Music DVD compatibility

Hello all
I have just made a DVD of music from an album in itunes in my Mac. I sent this to a friend but she doesn't seem to be able to open it in her pc which has itunes for Windows. Can anyone help ?
Thanks
Nigel

Dont worry about such small things man. You phone does not support this format. If you are desperate playing this file, then the only alternative is is to get a converter. You can find a free converter on www.jodix.com. Now please smile.

  • Music DVD

Can I download music from a music DVD,  to iTunes (on a PC), then on to my iPoc classic? If so, how? Thanks

on toast you can create music DVD's, but not the type that you are thinking about. it will creat .mp3 or .wav files that will playback on compatible players.
on DVD Studio Pro you cannot create the same type of music DVD's. also, you cannot creat Audio DVD's.
    hope that helps

  • Music dvd in Toast and iTunes 9.2.1

I am trying to create a music dvd in Toast 10, but it always crashes right at the very end when it is supposed to write the dvd or the image file. Looking at the recovery file in Toast, the last completed file is the dvd folder, though that is probably not completed.
Someone on the Toast 10 Pro forums suggested that burning a music dvd from Toast 10 Pro was messed up with iTunes latest update. At first I was trying to burn 26 playlists (26 cd's in other words), and Toast would crash. Then I combined playlists simply by dragging the separate tracks into a single folder. That's where I am now. But Toast still will not burn the dvd or finish the disk image. Any help or pointers greatly appreciated.
    Mac Pro ver 1.1, 13 gig ram, 4 X 2tb hd's, OSX 10.6.4, Toast 10 Pro 10.0.7

Found out how. Lots of work with manual entry of track names. But it works.

  • Music DVD .. 10 Hours of Audio? Slideshow??

Roxio Toast has a Music DVD option that can add hours of audio on a single DVD.
I tried to look for info on how to do this in Encore .. but there is nothing.
As a slideshow, my test only had three audio files .. which took up 1/4 of the disk.
What is the smallest audio file to import into Encore? I used a mp3. I saw a transcoding menu pop-up that converted the m.mp3 to ac3
Can I save space and steps to do this?
Anybody make a Music DVD before?

Music DVD - how I have come to loathe that description, along with the equally ghastly "Audio DVD".
Both usually mean DVD-Video containing music, and should definitely not get confused with DVD-Audio although well authored DVD-A discs will also play on video only players.

Frequently - Encore is somewhat limited in this respect because the DVD specifications were not really set up with audio playback as the primary stream type so it's always a bit of a fudge getting things right as changing any video or graphic asset forces the audio to change right along with it.
I suspect that the Roxio app you mention is cheating by what it is not telling you - reading it carefully I see no mention of any visuals or imagery being used, so I think it is simply taking one timeline of audio and matching it up to a blank video stream, and allowing you to add markers as chapter marks.
The result would be many hours of audio to blank screens....
    Launch Encore.
At the splash, choose "New Project" and set according to TV Standard - PAL if in Europe, NTSC just about everywhere else.
Set "Default Transcode Settings" to suit - automatic transcoding to a maximum of 6 mbps (just to be safe) and the audio form to Dolby Digital.
To get this done the best way is to get all your audio imported into a project first. I would not use MP3 if I could use anything else as it is a form that is already heavily data reduced, and is also not a DVD legal format so must be changed into one that is. Encore will do this automatically to either LPCM or Dolby Digital (depending on your project transcode settings) by decoding the MP3 back to 32-bit floating point PCM and from there into Dolby Digital (ac3) at 192 kbps which is about the same as the average mp3 file. Downside here is that a heavily reduced file just got even more heavily reduced so quality loss is a very high possibility as despite the claims of Roxio, Dolby Digital is not particularly high quality. But I digress.
Now, you can have up to 99 titles in any DVD, each one with up to 99 chapters.
So, put any imported asset to a new timeline, and add chapter markers as needed.
Do not add any video or graphical assets as this will trigger video encoding which will greatly reduce the available space.
You will need eiother a basic menu, or else you will have to link everything together in the flowchart, making sure you set a FIRST PLAY and to link the end action of one timeline to the start of the next or you will get a coaster. It might be a good plan to get a +RW disc and practise this a few times.
Now - adding any still images is difficult. If the audio is segued, you cannot do a slideshow - even with Scenarist! All you can do if the audio is segued (a live performance, or a continuous piece) is either not have chapter points or have one "slideshow" per piece. You can only do this in a standard timeline set to blank (not black) video.
Compile and test - you will have a disc full of straight audio.

  • Music DVD vs. DVD-A vs. SACD

    Hello all ~
Back once again with hopefully a tough question that someone can answer.
I found that there are at least three types (formats) of DVDs that have music only and they are "Music DVD", "DVD-Audio" (or "DVD-A"), and "SACD". I discovered that Toast Titanium 8 can create Music DVD's (which are really just like standard DVD's, but they have only music, according to the Toast documentation), but NOT DVD-A's or SACD's.
Well, this doesn't say if I can PLAY DVD-A's or SACD's, and doing searches here, it doesn't appear that the topic has come up. I do know that people have to buy "special" DVD players to play DVD-A and SACD disks.
But I'm at a loss here, can my MacBook Pro 2.33 GHz play DVD-A's or SACD's? If not, can newer models play them? If not, why???
    Thanks much all!
    Chaz

No, your MacBook Pro cannot play the DVD-A or SACD format. Neither can the new models because Apple has not yet decided to license or support the technology into any of their Macs. Nobody can know why Apple will not include newer formats, such as Blue Ray, so speculation is a moot point.

  • Can you download a music DVD to iTunes

I was just wondering can you download a music DVD to iTunes?

    (1) If you're talking about commercial, copyright-protected DVDs, you should be aware that it is illegal in many counties, possibly including yours.
    (2) If you're talking about commercial, copy-protected DVDs, you should be aware that providing advice on breaking copy protection schemes is illegal in the US, where this forum is based; posting such advice would break the forum's ToU, and hosting such advice would make Apple liable to prosecution.
    (3) If you're talking about DVDs which are not copy protected and whose copyright holder gave you the licence to copy them, then you may use Disk Utility. Once copied, you can play the content using DVD Player.
For common DVD, i think hanbrake can meet your needs.

  • Apple TV- Importing Music DVD's That I Own- Physical DVD's

What is the procedure to import Music DVD's into iTunes and down to an ATV? Do I need a ripper in addition to something like MacTheRipper or Handbrake?

    itunes offers no such facility.
also, discussions regarding such a topic are not permitted here.

  • Importing dvd's/music dvd's

Does anyone know if music dvd's and movie dvd's can be imported to iTunes and then to the iPod? I have several I want to put in but I can't get it to work. Is there a program or a back door?

Sorry, per the terms of usage , we cannot discuss tops along the lines of ripping DVD's since doing so would require breaking the encryption on said discs - a violations of the DMCA. In other words - illegal.

  • Burning a MUSIC DVD Possible?

Is is possible in iTunes to burn a MUSIC DVD that will play in any DVD Player? Burning a MUSIC CD works fine but I would like to use a DVD because of the greater capacity. The only instructions I've found are how to burn a DATA DVD - for back-up I guess, and playing in some computers. I would really appreciate knowing if this is possible and, if so, how it can be done. Thank you very much.

You cannot create an audio DVD.
Many, many DVD players will play AAC and MP3 files on a data DVD.

  • Cataloguing a Music DVD

Just a thought. iTunes facilitates browsing your music, movies and tv shows with total ease but not so much for a Music DVD. There should be another sub category along with Music, Movies, TV Shows etc. under Library for the DVD style music concert or video singles collection. Anyone know of the most efficient way of cataloguing this stuff in iTunes or better still, if the Apple dudes are ever gonna include a feature like this in iTunes?

You cannot create an audio DVD.

  • Importing a music dvd onto my mac

    Hi guys
I am wodering how I can import a music dvd onto my Mac so i can a make a copy. It doesnt seem to be quite as simple as a cd. Thanks

Why the sanctimonious reaction will remain a mystery
Wow, I've been called a lot of things in my life--for some reason, none of them good things
The point is that DVD decrypting is illegal in many parts of the world, including the USA, where Apple Computer, Inc. seems to be headquartered, and where these discussion forums are hosted.

  • Copy Music DVD to itunes

How do I copy my new Andrea Bocelli music DVD into itunes?

    Kimi123 wrote:

    No, CDs aren't generally encrypted.
    I purchased the CD's in precisely the same manner as my new music DVD and from the above reply it would appear that I am precluded from enjoying my legally purchased DVD on my own Ipod;
    Yup, that's correct.
however, if I had purchased a music DVD from itunes I could only then import this live music onto my Ipod (and possibly create a backup DVD as well?) - surely logic dictates that something is seriously amiss?
The iTunes Store doesn't sell DVDs. Video content sold by the iTunes Store can be back up to a DVD but not burned to a DVD that can be played on a regular DVD player.
There simply must be someone out there to help me with a method and means to get my music DVD onto my Ipod, as this is very important to me.
I gave you the only method that can be talked about on these forums.
    From the terms of use:
    http://discussions.apple.com/help.jspa
+Do not submit software or descriptions of processes that break or otherwise ‘work around’ digital rights management software or hardware. This includes conversations about ‘ripping’ DVDs or working around FairPlay software used on the iTunes Store.+
Sorry if it's not the answer you want.
