Music in slideshow restarts

I have a 28 min slideshow and plenty of songs to go the distance. The first song restarts after about 20 pictures. I deleted the song and reinserted and then replaced with another song. The same song repeats at the exact same spot each time. Any ideas? Thanks. Need this slideshow ASAP.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. None of the audio tracks are DRM tracks from the iTunes store are they?
A workaround while you're trying to find a solution is to use a 3rd party audio editing application to join the audio tracks into one new one. That way you can get rid of some of the dead air at the end of a track, do a cross fade, etc. if desired. Then use that one file with the slideshow. I use Amadeus Pro but there's a free editor available, Audacity, that can do the trick. Garageband can also if you're familiar with it.

Cannot select a music into slideshow and book slideshow presentations. In the older Mac this was easy. With new Mac OS X 10.6.8 it should work as I can stop the slideshow with cursor but pop up window for choosing music is dead. I cannot drag music into it. Preselected music just goes on.

I am talking about iPhoto. In my old Mac even in Books choosing slideshow gives a pop up where you can select a music from I tunes library. In this new one I can stop the slideshow with cursor and it shows music option but it is, as I said dead. Does not response at all to commands.

  • Can't save "Play music during slideshow" setting in iPhoto 6

    Hi,
I just bought and installed iPhoto 6 today as an upgrade to iPhoto 4. I've discovered that I'm unable to save the "Play music during slideshow" setting in the dialog which appears when I click the "Play" button from the thumbnail screen to play a slideshow. If I uncheck this checkbox and then click on the "Save Settings" button, the next time I play a slideshow, the music starts up again. The most particularly annoying thing about this problem is that I'm trying to create a slideshow that plays no music, and I have to continually uncheck the "Play music during slideshow" checkbox each time I play the slideshow. Has anyone else run into this problem, and is there a solution or workaround for it?
    Thanks,
    Ken

    Hi,
I think I've figured out what's going on here, but I don't know how to fix it. While I was playing around with the items in the "Play" dialog that appears when you initiate a slideshow, I discovered that if I uncheck the "Play music during slideshow" and then change the selection in the tree of folders underneath the checkbox, that the checkbox becomes selected. This would normally be the considerate thing to do, since if the user were making a selection in that tree, it would be rather "rude" in a software sense to not check the checkbox automatically. Unfortunately, in this case, the logic doesn't seem to be looking at the Preferences flag which (correctly, I think) is remembering that I don't want music to be played. So what I think is happening is when this dialog is first instantiated, the checkbox setting is remembered correctly. However, what happens next is that the saved selection in the folder tree is then restored, which then triggers the "a tree selection was just made, so let's check the checkbox" event. This is why if you've saved the "don't play music" setting, the checkbox is initially cleared, and then when the tree selection is set, the checkbox becomes checked. If I save the settings with the checkbox checked, the checkbox is set from the instant the dialog appears. So assuming that this is what's happening, is it possible to fix this by editing the NIB file using the Developer Tools? Or is this logic embedded in the compiled code?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • Problem playing selected music with slideshow

    Hi
I am having trouble playing music with slideshows since updating to iphoto 6. I can see all my playlists and I am able to select the playlist I want and this will play in the 'play music during slideshow' window. However, when I play the slideshow I receive an error message telling me that 'the music you have selected can't be found or can't be opened'.
This has only been a problem since updating and it doesn't matter what playlist I choose - they will all play in both iTunes and the selection screen for the slideshpw but not actually with the slideshow (the play music with slideshow box is ticked).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I am about to throw my mac out the window.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What version of Quicktime are you running? You should be at 7.1.5. If not update to it and give it another try.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

After the update iTunes keeps crashing and won't play any of my music and keeps restarting my phone.
Anyone else have this problem and resolved it?
    Thank you!

Well, I hadn't rebooted after the 7.1.1 upgrade, but obviously I had to restart iTunes. After I rebooted my iBook iTunes worked... Maybe the 7.1.1 update should be marked with a must reboot?

  • IPhoto 09.  I DON'T want music in slideshows

I recently had to get a new computer, and it came with the new version of iLife. My slideshows now all have music, whether I want them to or not. I've figured out how to make the ones I want to have music have the music I select, but can't seem to have them be silent. The "play music during slideshow" button is unchecked, but it still insists on playing music from the default list.
    How do I muzzle iPhoto?

Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    *What's the plist file?*
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

  • No music on slideshow imported from iPhoto

    Hi,
I posted the following question in the iPod discussion area and no one responded, so figure I'd give it a try here. I was able to import a slideshow from iPhoto 5.0.4 to a 20GB iPod Color. The slideshow works just fine, but am not getting the music I heard when watching the slideshow on my Mac. BTW, I did go under Settings on the iPod and select music->From iPhoto. Not sure if it makes a difference, but the music on my slideshow is the iPhoto default (Bach "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desire"). Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ron

    Hi,
Try turning the music off in the slideshow (Select: Music icon in bottom right of window, unselect play music during slideshow).
    Export the slideshow again (sorry)
Add your play list for the slide show to your ipod.
Add new slide show to your ipod
On ipod go to: Photos:Slideshow settings: Music: select your playlist from the list.
The music should play when you statr your slideshow.
    Hope this helps!

  • Can't find media when adding music to slideshow

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether your problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click  Log in.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Music for slideshows on the Touch?

Unlike my video iPod, when I look at the settings options for Photos on my iPod Touch, there are no music options. When I play my "slideshows", they are silent. The Apple support tech told me that you cannot have music for slideshows on the Touch. Can this be accurate? That seems odd to me. Anyone know if this can be done, and if so, how?

Your idea of starting the music and then starting a slideshow is a possible work-around, but still it seems like one should be able to have programmed music for a slideshow just like in iPhoto, or the video iPods.

  • Music/photo slideshow stops for no apparent reason, why?

I have two recent Apple TVs linked to Windows 7 on a blazing fast PC. On either ATV I can be watching a slideshow from iTunes and generally about 5 minutes into the show it 'disconnects.'  One fix is to restart iTunes but that isn't a fix because I cannot get through a slide show.  I have plugged, unplugged, reset routers, checked speeds, reesatblished connection with my WIFI server...so none of this has worked to keep the slide show active.
In fact, even when the slide show 'bombs' out I can go to iTunes on my computer and have music play on my sound system in the living room which indicates that the systems are connected.
I was using the ipad and iphone remotes and finally removed them from my devices when I read that they will interfere.  Really!?
    Any fixes or just commiserate...

  • Just upgraded to OSx Maverics and Iphoto 9.5 - no music during slideshow ?

Just upgraded to OSx Maverics and Iphoto 9.5 and now have no music when playing slideshows (using custom or default). All libraries worked fine before upgrade (using Lion). Any ideas?

In iTunes go File -> Library -> Organise Library -> Reorganise Library.
    Then quit and restart iPhoto.
Credit to user keysandfood who figured that one out.

  • Can't turn off music during slideshow

I have been using iPhoto for years and like it, usually.
Lately I have had trouble with the Slideshow settings (iPhoto '11, version 9.2.1, running in OS 10.7.5 on a MacBook Pro).
Basically, whatever I set (time per slide, music on or off), after clicking "Play"  the slideshow defaults to 3.0 sec per slide and music set to On.
I must be missing something somewhere.

    Thanks for the reply.
Updated iPhoto; still the same problem.
Next I restarted, deleted the iPhoto plist from my hidden Library, and restarted.
Now, iPhoto won't recognize my library; although, it is willing to import all the photos (presumably without the albums, metadata etc.).
I put the plist back into the Library and restarted, and it still doesn't recognize its old familiar library.

  • Music in slideshow starts at the beginning with last 10 photos.

I recently created a slideshow with iphoto and exported it to iDVD to burn using 5 songs that were faded in and out using Garageband. Even though i set the images to 3 seconds of viewing and to fit all images to the music, the last 10 images the music runs out and automatically goes back to the beginning of the song loop. The slideshow is only 34 mins
At first I thought I had the music loop too short, therefore I added another song to the loop making the music loop longer by 3 min but the same thing happend, the last 10 photos the music ran out and it went straight to the first song of the loop.
When I play the slideshow before buring it is fine, everything fits to the music loop but once I burn and play the DVD then my problem of the last 10 photos persists.
    Any suggestions?
    thanks

It appears that iOS 7.1 fixed this.
