Music in iTunes Speeds Up When Certain Programs Run

Like the title says, sometimes, when I run certain programs and iTunes simultaneously, the music in iTunes starts to automatically play as if in fast-forward, but as soon as I close the program, the music starts playing fine again. Is there a solution besides the obvious one of not running the two programs simultaneously?

I'm having the same problem with my nano. Podcasts will sometimes play normally, and other times will be sped up and play much faster than normal. I've set the Audiobooks setting to "Normal" as opposed to "Fast" but it doesn't make any difference. And it's inconsistent...I was listening to a podcast at normal speed and paused it, and the next day when I went to resume it, it played at the fast speed. Any ideas here?

What country are you in ? If you aren't in the US and the address on your account isn't in the US then try going to the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app on your iPad and tap on your account id, tap on 'View Apple ID' on the popup and log into your account, and then select the Country/Region section and select your country.

My JDBC program basically needs two command line args. Rabge_Start_Dt and Range_End_Dt. for ex:
2001-05-31 and 2001-06-01 . And my porgram should run every day. Next day the date range will be 2001-06-01 to some date. It means I have to store some how the range_end_dt and pass it as range_start_dt when my program runs the next day.
Problem:
How can I store the Data variable and pass it as an argument to my porgram when It runs next time. Every time my pogram runs It should pick the range start_dt (==range_end_dt of the previuos run) and end_dt I have to go and query some other data base and pass that value to it.

save the value in a file, then read it back in each day. Similar to when a process needs a PID.

Can I use my music in iTunes as ringtones for certain contacts?

I have the iphone5 and I can't see where I can use my iTunes music as ringtones for contacts. Is this possible or do I need to get an app to do that? Also does anyone know of a good ringtone app that you can use your music from iTunes? I already downloaded a ringtone maker but I have the new iTunes and I could not get it to work!! Thanks...

1. In your Music library, select a song you want to convert to ringtone
2. Right-click on the song and select “Get Info” to view the song properties.
3. Select “Options” tab. Fill in the “Start time” and “Stop time” to extract the portion of song you want to create as ringtone. From what I know, the length of custom ringtone should not be longer than 40 seconds. Otherwise, iTunes will not recognize it as a ringtone. When you are ready, click “OK” to confirm.
4.Next, right-click on the song and select “Create ACC Version”.
5. iTunes then automatically extracts the portion of song you have instructed in the previous step. The new song file is just 40-sec in length. This is the song file you’ll work on from step 6 and onwards.
6. Next, right-click on the song and select “Show in Finder”. This opens up Finder and locate the song file you just created.
Note: For Windows user, you should choose “Show in Windows Explorer” instead.
7. As you can reveal from Finder, the song file is in .m4a extension and we’ll change it to “.m4r”, which is the file extension for tones. Rename the file extension from “.m4a” to “.m4r”. For Mac users, select “Use .m4r” when prompted.
8. Go back to iTunes. Right-click on the song you have created (i.e. the 40 sec version) and select “Delete” to delete the song.Click “Delete Song” to confirm the deletion and then click “Keep File” when you?re prompted. This tells iTunes to delete the song (the 40 sec version) from music library and keep the actual file.

Go back to Finder and double-click on the ringtone file (.m4r) you have just renamed.
11. The ringtone will automatically add it to the “Tones” library in iTunes. You can now sync it to iPhone as a ringtone or text tone. Enjoy!

ITunes stops downloading when other programs are running

I noticed recently that as soon as I open any other programs while iTunes is running in the background, it stops downloading music. Any suggestions?

When you say "downloading music", do you mean downloading music to your iPod, or importing music from CDs, or something else?
Also, with other applications closed by iTunes opened, launch your Task Manager, and go to the "Processes" tab.
Watch these three processes: iTunes.exe, iPodService.exe, and iTunesHelper.exe.
Now, try launching some other application.
Do either of those three processes in any way disappear, then reappear again, or anything similar? Or do they stay fine and the same when you open another program?

Quicktime almost dies when certain programs are open alongside it

I download video podcasts in iTunes. When I go to play them (either in iTunes itself or "in a new window"), they are ALWAYS choppy--both audio and video--to the point where they're just plain unwatchable.
HOWEVER, if I open that same file in the Quicktime standalone player itself, I HAVE NO PROBLEMS. So, my conclusion is that this is an iTunes/quicktime issue, not a Quicktime itself issue. It has something to do with iTunes
My whole system also freezes up during these 3 second bursts as well, with the exception of my trusty mouse.
The reason this is happening has to do with ANYTHING that has a FADE EFFECT. I do not know why, but if I right-click anywhere (producing a menu that fades in), or if I toggle my keyboard's volume up/down keys (producing a bezel that pops in but fades out), OR if I have Yahoo! Widget Engine open (which has transparency options for any widget), I seem to encounter this sputtering behavior with Quicktime.
It's frustrating to isolate the problem and have no idea why this is happening. I have reinstalled quicktime/iTunes but still the same thing happens.
Any assistance?

Can time machine be set to not back up when certain programs are open?

Yes, time machine can be turned off manually before playing games downloading a large file, etc. Is there any way for time machine to not back up while a specified game or program is open? Or is there an app that helps with this? Thanks!

Pavilion dv6 headphones stop working when certain programs launched

My pavilion dv6 (product number: A5F76AV; OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit) is brand new, just arrived yesterday. On startup, the headphones work fine when watching videos online and for any other system audio, but when I launch a game (through steam) I no longer get audio through the headphones (system reverts back to playing audio through the onboard speakers). Once this happens, no audio comes through the headphones regardless of the source, although the volume coming from the onboard speakers changes somewhat when the headphones are plugged in and unplugged.
I've tried manually downloading and installing the audio driver for my computer by going through the HP support website, but doing so did not help. I would be extremely grateful for any help that can be offered.

ITunes freezes computer when starting to run first time

iTunes 7.0.x was working fine on my new Windows Vista computer. When I started it up today I got an message to upgrade to 7.1. I installed it and when running it it freezes my computer 3/4 of the "updating library" process. The whole computer slows down tremendously and then the screen turns black with just an arrow showing. I uninstalled and reinstalled and the same problem keeps happening. For a version which was supposed to correct Vista problems, it has broken something which was running fine before

Automatic Modifiers should not repriced when reprice program runs.

My requirement is as follows,
I need to define a modifier which should applied automatically while entering ther Sales Order.
And once applied it should not be repriced (value should not ve changed) i.e even if the modifier value is changed it should not changed in the sales order line when i run reprice program.
I have tried to use different Event Phase but unable to achieve my goal.
I have raised SR, but not got any solution till now.

I'm not sure what the context of your question is but sometimes I have a similar problem where when I run my forms object it appears for a second and shuts down. I get around this by carrying out a full compile and then the forms object behaves correctly.

I've been installing iTunes several times and after launching it it stops working sending message:

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
iTunes doesn't need compatibility mode to run, but you may need to run it as an administrator.

Using music from itunes store

Hey everybody,
This is my problem: I recently purchased an audio track from iTunes Music Store, in mp4. When trying to run it on FCP, to use it in a film of mine, it turns out mute, unreadable by the application. I tried changing the extention of the music file from mp4 to mp3 or wav, but it didn't work. I also tried exporting the music file as a Quick Time Movie, but FCP still won't read it.
Can anyone help me with that?

P.S. This song is very rare, I already tried looking for a CD somewhere; there is none.

If it is "protected AAC" from iTunes, it cannot be used in FCP, iMovie, et al. iTunes will not transcode it, either, other than to burn it on a CD as AIFF (hint).
If the film is for other than your personal use, you need a synchronization license to use it with video of any type (and I'm not sure about the personal use, either, what with the Millennium Copyright act and its restriction on "reverse engineering").
