Music lost in Katrina flood

My computer and all back up disks were lost in my home, which was flooded due to hurricane Katrina. All the music I purchased during the past 2 years from the iTunes Music Store was lost. Without my compter hard drive and disks, I cannot retrieve the music I already purchased. Please advise how I can obtain or download the music I've purchased. My purchases should appear in your records.
Also, I will need to deauthorize my previous computer and download to my new laptop as well as update my credit card information. Please advise on those procedures.
In the information requested below, I will list my current computer.
Thank you for your assistance.

Hello, Karen,
Sorry to hear about your problem. You need to understand, though, that except for rare occasions, no one who posts here works for Apple. The Discussions are for users to ask for assistance from other users, so no one here can help you directly.
What you need to do is contact iTunes Music Store Customer Service and explain what happened. Reportedly in some cases Apple has allowed redownloading on a one-time basis, but it's not guaranteed.
Good luck.

how to get back music lost while syncing to itunes?

If the music you lost during the sync process is no longer on the iPod, in your iTunes library, or in a backup elsewhere, I'm afraid you are out of luck.
You may be able to redownload any lost purchases via iCloud (pending you live in a country where iCloud has gone live).

To use the iTunes/App store media on your computer the computer has to be authorized for the account that purchased the media

If you are redownlood you still need a valid payment method.

  • Music lost after IOS 8 update

I have & iphone 5 & backed it up to my PC before updating to IOS 8. Now I have lost most of my music & audio books & can't restore to an earlier backup as they have all gone after the update was done. Also most music & books purchased in Itunes has also gone so it is like I never purchased them. What do I do now? Can I go back to IOS 7 by wiping my phone as I have a laptop with backups (and all my music and audiobooks) on it? All backups also went when my manager upgraded his iphone 5 to IOS 8 on a separate PC.

Music and other media are not part of the backup at all. You can re-sync media from the iTunes library on your computer. Music purchased from iTunes can be re-downloaded at no charge. Audio books will need to be re-purchased if you did not back them up.
You can not downgrade to an earlier version of iOS and even if you could, it wouldn't change anything.

  • All iTunes music lost after hard drive crashed

After upgrading to Snowleopard, I noticed my computer acting odd and constantly freezing. I took it to get checked and to back up all my data. I was told they could back up my data, wipe the hard drive and upload my data again...but then I was told that my data was encrypted, therefore it could not be restored. As a result, I lost ALL my files including all of my iTunes music. Is there a way to request a redownload from iTunes? I've been told by friends that only one request will ever be granted per customer. I really hope there's a way to restore my music. It's not like I chose to download my music illegaly. I chose to do it legally throuh iTunes and pay for my music. Please help me, my iTunes library was fairly large and I can't bare the thought of all of it being lost.
Any help and guidance would be extremely helpful. Thank you!

just a remark : of course each & every one should be responsible for one's music & as you say, if one looses all our cd's, the record store doesn't have to replace them - granted !
having said that & considering how much it costs Apple a download replacement service for such instances & how few people would actually use it , it seems to me it's a brilliant
''extra'' to add to the iTunes Store roster of features - one that makes it even more appealing ? : ''..don't worry , if anything goes wrong you can always get it back..''
i'd call this offering peace of mind ( VERY attractive.. ) others would call it good marketing policy - you pick !

  • IPod music lost after upgrading to iOS 8.3

I own a 5th generation iPod touch. When I connected to my computer the iTunes prompted me to update to the latest iOS available i.e., 8.3 and I accepted it. In the process it downloaded the software and restarted my iPod but somewhere in that process I got a prompt in iTunes stating a Unknown error occurred. I verified the iPod to see if the device is up and running. It showed the latest OS version 8.3 but to my dismay there were no music albums at all. All the songs which I had in the iPod prior to the upgrade were vanished.
I tried the restore option in iTunes which was backed-up just before the upgrade (automatically by the upgrade process), but looks like it only restores contacts, calendars etc but not the music.
When I connect my iPod to the computer it sometimes shows the space usage as if the music prior to the upgrade is still in the iPod. Even the Songs and other information are still shown in both the iPod & the iTunes. But when I play it will show exclamation mark against that file in iTunes and in iPod it just keeps skipping to the next song and nothing gets played as there are no songs at all.
Please let me know if there is any solution for this weird loss of data from iPod.

First get the songs to play in iTunes on the computer. Re Import CD music to  iTunes or redownload iTunes purchases
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    Then
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Manage Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
      - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Is there anyway to recover music lost by an ipod restore?

i had to restore my ipod and i lost all my music including some music i bought on my ipod is there anyway to restore it?

    alicepattinson wrote:
How did you choose an earlier date?
Once you delete any thing from iphone 4 it is not possible to restore. It is possible to restore only when you backuped the contacts before deleting them.
So,if you backup the contacts before deleting then follow the below instructions to recover lost contacts of iPhone.
---> Turn on the iphone 4 device.
---> After turn on locate the backup application which you are using and open it.
---> After open you will see the different options.Among this select and tap the restore option.
---> Now select the contacts option.
---> Here you will see the all contacts.
---> Among this select the all contacts and tap the restore option.
---> After restore process completes check the contacts restore or not and close the backup application.

  • Music lost

Alright, I had 400 songs on my iPod, but then it froze. I had no choice but to reset it (At least I think that was my only choice), but all my songs were gone (I knew that would happen) Now every time I plug it in, it updates the songs, but today it said there wasn't enough memory left to update. Since the memory is still as used as it was before I reset, does that mean I can recover my songs? If so, how? And, does anyone know why I can't select anything on my iPod (its kinda a grey color, instead of black font)? Thanks so much

You loaded songs on your iPod and then deleted the songs from the iTunes library and computer's hard drive?
If these songs weren't deleted from your iTunes library and computer's hard drive, there is no reason to recover the songs on the iPod.
Although there is a method for transferring songs from an iPod to your computer, it is designed to be a one way transfer process - from iTunes to the iPod which is why you shouldn't delete songs from the iTunes library - especially purchased music. Songs imported to iTunes from music CDs can be easily replaced but not the same with purchased music. If you delete songs from the iTunes library and computer hard drive and your iPod is lost or stolen or you experience this same problem again and/or the iPod requires a complete restore, your purchased music will be lost.
This is also why maintaining a backup of your purchased music is important.
Did you perform a reset or a restore?
If you performed a restore which restores the iPod to factory default settings, all music was erased from the iPod and it should be empty.
Regarding why you can't select anything on your iPod when connected to the computer and iTunes, you need to select "manually manage songs and playlists" via iPod preferences.
    Check this link for instructions.

  • Music lost on Itunes.

ok... what happened was thati went over to my friends house and he had a switch users thing on his Dell comp. cuz he has a big family. So when i tried it on my Gateway I lost ALL of my music. I have all the songs on my ipod but all of them are gone on my ipod and i need to know how to get them back... i went to check purchases in itunes. but it said that i had all of them for my account..... plz help.. thnx for everyone who took time out of their schedule to help me:)

This is what the iTunes Music Store - Terms of Service say:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage."
So you should have made a backup of your purchases.
Some users reported however that they were granted a re-download.
Go to this page, fill in the form and explain what happened.
    Be polite and be patient.
    If you're in luck, you're granted a re-download.
The iTMS has no obligation to do so however.
    Hope this helps.

  • MY PURCHASES OF I TUNES MUSIC LOST

I purchased songs on iTunes and my computer crashed and lost all of my music and videos. I tried for hours to get someone to help me with my problem and of course I got the run around and connected to everyone but the person I need help from.
I find it funny they take my money and when I need help, One moron even told me to re-purchase the songs I already bought!!
Is there anyone out there that can help me get my music back?
    Thanks!

It is tough to back up music when they aren't downloaded. I know. The same thing happened to me. In the middle of downloading an album my computer crashed. Apple says it downloaded but iTunes says it did not. I am out the money and have no music to show for it. **** of a business model if you ask me!!!
The bottom line is that PC's suck. I never had a problem, EVER, with iTunes on my Mac.
I do think Apple Support could be more user friendly. And to the guy who says to read the terms, yeah if I read all of those lines I would never get to download anything with so much lawyer crap in them. I guess it says we reserve the right to terminate your download, take your money, and then say "YOU LOSE."

  • Music Lost due to system restore

I have searched but can't find an answer. My computer crashed and a full restore was done. I lost all my music and cannot get it back. Biggest problem is I do not have the Ipod anymore, just had the music on my Itunes. I cannot get support over the phone and I am ready to pull my hair out. I have lost a couple of hundred songs. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Where is your backup copy?
You can try e-mailing itunes support to ask for an exception, but they are not obligated to allow it, especially if your didn't backup anything.
    You get one download.

  • Non-Library Synced music lost after latest iTunes update. Help!

I downloaded/update to the latest itunes which caused my phone to be reset to its factory settings. Although my contacts, photos and apps ect. were recovered, my music was not. I had a lot of music (2500+) on my phone which was however not synced to my itunes library as most of it was purchased from other sources. They were all normal MP3 files but now I don't know how to get them back! Surely iTunes couldnt have just wiped all of my music, could it? Please please please help me!

If you have content that is on the iPhone but not on the computer then Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device has useful tips. If it has now gone from the iPhone too then you can still recover your iTunes purchases.
What do you see if you drill down into the Mobile Applications and Music folders inside iTunes Media? Are you certain the content has been deleted?
If you've not done too much with the drive since things went wrong, then an undelete tool might recover some of the lost media. FreeRecover looks promising... Select the drive, use the options to get file paths and check file integrity, then, presumably, you can restore anything that has been deleted from within the media folder that looks recoverable.
While it is understandable that you blame Apple & iTunes for losing the media you could have just as easily turned on your computer to find the entire drive fried. You need to be prepared for such by backing up all your important data to at least one secondary independent location.

  • Computer stolen and all downloaded music lost

Hi, I am trying to find a way to regrant a download of music I have purchased through itunes over the last three or four years. We had our computer stolen and all the downloads. While we have the music on our ipod and old iphone (bought a new one this week) I cannot download music from them to our new computer or new phone. I would really like to have the music I purchased back in our itunes. I have called apple and they said to go to the chat support. So here I am....I think I am in the right place.
