Music only plays for 15 seconds and then goes to another song

I upgraded to ios 6. Since then, my old songs only play for 15 seconds. Anything purchased after the upgrade, plays the whole song. Anyone ????

Sure your gone for the day, but no luck. Still get 15 sec and then on to the next song.

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

My music only plays for 5 seconds since update???

Help! Since I updated, my music only plays for about 5 seconds, then randomly stops! I have to go hit play again..which it stops again 5 seconds later. I have NO idea what is happening? Please help?

Hi and Help! When I attempt to preview a song on itunes, the song plays for about five seconds and then ends.

Perhaps try resetting your iTunes Store Cache.
Go "Edit > Preferences". In the Advanced tab, click the "Reset cache" button shown in the following screenshot:
... and then click OK.
Restart your iTunes, and head back to the Store. Are you getting full previews now?

My iTunes rented movie plays for 24 seconds and then Windows 7 says it needs to close down the program. Help.

The movie is downloaded, I know where it is, I can start in different chapters, but it only works for 24 seconds before it shuts down and I have to close the program. I have uninstalled iTunes, Quick Time and downloaded and installed after restarting my computer. How can I watch the movie? Ok. So I created a new account and iTunes did work. I went back into my original account and tried again and just to be more clear, after I open iTunes it asks me to accept or decline the agreement, I do that, then it says "updating library", and then one all the bars are full it closes and says "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close."
okay, let's start working through the user-account-specific causes of this message.
one possibility is damaged itunes preference files in the user account in which you're getting the crash. (there's a different set of those in each different user account, which is how we can get crashes limited to a single user account.)
if that is what is going on, we can often get past this by rebuilding the preference files in the account that is crashing. for the preference files rebuild technique, see my reply to kusma in this post:

I wish I could provide you an answer, but I am experiencing the same issue myself. It's somehow iTunes related from what I have been able to figure out.
Here are a couple of clues I've picked up so far:
Somewhere between 20-30% of the songs in my library are affected.
I have only seen AAC encoded songs exhibit the problem (iTunes purchased, not imported).
I haven't seen the issue with any songs I bought after Jan 20, 2009.
Playing the same song file in quicktime doesn't reproduce the issue.
Affected songs skip on both iTunes and the iPod app of my iPhone 4 alike.
Forcing the song to stop at the end through the song options doesn't resolve the problem.
Songs skip (end) at random times from song to song, but repeatedly for each song at the same location.
The biggest clue that I've found is that when I find an affected file, almost all songs I purchased on that date exhibit the same problem. (I have only found a few examples when it does not affect every song on the same purchase date group.)
Some details about my setup:
Windows 7 Professional
iTunes version 10.6.3.25
iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1.1
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, everyone. I'm pretty new to iTunes. I just bought an iPod (1st. gen. Nano) from a friend of mine. It still had some music on it. When I play that music through iTunes, on some songs only 5 seconds play and then it goes to the next song. What causes that? Is that because the music was bought by someone else? Can I fix it?

If you are not authorized then you shouldn't hear anything at all. But if they are purchased on another account you can't play them. If you get 5 seconds then consider that as a part of "you can't play them."

why?

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

I purchased a tv show from itunes, downloaded it to my Ipad opened it in itunes nd it only plays about 45 seconds and then it shuts down. How can i get it to keep playing?

Does anyone know how to get it to play the whole program? It is a 1 hr hd program.

Ran into the same thing here. Turns out you shouldn't be trying to watch them from iTunes - instead open the "videos" app and all of your purchses should all be there and play in full.

Have you tried another cable?
Another charging source? Does iTunes see the iPod when you connect to your computer?
Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, foreign material and cracked or broken plastic.

After I startup the screen is pefect for a second and then goes blueish.

Can't import songs and ones in library only play for 45 seconds

I'm in the process of moving my music collection to a new computer with a bigger hard drive. I installed the latest version of iTunes on the new computer, copied all the folders and contents of the itunes folder to the new computer in the same location.
I bought a couple new songs successfully but now I can't add any of the files from my previous computer to the new library. I was able to import a few songs that iI purchased when on my original machine but now they only play for 45 seconds and jump to the next song in the playlist (if check) And now when I drag and drop songs on the Library to import them absolutely nothing happens.
And yes, the new computer is authorized and the permissions on the folders are read / write.
Any one have an idea of how to fix this? If not, I just going to burn all my songs to CD and import them that way and say so long to iTunes... just too much BS to just move a music library!

Sounds like the PC's authroization file is messed up, or else the iTUnes preferences files.
Follow the directions in this article, the SC Info file holds the PC authroization for iTMS songs.

And also deleted these 2 preferecnes files:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes.pref
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes.pref
They will all get rebuilt when you open iTunes the next time. It should ask for authorization one last time, is all.
