Music on different computers

I have two different computers with iTunes on them. Currently I cannot access the internet with my computer that my iPod is installed on. Is it possible to download music on my other computer and put it on my iPod without burning it to a CD and importing it on the first computer?
iPod Mini   Windows XP

After connecting your iPod to the 'other computer' set it to manual manage. (This is done in iPod preferences which is the first thing you see in iTunes 7.) Now that the iPod is set to manually manage you can drag music from the computer to any iPod playlist and it will be added.
Note - to add music drag songs to the playlist you want them in. To erase songs from the iPod you must drag it from the iPod's main catalog, not a playlist.

I bought several songs from iTunes-Store. I changed two computers from windows to mac. Now i'm no more able to play the songs, because it's said, i have already saved the files on 5 computers. how can i clear from the others. i don't have the music on them anymore.

If you've reached your limit of 5 authorisations you have the option to deauthorise them all in one go from your iTunes Store account and start over again. *Just note that you can only use this option once a year*: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation
To deauthorise all computers associated with your account:
    1. Click iTunes Store in the Source pane.
    2. If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
    3. Click the Account button again (your ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
    4. In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.

  • HT1202 My iPod is set to manually manage music. I have tons of different music from different computers on my iPod. Unfortunately my iPod is getting old and I'd like to purchase a new one. Is there any way I can transfer all the music to a new iPod?

My Ipod touch is set to manually manage music. I have put music from my computer and iTunes account onto it, and music from other people's computer and iTunes accounts on it. Unfortunately I dropped my iPod and the screen cracked. It still plays music and everything just fine, but it has problems with it's battery life so I'd like to just get a completely new iPod nano. Is there any way I can transfer all the music from my iPod touch onto a new iPod nano? From what I can tell it won't let me sync any of the music on my iPod touch that is from other people's computers onto my laptop, and so I wouldn't be able to put it on a new iPod nano. Hopefully that makes sense. I'd just really really like to be able to keep all that music and not lose 2/3 of my iPod touch music library because I want to put it on a newer Ipod.

  • Transferring music from different computers

I'm trying to help a friend get her CD's transferred to her iPad. She has her iPad registered with an iTunes account at home, and I don't want to change that. Is there any way that I can use my iTunes to transfer her music to her device? She is not tech savvy and I'd like to avoid her having to learn to use iTunes at this point.
When I tried to put music on her iPad, iTunes said it would have to erase the content associated with her other computer, and I didn't know the extent of what that would erase, or what would happen when she next connects to iTunes on her home computer. There must be some support doc that explains how to manage this?

    Hi karenr,
Your friend needs to manage her iTunes library / files between her own computer and her iPad.

  • Can you down load music on different computers for nano

I have my own music down loaded on to my Nano. I no longer have use of that computer. Can I safely add to my collection of songs on the Nano with using another computer without wiping out my data?

Yes, but you must first configure your iPod for manual management by enabling the Manually manage music option from under the iPod's Summary tab in iTunes.

It will transfer to my main computer through a cd but it requires that locate on the harddrive. It will play on the computer once I locate it but it won't tranfer to the ipod when syncing. Any suggestions?

If the music you want to move from computer A to computer B is on your iPod the job is easy. There are free and shareware programs that transfer music from the iPod to your computer. Check out your favorite download site.

  • HT3819 How do I share music between different users on the same computer?

I understand Home Sharing helps me share music across different computers.  How do I share between different users on the same computer?  We have a few instances of iTunes on a single computer and have to download from the same CD each time.  I must be doing something wrong - seems crazy to have several copies of the same song on one hard-drive when Home Share allows for sharing across computers - how do I share within the same computer?  Please outline specific steps.  THANKS.

    Hello Whigged-out,
It sounds like you would like to share one library between two different users on your iMac.  I found an article with steps you can take to accomplish this:

  • Transfering music to other computers

I was wondering how i could transfer my music to different computers with my ipod without having to delete all of my songs on the ipod in order to transfer them?

Uh, there's lots and lots and lots of ways to do it now, even more than before.
iTunes: How to share music and video - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2688 - about Music Sharing and Home Sharing
Home Sharing Support page - http://www.apple.com/support/homesharing/

    Understanding Home Sharing - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3819
Sharing purchased content with Family Sharing - http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201085
iTunes: How to move [or copy] your iTunes library to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527 - Follow some of the steps here, except most of this applies to transferring to a new computer not an external drive so you need to ignore or change some steps, but first follow some of the steps in https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201625 about consolidating but ignore some of it because it really concentrates on backing up a library which is best done as part of a whole computer backup. In all honesty these documents are truly bewildering and can leave you in a hopeless jumble if you are trying to do is move a library and use it on a different drive.  -- if you really want to do something like this ask us and we can provide simpler instructions.
Copy files to a flash drive. Put into other computer and drag to iTunes.

  • How many different computers can i sync my ipod to and transfur music from?

how many different computers can i sync my ipod to and transfur music from? i am trying to sync my ipod to another laptop and add my music to that computer but i was wondering if there was a limit on how many computers you can do that with. thanks all.

You can authorize up to five computers for your iTunes purchases.
If manually managing your device you can add content from any library.
If automactially syncing content is managed from one library.
Purchased content can be transfered from a device into an authorised library, otherwise iTunes only transfers content to the device.

  • How do I access my music on two different computers?

I have the latest version of iTunes on my external hard drive, which I thought would make it easier to use iTunes on different computers. I have purchased quite a bit of music and have ripped several CDs, but I can't access any of it when I use my external hard drive with my laptop. I even downloaded iTunes directly onto my external hard drive to avoid this problem, but I can only see everything that I have purchased/downloaded into iTunes when I use the computer that I originally downloaded iTunes onto.
So my basic question is why can't I access everything I have on iTunes when I use my external hard drive with my laptop instead of my desktop computer?
    Thank you in advance!!!!

Mate, I have been having exactly the same problem, but found the answer a page back.......
I have installed latest iTunes onto my external HD but when I copy my music into it (also held on external drive), it gives an error saying not enough space on C:
It seems that although it is setup on the external, it automatically creates the library on C: rather than your external.
So, if you hold down shift whilst launching iTunes, it allows iTunes to look elsewhere to set up a new library.
Do this and choose create new library then select your external drive for the destination and hey presto!!
I am in the process now of having dumped my original music folder into iTunes and it is busy copying all into new library.
Presumably going to have 2 copies of all music once done but my drive is 320gig so no issue and will just delete the original when done.
    Hope this helps.

  • I accidently unplugged my iPod before ejecting it and now all my music is gone. Although it says that there is used space. I have music on a few different computers and not all backed up on one computer. Help! How do I get my music back?

I accidentally unplugged my iPod before ejecting it, which has never been a problem before. But today it says theres no music on it even though it says there's used space. I don't have my iPod backed up and my music is on several different computers. Help!! How do I get my music back?

  • How do I sync on 2 different computers without it deleting my stored music?

I have songs on my home computer loaded on my iPhone, & I have songs/albums loaded on my work computer. Is there a way to sync the 2 different computers using my iPhone? for instance, I have a new CD I downloaded onto my work computer that I want to add to my iPhone but it says it is going to delete all the music I have loaded on my phone already. can I add this CD to my iPhone & not delete all my music? When I sync my iPhone then to my home computer I'd like the CD to be added to that computer as well.
Thank you for your assistance with this & HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL
    Kntwt

But is it possible to (specifically) sync regularly with my PC iTunes library (as that computer has the larger HD), but everything else (contacts, photos, Mac Mail, etc.) to sync regularly on my Mac, sans hoops each time.
Correct, but you aren't syncing email account mailboxes and messages via the iTunes sync process. There is an option to transfer selected email account settings to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process and after the account settings are successfully transferred to your iPhone, there is no reason to continue including this as part of the sync process.
In regards to iTunes content, you can sync an iPhone with an iTunes library on a single computer only, and you can transfer photos to your iPhone from a single computer only. You can sync contact info, calendar events, and bookmarks with the supported applications on multiple computers.

  • Dowloading Music onto iPod from different computers

I have a PC & a laptop, each having different music on them...my question is, I had downloaded songs to my iPod mini & then later on plugged it into the laptop to download different songs & it erased all my music that was downloaded from the pc! Is it not possible to use different computers with your iPod?

    Vanessa,
That's also my name, by the way lol.
The reason why iTunes erased your library is because you are copying music from 2 different libraries. iTunes only lets you have 1 library to prevent music stealing.
Check out this link if you want to know how to use multiple computers but only 1 iPod

  • How do I Sync my itunes music between two different computers

Can anyone tell me the step-by-step instructions for how to Sync my itunes music between two different computer.... one Mac at work and a second at home. I want to bring over all my work music onto my home Mac, some of which is the same but much of it is different.

Are you able to connect the two computers in any way? For instance is the work computer a laptop that you can bring home and network with your personal one? If the two devices are connected in some away there are a few utilities that can help you sync iTunes across different computers. You could begin your research by having a look at these for instance:
    TuneRanger
    SuperSync
    syncOtunes
