Music Identification program

A little new and I've been searching but no luck.  My frient has an iPhone that all she has to do is click a button, hold up her iPhone, and it tells her what song is playing, the artist, etc.  Is there a program similar to this for a BB Curve?  And not the Nobex Radio Companion - all that does is give me the playlist of my local radio stations - something I can do by going to their sites.
Any help would be appreciated.

hello, it is called Shazam. It's free for iPhones users. For other mobile phone users, it is also available as soon as they can install Java applications (jad/jar).

  • Safe to run music production programs via vm fusion?

    Hello hello,
I have been running a windows-only music production progam via bootcamp for a couple months, but I'm frankly tired of having to reboot all the dang time and I'm worried frequent restarts is not healthy for the computer.  So, I want to try vm fusion to run this program on windows concurrently with whatever else I'm running on osx.  However, because music produciton programs tend to suck up a lot of the cup power...is this a good idea, given the fact that vm fusion will essentially allocate one core to windows and the other to osx?  Or do I have the wrong idea of how cpu is allocated via vm fusion?
I'm using the 2.7 Ghz dual-core i7 mac book pro (early 2011 model).  The music program I mentioned is FL Studio 9 XL Producers Edition.
Thanks for any help in this confusing topic : )

Try it. Seeing as you already have Windows installed using Boot Camp, just download the free trial of Fusion and tell it to use your Boot Camp installation of Windows as the target OS. You don't even have to re-install Windows.
If it works for you buy the license and continue using it. If it does not work for you don't buy the kicense and uninstall Fusion. You don't have to change anything with respect to your Boot Camp installation.

  • Can Adobe make a music making program?

Hello, I love Adobe and all of their products. However, there isn't a music making program. Can Adobe please make a program like GarageBand or Mixcraft? If Adobe makes a program like that, then it would be awesome. Thank you

  • Need a recommendation for Mac music management program

Can anyone recommend a good music management program for the Mac that will allow me to tag and rename all my mp3 files in bulk mode? Thank you.

Search one of the compendium sites such as MacUpdate for "MP3 tag". You'll find a number of possible options, one of which may work for you.

  • Is there a music editing program on Macs?

I was looking for a music editing program on my Mac but the closest thing I could find was Garage Band, but that is for pod casts not music.
Do Macs come with a program that can edit music (or audio) and if so, then what's the name of the program? If they don't, can you download one from the Apple site?

    Seems like these too;

  • What slideshow with music maker program will run on Mac Powerbook G4?

What slideshow with music maker program will install and run on my Mac Powerbook G4 1.5.8 1.33 GHz OSX  laptop? Or are there any out there, I know my system is old but it's all I got for now.

There are many ways to produce slide shows using iPhoto, iMovie or iDVD and some limit the number of photos you can use (iDVD has a 99 chapter (slide) limitation).
If what you want is what I want, namely to be able to use high resolution photos (even 300 dpi tiff files), to pan and zoom individual photos, use a variety of transitions, to add and edit music or commentary, place text exactly where you want it, and to end up with a DVD that looks good on both your Mac and a TV - in other words end up with and end result that does not look like an old fashioned slide show from a projector - you may be interested in how I do it. You don't have to do it my way, but the following may be food for thought!
Firstly you need proper software to assemble the photos, decide on the duration of each, the transitions you want to use, and how to pan and zoom individual photos where required, and add proper titles. For this I use Photo to Movie. You can read about what it can do on their website:
    http://www.lqgraphics.com/software/phototomovie.php
(Other users here use the alternative FotoMagico:  http://www.boinx.com/fotomagico/homevspro/ which you may prefer - I have no experience with it.)
Neither of these are freeware, but are worth the investment if you are going to do a lot of slide shows. Read about them in detail, then decide which one you feel is best suited to your needs.
Once you have timed and arranged and manipulated the photos to your liking in Photo to Movie, it exports the file to iMovie  as a DV stream. You can add music in Photo to Movie, but I prefer doing this in iMovie where it is easier to edit. You can now further edit the slide show in iMovie just as you would a movie, including adding other video clips, then send it to iDVD 7, or Toast,  for burning.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how professional the results can be!
To simply create a slide show in iDVD 7 onwards from images in iPhoto or stored in other places on your hard disk or a connected server, look here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1089
All above suggestions will work on a PPC Mac running Leopard.

  • I have just taken delivery of a brand new 15" macbook pro, tried migration assistant from a time machine backup, music, photos, programs etc. They now take up 350gb of my hard drive but the files are nowhere to be found? can anyone help?

Set migration assistant to run whilst on a lunch break, given that it needed 2 hours or so, when i returned all programs and applications had moved across from my time machine backup of a now dead 15"macbook pro 2009 edition running snow leopard...When i look at my new system information it shows my new 500gb drive is full of music, movies and photos and has only 168gb free, not enough to run a new migration and i don't have any boot disks for Lion so really don't want to erase the hard drive. To compound the problem i'm in Vietnam where there isn't a genius bar just around the corner, or even an aasp within 700km - what should I do?

Is the HDD in the 2009 15" MBP dead?  (The original source of your data)  If not, you might want ot take it out and put it in an enclosure.
You might try spotlight on know files to see if that gives you any clues where your data is located.
You might down load from the Internet OmniDiskSweeper (free) and open it.  It should show you all of the files you have on your MBP and enable to locate them.
    Ciao.

  • Organizing music and program explanat

Hello,I just got a Creative Zen M (30gb) and had a few questions.() can someone explain the three different programs that got downloaded: organizer, manager, media source...(2) A bunch of my songs got synchronized already onto my MP3, but if i would like to fix some of the names (like some have the artist misspelled, or the track is just a # or has the artist in it) essentailly i would like to fix my library, how and where do i do this? As well, when i replug my MP3 player back in will it automatically adjust the music i have on my MP3 player to my corrected version? or do i have to delete everything and start from scratch?I appreciate?any help, thank you!

The Library can be sorted by any of the headings at the top of the list (artist, title, etc.). To sort in CD order, click on the Album heading. By the way, in case you haven't used this yet, the Browse mode (Edit->Show browser) allows you to quickly navigate between artists and albums (same rule for sorting).
If clicking the album heading does not give you the CD order, then it's a problem with the track numbers in teh ID3 tags. Open the get info window and amke sure the track numbers are set to the order on the CD.
I haven't used videos yet in iTunes, but there's been a lot people here complaning that they can't "organize" their videos into Apple's categories. Apparently the info that iTunes uses is not user-editable so basically iTunes can only organize videos bought from the iTMS (where they are properly "categorized"). Videos you bring in yourself into iTunes can't be classified. Look up video and you'll see a bunch of threads on this topic. I haven't read them lately, maybe someone has come up with an answer.

  • Music writing program similar to MusicMaker

Years ago when I had my 512k Mac I used a program called MusicMaker (I think). Easy to use, no manual required, it would play written music in up to four parts, and print it on my imagewriter. I thought it was a wonderful program. So much so that I think I might fire up my FatMac (it still goes) and use it.
But, I'm really looking for something similar to run on my G5, and preferably freeware/shareware. I only want to do simple things, mostly just writing out music for playing on a recorder, but up to four parts might come in useful. From Version Tracker I've obtained this list of programs that may be suitable, but before I spend several hours opening and playing around with them, I thought I'd ask here for advice to save me a bit of time.
    Any comments on these programs?
    • Melody Assistant
    • Finale Notebook
    • Lilypond
Are there any others that may fit the bill?

Finale Notebook is nice ("free" means in exchange for your address and email address in this case) but is probably too restricted for you.
If you take your time into this equation, none of the programs is free. When you want more and you want to take all your work and time into a new software later, you will get a problem if you have chosen a program that exports only MIDI.
That's the reason why I compiled this list: http://www.music-notation.info/en/compmus/compare.html
Click on a program and you will see how you can read your scores in other programs. Be careful, not every conversion is equally successful.

  • Gracenote Music ID Program and traveling to Italy-recharging pla

I got a Creative Zen Vision 30 for Christmas and so far I love it. I do have one problem that I hope someone can answer for me. When I go to rip a CD to transfer to my player Gracenote Music ID Service pops up and I have tried to use this program and I get a message saying "Socket Open failed"--I have no idea what this means. I am getting tired of entering by hand the infomation for the CD's. Then I have another question. In May I am going to Italy for about three weeks and plan to take my player with me. Is there a way to connect the player to something in the plane so that I am not running the battery down? I have the Creative Wall Socket recharger-can I safely use this with a converter to recharge my player in Italy? The converter specifically says to use only with products that produce heat such as curling irons, hair dryers, travel irons. Is there another type converter that is specifically designed to be used with delicate instruments such as computers, radios, CD players or MP3 players? BTW, I will have access to a laptop so I can always use this to recharge my player. Thanks for any help that anyone can give me. Bev

  • Ipod nano 6g music and programs skip fwd or back

Not sure if the screen is getting accidently touched or not, but podcasts and music behave as though rewind or next program has been entered on the touch screen.  This happens if it's in my pocket or clipped to pants waist, etc.  Is there a way to desensitize the screen, or lock it once I'm starting to play a podcast?  This is really annoying.

I have the Same problem we always have this with tech in our house! I came to find this problem after using a faulty socket box, I hadn't noticed that while my iPod was charging in my Belkin USB Adaptor that the Red Light on the Adaptor was flashing (Power On and Off) consistently because of the power not getting through to my adaptor, so while reading my tech magazine there was a rather loud 'BANG' so as you do you go and have a look so I pushed my charger in to the socket harder and the light did not come up on my iPod or my Adaptor meaning that something was wrong with the adaptor... So I checked my iPod and it would not switch on or do anything for that matter!
Please help me on this one guys, i'm not usually the one struggling with tech!

  • Skipping/Freezing Of Music And Programs. Video Also Skips.

For the last few day I've been having problems with my computer. I have a Pavillion dv7-4177nr Entertainment Notebook. The problem I've been having is that no matter what program I use to play music through (Like mp3 files) I get a skipping like problem and eventually if it gets bad enough the program starts to freeze and then I have to hold the power down to reset the computer which really sucks. So far to fix this problem I've tried everything I can think of as well as what little I've found on the internet that others suggested. But nothing has worked thus far. So far I've uninstalled the drivers and updated them, turned off 3d hard drive protection, downloaded this program called dcp checker which had no spikes when playing music or videos, re downloaded and installed the bios update, Updated everything else that needed to be updated, hard reseted the computer, cleaned up the registry and defraged the computer, checked the hard drive with all the different checks they had, and I think that was about it. Videos that I stream tend to skip every once in awhile and so does the sound. Its starting to become very annoying and I'd much rather not have to factory default my computer. I can't go back to a previous date in system restore cause I clean up my computer every couple months to free up space that isn't needed. I know its not my ram for I have 6GB's of RAM and my HDD is barely even half full. I checked for viruses and spyware and malware and came up with nothing but cookies. which is usual. I can't help but think that this problem started when SP1 was issues for Windows 7 (64 bit) cause prior to that I believe that there was no skipping in sound and video. I also tried turning off my wifi driver to see if that would work which it didn't. I know this is a long message but there was a lot that was never answered and never an actual solution to the problems which myself and other people were and are having. I've also turned off the enhancements for the sound to see if that would work to which it didn't. If anybody has a solution other than factory defaulting my computer please let me know. Thank you in advance.

I must say this card combined with 5. speakers set up with everything enabled sounds awesome. I had absolutely no problems with crackiling or popping and muy board is an asus A-8 based one in an HP 939 set up....Anyway to be a bit cleare, What Id like to know is should I set things like dolby digital and other digital stuff by ear? I do it either way it seems to make zero difference,,,,If I enable it or not...Stereo expand on cmss is anotherr one,,,Do i enable that or put it on surround? None of these things are to easy for me, I can mess with most computer settings but am lost when it comes to sound....Just looking for basic advice that does not come in the manual.

  • Cannot see music in programs besides iTunes

I changed from an XP computer to a Windows 7 and copied all of my songs from the My Music folder from the old hard drive. My iPod plays fine, iTunes recognizes the songs and playlists, but when I use WMP 12, the device is not recognized at all, and in RealPlayer, the iPod is recognized but it says "(Internal)" after the name, and I cannot see the songs and playlists, though it recognizes that the iPod is half full.
When I go to Explorer, the music folder is empty. I can only see the songs by right clicking and selecting "Open as Portable Device" and finding the music folder within the iPod_Control folder. If I drag the music up to the first music folder, it duplicates the file and takes up space, (as if the iPod is partitioned), but then I can see the song in RealPlayer.
Any suggestions before I give up and click "Restore" in iTunes? I know I could simply do that, but it's the principle. Thanks!
PS - "Enable disk usage" is already checked, I've stopped and restarted Apple Mobile Service and I've been in and out of disc mode.
