Music library issues

Good day to all try to be clear. I have an ipod touch third generation After upgrading to version 4.1 of IOs if I add podcasts or music works correctly, but if you sync with iTunes without adding anything, the ipod tells me that the music library is empty. Even when connected to itunes the ipod says it has no music although the itunes shows that if. I restored the ipod, I deleted it from system preferences, updated the itunes and all without result. Is set to manually manage the content and has no jailbreak for what it is the data. Thank you very much

You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
For other songs you will have to get them from where you got them before

  • Multiple music library issues

I have downloaded songs from my home computer to my ipod, but now I am on holidays and have bought some songs from itunes store, downloaded onto my laptop, but when I try to add them to my ipod I get a message that I can only use one music library, and must erase all the songs on my ipod if I want to add the songs from my laptop that I just bought!!?? How do I add them without erasing the 900 songs already on there?

Click on your iPod's name from under the Devices column and it should automatically place you under your iPod's Summary tab.

  • IOS 8.0.2 iPhone 5s Music Library issue

I have been having an issue with my iTunes library on my iPhone even after IOS 8.0.2. Most of my songs are from indie groups and so not all of the songs have actual albums to go with them, so I have a large amount of songs in the "Unknown Album". If I open my music app and go to any artist that has an "unknown Album" and then go out and go to another artist, the second artist's songs in the Unknown album will be over written by the first artist's unknown album songs. But if I select that song it goes to the second artist's actual song as it should in the first place. Some image examples are here. When I went to Floresta Prateda's song collection it came up normally but when I went back out and went to FELT's collection, the 6 songs there got overwritten by Floresta Prateda's song. I can fix it temporarily by Refreshing my library, but I need to do that every time I finish with an artist or else it happens again. Does anyone know a fix for this?

I, too, experienced problems after updating my iPhone 5 to the most recent software release, on Saturday afternoon, in that I was unable to send iMessages to other iPhone users.
Even enabling the 'send as SMS when iMessage is unavailable' function failed to rectify the problem.  Interestingly, I was still able to text none iPhone users.
Consequently, the search for a solution to the problem prompted my first ever visit to the community, in the hope of answers, since hard re-starts and turning off the phone had failed to rectify the issue.
However, through playing around with my iPhone 5, I may have found a solution.
On a pure whim, I decided to delete the history of texts that I'd shared with a fellow iMessage user (not deleting their contact from my phone, though) before sending a new text, as though I was texting them for the very first time.
Upon receipt of the text, which did send via iMessage (blue speech bubble), my recipient replied by explaining that they'd been attempting to text me all evening to no avail, receiving a 'could not be delivered' message at their end.
As such, I'd suggest that you give the above a go before attempting a factory reset, to see if it works for you.

  • HT3209 Billing and Music Library Issues

I owe ITunes money for 4 tracks but I am unable to play music in my library already purchased? When I click on a song I am prompted to address past billing issue. Doesn't seem right since I already paid for those songs. Can anyone help?

Thanks for the follow up you your earlier post Skip! Question, what brand of router are you using and have you changed any other settings other than the channel? I suspect a lot of folks have interference issues and may not be aware of it. Microwaves and older cordless phones are the usual culprits and now wireless speakers! The "default" settings don't work for every situation so just curious what else you have tried.
My Airport Extreme for example has an "Interference Robustness" setting that is supposed to help but at the penalty of top speed and it also has an option to use "wide bands" which I think equates to the 20/40 setting in other N routers. I might be wrong on this one though. Anyhoo, just curious and thanks again!
P.S. If you do have a single radio router, you may want to try a dual band unit and then force the ATV to the 5ghz band which usually suffers less from interference issues. You can also make the 5ghz band N mode only and then slower devices can connect to the 2.4ghz radio and not interfere with the speed on the 5ghz side. 5ghz is shorter range though (but faster) so you have to watch for that if you have a big place. My ATV, ATV2, iPad and iMac all share the 5ghz side with N mode only for full speed and everything else (PC's, iPhones, Wii, PS3, Netbook) all use the 2.4ghz radio in mixed mode.

  • IPad ("3") Music Library Issue

    Greetings, all,
For the life of me, I cannot figure out what's wrong.  On my iPad, when I go into the Music "app", there are 2 songs listed (Tripod (1) and Tripod (2); please refer to the picture below) that I am trying to remove.  I removed the sync with my iTunes, but they are still there.  For the life of me I can't figure out how to remove them (or if I did another method to include them in the first place).  I even deleted the songs from my computer.  Does anyone have any helpful tips?

have u tried to remove them from ur itunes... should help

Were you ever able to solve this problem? If so,
how? If not, did you see the same slowness copying
the files in Windows Explorer from the NAS to the
    iPod?
No I wasn't. To be honest I have essentially given up as even if I can fix it, disk space is cheaper than life is long!
Using the NAS in general is no problem. In fact, once iTunes got beyond the initial working out of what needed to be removed from and copied to the iPod, having all my MP3s on the NAS and copying direct to the iPod was no issue.
Following some sage (and frankly scary!) advice at ilounge (http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?t=163611), I've decided to keep two copies of my MP3s. The fact that my fiendish NAS plan has failed is hurting more than the not-all-that-traumatic reality of duplicating 140GB of files if truth be told!

  • Drag and Drop issue from Explorer folder to Music Library

    Hello
I just updated my iTunes to 8.0.0.20 but something unexpected happened. I can’t drag and drop anymore songs from an explorer folder into my music library when my view mode is set to Grid (Album, Artist, Genre or Composer).
When I try I have a kind of interdiction circle under my pointer.
I can only perform this operation in list mode view. Few hours ago it was still possible to perform it but not after I updated. I reinstalled my iTunes but the problem persists.
I have read the forums I know I can add to my playlist as usual by using the menu. But is it possible to get drag and drop operation when I drags song directly from a folder on my explorer window?
It would be very appreciated if someone has an answer. I really messed up my library trying to fix this

I fixed the drag and drop issues I had! Turns out they were caused by the permission problems of Vista. To fix it I just made sure all the files in the iTunes folder and sub folders were full control by my account.
Make sure you check the properties of the iTunes database specifically because before, the iTunes folder had the correct permissions but they hadn't actually been inherited correctly by the iTunes DB files. Hope this helps anyone else.

  • Old 2005 Video iPod - How do I take music off and add to my iTunes music library?  And battery life issues...

I bought my husband a Video iPod clear back in 2005.  I bought the 30GB serial No 4V544C1WTXK Model number A1136.  Yes, very, very old.  However, it is an Apple product and therefore should be good forever right?    We actually rarely used it then and have not used it in years.  I got it out and brushed it off the other day.  I have two questions:
1-  I have some great music on it that I would like to transfer into my iTunes music library.  Is there a way to move it from the iPod into my iTunes library?
2-  It isn't really holding a battery charge even when it's been charging for hours.  Is there anything I can do about that?  Do I need to replace the battery?  Is there even a way to replace the battery?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you in advance.

See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

2-  It isn't really holding a battery charge even when it's been charging for hours.  Is there anything I can do about that?  Do I need to replace the battery?
Given the age of the device and that fact that it wasn't used for a lengthy period of time, it's likely that the iPod's battery is shot and in need of replacement.  Lithium-ion batteries need constant activity in order to maintain any sort of charge.  However, all batteries generally deteriote over time and lose their ability to charge.
Is there even a way to replace the battery?
Yes.  You can choose to have Apple swap the battery for a new one for the price indicated on this page.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/
You could also choose to send it to a third party service instead to have them swap it out at a much lower cost.  A Google search for "iPod battery replacement" should give you a number of results to work with.

  • IPhone 5S Music syncing issues after 8.0.2

    Hello,
I have been having irritating issues getting my iPhone 5S to sync my music library over after updating to 8.0.2.
I did a backup onto my laptop prior to updating, and went ahead with the new update. The first thing I noticed was after updating to 8.0.2 in order to sync again, iTunes prompted me that I was lacking 6GB of data on my phone to sync my library. I did not use my phone at all during the updating process so there's no way 6GB of data was magically written on it's storage drive. I could not figure out why in the world iTunes would tell me I needed to free up 6GB to sync the exact same music that was already there prior to. I went ahead and completely deleted my entire Music library from the phone, and tried to resync fresh. I still got the same message from iTunes. Believing in the program and going ahead and doing some spring cleaning, I ended up freeing a good amount of things off of my phone, applications, photos, messages, etc. to drop 6GB from the storage. I went ahead and synchronized my iPhone 5S with iTunes so I could get my music on my phone. It proceeded to go ahead and sync my roughly 1400 songs onto the iPhone. After it was complete, it showed I had an astounding 12GB of free space on my phone... I said to **** with it and just wanted to play my music. The phone seems to have all of my library that I chose to sync on my Music app. The problem is, when I go to play songs the music app will Skip over certain songs. I have not found any commonality between which songs it chooses to skip. It skips newly added songs, it skips old songs, it skips purchased songs, it skips songs downloaded from other sites. There seems to be no structure to which songs it's skipping. Another thing to note, whenever I connect my iPhone 5S to my iTunes and sync, I am Always able to sync something new onto the phone (around step 5 or 6 when it is completing the sync, it will mysteriously add some songs to the phone). Those songs are playable. Then I shuffle through my playlist, and Still the same problem remains, it has removed some songs and skips over them. It seems to Sync songs, and Delete songs... completely at random. This is bothering me and I'm not sure what to do, and am Very unsatisfied with the amount of bugs still left in the software. I wonder if others are having similar issues and maybe we can bring some light to this.
    Thank You,
    Andrew

Similar issue Andrew.  After installing 8.0, the IOS deleted 225 songs from one of my playlists, and I'm still "recalling"  songs that are no longer in my Music Library.  Fortunately, although the playlist of 235 had only 6 songs left on it ( on my  Mac), the Playlist was not erased from my I -Phone.  I was able to recreate the Playlist on my Mac, using the intact playlist on my phone.  When I synched however, I was back to square one.  I went to the Apple store, and I had to reset the phone .  We also downloaded IOS 8.02.  They saved my playlist in the Cloud, deleted it from my Mac, then synched it.  Lo and behold, the playlist I recreated on my Mac, synched to my I Phone.  After the reset, I had like 11GB of free space.  (Its been 5 days since the "reset" and the number of GBs fluctuates from day to day !!)
When I got home from the Apple store I spent after  hours reinstalling all the apps, synchng the phone to the Bluetooth in my car ( you know the rest of the saga) , I purchased a song from I Tunes.  I "drag and dropped" it into a Playlist, and synched.  Didn't work.  Song shows in "Recently Added", but the drag and drop feature doesn't work.  Bottom line,  I'm not willing to "reset" my phone every time I add a song !  I've tried any number of fixes posted to this support community, but none have worked for me.
Furthermore,  it took me 3 hours to get the phone re-synched to the Bluetooth system  in my car.  However every time I connect to "Bluetooth Audio", the system needs to "find" and "reconnect to" my phone.    If you ( or anyone else ) finds  something that might work for both the music synch and /or the Bluetooth, I'd appreciate your input.
    Thanks, Lorenzo

  • Iphone 5s music sync issues

    Guys and girls.
I have got my 5s and have manage to get round to adding my music from my old phone (android) into Itunes music all plays fine but will not sync to my phone.
I go about the sync the normal way, it does start to work but gets to the 'checking for downloads' bit in the blue bar at the top and the whole of Itunes stops responding at all. I use the latest update on itunes and the latest software update on my phone which is now updating to 7.1 as we speak. Still no joy with the music sync. I have tried a few things i have seen on other threds i.e. reset phone using hold lock and home button together, un syncing and re syncing, unticking and reticking boxes and i am slowly going mad!haha. Can anyone offer a solution???
    Thanks in advance

  • I have an iPod Touch on IOS 5.1.1 - I uploaded its music library to my new laptop, using Tunejack. However, I now cannot download music from my laptop to the iPod (but can download to my iPad2 and iPhone 4S). I have gone under 'music' tab. Any ideas?

I have got an iPod Touch on IOS 5.1.1, which contained my music library, including uploaded CDs and purchases. I have a new laptop (using Windows 7) and upIoaded my music library from the iPod, using Tunejack, onto the laptop. I then made a few purchases but these weren't showing up on my iPod, so in frustration, thinking this would rectify the problem, I then re-booted the iPod, with the result that my entire music library disappeared from it.  I then went to sync with my lap top and went in under the 'Music' tab and clicked on download 'entire music library' but nothing happens. I have also tried 'selected playlists, artists, albums and genres' but this has not worked as well. The same issue dows not apply with eitehr my iPad 2 or my iPhone 4S.  As mentioned, this music library did come from my iPod so there is no space issue. If anyone has any suggestions i would be grateful.

    Does the iPod work OK?
Does it charge when connect to the computer?
Does it appear in My Computer?
Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Compare with the iPod that does work/connect.
I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1

    iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.

  • ITunes match has destroyed my music library. Help!

So basically several years ago I bought an external hard drive to combat low storage space on my laptop, and moved all my iTunes files to there. However, the hard drive is broken, so most of my music could only actually be played on my iPod, the only songs I could play from my laptop were ones which had their files saved on to the laptop itself. I saw about itunes match and thought that would enable me to save songs from my iPod on to the cloud, thus allowing me to access all my songs from my laptop too. However, instead my ipod has now also lost all the songs that were saved to my hard drive, and only has the few songs I had saved to my iPod. So right now it seems I've paid £21 for the privilege of losing the vast majority of my music library. Is there anything I can do about this?
On a side note, this issue has made me realise how terrible and counter-intuitive apple tech support is.

Sorry to here about your problem. I'm afraid that there is nothing you can do to recover your lost music. Itunes match works by scanning your iTunes library on your computer not your ipod.
Possibly, you could see if you can get someone to recover the music from your ext hard drive.

  • Installed ITunes 8 - entire music library lost - hangs if I try to add fold

I just installed iTunes 8 after having been prompted to do so.
When I first opened it the app started to render my album covers, and then stopped.
I was curious about the genius feature, so I enabled that, and it said it was active, but then nothing showed in my music library at all -- no covers, not a single track.
I tried re-adding the folder where I store my music, I get a processing message, but then it just hangs.
I ended the task, tried adding a single song -- that song added successfully, so I added one more -- also OK, and they could play. So I tried adding the whole folder again - hangs.
    End task again.
Re-open - the songs I added manually aren't there anymore. Every time I add a song, it shows temporarily, then when I exit and go back in the whole list is erased again.
At the file system level the folder where it stores all the info about music is COMPLETELY EMPTY: \\server\users\myusername\my documents\my music\itunes\itunes music\
That folder used to have hundreds of folders and files? What the heck happened? Where are my files?
Is this a bug or just some weird issue on the x64 version of Vista that happens when you have my documents folder re-direction turned on? This wasn't a problem with v7.x

Copying the old iTunes Library (from the "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder) didn't work for me. iTunes went through its typical "Updating iTunes Library" routine the next time I launched, and any attempt to add a folder of files to my library still returns Error 13014.

I don't see anything in Help that shows when you already have transfered all the files over.  Why would it want to erase and sync when I already have all the music folder copied over?  I didn't have an issue when I had another technician copy from one laptop to another.  Home sharing is also on but not being recognized.

I suspect you only migrated the media folder instead of the complete working library. Either review the transfer process and copy over the entire iTunes folder from your old profile's music folder or see Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
