Music louder than voice?

Hi,
I have a very weird problem.. When I watch movies, or listen to music, the music is MUCH louder than voice. When I listen to movies, I have to constantly change volume, because when it's music it's too high, and when people are talking, it's too low.
This happens both in Boxee and iTunes (changing equalizer settings doesn't help), which makes me think it's not application specific.
Can somebody help?

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
If not under warranty Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.
Apple - iPod Repair price
A third-party place like the following will replace the jack for less. Google for more.

  • Sound effects are louder than voices on movies

When streaming a movie from my macbook pro to my apple tv (2nd gen) the background sound is always louder than the voice dialogue.  I don't know how to adjust it or change it.  It is very frustrating to hear the music and clicking and clanging so much louder than the speaking.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I have a mulit-channel connection via monster cables.
It is on nearly all of the movies that I stream.
The same audio set up is used when I am watching regular tv shows.  Meaning the audio is coming from the tv to the surround system via the same cables. The only cable difference is the hdmi cable carrying audio and video from the apple tv to the tv.
I am guessing its just the files, and/or the apple tv, because I want to say when we watch a netflix movie directly off of the apple tv it tends to do the same as a streaming movie does from my mac.
I have looked into the setting on my mac in itunes to try to adjust some things, but nothing seems to really alter anything.
I can test other files and systems in greater detail later today, can give better information then.  (have to get home from work)
Thanks for your continued help with this.

  • How can I get my ipod nano (6th gen) to stop making a static-y noise when I try to listen to my music? It has been doing this for a week and the music is faint while the static is louder than it.

It has been doing this for a week and the music is faint while the static is louder than it. I try plugging it in to my iTunes and when I un-plug it, it still makes the loud static noise. I have also tried tapping my knuckle on the back of my ipod nano. This has not damaged it at all nor caused this to my ipod. There is no water damage to the ipod. Only a few scratches from a couple drops. The drops have been on concrete but not at a very high distance. How to I stop this? Do I need to replace my ipod instead?

Have you tried a different pair of earbuds/headphones to rule out a pair of damaged/faulty ones?  You might also want to make sure the headphones are securely and firmly seated in Nano's headphone jack.  Lastly, check the headphone jack for any signs of debris or damage.  You may need to have the headphone jack replaced either by Apple or a third party repair company.
I assume this static is present on any track you listen to versus only particular ones?

  • Music on iTunes much louder than on iPod

Today I decided to listen to on itunes with my 20 inch imac with OS X 10.7 and iTunes 10.4. The instant I started listening I noticed a major difference in the volume levels. I played it on 3 squares away from the top volume wich is what I usually use on my ipod and it almost blew my ears off. The music was way louder. I use the same headphones ( Shure 750DJ) on the same songs. Sound check, sound enhancer and equalizer were all off on both devices ( I was listening to the album Endgame by Rise Aginst if it helps). I even did direct comparisons with multiple ipods and other MP3 player brands and itunes was always louder so its not an issue with my ipod. The volume was at least double what my ipod puts out. I've been searching around multiple places and theres nothing about this so i came here.
    tl;dr
    itunes is louder than ipod

    Okay.
You still have two volume controls on the computer.
Set the iPod volume to midrange and set iTunes on the computer to midrange then adjust the computer sytem volume so it is equal to the iPod.
The volume will be the same.

  • Why am I hearing a loud foreign voice periodically on my iMac?

Hope someone can help me with this.  Very infrequently a loud foreign voice will be heard on my iMac speaker system.  I havent been able to really document it properly as it doesnt last that long and as indicated very infrequent--I believe I have only heard it twice, maybe 3 times in the last month.
It would appear to be within the computer system and not from any local transmissions.  It seems to only last 5 or 10 seconds if I recall correctly.
I am concerned that it may be some type of hacking or something that has been put on/in the iMac.  I believe it occurred while using Firefox.
Any ideas on this one or has anyone else had it happen.  Thanks.

I am still concerned about it as it has never happened before and I know I have had multiple tabs open previously.
The voice comes on very loud and as I indicated is a foreign dialect other than English.
If anyone else has encountered this I would appreciate hearing more.  thanks.

  • Left speaker louder than right? (internal)

    Hi,
I recently got a 17" MacBook Pro. Playing some music today i noiced something strange. It seems although the left speakers is louder than the right one. If i play music through itunes (or any other program), and cover the right speaker grille, it makes little difference to the sound, but if i cover the left grille, the sound becomes 'condensed' sounding.
Is this normal? Any help would be appreciated.
    David.

Check the sound balance inside the Sounds Pref Pane. There will be a tab that says Output and you can change the balance of the sound from left to right. That might be the problem.

  • Why is ATV output so much louder than my other components?

I have the ATV connected through an AV Receiver along with other HDMI stuff (DVD player, etc.). When I select the ATV, the music is always much louder than any other components. Like it scares the heck out of everyone if we don't remember to change the volume first.
I've played around with sound check stuff and had no luck.
Any suggestions on how to level the noise by default?
    Thanks.

This has always been a problem with ATV. The latest version 2.3 has music volume control, which helps, but it resets whenever you switch to a different media format (TV, Movies, Youtube, etc.). I am hoping that they will let you define a default volume for the ATV in the next version.
Also, some users have reported different volume settings under different output formats (HDMI, digital, analog, etc.).
Hope that helps (although I know it doesn't).

  • Right Speaker louder than Le

    Relevant Specs:
    K8N Diamond Plus
    nForce SLI
Onboard Audigy SE (CD drivers, technically a Sound Blaster Li've?)
    Klipsch Promedia 2.
Logitech MX3000 Keyboard and Mouse with SetPoint installed
    Tested on Winamp 5.2
Here's the deal: I always keep my Wave and Master volume at full via Windows, and control my volume using my speaker's volume knob. I noticed that whenever I turned my speaker volume to very low levels I only got sound from my right speaker.
To conclusi'vely test this I fired up Winamp, set the volume to 00% LEFT, and turned down the speaker volume until I could no longer hear any music.
Then when I moved the slider to 00% RIGHT (at the same volume).... I got sound from the right speaker (so unfortunately what I was testing for turned out to be true).
Is there a reason why one of my speakers is louder than the other? The ProMedia's controller is integrated into the right speaker casing, is it possible it'll always be a little bit louder since its connected directly to the sub?
Or is it some sort of driver issue? I'm almost positi've that when I reinstalled my drivers w/ EAX I managed to get equal sound, but horrible echoing, so EAX had to go. When I installed again, the uneven volume returned. Because of this, I'm leaning towards it being driver related.
Any help would be appreciated, or even better, if anyone w/ ProMedias could do the same test for me and let me know their results.

Wasn't trying to imply this was a Creative problem. Truth be told, this is something I noticed long after I got my X-fi card. Cause of the problem could have gone either way. Least now I know who to blame. Still great speakers though.
As for the settings in the THX Setup Console; I haven't had an issue with the settings being lost. Thankfully so far so good. Knock on wood.

  • Help!!!!! I need to get iphoto lib off of hd which is running really slowly, and clicks rather more loudly than usual, how do i do this, im even on my iphone asking this!

Help!!!!! I need to get iphoto lib off of hd which is running really slowly, and clicks rather more loudly than usual, how do i do this, im even on my iphone asking this! Computer also runs inly marginally faster in safe boot mode! Could the apple store help?

It certainly sounds like your harddrive is dying.  I would Immediately backup your harddrive to an external USB or Firewire harddrive Before doing anything else.  It just may save your data in time before you lose it all.
    Hope this helps

  • I have a 15 inch Mac Book Pro and recently it has started to run louder than normal?

For about a month now my Macbook Pro has been running louder than usual, and its hot to the touch. As far as programs running, I'm usually just doing basic things such as using the internet or on Microsoft Word. Is there any reason why this might of just started occuring?

  • Retina Macbook Pro 13 inch late 2013 left speaker louder than right

I was using my macbook pro and i noticed that the left speaker is louder than the right one. I checked the sound settings and it is set to the middle but the right one is still very faint.

    Hello a brody,
I have tested it with my MacBook Late 2008 an my new 13 inches MacBook Pro Retina Display
If you have anything open at the time the shut down is taking place, yes.
    Nothing opened on both computers.
If you have anything connected other than power to the computer, yes.
Nothing connected. Onply plugged and with Wifi Internet connection both.
If your hard drive is very full, yes.
My MacBook has more things that my new MacBook Pro Retina in the hard drive.
Repairing permissions can help.   Non-Apple utilities can hinder it.
Apple Care staff did did that told me that and we did it with no result
But, thanks for your reply !

  • First Outgoing Call Ring Louder Than The Rest?

Ok well first off, The iPhone is awesome. I have a good battery life (77 hours of standby time and going...), volume on Ipod and Movies is decent.
My question is this, I've noticed that when I make an outgoing call the first ring that comes through the earpiece and speakerphone is LOUD, loud enough for me to hear it without it pressed against my cheek. The crazy thing is that the 2nd ring and following rings are really low and stays that low during conversation which leads me to believe that there is a glitch that could be fixed. Is anyone else notice this?
Everything else about the iPhone is AWESOME!!!!

Both my husband's and my iPhone have the first outgoing ring significantly louder than the rest of the call.

  • Trying to make sound louder than standard controls allow me

    HI,
I am trying to make the volume louder than the standard controls allow me to. Using my laptop for conference calls with a large group of people is difficult.
I have the HP Elitebook Folio 9470m laptop.
My operating system is Windows 7 Enterprise, service pack 1.
    Thanks
    Kirsten

As it turns out, Elitebook 9470m is an ultrabook standard PC and has tiny speakers which may be good for the person sitting in front of it but for a larger audience, the sound output is not adequate.
If it was audio from a video then you could have tried something but in a conference call, it would not be possible to increase the sound.
I suggest you to have a look at notebook portable speakers which come in a variety of sizes and are designed to fit in a laptop bag so that the user can carry them along. These are not very expensive.
Look for search query: laptop USB portable speakers.
