Music Not Playing Through iTunes (Windows 7)

Good Day Folks!
For about the 20th time, I have turned on my external hard drive and iTunes and none of my music will play. The speakers are working just fine. However, when I select a song to play literally nothing happens.
I searched online for answers and checked the wired and all the control panel suggestions that have been made...still nothing.
Can anyone assist? This is getting annoying and tiring.
Thanks,
Bill

Have you tried using any other headphones?
Or maybe try plugging your headphones into another device to see if they work.
Because it could be the headphones not working.
If not, come back to me. :)

  • Music not playing in iTunes after iOS5/Itunes 10.5 updates.

    Hi,
I recently updated both my iTunes to 10.5 and iPod touch 4g to iOS 5.  I updated on my laptop (which i am on now, and have the issue with).  The laptop is running 10.6.8, and has no music on the hard drive.  I plug my iPod into the laptop to use the lap top speakers and play the music through itunes.  I have never had a problem since updating.  Now half of my music is not playing from the computer, however it plays fine directly from the iPod speakers.  When I updated I erased all music on the iPod and started over.  Any ideas on what the problem is here?

  • Help! Music not "playing" in Itunes

So I updated to the newest version of iTunes (7.3.2) today and upgraded my iPhone to 1.1.1.
Now, any music in my iTunes library will not play. The top of the screen shows the song title and artists name/album, and the run time...but nothing happens. I hit play...nothing. I try clicking randomly along the track...nothing. My volume is up (I can load up Youtube and listen with no issues. As many times as I hit Play/Pause, it never moves. My Apple TV works fine as does my iPhone. Anyone know why?

Searched and found the answer...for those curious...

    Finally, someone figured it out!
    Basically,
Start Menu>Control Panel>(at this point, I just typed "Quicktime" into the search menu)QuickTime, then click the Audio tab and in that tab, the "Select Audio Playback and Recording Devices" button. A small window popped up and said some sort of driver enhancement was causing problems, would I like to stop it? Click Yes.
Try iTunes again--mine finally works now!

  • Music not playing in itunes/preview

hi, I updated my macbook pro last night to yosemite and now some of my music doesn't play in itunes or even in preview. In the same albums there are some that play and some that don't even open on itunes and when i open them in preview it says that they have 25ish minutes. I thought i might have saved the music to my hard drive incorrectly but i tried them now in VLC and they all play. Anyone has any idea how to solve this?

    Hi pythium,
That some of the songs from the same album play make it sound like it's not an authorization issue. See if it's a permissions issue then.
Some of my iTunes Store purchases won't play
Check and repair permissions issues (Mac OS X only)
If you're using Mac OS X, you may have incorrect permission settings on your computer hard disk. Follow these steps to check and repair the permissions:
    Open Disk Utility (in /Applications/Utilities).
Select your Mac OS X volume in the left column, then click the First Aid tab.
    Click Repair Disk Permissions.
    Take care,
    Nubz

  • IPhone music not accessible through iTunes

My phone is recognized on iTunes as a device, but all of the sudden there are no music tabs or playlist tabs--the main device tab is the only thing I can click on.  And I can't manage my music through iTunes anymore.  I just updated my iTunes and my iPhone software is up to date, but it did not fix the problem.  Any clues?

Thanks for your response.  I have turned on iTunes Match in the Settings>Music.  I cannot find Setting>iTunes & App Stores.  I do see Settings>Store and within that setting Automatic Downloads Music and Apps which I have turned on.  I don't see anywhere else that iTunes Match is mentioned except Settings>Music.  Am I mising something?

  • Sustained notes played through iTunes waver in frequency-sounds sick

I up-loaded all my CDs to iTunes on my previous Mac (G4 iMac with the hemispherical base) and downloaded them to my 3 iPods. After that I upgraded to the G5 Intel Mac. Now, some songs with sustained notes played directly from the G4 waver in frequency sounding sickly. If I play or up-load one of the original CDs to the G5, it, too, sounds sick. These same songs on my 3 iPods still sound okay even though they’ve been synced to the new G5. I downloaded my library to the new iPod touch and the affected songs sound OK. What’s the problem? Have other people had this same problem?

Sure sounds like a problem with the audio circuit in the Mac Mini.
The speakers you are using are they powered? Is there an amp involved in the setup? I'm not familiar with the particular model of Mac Mini, does the audio jack double as a TosLink connector (digital audio) as it does in later years models? If so and you external setup has the capability you could try going digital to see if that helps.
Finally if all else fails you could go with a USB to analog audio converter such as Amazon.com: Digital to Analog Audio Converter with USB ... for example (note I have no personal experience with that unit just throwing it out as one possibility).
Wish I had more for you

  • Music not playing in itunes 8.02, seems like a constant pauze/freeze

    Hey,
so lately I've been having he problem that my itunes has stopped playing music. I'd select a song and click play and nothing happens, and browsing to a different point in the song doesn't help - it never plays and the song seems frozen.
Youtube videos and other sound works fine, and this is a new problem and I don't recall changing any options in either Itunes, Vista, or my sound system.
My vista running laptop is perfectly able to run itunes, and it was even capable of playing music before. I do not know why this problem suddenly surfaced.
Any thought ? Anyone know how to fix this problem ?

I have the exact same problem.
Music simply doesnt play, please help.

  • Music not playing in itunes

Recently some of the songs I have in iTunes won't play anymore. Whenever I click on a song to play it says it can't find it even though I have it saved in my library. I get a little exclamation in a circle when it won't play. I have to manually find it myself for it to play. Whenever I leave iTunes and go back in later, it does this again and sometimes it's different songs that won't play. Can anyone help me? Getting pretty frustrated over here!

Is it because I should not have Itunes on a portable HD or is it because it detects automatically that there is no sound card ?
The iTunes system requirements does not mention anything about a Sound Card. Although in order to hear anything you would need a Sound Card, and this most likely is the case.

  • ICloud and music not bought through iTunes

I have a giant CD collection that I digitized into iTubes: its by far the bulk of my iTunes library. Will iCloud allow me to store that music in teh cloud, or only music bought and downloaded via iTunes?

"I guess I had hoped the cloud would extend the same convenience of use to non-itunes-purchased music."
It is just as easy. iTunes match will scan you library of non-iTunes purchases.
This is so you do not need to upload them to the cloud.
"The whole point is easy synchronization across my multiple digital devices."
    Exactly!
"And of course i don't NEED to upload my collection, but I sure would like to be able to, simply and reasonably because I like to listen to my music."
And? This is the point of iCloud and iTunes match. iTunes match means you do not have to upload much of your music because it is already available on the iCloud/iTunes servers. Why have millions of people upload the exact same song, millions of times? It
"My original question was about whether or not I CAN upload my own music. Can I?"
This question was already answered, yes.
But you don't need to, because most of your music will already be on the iCloud/iTunes servers.
"The cloud isn't about need anyway, really, nor is an iPad or iPod or any of it:"
    What?

  • My itune music videos will not play through my soundlink air

Why do my itune music videos not play through my Bose Soundlink Air?  My downloaded music plays fine.  Also my music videos play through my iTouch its just through my Mac computer they won't.

I have had a almost identical problem but with windows 8 and with the internal speakers because i am using a laptop

  • Since my software update none of my music that I did not purchase through itunes work on my iphone? It sees the songs but none play.  How do I resolve this issue?

    Hello,
Since I updated my iphone none of my music that I did not purchase through itunes no longer works on my iphone.  It is weird, the music is on the iphone but in gray and the iphone does not recognize it.  The only songs that I could play are my songs that I downloaded on my phone that were purchased through itunes.
Another error: When I purchase a new song on itunes it doesn't put the song in my purchased playlist like it used too.  In order for me to play that song I just purchased I have to go back to the itunes store and play it directly from the place I purchased it from which is super annoying.
Frankly I am really disappointed with the constant errors from upgrades that should be "Up grades" Not "down grades".  Not sure why is going on but not seems to work the same anymore.  Does anyone have any idea what is wrong with my iphone music?
    Thank you,
    Dago

You will probably lose the music.
Why is it not on your computer?
Have you failed to maintain a backup copy?

  • HT4528 After my last sync my iTunes no longer plays any music not purchased in iTunes. Any suggestions?

I did the latest update and synched my iPhone 5C, after the sync all music that was not purchased through iTunes will not play on my phone. I figured out how to "homeshare" those songs but they aren't really on my phone so once wifi is off I no longer have them. Any suggestions? Most of these song were off of cds. I don't want to purchase them all again through iTunes what a waste of money. I'm feeling super annoyed.
    Thanks for any help!

    Hi there dryval76!
There are a couple of reasons for seeing an issue such as that. I have a couple of articles that can help you troubleshoot and find out the source of the issue. The first is an article about troubleshooting issues with playing songs in iTunes, and it can be found here:
iTunes 11 for Mac: If you have trouble playing music or other audio
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12135
If the issue is happening in all areas of your computer, not just iTunes, then you will want to reference this article:

  • Can you tell me why none of my music will play I had a little box that came up saying all your items are ticked so they will not play on itunes what does this mean it's driving me nuts help!!!

HI there can you tell me why none of my music will play on itunes it just displays a message saying it cannot be located please help it is driving me nuts
    Jan

About 5 days ago for no apparent reason at all, about
7000 songs which i have collected over a number of
years has just decided that it wont play in ITUNES or
in any other of my media players. When you click on
Play over a song nothing happens. The play icon
doesnt even come up on the screen.
Steps I have taken so far are:
1 - Remove all tracks from ITUNES and then re-add the
folder where all the songs are. This has obviously
removed all songs, but when I have re-added the
folder , it has added about 650 tracks back on to the
playlist. These 650 tracks will play. This leaves
approx 6400 tracks that it wont play.
By the way all the songs on my PC are MP3 type and I
have had no problem playing any of them until last
    week.
    2 - I have re-installed ITUNES and reinstalled
Quicktime and that has not worked.
3 - All of my songs are backed up on to a External
Hard Drive. I have tried to restore the songs and
also play them directly from the external hard drive.
I get the same problem when I do this.
4 - I have enabled and allowed all permissions for
the account that I am running the PC from.
I am guessing there must be some settnig or Registry
Key that is blocking me playing the tracks from the
PC. I have also tried to launch the songs in Media
Player and Sonic stage but thsi has not played
    either.
All the tracks are in the folder structure as they
were before so I know they are there. I just need to
    somehow unlock them.......
If anyone has any ideas, I would be very grateful as
I dont want to lose my entire music collection.
Also I cannot find anyweher on here that is a Support
number or email address for Apple as this is an
ITUNES issue and they should be resolving it for
    me!!!!
