Music messing up audio books

has any one tried playing a audio book they riped in Itunes in music IOS 6?
i have 1/2 of my library is audio books i have ripped and IOS 5 would play them in the order they were ripped looking at disk number and track number to know the correct order to play them in. but IOS 6 seams to ignore this and only look at track number or the track title not sure what so it will jump from chapter 2 to chapter 100 or chapter 3 to chapter 47. its all over the place but its consistant with how its jumping around.
Apple Development you had this issue before when you first added the ability with Itunes to switch type of media from music to audio book a few years ago then you got it fixed now you screwed it up again. What is your deal.

I import audiobooks checked out from my local library, then import them into itunes. Sometimes adjustments have to be made so the discs will link together. Once linked, I could drop in the audiobook artwork and, using the Options tab, switch the format from Music to Audiobook. Immediately, the whole thing would move from Music to Audiobooks, where it could be synced with the iPhone and iPad.
Now, there is no longer an Audiobooks tab in iTunes, only a Books tab. Worst of all, when I attempt to switch from Music to Books prior to an iPhone or iPad sync, chaos happens. Instead of the new Audiobook listing the chapters in order, e.g. Disc 1 Chapter 1a, Disc 1 Chapter 1b, Disc 1 Chapter 1c, it is ordered as Disc 1 Chapter 1a, Disc 2 Chapter 1a, Disc 3 Chapter 1a. I have tried various fixes, to no avail. When I mentioned to a young lady in an Apple store, she (and I am not kidding) said she thought many people might not mind such a thing. I told her it was nearly the dumbest thing I have ever heard in my life!
Notably, the books play just fine if you play them as Music. You can sync as Music and it also runs fine on the iPhone and iPad. Also, everything synced previously still works as before. But it is annoying and I think a sign that Apple's near supremacy in this area may have peaked - especially if they don't get this fixed very fast. I can no longer synch music library and audio books, it says can only be synched with one of the libraries, anyone else had this?

i had to reboot my laptop, so reloaded itunes sofware, im now finding that when i'm synching my Iphone to synch audio books ive downloaded, , it says its synched with another itunes library ( my music) do i want to erase this iphone and lsynch with this iphone library, the music percentage at the bottom reduces to 0% in prep to erase.

try a new/fresh apple brand cable and make sure it is the only usb cable in use. this worked for me, i noticed i had no problem with a lighting cable. i did a restore from scratch and from backup and it did not help me...and if you cant sync than you wont be able to get anything but apps back after the restore

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

- Unsync all media and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

How to get the music player--for audio books--to p...

I've been using a Sony MP3 player to listen to audio books that I can chek out of my local library using a software product known as "Overdrive Media console" I see that there's an app for this on the Nokia 920, but the only output I can get is via the speaker. I haven't tried a plug-in headset.
Any ideas?

If u have an iPod u can transfer purchases from there. be sure to Authorize account on your new laptop. Press Check for purchases on the Store tab once u have authorized it and see if u have anything there not yet downloaded. All else fails, contact apple, Im sure they would allow u get them again if u have the purchase emails they send to bill u. Good luck

Can you transfer music and audio books between computers via home sharing?

I just reformatted my iMac and would like to restore some music and an audio book from my MacBook Pro. Somehow, I got the audio book onto my MacBook Pro, which was originally downloaded to my iMac, but now I can't seem to transfer it back.

I figured it out. Home sharing was not activated on the iMac, even though I could see both computers on each computer. I tried to transfer all my music from the iMac to my MacBook Pro before I wiped everything off the iMac, but couldn't figure it out. I with I knew that before I reformatted it. I do, however, however, have everything backed up on disks. iTunes is one of the most confusing programs I've ever used...

The answer from Zevoneer is only partially correct. *THERE IS A GLITCH IN iTUNES PROGRAMMING* that will make your book impossible to listen to if you change it from Music mode to Audio book mode through Options "Media Kind". This is what happens. Under iTunes Preferences, under Advanced, there is a box that says "Keep iTunes Music folder organized". When checked, this "Places files into album and artist folders, and names the files based on the disc number, track number, and the song title." So when you keep a book in the Music section, it stays organized.
HOWEVER, if you change that book to "Audio book" mode, all those files get mixed up. The "Audio book" section does not list Disc numbers (equivalent to Albums); it ONLY lists tracks. If a book has tracks labeled, for instance "The Bell Jar 2a", "The Bell Jar 2b" etc., then the book will play correctly. BUT if the book has cuts labeled "Track 1", Track 2", etc. then you will end up listening to Disc 1, Track 1 followed by Disc 2, Track 1, etc.. In other words, the books tracks end up completely jumbled, not a great way to follow a story! *APPLE, YOU NEED TO FIX THIS!!!* Asking us to label each track separately is inefficient and silly, when all you need to do is to get iTunes to recognize the Disc numbers, just as it does in Music mode.

Audio book not showing on ipad

I can not see my audio books on my ipad without searching for them from search ipad. I have synced the ipad with my computer using wireless and cable but nothing shows up in music > more for audio books. I am using the updated 7.0.3. I synced my iphone and they show up. I origanally downloaded the books on my ipad, but I have synced with my computers itune a few times. Any help would be appreciated.

When you use the search box are you able to then select the audiobooks and play them, and do they show in Settings > General > Usage > Music ?
Have you tried closing the Music app via the iPad's multitasking bar and seeing if you get the Audiobooks tab at the bottom of the Music app when you re-open the app ? Double-click the home button to open the taskbar, and then swipe or drag the Music app's screen from there up and off the top of the screen to close it, and click the home button to close the taskbar.

Audio book tracks run together

I have transferred audio books to iTunes and then to my iPod and the tracks run together at the very end of each track. How do I solve this?

I probably should have mentioned that the audio book music type is not set to audio book. For all intents and purposes the way I have my books set should make them no different from a normal music album (just with a much higher number of tracks in most cases). If this had been my first time importing an audio book cd/download I may be more inclined to try a 3rd party software to help resolve the issue, however my books used to play fine, as albums, for several years over the course of several ipods and are just now giving me this issue.
I did make an attempt in my own troubleshooting to change one of the problem books' music type to audio book. This did nothing more then move the book out of my normal library view and hide it under the audio book category. The issue of each track acting as it's own album did not change.

I have bought several audio books from the iTunes Store. I used to access them through the Music app's "audio books" icon (with albums, artists, etc., icons). Suddenly, the "audio books" icon is gone. It's the same with the iTunes program on my computer--the Audio Books section has vanished. Audio books have not been moved over to the iBooks app, which has my written (not audio) books as always.
I sync my purchases between devices with with iCloud, but there is no longer an Audio Books section under "Purchased" in the iTunes Store. When I search the iTunes Store for the book I want to listen to, it gives me the opportunity to spend another $20+ to buy the audio book, but no option to download what I've already bought and paid for.

Audiobooks are a one-time only download, they won't appear in the Purchased section for re-downloading - I think that they are all supplied to Apple by audlibe.com, so I assume that it's them requiring the one-time rule.

Problem syncing Audio Books

Hi, i have this audio book from my brother,
When i dropped it in itunes library,it just add to the music list like a song,
I want it to be shown in the AudioBooks page,
when i synced my IPOD even there the audiobook is in the MUSIC directory,not in the Audiobooks directory,
Can anyone help me in placing the audiobooks in the correct folder,

It sounds like it's tagged as music , not an audio book . i get that alot .
what i do is connect my ipod , itouch , to my itunes and i believe its right click and the info for the track comes up and one of those selections is voice , music or audio book . Change each to audio book and that works .

Audio Book Downloads

I recently purchased an audio book from the store but it will not download to iTunes on my iPhone 3GS. Can anyone help?

Seems that they are coded as music and not audio books.
If you can right click on them in your iTunes library and change the media kind to Audio Books under the Option tab do that.
Otherwise that is how the books were coded and how Overdrive added them. Not an Apple/iTunes problem.

That's not the issue iCloud was not a option and backing up previous purchased audio books was not a problem but now it is. One download or more like one year etc...? Otherwise its back to the dark ages. Perhaps but then why has support not responding if its this simple? iCloud now gives another money grab opportunity light. Oh I'm sure a notice was posted by iTune and now my purchases have lapsed. It's only money what I don't agree with is the terms changing wasting my time and not responding. I've asked the questions, done the requirements but iCloud is a mess for if not managed daily. They change terms and environments as they please. Hey it's in the fine Print buyer beware.

I can't delete my audio books from my music in my ipod. have deleted them fromi tunes library. they are grey out in my ipod music folder and can do nothing with them. can't accerss options under summary of my ipod either to operate manually. thanks den

How to I have one iTunes library that enables me to keep my music on my laptop, and my podcasts and audio books on a separately mapped hard drive?

I'd like to enjoy ONE iTunes library on my laptop, which isn't big enough to store all my content, so I'd like my single iTunes library to have a LOCAL drive portion for my music, and then - when I'm at home, have my iTunes library be able to ALSO include a large library of podcasts & audio books.
I currently have TWO iTunes libraries - a big one on a big drive at home, and a not-so-big on on my laptop.   This is, of course, a nightmare, because I have to resynch my iPod to use one or the other.
Ideally, I'd like to transfer content from my home PC iTunes OR my laptop iTunes - to my iPod and iPhone.     But I can only use one or the other library.     So, I guess the next best thing is - how to do this? - have an iTunes library on my laptop and then, when I have access to my home network, be able to see additional iTunes content - books and podcasts.    I need this in order to transfer books etc. to my iPod/iPhone, as well as music.
Any suggestions?      In this regard - Windows is way the heck easier to manage than iTunes.

Use your computer's backup to transfer your iTunes library from your old computer to your new computer per the instructions included with this link, or do the same with both computers networked in some fashion, which shouldn't be hard to do if both computers are connected to the same wireless network.

CD songs load as Audio book tracks. How can I get them into music library?

Strange. Some songs I've imported into iTunes from CDSs load into the Audiobooks folder. I can't drag them into the music folder. In one case, one song from one CD - but not any of the others - will only import as an audiobook. I can't even import it from my

In iTunes 8:
Select Track(s) > right click > get info
Options tab > Media Kind
if you want the track to appear in Music select Music or Audiobook if you want it in the Audiobook tab.
It's also useful to set the Genre of audio books to something common (spoken, audiobook etc)
