my 3G for just over a year (just). I came to update to the IOS4. The update took a long time but I got there in the end. However when iTunes sync came into play is where Im having problems my apps moved across no problems but then I got iTunes couldn’t back up my iPhone because the computer wouldn’t allow. I googled this and came to apples support guide on the matter. which was just delete the back up file in preferences (before I did this I did get a text from someone I know but his name wasn’t coming up just the number I feared then Id lost my contacts) so I did delete my back up. but then the next problem was iTunes couldn’t backup because of an unknown error (-20) (I’ve researched this unknown error and I can’t find anything on it) so I restored the software on iTunes and still I get this error
so now Im left with a iPhone with no music, no contacts, no saved app data even apps crash on start. I read on softpedia (http://news.softpedia.com/news/Apple-Knew-iPhone-3G-Owners-Would-Run-Into-iOS-4- Upgrade-Problems-Customer-Claims-145332.shtml) that an apple employee suggested that apple knew this was going to be a problem and there will be a fix at a later date after the iphone4 and IOS4 rollout and either to wait for this, or buy an iphone 4. To simply buy an iPhone 4 is not an option I bought my phone outright on a payandgo and Im disgusted that an apple employee can even suggest that. now that I know Im not alone on this I want to know just what apple are going to do to fix this asap (for the money I paid I could off got a decent laptop with Skype) I expect and demand a resolution to my problem that isn’t going to cost me more time and money than it already has.just an update,
after reading that some people who are contacting customer support were having some success in fix/getting the iphone replaced. I decided to do the same after going through some testing with the customer care assistant. he told me that I should uninstall itunes and other apple software and reinstall itunes.
uninstall itunes, quicktime, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour, Apple Application Support in that order
it didnt help me but I have now a referance number and I have to ring back tomorrow. the funny thing was that when the customer support guy was putting me on hold to find this resolution he told me that 'this is strange because we have not had this problem or any problems with our update on this phone'.........
I corrected the man and told him 'well, with respect if you was to go on your support forum you will find page after page of people with similar problems not getting answered'

Today an Apple tech helped me 60 min ago. Although my wife and I have diff apple ID's, our music was mixing and syncin back and forth. The tech told me to create new comp user account for wife which I did. I wiped out everything on her ipod and signed in under her ID. When I tried to put it back I got a message that I couldn't download her purchased music for 90 days because there was another apple ID associated with my computer. Not sure wether that means mine or hers. What I am sure of is that I'm dead if I can't get her music back. Please help. Thanks, Craig
I can understand how that would be frustrating. If you created a brand new Apple ID for her, your Apple ID should not have been affected any more than anyone else's. They are as separate from one another as your Apple ID is from mine.
Since you just bought your MacBook Air, you can certainly contact AppleCare for this, and I encourage you to do so. They will straighten it out.
Until then, if you want to troubleshoot this on your own, sign in to your Apple ID here:

Click the blue "Manage your Apple ID" button. If it says it no longer exists or gives you other hassles, it's probably not worth your effort to pursue. Have Apple fix it.

BEX drilldown in rows removes records
