Music on iPhone... Auto Choose?

I had a Motorola Slvr that would automatically choose songs to fit the memory space available in the phone. I know I can make my own playlist, but I enjoy the "randomness" of the auto fill option. Is there a way to auto fill a playlist, or do I just need to hope Apple will come up with something simular?

Yup, I want it, or at least one playlist to behave like a shuffle.
It would be nice if the auto-create playlist was a smart playlist, that when created would ask if you want to "fill free space", "fill 1/2 iphone", "Fill 1/4 iphone", "fill xxx gigs"
I created a smart playlist that creates a 2 gig list. Not sure if this autoupdates, I hope it does.
Put in a feedback request to have itunes creats a smart playlist to XXX size, rather than a static one.

How do I change the default locations for the iTunes music and iPhone back-up folders?

My computer's hard drive is partitioned, with one partition having all of the Windows system files, and the other having all of my documents, music, videos, etc. When I installed iTunes, it automatically created its music and iPhone folders on the Windows partition. I've been able to change the default save folders for other programs to the second partition, but I'm having troubles finding this option in iTunes (I even went back and re-installed it to see if I could find it that way, but no dice). Is there a way to change the default folders for the iTunes library and iPhone files? It takes up A LOT of space on my Windows partition, so it would be very great to get that moved over.

You can't selectively move individual folders withing the iTunes folder, but you can move the entire folder to, say, an external dive. To delink the iTunes application to the new library location:
Open iTunes while holding down the Option key (Mac) or Shift key (Windows).
In the resulting dialog, click the Choose Library button.
Select the iTunes folder you moved to the external hard drive.
Click Choose (Mac OS X) or Open (Windows) and then choose the iTunes Library file inside .

The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod. There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

ITunes 11.1 wont sync music to iPhone 4s

I'm having a problem with getting iTunes to sync music onto my iPhone 4s after updating to iOS 7 and iTunes 11.1. Tried restarting both devices and it didn't help. Hoping someone can help me with this problem.

Hey everyone, I have also been having this problem and have finally found a solution that is not quite what anyone else has posted yet.
I actually haven't seen the "Syncing Music to iphone" since the new ios update so im quite happy..
Here are the steps that I took to solve:
1. Turned off auto lock and password on iphone
2. After connecting iphone on the summary page the only three boxes I have checked are Automatically sync when iphone is connected, sync only checked songs and videos, manually manage music and videos
3. Now, click the On this iPhone tab. In the bottom right there are "setting" and "Autofill". Under "Settings" select replace all items when Autofilling. I also arbitrarily selected "reserve 1.12GB for disk use".
5. Then I clicked "Autofill" and selected Replace Songs.
6. Lastly I pressed "Sync" while I was still on the "On This iPhone" page.
7. I was actually about to leave the computer and then I saw something magical..."Syncing Music".....Holy Sh...!!!
Notes:On the iPhone: WiFi, Bluetooth, Cellular, personal Hotspot and VPN are all disabled. I use PC. I have about 5000 songs. I do not use Match.
Before today I was also having a disc space issue with a large block of "other". I deleted the music data from my iphone and that fixed that problem, however, the phone was still not syncing the majority (4800 of 5000) songs.
I do not pay for icloud storage, I have never restored my iphone
*I also do not have the "Sync Music" box checked under the Music tab, however, simply doing this did not solve the problem

Itunes keeps turning on 'sync music' to iphone

Everytime I plug my iPhone in to my computer, iTunes will by itself toggle on 'sync music'. When I untoggle it and go back and hand add songs to the phone, it starts a sync process again and low and behold the sync music button is toggled on again! And the songs that I've just added by hand are removed from the phone again.
I recently used the sync to be able to delate some songs that had auto-download to my phone when I upgraded it to iOS7. These songs weren't appearing on the list of music when I hooked my iphone up and I wasn't able to delete them striaght from the phone either. I turned the sync off as soon as I got the songs deleted so I could go back in and add only the small number of songs I wanted to be on my phone.
I'm really at wits end at this point. I'd stop plugging the phone into my computer if I could, but its my only means of charging at the moment. Anyone else have this problem?

Music on Iphone not displaying correctly

After syncing and made several new playlist, music on iphone only displays as album list. No list of songs,no playlist, no categories. Just album list. But when I connect it on iTunes, it shows the list of all my songs AND all the playlist I created.

This does not appear to be iPhone-specific. It is an issue with ActiveSync in general, as that KB document explains. This happens with any phone using ActiveSync.
A very hacky workaround is to choose the setting to automatically Bcc yourself on all sent messages, then set up a rule in Entourage to move messages from yourself to the Sent folder.

If you have purchased music on your iPhone that you wish to move to your iTunes library then, in iTunes with your iPhone connected, choose the File menu item Devices and select Transfer Purchases from ...
If the music on your iPhone is not purchased from iTunes the you can move it using a third party PC/Mac application like Senuti.

Reboot your computer. In iTunes go to View menu. Does it say Hide Sidebar? If it does look the iPhone in the left sidebar in iTunes.
If it says Show Sidebar and you still don't see the iPhone on the upper right try choosing Show Sidebar and look on the left.

Change how it syncs by enabling Manually manage music and videos, then you can drag and drop the music that you want on your iPhone. Revert it back to test to see if that resolves the issue.
