Music DVD to iPod?

How can I take a song from a commercial music DVD (that I own) and put any particular song on my iPod?

See if this helps...

  • Transfey movies or music dvd to ipod

how can I transfer movies and video music from my own dvd collections to ipod?

On a Mac, use handbrake for DVD's and mpeg streamclip for most videos.
    On a PC, don't know.

  • When I put a cd in the computer, itunes open and I can put the music on my ipod.  why wont itunes open when i put a dvd in my computer so i can put it on my ipod, too?

When I put acd in the computer, itunes opens and I can transfer music to my ipod.
Why wont itunes open when I put a dvd in the computer?  It opens in windows media player.  I want to transfer a dvd to my ipod.

Have you tried to click on "repair" and then try to uninstall the component?

  • HT203167 I would like to download my music from an iPod to iTunes library is that possible? Our last computer got fried so unable to retreive info from it to new computer. Will I have to re-install all the music from CD's?

I would like to download my music from my iPod touch to iTunes library, is that possible?  Our old computer fried and we were unable to salvage any information.  All of the music that I downloaded from CD's is not in iTunes on our new computer. Will I have to reload all CD's?

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion.
Have you failed to do this?
If so, then you will need to rip the dvds again

  • How do i take the music from my ipod and transfer it permanently onto my PC's itunes?

How do i take the music from my ipod and transfer it permanently onto my PC's itunes?

If you were using a Mac you could use a program but AFAIK there is nothing similar yet for the PC.
However, you should have a backup of your music, correct? Just restore from that backup to your computer (and, if not, at least this will teach you the importance of always backing up your music purchases onto writable media like DVD).

  • How do you import music from your ipod to your itunes???

I just got a new computer and I can't figure out how to get my music from my ipod to my new itunes, does anyone know how?

    Kid,
These links will give you several methods of recovering whatever songs remain on your iPod; some free, some third-party software, some more comprehensive for restoring Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, etc. Read them and their associated links before deciding on a strategy that works for you. There are many various third-party software programs that will offer a more robust process, or an easier GUI. Do a Google search for them if the links below leave you wanting…
Don King Resurrected: Deleted files from hard drive (free user steps – music recovery only)
MacMuse: Computer Crashed (free user steps – music recovery only)
Copying music from iPod to computer (a primer on various methods and software)
Copying Songs from Your iPod to a Mac or PC (resource for 3rd party software)
    iPodRip Software
    PodUtil Software
Senuti (Mac OS X v10.3 or higher Recovery Utility)
XPlay (Software For Music Recovery &/or Cross-Platform Functionality)
XPlay Photo Browser (For recovering Photos)
After recovering your song files, strongly consider developing a thorough backup strategy for just this type of situation (and many other potential disasters).
You need at least two full sets of your music, not including what is on the iPod:
-- One full set on the PC within iTunes (on internal HD or ExHD)
-- One full set on an separate external backup medium (CD/DVD/ExHD/other)
-- One (full or partial) set on the iPod
Music files on just the iPod and only one other medium is not considered having any backup.
If you cannot store your complete music files on the computer’s internal HD, then create and maintain at least two external sets (any multiple combinations of ExHDs, DVDs, CDs).
Backup both the music files and the Library database file (iTunes Library.itl). What are the iTunes Library files?

  • Importing dvd's/music dvd's

Does anyone know if music dvd's and movie dvd's can be imported to iTunes and then to the iPod? I have several I want to put in but I can't get it to work. Is there a program or a back door?

Sorry, per the terms of usage , we cannot discuss tops along the lines of ripping DVD's since doing so would require breaking the encryption on said discs - a violations of the DMCA. In other words - illegal.

How do I copy my new Andrea Bocelli music DVD into itunes?

I regularly import my new CD's into itunes and yet they are also encrypted.
    No, CDs aren't generally encrypted.
    I purchased the CD's in precisely the same manner as my new music DVD and from the above reply it would appear that I am precluded from enjoying my legally purchased DVD on my own Ipod;
    Yup, that's correct.
however, if I had purchased a music DVD from itunes I could only then import this live music onto my Ipod (and possibly create a backup DVD as well?) - surely logic dictates that something is seriously amiss?
The iTunes Store doesn't sell DVDs. Video content sold by the iTunes Store can be back up to a DVD but not burned to a DVD that can be played on a regular DVD player.
There simply must be someone out there to help me with a method and means to get my music DVD onto my Ipod, as this is very important to me.
I gave you the only method that can be talked about on these forums.
    From the terms of use:
    http://discussions.apple.com/help.jspa
+Do not submit software or descriptions of processes that break or otherwise ‘work around’ digital rights management software or hardware. This includes conversations about ‘ripping’ DVDs or working around FairPlay software used on the iTunes Store.+
Sorry if it's not the answer you want.
    Best of luck.

  • Import music dvd to itunes

Hi all, new to this and can't figure out how to download my live music dvds so I can hear the music on my ipod. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You might try Audacity. It will, I believe, allow you to record the sound output of your computer. This is legal as far as I know (the so-called "analog loophole") as it doesn't involve breaking the encryption. It is a bit of a pain but it should work.

  • Importing DVD to Ipod

I am trying to import a musical dvd to my Ipod nano but the disk is not recognized in Itunes

Unfortunately, in order to copy a commercial DVD, you would need to break the encryption, a process which is illegal in the U.S. and other countries. Because it's illegal, the Terms of Use for these forums prohibit us from discussing methods. Sorry.

  • Transferring audio content only from music DVD

I have a commercial music DVD, whose music I would like to transfer to iTunes and on to my iPod. I am only interested in the music. Can I separate the music content in some way?
    Thanks

Not sure if I am allowed to mention other products, but a Google search revealed a free piece of software that resolves this issue. "Free DVD MP3 Ripper" by Jodix. It is very simple and does the job.

  • How to back up my music of my Ipod

I want to back up or copy all my music of my Ipod to a DVD or Cd's and I can't find the way to doi it,...please can some one explain me how to do it.
    cheers,

I am not too familiar with Macs, but this may give you an idea of what to do. I use Windows Explorer on my PC, by dragging the files from my music library folder to a folder on my external hard drive (I am sure Mac has the same principal of managing folders). I first create a folder called “iTunes back-up” or something like that, then I click and drag files from “My Music” folder to this folder. This allows a clean back up of my music, movies, TV shows, etc. and believe me, it is a MUST DO! My old computer died and if it would not have been for this back up, I will be doomed! You can probably do this same back-up process using a DVD or CD, instead of an external Hard Drive.
I hope this helps… good luck!
    Manolo.
Please click on the YES if this helped resolving your issue… Thanks!
