I upload a podcast each week using Podcast Maker. When I search the iTunes Store to determine if the most recent one is listed all the podcasts are in random order. This week's is #14; last week's is #1. Any ideas how to correct this? The odd thing is that when you try to subscribe to the podcasts, they are listed in the proper order.

    Many thanks.
With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:
Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
(If there's a SpeedBit LSP showing up in Autoruns, it's usually best to just uninstall your SpeedBit Video Accelerator.)

  • Photos are in random order

I transferred my iPhoto library from my old Mac G5 to my new Mac, and the photos are in random order.  The dates on some photos are wrong and I can't change them.  Any ideas?

N ot unless you tell us more
How exactly did you "transfer your photos"?
The dates are wrong - where are you seeing this? - You can not change them - how are you trying to change them?
We know nothing except what youo tell us so details adn work flows are critical to being able to help

  • Photos on iPod touch in random order

I have my photos all in order on IPhoto on my MacBook Pro, but when I view them on my IPod Touch, the events folder is in a very random order. How do I view my events photos on my IPod Touch in the same order as on my MacBook Pro, i.e. alphabetical / number order?

They are sorted on the iPod by the modification date of the photos. To sort them the whay you want you can change the modification dates on the Mac and then sync or:

  • Photos uploaded are in random order in my flickr photostream

When I use flickr feature to upload multiple photos, upload starts in parallel and results is that those photos showing in random order in my flickr photostream. How can I line up my photos in photostream in the same way I arranged photos in iPhoto? They are ordered as expected within flickr "sets" but I want to have my photos also arranged in expected order in photostream. Both Flickr Uploadr and jUploadr are capable of doing this so I expect the same with iPhoto.

I have the same problem too. In iPhoto '09 the built in export to flickr feature results in my flickr photostream appearing random.
Dear iPhoto '09 Product Managers-- *For users posting group events this is not the expected outcome at all.*
Very bad bug, Apple needs to fix this error.
It's almost false advertising that this '09 feature is helpful at all, it's actually worse than tools that have been around since 2007.
I'm going back to using the stand alone application from Flickr: Flickr Uploadr.

Apple, please fix this major bug!

  • OData results in random order

When I do certain OData queries, the results in the Excel worksheet are in random order. In the Power Query preview they are ordered correctly and in PowerPivot they are also ordered correctly. How does Power Query decide how to order rows? And why is
    it reordering them?

By default, we attempt to download OData feeds in parallel by issuing multiple simultaneous requests for different ranges of the data. When this happens, we don't try to reorder the data when it comes back. Because the return order of the requests is nondeterministic,
it's possible and even likely that the original sort order is lost.
Setting the third parameter to false disables parallel requests, which restores determinism to the data being fetched.

Have you tried creating a playlist for your album, then
    select the playlist in iTunes.
    right-click the playlist name -> select +copy to play order+. -> sync.

  • Music tracks playing in random order!

I am seeing a problem whereby album and/or playlist tracks are being played in random order. The problem is affecting both my iPhone and ipod Nano and seemed to start fairly simultaneously onboth devices. This isn't like using Shuffle - after listening to 1 or 2 tracks in an album or playlist random tracks are being played from elsewhere in my music library. The problem doesn't occur when listening to albums or playlists on my Macbook. I'm running iTunes 8.0.2 on my Macbook.
Appreciate any advice from anyone that may have seen a similar problem!

Does sound like Shuffle to me. Even if you are not hitting the Shuffle (words at top of playlist), if you ever did, what that really did is just turn shuffle on.
Go play any song. Then tap center screen on the album. Another set of controls appears near top. Repeat, Progress and Shuffle. Blue is on, white is off.

  • How can I make a playlist play on my iPod in random order?

I have made a playlist on my computer in iTunes. The songs are now in alphabetical order by song title, and when they play on my iPod they play in that same alphabetical order.
Is there a way that I can make the songs in the playlist play in some other order? Preferably, just a random order?
Or, is there a way that I can arrange them in iTunes that is not in alphabetical order and have them stay in that non-alphabetical order?
    Thanks!

Just go to Settings, Shuffle, then turn it to Songs. The songs will stay in the same order in the playlist, but they'll switch it up.

  • Listing music on ipod in order of date modified as the same as in itunes.

Hi, I want to have my music organized in order of date modified on my ipod as it can be done in my itunes library. The music is need to be in order but every time I transfer it re-organizes them so that they are not in order and it really screws it up!
I've tried everything and nothing seems to work?
    Please help!
I have a ipod classic 120gb bought 2 years ago.

Put the songs you are talking about into a playlist. Sort the playlist by Date Added. Right-clcik the playlist name and choose "Copy to Play Order," and then sync your iPod.

  • I have 160gb of music on my Classic, 6th Gen (I think) I've just bought it. Is it possible for it to play my songs in a random order, one or two from different albums?

To add to what Stonerock has mentioned, you can either create Playlists in your iTunes Library, containing exactly what you want, and then Sync them to your iPod, or you can use the iPod Classic's On-The-Go feature.
Reading between the lines, I'm going to assume for now that you want to be able to create your preferred listening list while "out and about" - so not near your iTunes library. (You have posted in iPod Classic, after all.) You can do this with the On-The-Go Playlist.
Look in the Playlists menu on the iPod. It probably contains the Recently Added, Recently Played and other pre-made Playlists that you see in your iTunes Library. At the bottom of the Playlists list, is the On-The-Go showing 0 Songs. Scroll down to it and press the Select (centre) button. The screen will give you instruction on adding songs to the On-The-Go Playlist.
Basically, if you press-and-hold the Select (centre) button, while highlighting a song, the song title will blink as it is added to the On-The-Go Playlist. Try it, then go back to Playlists/On-The-Go and notice that it will now say 1 Song. (Note, you cannot add a "now playing" song to the On-The-Go Playlist.) Repeat this for every song you want to have in the list. You can also look in the Albums menu, highlight the album title and press-and-hold that to add the complete album to your On-The-Go Playlists with one press. So if you add the two albums to your On-The-Go Playlist, you can then listen to just those two albums.
To shuffle the songs, turn on Shuffle on your iPod. Either, go into Settings/Shuffle and press the Select button to toggle between Off/Songs/Albums, or on the Now Playing screen, press the Select button three times to reach the Shuffle option, where you use the scroll wheel to move between Off/Songs/Albums, press the Select button to activate it.
Having added songs to the On-The-Go Playlist, go into it and notice the list of songs and options to Save Playlist (New Playlist 1) or Clear Playlist. If you use Sync to manage your iPod (and that really is the best way by the way), the next Sync will transfer any unsaved On-The-Go and any New Playlist Xs that you have, back to your iTunes Library. You can even remove any song from the current On-The-Go Playlist by highlighting it (in the On-The-Go, obviously) and press-and-holding the Select button.
If you need assistance in creating a Playlist in your iTunes Library, please ask.

  • When adding audio books to ipod either manually or by syncing, the tracks seem to be in the right order but they play back in a random order which means you can't listen to the book. How do you overcome this? (Bill)

I have tried adding audio books to my ipod classic, both by syncing and manually. The tracks come up in the right order in the menu but when listening they will often play (not always) in a random order. How do I overcome this, as it is making listening to books impossible.  (Tarraganda)

I have found the problem myself when I got into the Settings. Somehow it had been put onto shuffle all music files and once I turned that off it reverted to normal. I realised something basic was wrong when our other ipod that had been synced at the same time didn't have a problem. However, I had put all the books on manually, one album at a time as problems occurred when syncing the whole library, including multiple albums for the same piece of music.

  • Playlist burns copies in random order ruining the musics tracking order

  • Photos in events are suddenly in random order

Suddenly, many of my events has their photos in what seems to be a random order. This is true for both my iPhone 4 and iPad 3. gen. The order in iPhoto on my Mac is as I have set it to be, by date.
What I have tried so far:
    - Deleting the "iPod photo cache" folder, and resyncing all the pictures
This is not the first time the Photos app on my iOS devices acts weird. Ever since a couple of years ago all the thumbnails of the events has been set to the first photo of the event.
    Any suggestions?

I have the same problem using iPhoto 11 and iPad first generation (ios5). Pictures are sorted in chronological order in albums in iPhoto, but on the iPad they are grouped into Horizontal and vertical orientation. Horizontal oriented pictures comes first in the albums in reverse chronological order, vertical oriented pictures comes after in chronological order!
