Music keeps playing after I unplug headphones...

Hello,
I may have just noticed this but, when I have the apple headphones plugged in, and I stop the music from playing what happens is when I unplug the headphones and ipod starts playing music again.
Is this a common problem? Is there a work-around?
Thanks!

I'm getting almost the same problem that is really starting to bug me. It ONLY seems to happen when I'm using a different headset than the one that came with the iPhone. Since I want to cut down on the wear and tear of the stock IP headset (the one with the mike), I have been using the headset that came with my IT.
If I'm listening to the iPod music, there doesn't seem to be a problem. However, if I want to watch a youtube clip, listen to streaming radio (Tuner), etc, after only a few minutes, the iPod music starts up over the audio for whatever source I have going (youtube, etc.). This even happens in my car when I'm plugged into my Aux In.
A couple of months ago I took the IP in to see the Genius and got a load from him that dirt is causing the problem. He recommended I blow the audio port out with compressed air occasionally.
That really doesn't seem to correct this problem.
The only work-around seems to be to us the headset with the mike, but that doesn't help me in my car.
This problem occured with 2.0, 2.1 and now 2.2. I'm wondering if something is loose inside the IP and causing it to switch audio source if the IP is moved.
Today I tried turning off WiFi thinking maybe when the IP switches back and forth between WiFi and 3G, that might be causing the problem.
I also think this problem can drain the battery IF the music turns on accidently. All-in-all, I'm a bit torqued off about this.

So everytime i download a song it randomly starts playing on itunes.. how do i stop this

I think this is intentional on Apple's part. They assume that people want to listen to their freshly purchased song as soon as possible.

    - Try insering and removing the headphone plug a dozen times or so.
    - Try cleaning out the headphone jack in the iPod.
    - Resett he iPod. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restoe to factory defaults/new iPod
If yu still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem, likely a bad headphone jack. Yu can make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store to confirm.
If not underwarranty Apple will only exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for:

  • After I unplug headphones, the speakers no longer work until rebooted.  Anyone else experience this?  Also had the same issue on the Droid Razr Maxx.

Ahh. We can still help find the culprit, TeaParty14. Do you have any 3rd party applications installed to play your music? Are you able to hear any audio if you plug the headphones back into the phone instead of rebooting? Any audio for calls through the phone direct or through speakerphone?

  • Music stops playing after Bluetooth headset call

I have been using this setup since the days of iPhone 2G running v1 software. The problem has only occurred since I got my iPhone 3G running 2.0.
In my car I have a cassette adapter connected to the headphone jack and a Jabra bluetooth headset for voice calls.
I listen to a lot of podcasts in the car and music plays out happily through the car stereo. When a call comes in the music fades and I answer the call on the bluetooth headset. All works great. I then end the call and 8 of 10 times you'll hear a split second of the podcast and then it stops. The play icon disappears out of the status bar. I then have to go back in to the iPod and hit play.
I have also noticed sometimes when in the iPod app and music is playing, I hit the home button and the music will stop playing for a split second and then continue.
I have completely restored the iPhone on several occasions, sometimes even not restored the backup and started fresh. It has never gone away!
Is it the phone? Is it the bluetooth headset?
Any ideas would be gratefully received. I am happy to replace the BT headset if people think it will help but do not wish to buy one unnecessarily.

It's neither your specific phone nor your BT headset. It's a plain, old-fashioned bug.
You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.
    (there's a Bug Report category)
I have the same thing occur frequently with Apple's BT headset (it has persisted across two iPhones and two Apple BT headsets).

  • Music still playing after turning device off

Hello I've got a curve 9300 3g os6, and when I play music on it and decide to switch the device off, the music still plays even though the device is switched off, could you please tell me what could be wrong? Thankyou.

Usually even if you take the tick out of "GPS Satellites", google apps still can access the gps if you had granted it permission, the best way to completely stop GPS is to go to Settings>Location Services and turn off  "Access to my location" this will completely shut down GPS from everything. Just restart the phone after that and check if that solved your problem

  • ITunes Match Music Stops playing after each song- Even when on Shuffle

It doesn't matter if I'm on 3G or on WIFI the songs that are streaming through my iTunes Match account on my iPhone / iPad stop playing after a single song. Sometime it will take a few songs before it stops playing, but it ALWAYS stops. I have to constantly go onto my iOS device and press PLAY again to get the music to start again. It's not a data issue as I have a consistant 30MB down when i'm on WIFI and my 3G connection is always over 10MB down when the freezes occur.
It's a pain in the rear having to press play every few songs as i'm paying for a service I expect to work, and clearly streaming a single song and then stopping is not working in my book.
I'm running the latest versions of iOS and I've tried a complete system restore.
I also notice that occasionally when a certain song comes on, it will cycle through and skip 20+30 songs extremely rapidly so I can see the song title on my iPhone but it doesn't play any of the songs inbetween. There are also of course many song's that won't even play at all.
    Any ideas?

I am having the sames issues.  I was on the phone with Apple over the weekend.  I was told they would report it to their engineers.  It would seem this problem occurred  first in May and June and was resolved from what I have read this morning in past discussions, yet seems to be reoccurring again as of this weekend.

  • Youtube audio keeps playing after I hit back button.

    Hi,
I've been having this issue on youtube when I hit the back button the audio from the video keeps playing, I've also noticed that it only seems to happen when the comment section gets stuck loading which is frequent even though I have a fast internet connection.

why do repliers keep suggesting to disable protected mode and harfware acceleration when that clearlyisnt a solution to this problem. are you robots?

  • How do you allow an audio clip to keep playing after a video clip fades out at the end of an iMovie? I want the audio clip to fade out later... this used to be easy in an older version of iMovie.

I just updated to iMovie 11. I want the final music to play beyond the last video clip and fade out. How do I do this? Do I need to import a black screen?

Yes, I've done this, but I can't figure out how to get the audio to fade. I think I need to explain further. This is really a simple movie made from multiple photo stills from my son's school. There are cross fade transition betwee the stills, and some titiles that cross fade too. So there is not actual video. Thus everything shows only in the project library, where I dragged in the photo stills to import them. There is nothing in the event (or is in the clip) window in the bottom. I can't figure out how to get the volume lines to show for the audio clip in the project library as they did in the old version of iMovie so I could drag them up or down.

  • I want the music to keep playing after the last picture is no longer visible. How can I do that?

    Hi!
Well, the subject speaks for itself.
    How can I do that?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
There might be several solutions and I think I've seen better ones. But I do.
Add a black photo last - Then set duration to end with music (or add more black pictures)

  • My Macbook Pro does not play sound after i unpluged headphones and no light is on

Hi i have a macbook pro and i like it one day when we were trying to get it to work with our pa system and it went into protect mode so i un-pluged my laptop and no sound was to be heard there are no input and output driver in the sound nothing i tryed everything resterted it reset the pram and no red light is there any help besides going to the genius bar?

See if there are some methods here you havent tried.  These are the only phone numbers and email addresses that I am aware of that are made public by Apple: http://www.apple.com/contact/
    Force eject a stuck cd/dvd
First try the normal methods to remove the disc. Drag its icon to the Trash can in the Dock or select 'Eject' from the File menu.
If you are running a virtual machine, e.g. VMFusion, ensure that the CD is disconnected from the virtual machine. This will sometimes allow the CD to now show up in Mac OS X.
Shut down the computer and start up whilst holding down the mouse button. This may take some time, but keep your finger on the mouse button right up until the disc comes out or the log-in screen has appeared.
If you have Toast Titanium installed on your computer, choose EJECT DISC from the menubar.
Sometimes you can successfully use the eject disc button in iTunes even if the disc is not visible to the Finder
Open Disc utility and choose the disc you wish to eject in the left-hand pane, then click on the Eject button.
Some Macintoshes have a paperclip hole that you can insert a straightened paperclip into, manually triggering the eject mechanism.
Open Terminal and type "drutil tray eject" to eject the disc/tray, and "drutil tray close" to close the tray.
If your computer has an eject button on the keyboard, restart the computer holding down the Option key. When the startup disk selection screen appears, let go of the option key and press the keyboard's eject button.

  • My music keeps stopping after only a few seconds of playing.

Tried hard reset, which worked temporarily.  I don't think it's contaminated files because it stops regardless of source(iTunes, spottily, youtube, etc.)  please advise

    Hello Thadewd,
Thank you for providing the details regarding the audio issue you are experiencing with your iPhone.  If you have tried a reset and it only temporarily worked, the next step is to restore your iPhone.  You can find the steps to restore your iPhone in the following article:
