Music is not showing up in iTunes

I recently replaced my hard drive and did a data migration from time machine. When I open iTunes my music is NOT there, however when I search it in the Finder I find my folder with all my music, and I can play it from there. Ideas of what went wrong. I'm stumped...

I am running Windows 7 and am having trouble with iTunes. I have updated my iTunes to 11 and my purchases are not showing up in the Library. When I do a search, the music and apps show up in the iTunes folder. I've tried re-launching iTunes and restarting my computer to no avail. Any music I do import from a CD does show up in my Library. Is there a fix to this or am I going to to have to reinstall iTunes to my computer? Please help if you can, thanks...

Figured it out, looked for the individual songs and "draged" them from the folder to the iTunes library.

My Music is NOT showing up in iTunes

I don't have a clue what I did wrong but when I open iTunes now, I don't see any of my music. I don't know whether this was created by a sync error with my iPhone but all I know is that I can't see my Music, my iPhone Apps, my Audio Books, etc, in iTunes.
I can use Finder to navigate to the music (JimReed/Documents/Dropbox/JBR-Music/iTunes) where I can see all of the music, .xml file, CoverArt folders, etc. so I know all my data is intact but when I open iTunes, I don't see any music. I have selected iTunes/Preferences/Advanced and made sure iTunes is looking in the correct place for my music but that doesn't work. I have even tried Consolidate Library, without success. Hi, I have a Classic iPod and have been having the same problems as you since Sunday i.e all of my music including playlists keep disappearing from iTunes. I am able to get it back but when iTunes is closed down it appears to be incapable of either saving it or linking back to the library. I see you have resolved your issue...has it continued to work?
My problem started with iTunes freezing and window closing the programme. Since then it is as described above. Even though I get it back it does not save playlists on my hard disk just a long list of music which means starting all over again...I am going mad!

iTunes is a data base manager and as noted needs a reference.
If I am adding tunes not purchased from the iTS then I d/l to a folder on my Desk Top then as noted 'Add to Library'.
I also have the iTunes prefs>Advanced>copy .... option enabled. This way iTunes will copy the tune into iTunes and then you can delete the Desk Top copy.

After downloading ios 7, my iphone 4 will sync but my music will not show up only itunes purchases will show up and be the only ones playing. the rest have a little red square next to them

Ive been having this problem ever since i upgraded to ios 7. I went to put new music on my iphone, and i synced my phone went to listen to my music and it either has a cloud next to it, a red square, or is there but clear and will not play. Seems that purchases from itunes are the only music that actually work. When i put my phone on shuffle, it continues to shuffle through my music until it finds a song that will actually play, which ends up being one of the purchased songs. I have a total of about 1300 songs, about 600 purchases and the rest just dont work. Please help me find what is wrong with this because it has been weeks and im going insane and really debating on switching over to a different phone brand like the new blackberry or s4, im done with apples ****.

Update - I found the iphoto cache deleted it. This did not work.... it still cannot find the photos. I then placed all the photos on my desktop and synced my phone to the folder. It found ALL the pictures on my desktop folder. I would still prefer to find a fix, so I can sync my photos to iPhoto....

The new iTunes has a somewhat different look from the previous version. You can get the old look back if you prefer it by doing View > Show Sidebar in iTunes. Or you can adapt to the new look.

I have followed instructions for transferring my iTunes library from my MacBook Pro to my iPod. The summary window shows lots of unused memory and it partly fills when I hit "sync," but then returns to nearly empty and the music does not show up on my iPod--"no music." Transferred music not showing up in iTunes library

I moved my music from a PC to Mac and now it's not showing up in iTunes. I used an external hard drive to copy all of the songs over and they are in the iTunes music folder. Is there something else I have to do to get them to show up in my iTunes library?
