Music Library 5800

I had a previous problem with my memory card so I updated my firmware and formatted my card a few days ago. Everything's working fine until my music library got stuck. Stuck, which means, I can't play any songs in it because once I tap the song it says "File corrupted.." But I can still play the songs through File Manager.
What seems to be the problem with my library?

That is a thumbnail file.
You can format the card if you want, but that would also bring problems on the apps if you do not uninstall them first as your phone will read then as not uninstalled properly and you wont be able to download them again from Ovi Store. So when you format it, just copy your own files (music, pictures, etc) and leave everything else alone.
How exactly does your music player not work anymore. Has it stopped showing songs? Cant it refresh?

  • 5800 - Songs not appearing on Music Library

Hello again , Another problem seems to have appeared on my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. When I transferred some songs to my phone, When I refreshed the music library, everything is gone. Although, the songs can still be seen in the File Manager. I have tried reformatting twice and still the same. Can anyone fix this problem? Thank you.

That's all! Please feel free to give instructions here.
    Have a good day!

jessie091, I could feel how frustrated you feel... Anyhow, you no need to take the 5800 phone to Nokai Care Center as there is something you could try on your side...
Steps are as below and they are simple :-
    1. Connect your 5800 to you PC in Mass Storage Mode
    2. On your PC you will need to have allowed to “Show” hidden files, do this from Explorer/Tools/ Folder Options/ View and select “Show hidden files and Folder”
    3. Open your SD memory card/Removable Disk in My Computer on PC
    4. Go to E:\ Private there you will see 3 folders 101f8857, 101ffca9 and 10281e17 .
    5. Go to \Private\101f8857\Cache\E there you will see .dat files. Delete all the .dat file BUT NOT the E Folder.
    6. Now go to \Private\101ffca9 there you will see another .dat file, Delete the dat file NOT the folder.
    7. Finally go to \Private\10281e17 There you should see 4 files 2 are Mp3 files other are Podcast files. Delete mpxv2_2.db & mpxv2_2.db-journal for Mp3 files list or delete pcv6_1.db & pcv6_1.db-journal for Podcast files list ( note:  the exact names could be different )
    8. Close all windows and disconnect your Phone.
    9. Go to Music Library and it should automatically start a refresh.
Hope it works on your phone also~

  • 5800 Comes With Music - library not refreshing!!

Hi everyone, I recently got a 5800 Comes With Music phone and registered the phone within the Music Store.  I don't have a PC I can use so I wanted to use the phone to download music.  I managed to download a couple of tracks and they were stored in my music library when I chose the 'Refresh Library' option.  However, the next batch of songs I downloaded show as complete in the 'My Downloads' section but when I go into my music library and try to refresh it, it just says '0 Files Added'.  Why is this?  I'm not doing anything different to what I did the first time, yet whatever I try, I can't add the latest downloads to the library.  It's driving me mad!!  Has anyone had the same problem?  Am I missing a step - I'm literally selecting download, waiting for it to complete then going to the library and choosing refresh.
    Thanks!

Hey man, yh i'm afraid i'm having the same sort of problem as you.
I've bought and downloaded new songs off of the internet and have tried to put them onto my phone with little success.
Originally I got all but 1 song off the album into my library, through bluetooth, but when i came to play them later in the day (even though they were working earlier) they couldn't find the files and therefore were useless.
I tried, when I got home, to put them on later through the applications you download through your PC (like Nokia Suite and Nokia Music) and seemed to get them on fine but when I looked for them in my library they weren't there.
It seems like they are happy for you to put it on to your phone so that you can find the file in File Manager but won't let you put it in your library.
Sorry I couldn't give you any help but I thought it would be a good idea to put my problem up on here as well.
    Good Luck mate

  • Workaround: 5800 XM Music Library fetches all user...

Unlike the Nokia 5300 which had a folder for tones and such that the music library seemed to not read, the 5800 appears to scan all non-Nokia memory areas on the phone and card. This means that any ringtone or alert tone stored anywhere is fetched and put into the Music Library. This is not proper functionality.
So, to Nokia, you should upgrade the Refresh Library code to permit the user to Include or Exclude file paths, or design specific paths for sound effects which should not be considered music.
However, a kludge for this is prior to executing Refresh Library, either move the files off the 5800 to a PC or if there are not many, rename them by stripping off one or more characters from the filename extension.
Then, after refresh completes, the tone files will be gone, and you can rename them back. Hackish, I know, but it is what it is. Unless someone has a more elegant solution :-).

Say if i have 100 ringtones, do you want me to change the file ext of each tone manually?
Is there an alternative to rename all of the file exts in bulk?
If this does not work then the workaround you have given is waste.

  • Can't refresh music library [Nokia 5800]

This morning I added new music to my phone but it won't add to the music library...

I tried to take the memory card out and restarting the phone but it didn't helped
    this phone 2 weeks old

sorry for my bad English... Hope you can understand it.

    Hi Chino,
Well that seemed to have worked... Thanks..
Although i had to customize all my personal settings again (the onse i remember)...
and it still has a few bugs.. listed below, but i am able to download music and the music library is refreshed MOST of the time, automatically...
One other issue i have, is that i have a PC that i havent loaded the Nokia Music Store software (and i dont wish to)..
but rather just keep downloading via my Nokia Phone. So i have the problem of not being able to sync (using either Windows media player or Nokia Music thingy) to my PC.. that is to say, the downloaded music on the Mokia phone is not able to be transfered to my PC...? Maybe its the protection / liense issue...
    Regards
    A
    list of issues;
    1. Music store still occasionally (usually after every album download) states im not using my registered license device
    2. Refresh error on some downloaded songs
    3. The Nokia will suddenly drop the wifi Nokia Music Store connection (app) and bring you to the menu
    4. Now and then i get an error: Java not installed (so usually i log out and log in again to fix this)
    5. Sometimes the Music Store browsing is very very slow...
    6. there are more, but i think thats enough for now

  • X6 Music library got corrupted. File manager plays...

    Hi,
    I have X6 with version 21.0.004 installed.
I have downloaded ~300 songs from ovi music. Everything has worked fine until yesterday.
I was listening one album and tried changing to another, phone was kind to inform "File is corrupted operation cancelled"  Then I was only able to play that one last listened album. Today I could not even listen that one anymore. First every album I tried opening gave an error, now Music player crashes when trying to open anything.
I tried playing files from file manager and it played just fine.
    Any ideas?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Google had solved this issue for Nokia 5800 and it seemed to work with X6 too.
Search for: "Nokia 5800 refreshing corrupted music library"
Music player library database files are the ones corrupted. Those exist in mass storage (E: ) private directory.
You can get access to private by connecting your phone with PC in "mass storage mode" and enabling "show hidden files and folders" from windows.
Remove files from these directories (do not remove directories)
    Private\101f8857\Cache\E
    Private\101ffca9
    And finally, remove:
    mpxv2_2.db and mpxv2_2.db-journal(Mp3 library db)
pcv6_1.db and pcv6_1.db-journal (podcast library db)
    from Private\10281e17
If you think the above is too difficult, another way of solving this issue would have been backing up/formatting mass storage (E: )
Edit: I hope you guys in Nokia have a bug reported about this issue...

  • Comes With Music / Nokia 5800 problems downloading...

I've just got a new 5800 with Comes With Music and I'm having lots of problems! Hopefully you can help?!
Problem 1 - the main problem! Downloads don't add to phone's music library
The main problem is with downloading songs directly using my phone. Songs I download (using the mobile, not the PC) don't get added to my music library, and refreshing the music library dowsn't help. If I go to the music store, select 'options' and 'downloads' I can see a list of all the songs I've downloaded. If I select 'open' I can play the songs (one at a time), but they don't get added to the music library. If I press 'delete', I'm told 'File not found'. When I connect to my PC, I can't see these songs using the Nokia Music software, so can't transfer them to the PC. All very strange. Any ideas for how I can get these songs to add to the library?
Problem 2 - Nokia Music software
This is just irritating rather than anything else. When I plug my phone to my PC and use Nokia Music, the little phone icon has the caption 'Nokia N95'. But the phone I've connected is a 5800! My old phone was an N95...
At first this meant I couldn't sign up to CWM using my pin, because I was told it isn't compatible with this phone. So I had to sign up using the phone rather than the PC, and then use the log-in details on the PC to access music. This has worked and means I can download songs to my PC and transfer them to my phone, but it was a pain to get there.
Problem 3: Nokia Music website doesn't work
To add insult to injury, when I look for some help on the nokiamusic.co.uk website I'm told I need a new flash player. So I download the new flash playe, and I'm still told I need a new flash player. Brilliant. Incidentally, at the bottom of the page it says"Click here if you're quite sure to have Flash Player installed" which is gramatically a lot of nonsense.
I've always got on well with Nokia, but frankly I've had a nightmare week trying to get this new phone up and running and I'm very disappointed with them. The help-line isn't much use either. Anyway, any help on the above would be really greatfully received.
    Ryan

    Hi!
For your first problem, are you accessing Nokia Music Store on your mobile through the webbrowser or via the application in Music Menu? If you are using the web browser, try using the application.
If you are using the application already, have you tried with different access points? (i.e. WLAN, different operator interet access points) Also make sure that you have a memorycard in your phone which is compatible with the device, might be worth trying to re-format it and then try again?
For your third problem, have you tried to access nokia music store through Nokia Music program on your PC? (Click on Store tab). And which browser are you currenlty using to access it?
    Cheers,

  • Corrupt music library

When using the iPod function on my iPhone my music sometimes stopt and disapears. When opening the music button the program is hanging and returns after a few second to the home screen.
When using spotlight on the phone it finds the music but it not playing it.
When i'm using a third party music program it plays the music without any problem.
Can it be an app that is corrupting my music database?
When restoring the phone everything is working perfectly
    Please advice.

@wrender - There are several threads where similar issue is discussed and solutions suggested (which files to delete). Here's couple:

  • Will I be able to copy my music library from my PC to I pad and listen to it at a remote place without sync and without I tunes match?

Will I b able to copy my music library from PC to I pad while sync and listen to it without sync at a remote place. Is it possible without iTunes Match?

Yes. As long as all your songs you lost have been Matched or Uploaded to iTunes Match you can download your entire library from the cloud.
It might take some time though

  • IPod touch will no longer sync with my music library on iTunes since restoring to factory settings

I had to restore the ipod when it locked my son out as he'd forgotten the passcode.
I have around 1000 songs in my music library on itunes. Sync all songs is checked, but it saying there are 0 songs.
I'd like to sync all songs to the ipod.  Can anyone help please?

Syncing is iTunes keeping your iTunes library (or a defined portion of the iTunes library) "in sync" (the same as) the library on your iPod.  And iTunes syncing of content generally goes in one direction only, from iTunes library on computer to the iPod.  That's why, if you want to sync it to a NEW iTunes library, iTunes is warning you that the existing library on the iPod will be replaced.
So, you cannot transfer song files from iPod to computer using iTunes (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store). However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the song files are on your computer, you can add them to your iTunes library.  Once your iTunes library is consolidated with ALL of your songs, you can sync your iPod to it.
NOTE:  If you have songs previously purchased from the iTunes Store on the iPod, you can re-download them at no cost, from the iTunes Store Purchased screen.  The link to Purchased is on the iTunes Store Home screen, under QUICK LINKS.

  • IMac won't see my music library on an external drive

I am running Yosemite 10.10.1 on an iMac late 2012 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 32GB 1600 MHz DDR3 with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB and my music library is on an external disc drive a WD MyBookLive 3TB.
I used to run the external disc drive through a Sonos system but since moving it is now direct to the Netgear router. When I try to view the contents in iTunes it continuously shows that it is "Loading MyBookLive". How do I rectify this?
If I go to Finder and look for shared drives I can see the contents and even play the music from an alphabetical list. However, there is no way of searching for an Artist or Track using this method.

Really a library, or just media?  A library is a complete collection of files an folders including the critical iTunes Library.itl file, generally all enclosed in an "iTunes" folder.  You do not direct iTunes to open a library with preferences, you do it by holding down the option/alt key while starting iTunes and guiding it to the .itl file you wish it to use.
