Music+Fim's Covers replaced by Genius-Mix Icon

After having installed the OS4 on my iPod Touch, a great number of music and film's covers has been replaced by the Genius -Mix typical icon (4 different album covers).
In iTunes everything's still fine.
Is there something wrong with the sync?

I've had this problem for months.   Very occasionally would I see a change in my iPod touch's album art, but mostly they been stuck with a lot of duplicate artwork, and many repeated tracks when I listen to them.   My mixes in iTunes on my Mac do change frequently, and never have I seen any duplicate artwork.
I too have tried disabling Genius, re-syncing my iPod, then re-enabling Genius, which generated brand new mixes and displayed new art in iTunes.   When I re-synced my iPod, its original mixes and art re-appeared, with the same duplicates in the same positions, as if the mixes were just hidden and recovered rather than synced at all.
I haven't tried rebooting or restoring my iPod from a backup.   This isn't the worst thing in the world, worth me taking those extra steps, but annoying to notice nevertheless.   This should just work.

Genius Mixes icon doesn't appear below Genius

I've installed the new iTunes 9. Genius is turned on. I see the 'Genius' icon in the left column but not the 'Genius Mixes' icon as it shows in the Getting Started video.

No Genius Mix Icon in my Side Panel

Updated to the new iTunes and all software is up to date. I have no genius mix icon in my lefthand sidebar on one of my many iMacs. How can I get this to appear? Oh, and the genius icon that is in that sidebar is the old icon. Any ideas?

IPod Album Art replaced by Genius Mix Art

This happens to albums which fit within the given Genius Mix, albums which do not fit within the given Genius Mix, and oddly enough, to TV shows. It is quite annoying, as I go to great lengths to make sure my album art is all good quality and well cropped. It's all fine on iTunes, but on my iPod it just randomly chooses albums not to work for.

It's the same with me. It appears that only manually added artwork displays. Songs with downloaded artwork show a blank in iTunes when I play them from the iPod, although on the iPod itself the artwork shows.
This has to do with the fact that downloaded artwork is not embedded in the mp3-files, in contrary to manually added artwork.
What you could try is to embed downloaded artwork yourself (wait for a rainy sunday afternoon though). Use this program to extract downloaded artwork from your iTunes libray: http://sourceforge.net/projects/iaae/

IPad Air music app always defaults to Genius Mixes

Apologies if this has been discussed and solved in a previous discussion but I can't trace it.
I have an iPad Air and when I select the "Music" app it the always defaults to Genius Mixes which have somehow been created by Apple albeit from my own music. I then have to tap on one of the other tabs like Artists or Albums to proceed. Even I left my iPad on Artists, next time I switch on and go to "Music" once again it defaults to Genius Mixes. How do I stop this happening please? It's not a great iss
BTW, I don't have iTunes Match and Genius is switched off in iTunes on my PC.

Well, I had not thought about the icon position controlling the default. Albums is in my #1 position and it is pretty much the only view I use on a regular basis.

Ipad music app always starts with genius mixes

I am usind an iPad mini 16GB with iOS8 running the newest version. Every time I start the music app it fires up with the genius mix overview and not my last selection, e.g. artists listing. I subscribed to iTunes match with genius enabled.
I clearly recall iOS7 not acting like this. So my question is: Is this a bug or a feature or am I missing something.

If you are having issues with your iPad's Music application always launching to the genius mix screen, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
Force an app to close in iOS - Apple Support
Next, I would try restarting and if needed resetting the iPhone -
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups

I don't think you can. I was going to suggest that since you can sync a Genius Mix to a device you might read off the tracks from that, but it turns out the details are hidden there too.
As I understand it once a Genius Mix has been created it won't be altered, unless you delete a "mix" you don't care for in which case a replacement will be generated.
To capture the list in iTunes I guess you would have to leave the mix to play all the way through until it loops back on itself, then sort your Music in Last Played order and capture the results to a regular playlist.

ITunes 9 Genius Mixes (having issues)

I turned off Genius, turned it back on to get Genius Mixes and have not been able to actually play a Genius Mix yet! When I go to the Genius Mix icon and then try and select a Mix, I hit the Play button that appears in the middle of the 4 random cd cover artworks and nothing happens. Well, sometimes, the beach ball shows up and iTunes just stalls! What is going on here? Why doesn't music start playing? Has anyone else had this issue?

"All I needed to do was check all files, update genius results and Mixes worked properly. Short end of it...Genius only had a few songs, so while the mixes saw my collection, the only relevant tracks to pull from was 14, so the genre wouldn't play if no tracks were in my genius profile....arrrg "
Same problem since update! Maddening. So where did you "check all files" ?
I can see the 12 mixes, some play right away and others do nothing or get the BBOD/force quit. I've got 2700+ items in my Music list so ought to be enough for some of these. How do you see what is in the mix, or can you?

Need some Help with the new Genius Mixes on iTunes 9

I would like to know how to use the New Genius Mixes on iTunes 9. I don't quit know how to use it yet and like all of us we're all just learning how to use the Genius Mixes. I did watch the KeyNote but they didn't go into great detail on how to use it. Does Apple have a web site that has more detail instruction on how to use the genius Mixes? I did find some info. on how to use the Genius mixes but it didn't go into great detail on how or what to do with the genius Mixex and thats what I need.
when I click on the genius Mixes icon under the "Genius", what shows up is a Big square with four album images of my music that I have in my music collection, I go and roll my mouse over the Big square with my four music albums and click on it to play the music and it'll play what ever I have in the Genius Mix list plus as I roll my mouse over the Big Square, under it it says "Jazz Mix" with some text writings under the Jazz mix.
I want to change the Jazz mix Title and I want to know how to add more music square boxes to my Genius Mixes just like they show in the Keynote and I would like to edit and create my own four square music boxes in my Genius Mixes.
I never used my music genius list, I always created just a play List, now I am just learning how to use this music Genius lists and I don't know how to use it at all and I need someone that knows how to use thr Genius Mixes list to help me how to use it since there isn't a how to book yet for the new iTunes 9.
Can someone Please help me with the new genius Mixes on iTunes.

Today, I was getting an array out of bounds exception on a split
I don't see how that could happen with the 'split' method since it creates its own array.
For this particular string, ordSplit.length = 24 and commas = 26.
PERFECT! That is exactly what it should be!
Look closely at the end of the sample string you posted and you will see that it has trailing empty strings at the end: '1096200000000242505,,,'
Then if you read the Javadocs for the 'split' method you will find that those will NOT be included in the resulting array:

Splits this string around matches of the given regular expression. This method works as if by invoking the two-argument split method with the given expression and a limit argument of zero. Trailing empty strings are therefore not included in the resulting array.
Just a hunch but your 'out of bounds exception' is likely due to your code assuming that there will be 26 entries in the array and there are really only 24.

Genius mix on my iPhone 4s - how do they work

The genius mix icon showed up on my 4s today.
When I click on it there is one mix.
How can I get more?
Whenever I touch the "mix" it starts playing.
Any advice appreciated.

Duplicate Album Covers in Genius Mixes

So I've noticed that in my Genius Mixes on my iPod, some of the album covers show up twice for the same Mix. They show up correctly in iTunes, but for whatever reason, they don't on my iPod.

I can't see the list or cover view while in Genius mixes.
You don't get list view or cover view with the mixes. You can always submit this as a request to Apple at:

Also, some of the album covers are showing up and some not.
Are you talking about in iTunes? When you select that individual song in the main "music" section and pull up "Get info", do you see the artwork in the artwork tab?
Or is it ok in iTunes and is the problem just on your mobile device? If so, which one.
I can't see what the mix is as the list won't show up and that makes the Genius mix not worth using if I can't even see what Itunes is selecting for me.
You can pull it up in DJ if you want, and that gives you a glimpse of what's in there, but only a max of a 100 songs. But, frankly, it sounds like the lack of visibility into genius mixes are sufficiently annoying for you that you might want to consider not using it. Use plain old genius playlists (select song, hit , save it as a playlist): That behaves more like it sounds like you want.

A cleaner solution is to create a playlist with your running albums, then update the other smart playlists with "Playlist" not in "Running Albums".
That way, you don't need to update each and every playlist when you add a new running album, you just need to put it in the Running Albums playlist.

Where is the Genius Mix download button in IOS 7 Music app?

In the IOS 7 Music app there is no longer a download button to get your Itunes Genius mixes downloaded to your phone. What's up with that? Is there another way to do it? There used to be a button at the top left to download the Genius mix from your itunes Match. Now it's absent. Not really into streaming music when I'm not on Wifi because I'm on a 2GB plan. Any insight? Thanks!

Plus, since my alarm clock app uses the functionality of the music player, I can no longer tell the app to randomly play from a certain playlist. I have to add the songs individually there. No "add all songs" on the phone.

1st gen showing genius mix covers for regular albums in cover flow

This problem recently happened. On my cover flow for albums, the covers for genius mixes are displayed for some albums, even though they have the correct album art in itunes. By genius mix covers i mean like the four squares with a different album in them. I don't understand. I already turned off genius thinking it had something to do with it but it's still happening. It started with only two albums but now it's spreading like a virus.

I have the same problem. The wrong art only shows up for me when I'm on the iPod in Cover Flow. On iTunes Cover Flow the artwork is right. I tried deleting the album art for one such album, but the Genius Mix album still shows up on the iPod Cover Flow. I disabled Genius, and it did not fix it. I'm now about to restore my iPod and re-sync it to see if that solves it.

When I try to scroll through my genius mixes it freezes up and shuts down my music app. What can I do?

Whenever I try an scroll through my genius mix, every single time I get to Urban Cross over my music app freezes up and then the whole app closes. I have tried resetting my phone and that does nothing to help. Please any help thy would get my music to work is greatly appreciated!

You could try going into settings then messages and seeing if you have it turned on. You will need to use your apple ID then, hope that helps.
