Music Libr

I have a problem with the way you import file into the PlayCenter... It wants to search the entire hard dri've... I have alot of games on this hard dri've and I really don't want to import all the wav and mp3 files into the library just to have to go back and delete them... I have all my music in the My Music directory and I just want to import that file none other. How do I do thatMessage Edited by eugeneb4 on 02-23-2005 03:24 AM

Huh,
Im just useing the software that is recommended by Creative for this sound card... It will not recongnie any music on my computer until it is scanned by the program and it will not do only one folder it willONLY do the WHOLE Hard Dri've. I want it to scan only one folder.....ALL MY MUSIC IS IN ONE FOLDER. I DONT NEED TO SCAN THE WHOLE COMPUTER. CAN ONYONE UNDERSTAND WHAT I AM SAYING. IS IT IN PLAIN ENGLISH ENOUGH. I WILL WALK YOU THROUGH THE PROCESS.
i CLICK ON THE "Creative PlayCenter" ICON THAT LOOKS LIKE AN OLD JUKEBOX.
IT OPENS WITH NO MUSIC IN THE LIBRARY.
SO I CLICK ON "Auto Scan"
THE ONLY SELECTIONS THERE ARE "Hard-disk C:" or "Hardidisk E:"
WELL DOES THAT EXPLAIN IT!!!!! IF THE ENTIRE HARD DRIVE IS SCANNED THEN ALL THE GAME FILES AND OTHER PROGRAM SOUNDS AND WAV WILL BE PUT INTO THE LIBRARY REQUIREING ME TO GO BACK AND DELETE THEM IN WHICH I WISH NOT TO DO. DO YOU UNDERSTADN NOW!!!
DOES THIS MAKE ANY SENSE TO ANYONE?!!

  • Creative MediaSource Organizer hangs while importing tracks to PC Music Libr

I purchased a NOMAD Jukebox Zen 60GB sometime ago and I finally got into putting my music into it. I downloaded and installed Creative Media Source version 2.03.29. I have all my music files in a folder in my roommates desktop computer available on our home network, because my laptop hard dri've is not big enough to store all files. I click on the Import button and select Import Tracks, and the Creative Import Wizard dialog pops up. I select the mapped network dri've where all my music files are and click Add Folder, and the wizard correctly finds all my music files and lists them on the list on the right side.
First time I tried this, I tried importing all my music which meant it would add 000 files. I clicked Continue and the wizard displayed "Gathering files info and checking file existence in PC Mucis Library..." with the progress bar moving a little. The farthest the progress bar got to was under the th of the "Gathering..." Since I think I have a lot of music files, I waited for about 5 hours but the progress bar did not move further. I checked the task manager, the Applications tab said Creative Import was Running, and the Process tab indicated that the CTImport.exe process was using 98% CPU. I tried other times importing less music (5000 files, 000 files, as low as 500 files), and the progress bar seemed to move a little further with lower number of files, but I was still feel I waited longer than I should have and the process did not finish (I think I waited half-hour to an hour for 500 files). My laptop is not slow or very old, I use video conferencing applications and etc without a problem. Is this a known issue, any suggestions on how I can load my music to my PC Library to download to my jukebox player?
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Thanks everyone for the replies. Allow me to add more information and make some more comments. I did try doing in batches. The?smallest number of songs I had tried was 500 and that seemed to?hang. I then tried 250?and that?worked at first. I got all excited, I would do them all 250 at a time if necessary, but when I tried importing the next 250 files?it got "stuck". Probably in the same place that it did when I tried 500 together.
This might suggest a corrupt tag/file. See if you can narrow down where it is and then analyse the file with something like MP3 Library.
But SSR suggestion made me realize that I can add the track/files without using the import feature, by just dragging and droping from My Computer mapped dri've. It looks like I can add the files to the PC Music Library or the MP3 directly by drag and drop. I was hoping to use the PC Music Library first, so that I could fix files that are not tagged properly, rate some music,?set the Genre (I have a lot of foreign music, so I could differentiate them by nationality in the Genre), etc and them I could also use when transferring to my memory based/jogging mp3 player as well. But it looks like I might be able to fix the tags directly on the player as well (I have a feeling this might be slower, take more time). I can drag single items (I'll do one by one if that's what it takes), but I saw that I can also drag multiple items (so that will cut down manual labor). I just hope that it won't get stuck once I get close to droping the 500th item. I didn't get a chance to try because I had to come to work, I'll try later and let everyone know.
Don't edit the files on the player. If you copy the files back to the PC the changes will be lost unless you use a special update feature in MediaSource 3.

  • Mediasource won't display my music libr

Here's the deal: When I open Mediasource Organizer, there are three folders displayed: PC Library, Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra and My Computer.
When I click on the Nomad folder to access the Music Library on my player, a box opens that looks as if it is transferring info. It disappears within a second and nothing happens. Mediasource also closes.
When I restart Mediasource, only two of the folders show, NOT the Nomad one. This happens when the jukebox is on or off. Yes, I do have my USB cable connected.
I am running the current version of Mediasource, as well as the current firmware version. OS is Windows XP. The Zen Xtra is the 40g version. Any suggestions?

<SPAN>Hm? You may need to use a different organizer. Try using Windows Media player 0, if you have a older version update it to #0.
<SPAN>If you don?t like WMP there are still others you can use, here is the Nomadness FAQs on the Zen. Take a look for other organizers.

Torstein, I didn't try Windows Media Player, although I have v0, but remembered that I already have Notmad Explorer. I downloaded the latest version. When I went to use it (by first starting Notmad Manager in the system tray) I was told the device wasn't connected. But it was, because the device manager showed the USB Creative Nomad connection as being present and working correctly. I couldn't go any further, and don't see any reason to try Media Player. Something is wrong when my system recognizes the presence of the connection, but the programs don't recognize my player. I'm at a loss what to do.

  • Transfer from MP3 disc to PC Music Libr

Can anyone advise on how to transfer tracks from an MP3 disc to PC Music Library in Media source? I use the Media source and transfer the tracks to my PC but can't access the MP3 tracks later to burn a CD or transfer to the Zen Micro. The location of the track stays in the D:\ ... dri've and not transferred to the hard disk under C:\...
I have no problem with audio CDs as I just rip them. What should I do with MP3 files?
    Thanks.

In Windows Explorer, copy the music files from your MP3 CD into your music directory (say, "C:\Music"). Then, in Creative MediaSource, import the music files from "C:\Music" into MediaSource's PC Music Library.

  • Sync New Music Libr

Hi, I created a new music library located in a directory in a partitition that is not on the system disk (for space opportunity), when i tried to sync with my Zen Micro the only Music Library in the menu is the default one. Why I can't see the new one?
I also changed the dir of the default music library but when i try to sync the sync manager shows the free space of the original dir and if the file to transfer are more than that space it could not be done... Can you help me to fix it's?
    Thank you
    Ciano

Tthis is a normal warning.  HOWEVER .... Is there a reason the current contents can't be recovered?  Is the iTunes library the same one you always sync with?
IItunes is designed to change only what you ask it to.  If you select "sync music". But do not check "sync apps, movies, etc" then only music will be changed to match the list you have chosen.

  • Nomad zen xtra juke box- can't play in "now playing" without having song in pc music libr

I just reei'ved a laptop and install my creative organizer. On my old setup i caould hook up my mp3 player
and just click on a song and it play in the "now playing " area.
Now i can't just click i have to first transfer a song in into my pc libray then click on it in ther and it will play.
Can anybody figure out why? any help would be so greatly appreciated.

    Update
(Apologies if this sounds familiar to anyone0
Finally got the first part of the problem fixed.  Though Ovi player said it was my registered PC, it was not.  Nokia support (2nd level?) reset it so I can now see my Download History.
All was fine initially - started re-downloading all the albums I had downloaded and which no longer worked.
Fine for stuff after Oct 2010.  Anything older than that I cannot download the album with 1 click, and instead have to download each individual track one at a time, then navigate away from that page, then back again to get track 2 etc etc.  Which is about a 30sec round trip for each track.  I had about 519 albums with about 8000 songs lots of classical) so that's 4000 minutes for me sat here manually downloading everything again.
Then, I thought I could use the website ovi.com instead to download music, rather than Ovi player, but... when I logged in there it claims that I am not using my registered PC (though I have the Ovi player open on the same PC saying it is registered).
Just being able to download the albums in one go would be nice.  Not as nice as not having to do it at all, but it would be good nonetheless.
Even having a REFRESH option on the download history page would be nice.  Or navigation to pages at the TOPas well as the bottom of the page.
It really starts to look like it is designed to be so frustrating that people eventually don't bother any more. It'll take me months (at 1 hour a day) to manually download all the stuff I used to have.
    Rant over.

  • Burning CDs from music in my PC Music Libr

I cannot figure out how to burn CDs for use in my car and home from music that I transferred to my PC Music Library. When I try to select songs from the library in the source view and drop them into the dri've for my PCs CD-burner, it says that I am not allowed to do this? Can anyone please provide some guidance?

MediaSource has a BurnCD module for some of the products. Click the button at bottom right corner of MediaSource to display a destination panel. Click the dropdown header of the destination panel to see whether a BurnCD module is available. If so, you can burn Audio CD and MP3 CD.

  • Including Vision M in PC music libr

Is there any way that I can consolidate the tracks on my Zen Vision M into the 'PC music library' WITHOUT the files being physically copied to my hard dri've. At the moment I have to access tracks by selecting the Music directory on the Zen Vision, and clicking through all the folders to play the files. As most of my music is stored on my vision m, it makes all the windows to the right pretty much redundant.
I also have an iaudio attached to my computer most of the time, and would like to be able to search through that, the vision m and mp3s on my hard dri've all at once.
    Thanks

Don't use the Generic one as it can damage the player, The cell phone one doesn't output enough juice for it.Can't say about the SanDisk one. The older the battery the less playtime it will output. Age of the battery has more to do with it than use of it. So the charger itself would be my guess. Get either the car charger that is made for the Playstation Portable (a real one) or the one Creative makes. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...duct_id=396047

  • MediaSource and PC Music Libr

Where on the PC does Creative MediaSource store the PC Music Library database and under what name? I have set the program to backup every 7 days, but being a bit paranoid, I also on a regular basis physically back up to CD any documents I don't want to lose in case of a hard dri've failure.
OS: Windows ME - Creative MediaSource v. 2.03.04
    Thanks. Eva

For Windows 2000 and Windows XP, the database files are stored at "C:\Documents and Settings\YourName\Application Data\Creative\Media Database".
For Windows Me/98SE, I think they are stored at C:\Windows. There should be a folder called "Application Data". I suggest you search your harddisk for the file "PCML_.dpm" and backup the whole "Media Database" folder. Note that there is also a "JetFileBackup" folder within the "Media Database" folder. I don't think the "JetFileBackup" folder needs backup because it just contains some DLLs from Microsoft.

  • Rebuilding Music Libr

After I add music to my Zen Touch, then unplug the usb cable from the player, my zen freezes and i have to use a paper clip to reset and then the long process of rebuilding the music library occurs. I unplug the cable when the transfer graphic arrows are clear (rather than solid). I have also tried to safely remove my zen after i add music to it, but it says something like "cannot remove hardware, hardware is still in use." I know for a fact it is not in use because all of the programs associated with it are closed, I have even let it sit a few minutes, and I have opened task manager to see if any programs associated with it are running, and they are not. I am using the newest firmware 2..0. Also, I have to install new firmware upgrades to my zen on a different computer, because the firmware upgrade software won't detect my player, even though I can transfer music to it. If anyone has any thoughts of a possible solution, please let me know.

If the arrows on the player are not shaded in then it should be fine to disconnect it. I think its a Creative program like disc detector or some other program which monitors if a device is connected thats causing it to not get out of Docked Mode.
If it continues to freeze then run a Disk Cleanup when the player reboot you will see it show a Rebuiding Library message. Hopefully when its finished this your player will work correctly and you wont see the message appear again.
Also what you can do if you have sometime is format the player and transfer over all your songs again.

  • Tip for people that need a really fast music libra

Since i've got my zen i always use winamp for transfering files and edit playlists. Its a great player for making and edit the meta data, and its very fast in transfering files. You also have the possibility to eject your device safely.
You will need winamp 5.3 from www.winamp.com.. Try it out.. its free and compatible with most creative devices.

I'd like to say I am really musical and can play all sorts of instruments really well but sadly I don't ... been learning the guitar for a while (approaching two years now) with little results though I am a master of keyboard - provided I don't have to use my hands independently!
Apparently I used to have a good voice when I was a child but I reckon it was more of a "awww, look at wee Stephanie singing, isn't she good" moment. So if you guys are starting a band I bagsy the triangle (which by the away I always played at pre-school recitals, so I must be good at it  )
Craig, did NOT know you used to sing, voice of an angel or what??
I know others have said it already but I am really impressed at Outcast_Aussie basically re-learning how to play the guitar, that's just awesome.
@hamish72 my neighbours always rejoice at the prospect of my guitar practices

  • Napster to go music libr

Anyone notice the extent of the "to go" library?
Napster implies some of the library is off limits for portable device download. How much is actuall out of bounds?

well lets see.....NO led zeppelin at all..... Talking Heads "stop making sense is availible for NTG....and no Mothers of Invention
some artists wont let any music service use their music at all....sometimes certain tracks on albums are purchase only....
to compare to Rhapsody music service...there are no zeppelin, no mothers and the same Talking heads songs...so its a artist related issue....Rhapsody is more use friendly but no "to go" capability...Napster to Go if you have a wide musical taste there are thousands of songs I could get everyday I just wish it had a better website/navigation.....its kinda clumsy at first learning how to get songs to your mp3 player....

  • All music wiped from music libra

I got my zen touch a couple of days ago and it has already frozen on me twice. Fair enough, but after transferring 60 something albums on to the thing i switch it on to see it rebuilding music library, and when i access the library it seems all my music has been wiped from the hard dri've! The player says that almost 5GB of disk is in use though. Can anyone shed any light on this? Is there a way of rescuing my music? Will it continue to happen? Thanks.

Try the disk cleanup routine. It's designed to reindex the disk and search for files. There's no guarantee it will recover the files but it's worth a try. To access the Rescue Mode hold down the play button and KEEP it held down, press the tiny reset switch once, and KEEP the play button held down until the player boots into the Rescue Mode. Choose Disk Cleanup from the menu.
Following this I would make sure you have the latest firmware and drivers, and Nomad Explorer (if you use this) which can be got from Nomadworld.com downloads.
