Music from iPod library through Mac iTunes to wireless??

I have over 400 audio CDs downloaded into the iTunes library on my Macbook Pro.  I have also synched these to my iPod classic (160 GB).  I can use the iPod on the airplane, in the car, in the hotel through their connection to their ampifier/speaker, etc.  When I travel on business, I take my Macbook Pro with me.  I want to leave my iPod with my wife to plug into her Macbook and play music from this library through iTunes on her Macbook wirelessly to the home speaker system (using airport express devices and our LAN).  But, the Macbook does not seem to allow this to happen!  It will also not allow me to synch (download) the personal CDs that are on the iPod onto her computer.
Does anyone have a suggested solution?  Thanks.

iTunes syncing is generally in one direction only, from the computer's iTunes library to the iPod.  Except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store, you cannot transfer song files from iPod to computer using iTunes (whether that computer is your computer or another computer).  There are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer, but I think you just want to play songs off the iPod, not transfer the song files to her MacBook.
For playing songs off of the iPod, the reason it does not work is probably because the iPod is currently set to automatically sync to your MacBook's iTunes library.  If you set the iPod to Manually manage music [and videos]. I think you will be able to play songs off the iPod using iTunes.  That setting is on the iPod's Summary screen in iTunes.  However, if you set it that way, iTunes will no longer automatically sync changes to your iTunes library to the iPod.  Going forward, you will have to add new songs manually (and also remove songs manually)

Some of the information below has subsequently appeared in a document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.

For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

  • Can't fuse music from iPod to new PC iTunes Library - please help!!

I recently moved to a new country and transferred all my music on my iPod. Just bought a new PC and installed my iTunes, but can't figure out how to get my iPod music onto my Library. Please help, I'm getting frustrated!!!

Apparently, you open the music folder from your iPod drive (after it's been connected), then highlight all the files from the iPod folder and drag them to your My Music folder and import the folder to My Library. Don't forget to enable view of hidden files beforehand. Takes a little while, depending on how much music you have on your iPod.

  • How to get musics from iPod back to mac, how to get musics from iPod back to mac

how to get musics from my Ipod nano back to my mac ?
I mean, using apple approved or suggested softwares.

    Hey there,
There are several ways you can pull the music off your iPod and onto iTunes.
There is a very direct method, which I personally prefer, but there are also numerous third party applications, which will help you accomplish the task as well. The link below provides step-by-step instructions for the direct method as well as a few third party applications if you choose to go that route instead.
It would also be a good idea to re-authorize your computer if you have any purchases from the iTunes store. Hope this helps.

  • Changed from PC to Mac and would like to have the music from ipod on my mac

Hi, I hope someone can help me with this. I used my iPod on a PC, now I have a Mac. I opened I-Tunes and it says that my iPod was connected to a different bibiothek and if I want to reset it so that the bibliothek from the Mac can be installed. I said no, because on my iPod I have lots of Songs that i dont want to have deleted. So is there a way I can get the songs from my ipod on the Mac and ad them to the new ones????
Thanks in advance for any help.

This seems like the most useful. Its a program called iPodRip, I used it a while ago when I accidentally erased my music, it copies the songs from your iPod to your computer, again I don't know if it'll work with a PC formatted iPod, but I seem to remember my friend using it for a situation like yours. Here's the link to download it, first 8 uses or so are free, but then it costs $15 to buy:
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/20083
or if that link doesn't work,
    http://www.veriontracker.com/
then find it on the site from their
    Hope that helped

  • Transferring music from iPod to new Mac

The music on my iPod was purchased through my ex-husband's iTunes account. If I transfer purchases from my iPod Nano to my new computer, it asks for his account information. Is there a way to transfer the songs I purchased through his account to my computer, and my new iTunes account? Also, if not, is there any way I can keep from losing what I already have on my iPod the next time I sync it with my computer?

To prevent a sync when plugging in the iPod/iPhone - hold down the 'option' and the 'command' keys when plugging in the iPod/iPhone - key the keys down until the iPod/iPhone is listed under the Devices list in iTunes - this will prevent a sync from taking place and you will be able to change your settings.
As noted - to play the content that has DRM you will need to authorize the Mac.

  • How to transfer Music from iPod to Computer/Windows/Mac

I want to transfer iPod music to my mac, because iPod memory is not enought to use, whether I need a tool to help me to transfer music from iPod to my mac, because apple devices is not allowed to direct transfer music from ipod to mac, whether you have some good idea? Please help me!!!thanks!

1.The first thing you want to do is connect your iPod to your computer via the white USB cable.
2.After your iPod is connected, open My Computer, or just Computer from the start menu and look for the iPod drive. It should be in the (F:drive. You will see the iPod logo in the listing of disk drives.
3.If you are using Windows 7: Open the iPod drive and click on ORGANIZE. Then folder and search options tab. Then View and Show hidden files and folders.
If you are using Windows XP, open the iPod drive and click tools then Folder options then View tab then click show hidden files and folder. Finally click Apply.
4.Now you should have a new folder called ipod_control. Open that folder up and you should see the following: Calendar, Contacts, ipod_control, notes, photos, ect. If you are trying to save all of your music then the ipod_control folder is the only one you need to worry about.
5.Open the ipod_control folder then open the music folder. Copy each one of those folders (should look similar to these: F00, F01 ...) onto your computer. You can do this by creating a new folder on your desktop and dragging the files into the folder.
6.Open iTunes and insert the new folder you created on your computer's desktop into: library ---> Music
You can now transfer music from your iPod to this new computer with out losing all of your music.
    Hope it can help you.

  • How to get music into iPod library other than with iTunes?

I am using an iPhone video editing app and want to add music to the clips. The option presented is to "add music from iPod library. I am presently traveling abroad and do not have my MacBook to sync music into my iPhone. There is tons of free music available online but the question is how to get any of it into my iPod library. I've tried a third party "download" app but it stores music inside the app, not in the iPod library. Are the only ways to put music in my iPod library either 1) sync from my MacBook or 2) buy from iTunes store? or are there other options?
    Thanks much.

The Jazz website you showed had Real audio files, and these won't be able to be played in the iPod app anyway.
But there are options for websites with mp3s.
There are apps that can play mp3s and make playlists, and some that can download music from legit websites and then play it.
Do a search for "mp3 play download" in the itunes store.
I have never needed one, but there are a few there that seem to offer what you are asking.
Theuy won't add the music to the ipod app, but they play themselves so that might be what you are looking for.
