Hi there, I have synced my iphone to my computer. Bookmarks, contacts, and ical from phone to computer. Worked great..... But.... how do I get my music, movies and photos from my iphone to the computer? When I try to sync this it tells me it will erase my library from my iphone. I don't want to lose this info.

Only music that has been purchased from the iTunes store (be it on your comp or on the iPhone) can be transfered from iPhone to computer.
Its under the file > transfer purchases.

Make sure you phone is logged into the Apple ID you used to purchase this music in Settings>Store. If it isn't, tap the ID shown, sign out, then sign back in with the ID you used. You should then be able to see your purchased music on your phone in iTunes>Purchased>Music. Also be sure you computer is auhorized for this ID in iTunes>Store>Authorize this computer.

Wjosten ... sorry to push in to this discussion ... but I have a related music question ... and thought you might be able to answer.
I know iOS does not enable audio files to be attached to text messages. I assume this is to prevent illegal sharing of songs. But who is actually saying 'no.' Is it the music owners (studios and publishers) who fear they will lose control of copyrighted songs (a la Napster)? Or is it Apple protecting the iTunes business. Or both. I wouldn't blame either ... they are just protecting their IP. I'm just curious. I wonder if the music companies suddenly decided to allow some kind of music file sharing via text messages ... would Apple (and Google) go along and enable such sharing on smartphones and devices ??

The iPhone is not a storage/backup device.
You should copy everything from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

I am really not sure where to ask this.
I am transferring my music from my iphone to my computer because it seems a lot of my songs on my computer have disappeared over the last few years. There is a folder for the band, but the music is all gone. My phone has all of it. So to make it easy I got Sharepod to transfer the music. It has fixed some of the problem, but there is still about 4 gigs of music on my phone, that does not transfer over. I know that sharepod could be the problem (even tho I don't know how the music disappeared in the first place). Does anyone have any kind of answers, or a better method to transfer my music. My backup hdd recently failed so the iphone is my only option.
I am truely sorry for asking here, but I am running out of places to ask.

Music should never disappear from an iTunes library unless you are having HDD problems. So I would start by resolving that problem.
Was the music all downloaded from iTunes, or does it come from multiple sources? If it is all iTunes you can restore it to your computer by connecting the phone and choosing "Transfer purchases" from the iTunes File menu. If it is from multiple sources then you need an iPhone file browser. I am not familiar with Sharepod, so I don't know if it is the problem or not. I have heard good things about TouchCopy.

After a good experience with my iPhone 3 and buying an iPad, I decided to go 100% Apple and switch from PC to and iMac. I cannot move my music from my iPhone to my iMac. Is there a way to sync the phone to move the music to my new computer? I did not buy the music from iTunes, but loaded 200 CDs manually into my PC several years ago. I would hate to have to do that again.

This is not a feature of the iPhone and iTunes. The iPhone is NOT a backup device.
There are 3rd party utilities that can do what you want.

For non-iTunes purchased music you'll have to use a third-party tool. Google for "iphone music copy" for options. For iTunes purchased content just choose "Transfer purchases..." from the File menu in iTunes.

While you can transfer music purchased from iTunes from your phone to your computer, (File>Transfer Purchases), Apple makes no provision for you to transfer other music you obtained from other sources, like ripping CDs. Synching is ONE way--computer to the phone. The phone was NEVER intended to be a storage device.

If it's iTunes purchased music then File > Devices > Transfer Purchases should copy them over. First, stop typing in all caps. It is considered SHOUTING and is perceived as rude, which may explain why such a simple question has gone unanswered for as long as it has.
You cannot use an iPhone to transfer music to another computer. You have to add the music collection to the new computer the same way you did to the old computer. Any iTunes purchases are still available via your Apple ID. But any music added from other sources (such as CDs) have to be transferred to the new computer using another method, not the iPhone.
