Music on iphone 4s not playing right song and says it's playing but no sound?

My new iphone 4s has the same playlist as my previous iphone 4, but now all of a sudden, doesn't play music smoothly. The first issue I noticed was that the screen had one album cover on it indicating what song it was playing but would actually play something else entirely. This is not just for the songs I have that have album covers - it now plays a whole different song altogether that is displayed on the screen. My other problem is that some songs say they're playing (the pause symbol visible and countdown running as if something is playing) and I don't hear anything. Then out of the blue a new song starts and stops then stops altogether until the next song comes up. It also told me that a song I wanted to hear was available for download which made me think it was an itunes match problem. I've disabled itines match on my iphone so i don't have a clue what that's all about. My whole listening pleasure has ceased altogether.

I can't tell you WHY this worked but I'll share just in case...
I had the same problem.  No sound, the volume control buttons did nothing.  The sound icon would appear but no bars indicating the sound level.
My phone was NOT on mute, but I flicked the mute button anyway.
I don't know why or how, but that made the sound come back and the volume control buttons start working again.
(Just before this, I realized all my texts were gone - they came back with a reset but still!)

  • All of a sudden my IPhone will not play all of my music

All of a sudden my IPhone will not play my music.  I upgraded to ios5 awhile back and everything was fine in fact it was fine over a week ago now when I go to play it only shows the album art and the songs do not play. Also when the songs it wants to play (it's like it has a mind of it's own) play the album art and songs do not match up.  The majority of the songs are purchased from ITunes if that helps.  Thanks for your help!

I tried unsyching my music then resyncing as suggested in another post and I still have this problem.  I accidently reset all settings and I am wondering if this has anything to do with it, everything was fine until I did that.  Now the only thing it is syncing is the music I ripped and loaded none of my purchased music.  Very frustrating

Try force-closing the Music app: from the home screen, double-tap the home button, locate Music in the list at the bottom, tap and hold it until it wiggles, tap to close it, tap the home button again, then try to play your music again.

  • HT1391 Music that is on my computer and iPhone will not play using any media player

Media (songs) that are listed in iTunes and on the iPhone will not play.  The cursor skips over them.  Using Explorer I can see them on the disc, but clicking them and trying to play them with Quicktime, Windows Media Player or iTunes does not work.
Does anybody know what I can do to fix this?

Check the information on the song, Right-Click -> Get Info.
In the fist pane, (Summary), you will see the AppleId (Account Name) that was used to buy the song.
Be sure to login to use this account to register this computer to play the song
What I often see, Is that people have many different AppleID, sometime not even knowing it, which is a big problem.

  • My iPhone will not play music, and says it's connected to a dock when it's not. Help?

My iPhone will not play music. Whenever I try to play music through the speakers on my iPhone it won't let me adjust the volume (like it's connected to a dock) and when I do connect it to a dock, the music plays through the iPhone speakers. Also I've tried just listening to my music through earphones and it plays for around 6 seconds then it goes back to like it's connected to a dock. Help? I've tried turning it off and on, restarting it and even restoring it and nothing's worked.

It says this when not connected to the dock. His dock is an ihome which isn't an official Apple dock. I think my next step is to take the thing in to an Apple store.

  • My iphone will not play the music i have downloaded. can you help?

My iphone will not play the music I purchased and downloaded. Can you help?

That may be a problem related to network settings on your computer, or on the router that you use for connecting to the Internet.  Take a look at this article for a possible solution
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1368
Since this actually a problem with using iTunes, and not directly related to an iPod (or an iPad), you may also want to ask your question in the appropriate iTunes forum category
    https://discussions.apple.com/community/itunes
The specific problem is that you cannot connect to the iTunes Store when using the iTunes app, even through your computer has Internet access.

  • TS1717 iphone will not finish a song I am playing

My iphone will not let any song finish playing

I contacted Apple and they had me sign out of iTunes on both my iPhone and my computer. Apparently the song was locked in the download queue somehow, and signing out and in let it restart.

    Hey Hussain,
I am not sure whether the music will get restored.
    Anyway try this
    1.Connect iPhone to PC.
    2.Open iTunes
    3.Open iPhone Summary
    4.Go to Apps Tab
5.Under File Sharing Section Click on Music Downloader
6.Right side if you see your songs click on one song and press (CTRL + A).(hope you are using windows) and click  on save and then save to  a folder on your computer.
    7. Later just do steps till 5 to put to new iPhone then ...........
8.Click on save and select the music files which u want to put in that app.
    9.Click on apply to sync.
10.You should be having the music in that app
    Hope it helps,

  • HT201401 iphone 4S not playing sound from itunes or videos

iphone 4S not playing music or sound through videos, it will ring, sometimes have the sound for keyboard clicks, have turned it off, reset, complete reset, no change, it seems to think it is on a dock connector and even switches back to dock connector when I m usin it in the car with Bluetooth, please help!!!

I am actually having the same issue.  In Settings, lock sounds and keyboard clicks switches are set to "on" but that does not resolve it.  iTunes, videos, and game audio (in addition to lock sounds and keyboard clicks) will not work through the speaker, but all work when headphones are plugged in.  Ringtones and text tones function normally.

Probably not enough memory on your device. Also, if most of the songs on your library are ripped from cds, you will not be able to transfer those from your device to your computer. Try checking the articles below:

    iPhone 5,ios 8

That is rather esoteric file format. iOS natively will not handle it. Check the app store for a player.

Is this a new Apple iD? If it is, and you have already set it up, then you have two options:
    1.     Temporarily put a Credit Card or Gift Card on the account to download the free app. If you put a credit card, then once you have downloaded the app, you should be able to go into your Account preferences and change the payment option to = None.
    2.     You can download the fee App, and then set up a new Apple ID.
    Cheers,

  • Ipod classic 160gb showing music playing but no sound with headphone headunit aux cable or hardwired car stereo

last week i had my ipod classic 160gb plugged into my ford falcon fg xr6 ipod connectivity hardwire for the car stereo as i have had for over a year now since i only ever take it out to update music and software. i unplugged it and was using an iphone 5 in the meantime for about 2 hours while my ipod classic was updating. when i connected my ipod classic the connection is fine i can browse files and songs like normal but no sound comes out of the speakers. i thought my car was stuffed but i have tried it on alpine pioneer kenwood aftermarket units through an ipod cable which i have done hundreds of times in the truck i drive as well as tryin to connect headphones as well as an aux cable to play through the speakers all to no avail.   the ipod works fine i can scroll throught lists the seconds and minutes of the song or video roll on by so it is playing but no sound is being produced.
if anyone could help me with this ASAP it would be greatly appreciated and i would be one grateful man to have my music back. thank you in advance

    Hello Brutl6,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPod classic.  You have gone through some really good steps to isolate the issue. I recommend continuing with the steps in the following article to further isolate and troubleshoot the issue of no audio when connected to headphone or speakers:
