Music Folder Locked, Unable to Use ITunes...

Everytime I start up itunes it tell me the folder itunes cannot be found or created and is required. The default location for this folder is inside the music folder. However my Music Folder is locked and I tried to rearrange the permissions but i got this message : An unexpected error occurred (error code 120).

the same thing happens to me.
I've un-installed it and then re-installed numerous times, and yet it still doesn't work.
so if you find out or if anyone else does, PLEASE HELP ME!!

  • Unable to use iTunes Match

Hello everybody! Being Italian I apologise in advance for my english, if something isn't clear feel free to ask!
Now, to the problem: since two days I'm unable to use iTunes Match at all.
In the past days I was organising my library in playlists, when yesterday I noticed that some songs weren't in the playlists they were supposed to be in. I noticed also that near the Music tab there wasn't the usual empty cloud icon, but instead there was a cloud with a lightning bolt in it.
I searched and discovered that I had a connection problem. I restarted my PC and my router, only to notice that everything was the same as before I restarted the PC. I then tried to click the cloud, it became filled with the usual "barbershop pole" pattern, and then it seemed to work. When I tried to put a song in a random playlist, again the lightning bolt.
I tried to turn off iTunes Match (both with or without the Shift key), I unauthorized the PC, I logged out of my account, but to no avail. The iTunes Match "Add this computer" procedure works fine, but afterwards I cannot update any of my playlists.
Thinking that all this could be Windows-related, I tried the same with my MacBook Pro, but everything wasn't working as well. I couldn't use iTunes Match on my iPhone and on my iPod touch either.
Yesterday night, at around 11.30PM GMT+1, everything seemed to work, but having to go to university the day after I turned off the PC and went to sleep, only to find out that today we're back to square one. Nothing works on any device, when I click the lightning bolt the cloud becomes empty, but when I do something on my playlists the bolt appears again. Having said that, I don't think I have a network problem. I can connect to the internet as usual, i can use the iTunes store and the App Store and (from time to time) I can even download songs from my iTunes Match on my main PC. The playlists changes and the whole music library still don't appear on the iPhone/iPod touch and the Mac though.
I just entered in the second year of subscription to iTunes Match. Almost no problems at all for more than a year, and less than two months after I paid for the second year all this happens... I'm not very happy. I just hope someone of you has an answer, because I searched in every corner of this community but I didn't find any solutions.
Thanks in advance for your answers,
    Alessandro

Just to let everybody know, the problem disappeared totally on friday. Now everythiing works again, I lost nothing and I still can access all of my songs.
I waited a bit because you never count your chicken before they're hatched, but after three days I can cry "victory".
Thanks anyway to anybody who viewed my question and thought a possible solution for my problem!

    Help me please !
(arborescence in french, tree in english)

iTunes doesn't have any automatic way of re-creating your directory structure in terms of folders and playlists in iTunes.   You will have to drag each music folder to a playlist and then arrange these in folders inside of iTunes (which I warn you can can slow down iTunes a lot).   I guess the once chance of speeding this up will be if somebody has written an Applescript to do it, but I don't remeber seeing any anywhere.

    A Espinoza,
The iTunes Media folder is set in Preferences > Advanced, and is the key to most iTunes folder organizational activities.  So I doubt that the automatic deletion will work for files that are somewhere else within the folder structure.
However, I have not experimented with that issue in quite a while, so you are welcome to give it a try in iTunes 11.

Thanks for the welcome and the reply!
I looked at KB25882 and my settings are good, so that didn't help.
I had this problem over a year ago, and someone at RIM found a bit set that shouldn't have been set and fixed it (that is my terminology for what happened).
I am really looking for a way to contact RIM directly.  I hate going through the mill with my carrier to get it escalated to RIM for resolution......  <sigh>
    Hi mgpainter
Most easiest way to Contact RIM is through your Carrier but as you don't prefer that than there is another way of support called Incident Based Support but just want to inform you that its not free.If you want have a try  BlackBerry Incident Based Support .

  • Extra Music Folder turns up unexpectedly in iTunes Media path

Everything will seem just fine and suddenly a new Music Folder will show up in the path of my iTune library. My iTunes library preferences path looks like this /volumes/music library +(an external hard drive)/music/itunes/itunes media/music...+it is at this point that all of my music folders show up in finder. However within this list of music folder another Music Folder will show and some titles or portions of titles are transferred under this sub Music Folder again located among the artist folders. I have gone and transferred these files back into the proper position under the original Artist Folder following the original Music Folder. Sometimes it is only one or two songs that gets moved and sometimes an entire album. The path remains the same under preferences. I think it may have something to do with iTunes organizing the files but I do not know how to correct this. Help!

I am totally confused. Once again an additional Music Folder has appeared in my iTunes Library path and some items have been transferred there. Again my path is /Volumes/Music Library/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music. At this point are the Artist Folders in alphabetical order. In the Artist Folders under the M's is again a folder Music and under that two Artist Folders, one Oscar Peterson which contains a single Album Folder (of which I have three OP albums) that contains 9 out of 10 songs. This is followed by a Doors folder containing a single album folder (of 6 albums I have) with a single song. In iTunes selecting that song and Get Info it shows the same path as above but with the extra /Music on the end. I am perplexed. I am dumbfounded as to the problem and what to do.

  • I have a large music collection in My Music which is where my Itunes music is.  I use Itunes match now and possibly it is what is causing my problems but can't be sure.  I keep getting a new My Music folder when I go into itunes so I have 2. what can I do

Hi.  I have a very large my music folder on my C drive.  This is were all of my music is including itunes.  However, when I go into itunes, it sets up a new my music folder. If I erase the new folder, it comes back the next time I go into itunes.  It is just a very small folder vs. the large 132 GB file named My Music.  What is this new one and why does it keep getting generated vs. Itunes just using the large My Music folder that has all my music.  The small My Music it creates is 134 MB.  Does this have something to do with using Icloud and Itunes Match?  I find it confusing to have two my music folders.

Final Cut is a separate, higher end video editor.  The pro version of iMovie.
Give iPhoto a look at for creating the slideshow.  It's easy to assemble the photos in an album in iPhoto, put them in the order you want and then make a slideshow of them.  You can select from various themes and transitions between slides and add music from your iTunes library.
When you have the slidshow as you want use the Export button at the bottom of the iPhoto window and export with Size = Medium or Large.
Save the resulting Quicktime movie file in your Movies folder.
Next, open iDVD, choose your theme and drag the QT movie file into the menu window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Then follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
The reason I suggest iPhoto is that I find it much easier to use than iMovie (except for the older iMovie 6 HD version).  Personal preferences showing here.

  • No matter what I try - unable to use iTunes music store

My iTunes account info has my correct credit card info (expires in 2008) yet I keep getting an error message saying 'credit card is about to expire.' And that's not the case.
I emailed Apple and got their suggestion which included things like 'select NONE' in the credit card, log out, log back in and re-enter the information. I've done that a million times and still I am unable to use my active credit card to purchase music.
Yet I WAS able to do a gift iTunes certificate going through Apple's online store.
I have no idea why this problem persists. I'm using the latest iTunes, 10.4.7 - and nothing I've done makes it better.

  • Moving an iTunes Music folder that's outside of iTunes (Library) folder

My music is stored on my external hard-drive, but the iTunes folder (with the library and .xml file) is in my user "Music" folder on the main HD. I want to store more things on the external to make room on my HD, but I want to make some folders to keep the music separate first. But doing so will change the pathway. Is there a way of doing this change without losing all the track information (especially album art...that took me a LONG time to finish, I have a lot of music) ?
I guess an alternative question is...will putting other files in the same path as my music directory on my external affect iTunes in any way? Do I need to make more folders to separate the iTunes music from the non-iTunes music? Or can I lump them together as long as iTunes knows where that folder is? If this is the case, I would still like to know if the former is possible. I want it to be nice, neat, and organized : ).

Not sure if this helps your issue, but what I would do is close iTunes, then copy the entire iTunes folder to the external hard drive. Then you can use these instructions to open the library at its new location...
How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304447
Now everything is on the external. Assuming you were successful in opening it at the external location, you can now delete or reduce in size the version on your internal drive. iTunes should still be able to access the stuff that was originally in the iTunes folder as well as the stuff in other folders outside the iTunes folder on your external drive.
Since everything is now on the same drive, you could use the consolidate command to move everything together into the iTunes folder. However this will move them and sort them the way iTunes wants to organize things, so if you have a different method of organization, this will mess it up.

  • How to backup apps and music from an iphone 3g using itunes 11

Hi, my godson has been using an iPhone 3G as an iPod for music and gaming apps. I want to give him my iPhone 4 (not a 4S) and I have iTunes 11 (registered with my appleID) on my Win8 laptop. I've done a Backup of the 3G and then restored to the 4, the settings and photos "transferred" with the Restore operation, but the apps and music didn't "transfer." How do I backup (all apps and music and photos,etc.--everything on the 3G--to the iPhone 4 using iTunes 11. I think I could have done it easily with older versions of iTunes (with the "Explorer" bar on the left side of iTunes), but I can't seem to figure out how to do it with iTunes 11.
    Thanks!

  • Why would files that are in my iTunes Music folder not show up in iTunes?

Downloaded emusic.com files show up in my iTunes Music folder like usual, but iTunes doesn't seem to detect them. Then, each time I quit iTunes I receive a problem report saying iTunes quit unexpectedly.  Help?

iTunes is a data base manager and as noted needs a reference.
If I am adding tunes not purchased from the iTS then I d/l to a folder on my Desk Top then as noted 'Add to Library'.
I also have the iTunes prefs>Advanced>copy .... option enabled. This way iTunes will copy the tune into iTunes and then you can delete the Desk Top copy.
