Music files "removed or modified"--no reimbursement

Songs from albums I purchased from Itunes disappeared from my Iphone. I am now being told that they were "removed or modified" by content producer and Itunes will not download them or give me a refund (the songs are still available on Itunes). I wan't hacked, no virus, my phone didn't crash--these songs simply disappeared. Anyone else have this experience? How can I get back the songs I purchased or get reimbursed?

This is true; I have a number of songs purchased from iTunes that are no longer available, though my copies continue to work just fine.
Though the songs may still be on iTunes, the versions you purchased may no longer be available.
You could try contacting iTunes Music store support and see if they might be willing to allow you a goodwill download of those songs.

  • I have recently had some music files removed from itunes.  The  originals are still on my ipod.  How do i restore these missing items to my itunes......

I have recently had some music files removed from itunes.  This was not supposed to happen!  However the originals (consisting largely of playlists) ae still on my ipd and I do not want to do any syncing until I have resolved the issue. Is there any way to  restore these missing tunes from the ipod to my itunes?  Grateful for any input........

You cannot transfer song files from iPod to computer using iTunes (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store).  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer song files from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
NOTE:  Songs previously purchased from the iTunes Store can also be re-downloaded at no cost, from the iTunes Store Purchased screen.

  • HT3842 Does iTunes store the original music file and copy it into a separate folder? If i delete the original file from finder will it remove it from my iTunes library?

Hi, on my last PC when transferring music to my new MacBook Pro i noticed i had about 6 duplicated of each song in every album i took hours in removing them.
I Just wondered Does iTunes store the original music file and then copy it into a separate folder?
If i delete the original file from finder will it remove it from my iTunes library or vice versa. I didnt want to lose any music like i have some how managed to on my old computer.
Or should i keep both files of it in the Music folder and also iTunes library folder?
    Which is best ?

It does both at the same time.
When you add files to iTunes, it copies them into /Music/iTunes/iTunes media/ folder. The original file remains where it was.
You can drag a file to /Music/iTunes/iTunes media/Automatically add to iTunes/ folder.
This will add to iTunes and move it to /Music/iTunes/iTunes media/.
I keep a shortcut of this folder on my desktop then simply drag files to the shortcut to add to iTunes.
Then there are no "extra" files around.

  • Nokia C5-03 music files still visible aldo removed...

I connect my nokia C5-3 to the PC to put and remove music on the memory stick in the mobile. When I remove music files, they are still visible on my mobile when I want to create playlists. So It takes a lot of time to find the right files! I can't play the ones who are removed offcourse but they stay in the list
Other problem: it seems that music and videaos are put automatically on the memory stick from my PC, how do I prevent that?
    thanks!
    Solved!

After you added/removed music, you must refresh your music library.

  • How do I find bad music files?  I have thousands of files, but some are bad.  When I try to load them into iTunes, it just spins.  I need a routine to identify and remove the bad files.  Any ideas?

    Hi ajoddo20,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
You can use Home Sharing to import music and other media from one computer to another. Please use the instructions and information located in the attached article for information on how to complete the process.

  • My music files keep being removed after being added to iTunes

I have had my macbook for about a year and only recently has it started to remove my music files from its originial folder when i add it to itunes. I have looked at all the settings and can't figure out whats going on. Any advice ???

ITunes can convert the files for you. Set up mp3 as your import format from Edit > Preferences > General tab (enable the menu bar if needed with ALT or CTRL+B), then right-click on a selection of files and use Create MP3 Version.

  • I have allowed my iTunes Match subscription to expire, because of a limited data plan so can't listen to music outside my house. My music files were removed from my computer and are inaccessible without renewing the subscription. How do I get them back?

    Hi,
I presume you deleted the original files as match would not have done so. Do you have a back up. If so, restore your music from that. If not, your will have lost all your music as this needed to be on your hard drive when you unsubscribed.

  • Framemaker uses $filename for short file name, can we edit this to change appearance? We do not want the short file name of long filename to include the .fm extension can this be removed or modified to make this happen?

Framemaker uses <$filename> for short file name, can we edit this to change appearance? We do not want the short file name of long filename to include the .fm extension can this be removed or modified to make this happen? In compiling our books it would be helpful to not have this extension appear as it then requires us to create extra files without them.

  • Remove Duplicate Music Files, But Keep iTunes Copy

How can you remove duplicate copies of music files on your hard drive but be sure to keep the one iTunes is using and keeping the iTunes Library intact?
I have hundred of duplicate music files, using a tool like CleanGenius or others I can get a list of duplicate files, but I do not want to break iTunes Library and only want to remove the duplicates that are not being used in iTunes.

I have the same issue. If I have a file in my music folder and then click on it and it opens in itunes it creates a duplicate file in my itunes library. Besides sorting in finder and deleting one by one based upon folder location is there a less mind numbing way to accomplish this task.
Or do I have to pay the $10 for a program like Gemini?

  • Unable to remove music files from iPhone

After Sync with itunes, there are some music files in my iPhone , that are not readable and are in grey  color.
I think this happened after an incomplete sync process with itunes.
there is no delete option available for this files.
I tried removing/deleting these files by following options.
Sync by 'manually manage music & videos'
Removed all music files from itunes library and sync.
    Clear music data using settings-general-usage-music
    Restarted iphone.
None of these worked and these files are still there in my iPhone in grey color.
Please help me to clear these unwanted files.

Delete the items directly on the device.
iPhone/iPod touch: In the list type views swipe from right to left over the right hand side of an item (but keep away from the alphabet if it is showing down the edge of the window). A red delete button should appear, tap to remove the track.
iPad: In grid mode holding your finger down on an item for about a second will produce a black & white cross at the top left, touch this to delete.

  • Want to store music files on a removable storage device..can this be done?

Hello! I am not a very technical person so please bear with me! My computer is a work issued computer so I cannot store personal files on it including music files. I have an external storage device that can hold all my music, but I don't know how to set it up to where iTunes links these files to the music in my library. I know how to import a folder/files into the iTunes library and I have done this many times, but when I close out of iTunes and then open it back up, it does not recognize/link any of files - and yes, I do have the external storage device hooked up! Can this be done? And if so, can someone please tell me how to do so?
    Many, many thanks!!
    Attessa

Remove the USB drive. Delete all the entries currently in the library.
Look in Preferences and make sure the music library is pointing to your *work computer hard drive.*
Make sure the preferences for "Keep..." and "Copy..." are both not checked.
Insert the USB drive. Add all the songs to your library. They should play.
Remove the drive. After a while reconnect it. Do they play OK now?

  • How can I completely remove music files from my mac? (sorry if repost)

I am currently enjoying a 15' MacBook Pro (Mac Os X 10.6.4) and have upgraded to Itunes 10. Recently, I decided to delete all my music files and start over. To avoid duplicate files I followed the advice on this link - (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1224) ; However, when I downloaded Itunes 10 again, my music was still there. Please help! I really want to start with a clean slate and have the peace of mind, knowing that there are no hidden music files on my mac taking up space. Looking forward to some great help.

Recently, I decided to delete all my music files and start over.
Why? Much easier to clean up what you do have.
To avoid duplicate files I followed the advice on this link -(http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1224)
That simply removes the iTunes application. It will not remove any of the library or media files.
All the media files and library files are in /Music/iTunes/ folder.

Do you have these music files stored elsewhere? You do not get to redownload any iTunes store purchases.

    Robert...
You can delete songs directly from the iPhone.
Tap the Music tab in the Dock.
Now swipe to the left or right once. You should see a red delete button.
