Music moving around within track ???

I cut a piece of music into a sequence with picture. I line it up, make keyframe adjustments to the levels etc and everything is fine. BUT THEN, when I come back to the sequence later, the song no longer starts where it did before. The track still appears where I cut it in, but the audio within the music starts later...like up to 20 seconds later. Any ideas?
Music files on .aif

Ooops... Audio is at 44.... 16 bit.... but would that cause this situation? It plays fine
I haven't seen it cause that big a problem but, you never know, every system is different.
Easy to verify. Try converting it to 48 and see if it helps. You can export the audio to AIFF from FCP then re-import.
You might want to copy your existing clip before you replace it with the new one, then you can use Paste Attributes to copy over all your "rubber band" work to the new file.

  • Moving around within an audiobook

4th generation Ipod with clickwheel, audiobooks from Audible.com. I used to be able to use the clickwheel to move forward or back within an audiobook, by sliding my thumb on the clickwheel. Now it will adjust the volume but not let me move around - what happened? If I right click on the clickwheel I jump way forward, left click jump way back, can't move around otherwise.

    Oh well, nice try.

  • Moving around within an audiobook: Has this been addressed?

I love my iPod Touch, but have found that it's useless for audiobooks. I haven't figured out how to use the "playback position slider" to move around inside the audiobook. I must be doing something wrong.
For example, if I need to back up a minute or two to re-listen to something I may have missed or move ahead a little, I'm sunk. The slider (incidentally only visible in vertical mode: why is that??) is 3/4" long, so that -- on a file of (say) more than an hour long -- the tiniest movement of my finger will scroll the file ahead or back 8 or 20 or 37 minutes... and then I can't even find my way back to the old position (e.g. I might recall that I left off at 14:35, but there's no way I can see to get there).
This seems like such a colossally bad design -- I must be doing something wrong. Help!

  • Desktop moving around within screen

Looks like I might have pressed the wrong keys somewhere. The size of the desktop image has become about 2 ins. larger than the size of the screen so that, when I move on the trackpad, the whole screen image including all the programs on it moves around. So, if I circle my finger on the trackpad, the whole desktop and everything on it circles too. I have gotten over the sea-sick feeling now but I was trying to use Grab and it kept selecting a different area of the screen to the one I thought I was selecting which would indicate there is a mismatch between where Grab thinks the pointer is and where it actually is. I have tried adjusting the screen resolution to no effect and looked everywhere I can think of so I would really appreciate it if anyone knows how to cure this. Thank you.

Go into System Preferences and under Universal Access and the Seeing tab, set Zoom to off.
You will also see that Option-Command-= is the key combo you must have accidentally pressed. You could also leave Zoom on if you want and use Option-Command-- to unzoom.

  • Audio moving around within a piece?

Ok, this is one of the weirdest things I've ever seen. We have been tweaking a feature film soundtrack for a client, going back and forth on minor adjustments over the past month or two. They called me yesterday to tell me that near the end of the film, there's a 1 minute chunk of audio from somewhere in the middle of the film. when that 1 minute chunk ends, the soundtrack continues on in perfect sync like nothing ever happened.
It's not like the soundtrack is 1 minute longer, which would indicate an accidental copy/paste into that area. the audio that should be there was somehow replaced by this other section from earlier in the film (a section we didn't touch, by the way, so copy/paste is highly unlikely), and then when it ends, the track continues on normally.
We have only used Soundtrack Pro (v1.1) to make levels adjustments and to clean up a couple of pops here and there in the track. No other application (other than FCP) has touched this file. I've confirmed that the raw capture from Digital Betacam tape is correct, that the AIFF exported from FCP is correct, and that all of the revisions up to the most recent are correct. The most recent adjustments we did were to the audio levels near the end of the film, in that area.
I have no idea what could have caused this, and i'm hoping it's human error, but i'm wondering if anyone has a suggestion as to what this might be? ideas?

  • Photoshop CS2 redraw garbage when moving around an image window on my G4 laptop

Hi.I recently had to reinstall Photoshop CS2 onto my Mac Laptop 1.5 GHz PowerPC G4, running system 10.4.11, which required a new hard drive after the old one died. I am immediatly encountering a serious redraw/image repositioning problem in Photoshop that I have never seen before, and in Imageready as well. This does not happen in Macromedia Fireworks 8 however.
I am zoomed into an image. Using the hand tool, or the scroll bars or the arrows, as soon as I move an image little messed up line graphic glitches appear and stay in place for the remainder or working with an image, and ultimately covers the image completely after moving around within it a number of times. you can see examples of this in these screenshots I've uploaded:
    http://pixeljam.com/temp/photoshopRedrawGarbage/moveGarbage04.gif
    http://pixeljam.com/temp/photoshopRedrawGarbage/moveGarbage03.gif
    http://pixeljam.com/temp/photoshopRedrawGarbage/moveGarbage02.gif
and the lines stay the same size and position even when zooming in. here's the same image w/ the same defects zoomed out and in:
    http://pixeljam.com/temp/photoshopRedrawGarbage/moveGarbage01.gif
    http://pixeljam.com/temp/photoshopRedrawGarbage/moveGarbage01_zoomed.gif
I've tried trashing & re-installing photoshop completely, tried running it before the updates needed from the original Photoshop application disk, and after. still the same problem.
This occurs only when using the laptop on its own. When I hook it up to my Apple Studio Cinema Display, it works fine. The problem does not occur on the Cinema Display OR the laptop screen! it's very odd. Basically, the laptop is now something I cannot actually use away from my desk until this is resolved.
Has anyone ever encountered this or possibly have any suggestions or advice? Thanks so much!

Hi. Thanks for your responses. There is definitely some incorrectness in the info I provided about the computer. for the Hard Drive, it's odd.. I copied and pasted that from my system profiler.. In actuality the Hard Drive is 74.53 GB. Not sure how that error occurred.
Also I looked again at the computer's memory. I forgot the second larger 1GB memory card when I was copying and pasting from the system profiler. Sorry about that. I was in a but of a rush to get the question out.

Another thing I noticed about the problem I'm facing is that it leaves defects from mouse trails as well in the image window. None of the defects are lasting nor will they print. I close the file and they go away, if I zoom, they stay the same size. I'd agree, it sounds like a video card problem, but the reason I posted here is that only in photoshop and imageready do these problems occur. My guess, if it's the video card is that they are just programs that require more of the system. why my video card would be crapping out now, I have no idea. but I guess that's how it goes.
But why would it work fine when hooked up to the apple cinema display? even on the laptop screen itself the problem is not present. only when the laptop is on its own.
The computer has served me very well for almost 3 years without this problem, so that's why it's something that is not a normal problem that should be expected from this computer. I am grateful to have it & can't afford a new one.. this one is still sitting on my credit card balance. Thankfully I am under the applecare protection plan and will bring it in to the local Mac shop on monday and demonstrate the issue to them.
    Thanks for your replies.

  • HT1947 Does anyone else have my problem with atv3? Plays films in iTunes without any problems but on music every time I use the remote app on my iPhone 3GS it stops playing after around 5 tracks in. Anyone having this problem?

Does anyone share my problem with atv3 I can play films through iTunes without any problems. When I start playing music using the remote app on my iPhone 3GS after around 5 tracks in it just stops playing and seems to lose my connection. Hoping this is human error on my part?

I think this is probably a sign that your network could be better than it is.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first.

  • Moving photos around  within imovie project

I am creating a slide show using imovie and when I imported the folder from iphoto, it rearranged all the photos. Is there an easy way to move them around within the project? I'm using imovie'11 for the first time.
    thx

You can drag them in the iMovie project to wherever you want them.
Also, if you drag in from an iPhoto event, it seems to import in chronological order or something. However, if you create an iPhoto album, you can arrange the order in the album. When you import the album into iMovie through the iMovie Photo Browser, it will retain the order of the iPhoto Album.

  • How to avoid music wrapping around new clip placed before it(imovie'11)

Hi.  My project starts with a quick fade to black transition and a muted video clip with music wrapped around them both.  My project is about 21 minutes long and there are many other muted clips with music tracks over them and, of course, they all are placed perfectly for my needs.
Well I want to add some new video clips at the beginning of all I have done so far.  But when I add a new video clip to the beginning of the project, the green  music bubble "wraps" around my newly added video clip.  If I start to try to move things back in place, all goes haywire, so I end up undoing everything to get back to where I was.
Is there a way to add a new video clip to the beginning of my project without the music moving back to wrap around it?
    Thank you!!

  • Not happy with moving around keys on the timeline

I just changed from Final Cut to Premiere CS5.0 and I really like it. Working on a Macbook Pro i5 2.3GHZ, Mac OSX 10.7 But I am not happy with moving around on the timeline. I was used to using the up and down arrows to move to next video edit point, marker point or audio edit point. I tried everything to change it, highlighted the track etc. It only works together with the FN key, which is a bit uncomfortable. And then it definetely is not going to any audio edit points (very annoying!!!) and marker points (have to use Q and W keys). It makes me doubting if continuing with Premiere or not. Its such an esencial and easy to use tool while editing in a normal fast editing rythm. When I change it in the customize keyboard menu, into a Custom keyboard or FCP keyboard, it would ignore my changes on the arrowkeys, although it recognizes any other changes I do. Is it so complicate to change this issue in Premiere to how it is set in FCP? Its such an obvious tool, using the arow keys to move around, cannot beleive that we have to live with such a limitation. Please!!!

You dont have to live with that at all if you are fixed only to what you have previously done.

    There ya go!

  • Is there a way to creat a hard break in a song, followed by a measure or so of silence, then bring the music back in within the garageband format?

Is there a way to creat a hard break in a song, followed by a measure or so of silence, then bring the music back in within the garageband format?

I am not quite sure what you want to achieve, but you can
    select all tracks at once,
move the cursor to the measure where you want to cut your song
Press cmd-T to cut all tracks at the same position
select all regions in all tracks to the right of the cut and drag them one measure to the right
Alternately you might show the Master  Track (Main menu; Track -> Show Master Track) and use the Master Volume automation curve to silence all tracks at once for exactly one measure.

  • The "moving around" slideshow effect

Does anyone know if it is possible to get the "moving around" slideshow effect outside iPhoto in:
    -an exported DVD/mpeg slideshow
    -slideshow effect in Aperture
The move around effect is really nice in combination w/ music, and it would have been super to pass that same feeling on when sharing an album with others through a dvd or mpeg file.
Greatful for some input in this matter!

You might take a look at PhotoPresenter. Besides the KB effect it has over 25 animated themes which are pretty spectacular. This demo page has examples of a few of them.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Moving Around the Timeline

    Hi,
Just a quick question about moving around the timeline. I'm using the up and down arrow keys to jump between cuts, but for some reason I can jump back beween cuts, but when clips are stepped up it doesn't seem to let me jump forward to the next edit.(I'm on the FCP keyboard config)
Also, to jump forward the begining, or back to the end I'm supposed to use the home/end key. does anyone know what this is on a MacBook Pro keyboard?
    Thx

I'm using the up and down arrow keys to jump between cuts, but for some reason I can jump back beween cuts, but when clips are stepped up it doesn't seem to let me jump forward to the next edit.
I assume you're referring to when you have more than one track with clips on them. In that case, you need to be mindful of which tracks are targeted; that controls which tracks are subject to the Next/Previous Edit commands.
    For example:
Any track that isn't targeted will be ignored by the Next/Previous Edit commands. Just click the header "button" to enable or disable a track. Track targeting affects many other operations in Premiere Pro--for example, adding edits or applying transitions. Check out this Help document page for some more info: Targeting tracks
Not sure about the MBP keyboard question, but a Google search for such turned up this: Home and End Keys on the Macbook Pro

  • How to deal with moving around like in gta2?

    Hi there,
I'm programming an game but i was wondering how to deal with moving around like in gta2.
my game is also top-down with you(tha player) constantly in the middle of the screen. I know how to deal with button press etc.. but how to calculate how manny pixels the map has to move in the x and y axis...
It's difficult to explain for me.. but hope the picture is clear..
    greetings

I was afraid for this one already.. the picture is not clear:) thanx for your response so far.. I will try again.. with the game gta2 in mind:)
    see this screenie: http://www.vollversion.de/bilder/705_1_full.jpg
My game looks the same as gta2 top down... with the character in the middle of the screen(the one firing the flame thwower )(the player). if i press up he walks towards the police car.. if i press left or right.. he only turns around(an combination of pressing up and left is also posible) thus the character walks in the direction he's facing.
Now i would like to know how did they do this? how to programm such a movement? Because the character is standing constnatly in the middle of the screen the map has to move like in almost every game... how to calculate the x and y axis movement of the map?
Please.. try agian.. hopefully the screenie will help.
