Music during Photo slideshow

i red other topics related to music backgroud but i didn't find anything similar to my issue:
The music played by front row is different from wich i choose (and i save using the tick off "play music during slide show"...) in the slideshow section of IPhoto...
I don't know how to stop this ! pls help...

I agree with you JimAlden - this lack of functionality is very irritating.
Although "Joeymacdaddy" seems to have found a solution with iPhoto 6, this unfortunately has not translated to iPhoto 8 (7.1.3) which I am using. Unlike others, I am simply unable to get any iPhoto-selected iTunes music coming through when I play either an album or a slideshow in Front Row, yet iTunes music plays when separately selected in Front Row.
Joey's solution would be a better workaround than what I have at present, but I would still like to select and play from Front Row "Slideshows" created in iPhoto (with its image-specific slide timings) and with their corresponding music, both streamed from another computer. At present one can only play such shared slideshows with their selected music using iPhoto itself and one must ensure that the same music is resident on that computer.
Another issue is that the streaming is also often too slow (even under 802.1n) and therefore I generally have to copy the particular iPhoto Library including the slideshow on to the playing computer. It would be good therefore to have an ability to automatically update that version from the host in a similar way to how Apple TV works as I understand it since our libraries are typically 15-30GB each.

  • Any way to see song title during photo slideshow?

I enjoy music with photo slideshows and would love to find a way to see the title of the song that is playing. I have a large music library and sometimes a song comes on that I either love or hate and it would be nice to know the artist/title. Any way?

It's not quite the same thing but if you set your screensaver to play slideshows and then selected to play music, say the shuffle option after 2 minutes (default) the screensaver would kick in and you have your slideshows complete with music, if you then heard a track you wanted info about you could just kill the screensaver by pressing the menu button.

  • Can't play music in photo slideshow??

I have got a brand new N78 with the latest firmware. The problem is that i am unable to play any music in the photo slideshow. There is no problem with the music file as I can easily play them on the music player but i don't know why the music doesn't plays in the slideshow....Please help.....

Is the audio track one you purchased from iTunes and is DRM protected? If so then the protection prevents the audio from getting included in the QT movie file.
If you have Quicktime Pro 7 and Quicktime Player 7 you can add the movie to the audio track to get what you want.

  • Music with photo slideshows

My apple TV plays my photo as slideshows, but it won't play music at the same time. I have been to settings, and it says the music is off, but the remote won't switch it on. Music from my itunes library plays fine. Am I missing something?

You are looking at the settings for Photos in general. Go to shared photos and where you see your albums, select settings there. here you can select which itunes playlists you want as background music

  • How to apply a specific music for each photo slideshow

I'd like to setup a specific music for a specific photo slideshow, and to store that preferences, in some way, so that, on selecting a slideshow, automagically startup the specific song.
    Is it possible ?
    Seems not ... yet.

You can do that by preparing the slideshow in iphoto instead of on the tv, you then have to ensure you sync the slideshow and the tunes you have used in the slideshow before playing it on the tv.

  • Can't save "Play music during slideshow" setting in iPhoto 6

    Hi,
I just bought and installed iPhoto 6 today as an upgrade to iPhoto 4. I've discovered that I'm unable to save the "Play music during slideshow" setting in the dialog which appears when I click the "Play" button from the thumbnail screen to play a slideshow. If I uncheck this checkbox and then click on the "Save Settings" button, the next time I play a slideshow, the music starts up again. The most particularly annoying thing about this problem is that I'm trying to create a slideshow that plays no music, and I have to continually uncheck the "Play music during slideshow" checkbox each time I play the slideshow. Has anyone else run into this problem, and is there a solution or workaround for it?
    Thanks,
    Ken

    Hi,
I think I've figured out what's going on here, but I don't know how to fix it. While I was playing around with the items in the "Play" dialog that appears when you initiate a slideshow, I discovered that if I uncheck the "Play music during slideshow" and then change the selection in the tree of folders underneath the checkbox, that the checkbox becomes selected. This would normally be the considerate thing to do, since if the user were making a selection in that tree, it would be rather "rude" in a software sense to not check the checkbox automatically. Unfortunately, in this case, the logic doesn't seem to be looking at the Preferences flag which (correctly, I think) is remembering that I don't want music to be played. So what I think is happening is when this dialog is first instantiated, the checkbox setting is remembered correctly. However, what happens next is that the saved selection in the folder tree is then restored, which then triggers the "a tree selection was just made, so let's check the checkbox" event. This is why if you've saved the "don't play music" setting, the checkbox is initially cleared, and then when the tree selection is set, the checkbox becomes checked. If I save the settings with the checkbox checked, the checkbox is set from the instant the dialog appears. So assuming that this is what's happening, is it possible to fix this by editing the NIB file using the Developer Tools? Or is this logic embedded in the compiled code?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • Fitting a photo slideshow to music

Just starting my first photo slideshow in 08 (having done many in 06 and earlier).
Am just about getting over the lack of a timeline for fine tuning the audio, but figured if I select the music carefully, it should naturally fit the duration of the slideshow.
However - I can't seem to find a 'fit slideshow to music' option - just the choice of setting a slide duration to an individual slide, or to all the slides.
So what is the best way of getting the photos to fit the duration of the music added?

So what is the best way of getting the photos to fit the duration of the music added?
I assume what QT Kirk was trying to point out in his own way is that such an automatic function does not currently exist in iMovie '08. (It would, however, probably make a good enhancement request for iMovie '08 feedback if you want to follow up on it.) The process of duplication such an action is, of course, not all that hard if you want to duplicate it manually.
    1) Import all photos to the project first.
    2) Locate and drop your selected music with desired total duration to the project background.
    3) Now reset the the duration of the sides to match the music duration by
    a) Use a calculator to calculate the number of whole seconds for each slide by dividing the total duration of your music by the total number of slides and noting this number for later use.
    b) Now subtract the whole number calculated above from your answer leaving you with just the fractional part.
    c) Now multiply this fraction by the frame rate standard in which you are editing. (I.e., 25 for PAL or 29.97 for NTSC)
    d) Now round off your answer to the nearest whole number. (I.e., number of frames)
    e) Now select one of your images and choose the "Set Duration" option.
    f) Enter the number of "whole seconds" calculated in step "a" above and the number of frames calculated in step "d" above. (Ex. 5 seconds and 25 frames for an NTSC slideshow would be entered as "5:25" in the duration box.)
    g) Don't forget to set the "Applies to all Photos" option before pressing the "OK" button.
    4) At this point you can add transitions if desired.
These steps should give you a reasonably close approximation for your slideshow. Since the error in approximation for the process is determined by the number of photos included in the slideshow, some adjustment may be required for large numbers of slides. What I might do is simply lessen the duration of each slide by a frame or two and add a "Title" with a duration equal the required adjustment between the changed slideshow display and the original music background to ensure a good final match between the two -- i.e., to take up the "slop" in our fudge factored approximation. While the process may sound complicated, it only takes a matter of seconds to accomplish.

  • Sending I-Photo slideshow w/o altering looping of pics to music

When I send my I-Photo slideshow (with music) to someone via email or Hightail, it cuts the slideshow off when the pics run out rather than cycling the pics through again for the duration of the song (like it does when you preview it in I-Photo).  Help?!

Am I able to configure an older Airport Express 802.11g that is connected wirelessly to the Extreme signal
Unfortunately, the older AirPort Express model that you have does not have this type of capabiility.....an "n" version of the AirPort Express would be able to do what you want.
Look for a Model A1264 or Model A1392.  The A1392 is the newer version, but the A1264 would do fine.
Here I assume that you have an 802.11"n" version of the AirPort Extreme.

  • Music will not play from iTunes during a slideshow that is run from flickr. ATV says turn on homesharing...it already is on!  HELP!!!!

Music will not play during a slideshow launched from Flickr.  After choosing music and starting slideshow, the screen says "loading" and it never stops.  Under the computers section it says, turn on home sharing in iTunes on the computer with the music library.  It is on but apple tv wont recognize it.  I've signed out and signed back in over and over and home sharing is on but music wont play.  Is this a bug with flickr?  Music will play when i launch a slideshow from the iPad but it doesnt have as many cool options for slideshows as flickr does.  I want the flickr slideshow to play with music!!!  Grrrrrrrr!!!!!  Can anyone help???

ok, major miracle.  it is now working.  here is how i fixed it, and it was a stroke of luck to even find this.  opened iTunes, went to edit, then to preferences.  box pops up, went to the sharing icon and clicked share my local library on my local network.  then scrolled down and checked all the boxes that were applicable.  for the heck of it i went through all the other headings to see what else might be hiding from me.  i never thought this would do anything but went to ATV, selected flickr, chose some music and wa-la....its playing.  also, under the computers heading, it still does not show my iTunes library but clearly its there someplace.  oh well, it works...i'm happy!  your reply inspired me to keep working so thank you for that!

  • Adding multiple music tracks to a photo slideshow

    Hi guys,
I have a photo slideshow of over 100 photos and would like to add more than 1 music track. I am having difficulty in adding a 2nd audio file after I have already used the beat marker on the first track to put my photos in sync with the music.
Is it best to add the tracks onto the clip/photos themselves or as a project track?
Any info on how to add multiple tracks to a project or clips would be great
    Many thanks.

I'm just finishing up a 20 minute slide show for my son's 5th grade graduation (tomorrow!) and I've been up the learning curve. What I did was add the song and pin it to the first photo. You can add a song 2 ways - You want it to surround the video/photos. When you drag it to the upper left, it you will notice it's shaded green around the photos. If you hover near the gear symbol, you will get a grabby hand to move it. Drag it to a photo and it will turn purple and be pinned to that image. For the next song, you will also drag it to the upper left and it will be green (depending on if your other song is at the very beginning of your project). Then drag it to the image to which you want it attached. This gets buggy and tedious when you're doing a long video. But I liked this method better than dragging the audio and seeing a green bar at the bottom, because I always accidentaly moved it around and messed myself up. Hope that helps!

  • How do I turn down the music when a video plays during a slideshow in iphoto?

The slideshow music volume does go down slightly when a video plays but sometimes it can be difficult to hear what is being said.  Is there anyway to have the music turn off when a video plays as part of a slideshow, or as least control how low it is?  Thanks for your help!

You can't.  There used to be a mute music during video play option but that never worked very well. To get it as you want you'll have to create the slideshow in iMovie where you can add and control the audio tracks.
I prefer using iMovie 6 HD for that as it give users by far the best control over audio tracks.

  • Just upgraded to OSx Maverics and Iphoto 9.5 - no music during slideshow ?

Just upgraded to OSx Maverics and Iphoto 9.5 and now have no music when playing slideshows (using custom or default). All libraries worked fine before upgrade (using Lion). Any ideas?

In iTunes go File -> Library -> Organise Library -> Reorganise Library.
    Then quit and restart iPhoto.
Credit to user keysandfood who figured that one out.

  • Controlling the Photo Slideshow thru a remote

I have my itouch hooked up to my tv via the docking station and the composite av cables. I want to know if there is a way to have the little white remote control (advance, pause, etc.) the photo slideshow. Right now if press those buttons during the photo slideshow, it just starts controlling the music.
Please let me know if there is a way to change it to have the white little remote control the photo slideshow.

  • Audio freezes during photos transitions

    Hello,
after burning DVD, when playing the disc on a regular dvd player, the music jumps during the photos transitions in the diaporama. When playing the disc on the macbook, everything is fine. My wish is to send the disc to other people so they can watch that DVD... Is there a way to get it to work or should I just eliminate the transition?

Thanks but it isn't the case, the preview is fine,
but the final burned disc is my problem. On the
macbook, everything is fine, but on a regular dvd
player, audio jam during every transitions.
Sorry, but that's the way it works. Slides in a slideshow are actually 'chapters' and some DVD players drop the audio on chapter changes.
The ONLY way to get continuous audio during a slideshow for all DVD players is to create your slideshow with audio as a movie in iPhoto or iMovie.

  • Coordinating music and photos in iPhoto videos

I have been having a great deal of trouble coordinating the pictures with the music that I try to add to my iMovie videos. By this I mean that I simply want the song to play to the end. I know that I can keep adding photos from iPhoto until I have enough to support the music, but isn't there a simpler way? This way is overly tedious.
    Maybe I misunderstand the instructions/information. Here's what I do.
    A.MUSIC SETTINGS in iPhoto
    (1) Put checkmark before "Play music during slideshow".
    (2) Highlight chosen song
    (3) Click CHOOSE
    B.SLIDESHOW SETTINGS
There are two choices here, either of which would SEEM to solve my problem, but don't:
    (1) Place dot before "Play each slide for a minimum of ___ seconds. The music will repeat for as long as the slides play".
    (2) Place dot before "Fit SLIDESHOW to music. Slide durations will be adjusted to make the slides play as long as the music plays
To me, this looks like I can use either option to get the desired result, but it doesn't work like that. To me, it looks like I could just select, say, 100 seconds for item 1, or just "Fit SLIDESHOW to music" as item 2 states. Wrong. Neither way works for me.
I'm talking about one three-minute song with as many pictures as iPhoto requires. Where am I going wrong?

    Some rules of thumb:
A minute long slideshow can have a maximum of 60 images - 1 per second, assuming no cross fades.
10 per minute will feel busy
5 per minute will give people time to view the images comfortably.
You know that the iPhoto slideshow is no more than a quick and handy way to do this. Other apps offer more control - and some can even upload directly to YouTube.
    Alternatives to iPhoto's slideshow include:
    iMovie, on every Mac sold.
Others, in order of price: PhotoPresenter  $29
    PhotoToMovie  $49.95
    PulpMotion  $129
FotoMagico $29 (Home version) ($149 Pro version, which includes PhotoPresenter)
    Final Cut Pro X $299
It's difficult to compare these apps. They have differences in capability - some are driven off templates. some aren't. Some have a wider variety of transitions. Others will have excellent audio controls. It's worth checking them out to see what meets your needs. However, there is no doubt that Final Cut Pro X is the most capable app of them all. You get what you pay for.
