Music only plays on some players?

Why would a CD I created only play on some players and not others? The player in my 4runner only gives me an error message and yet the same CD plays perfectly on other players, including older ones. Odd ??!!

The first thing to check is that the blank you are using is a CD-R, not a CD-RW. CD-RWs (they are the rewritable ones) often have trouble playing in regular CD players.
If that is not the problem, the next things to try are to redo the burn at a lower burn speed, maybe even 2x, or to try a different brand of blank CD-R.
(Nice chuckle about the frequency, but that is not the problem.)

i burned several dvd's using dvdsp they will play on some players but not on others. why is this?
the footage was ripped from a PAL dvd edited in final cut then output as animation codec @ 29.97fps imported into dvdsp encoded and burned any info would be very helpful. thanks

I just finished on of the free lectures at Apple Soho. I highly suggest it for the answers to your questions. Just stop in or go online to get a list of all the lectures. Soho has Final Cut and DVD Studio Pro on thursdays at this point but that could change.
I have found that I have a G4 and one of the earlier Apple Super Drives (DVD burners). = - RW etc etc I have found that my apple G4 and Super Drive will only burn Apple brand DVD-R discs. And I was told at the apple lecture these will play on all DVD players (not so with DVD+R that came out later).

Help! Since I updated, my music only plays for about 5 seconds, then randomly stops! I have to go hit play again..which it stops again 5 seconds later. I have NO idea what is happening? Please help?

Sure your gone for the day, but no luck. Still get 15 sec and then on to the next song.

ITunes music only playing for 5 seconds

Hello, everyone. I'm pretty new to iTunes. I just bought an iPod (1st. gen. Nano) from a friend of mine. It still had some music on it. When I play that music through iTunes, on some songs only 5 seconds play and then it goes to the next song. What causes that? Is that because the music was bought by someone else? Can I fix it?

If you are not authorized then you shouldn't hear anything at all. But if they are purchased on another account you can't play them. If you get 5 seconds then consider that as a part of "you can't play them."

DVD works, but movie won't play on some players

I created a DVD using one of the new themes with 2 slideshows and 1 DV movie. The disk works perfectly on my G5 and on my older (6+ year) DVD player, but I have a newer (but fairly cheap) player that will play the intro and slideshows but not the movie. Has anyone seen this? I've seen lots of threads about DVDs that don't work at all on some players, but I haven't found anything where only some of the content works.

your problem sounds like a burn "error". Provide some more details on the length and encoding of the project (Best Quality vs. Best performance). Did you use DVD+R or -R? What was the burn speed?
Note that 100% compatibility with stand-alone players cannot be ensured when burning DVDs....
Most problems can be solved through these simple suggestions:
1. iDVD is NOT a disc burning app, so leave that work to software designed for it. Instead use iDVD's "Save as Disc Image" option. This creates an .img file on your HDD, that can be stored for future use and gives you the option to preview your DVD on your Mac before burning to disc.
2. Use Disc Utility or Toast to burn your DVD at slow speed. 4x is acceptable, 2x (... or even 1x) is better.
3. Use high quality DVD-R (not DVD+R) media (e.g. Verbatim) to minimize burn errors and compatibility issues. Make sure the DVD is compatible with slow burn speed (e.g. 1x-4x)

Any iPhone has only one speaker? How sad if so! My husband bought last HTC smart phone and when he starts playing some music or game or movie, the sound plays like in movie theater. I'm jelous now....

Music only playing partially??

Have any of you had this problem? Ok I have about 500 hundred songs on the iphone and some of the songs only play partially the songs are complete on my computer but for some reason it wont play till the end so last night i took everything off of the iphone and put it back on so now different songs are playing partially.... Does any body have any idea why?

all i can say that is that I have exactly the same problem with my iPhone.
I currently have about 740 audio tracks on my iPhone, 300 MB left free.
As long as I do not change anything, the error happens again at exactly the same track + position, and this occurs in quite a lot of tracks.
Now when I change (i.e. change the file selection and resync) the device, the error will occur in ANOTHER track, absolutely annoying.
I tried everything (i.e. different data rates) to find the reason, now I reported this to apple. Maybe they will give some sort of feedback ..?

Music only playing through one speaker

I had an Ipod nano second generation that would only play music through one speaker when connected through a wire so I bought a new nano third generation. The new nano has the same issue. I have bought 3 different wires which would work for a period of time then start playing only through one speaker. I have also had my car speakers checked out and there are no issues there. Is there a problem with the jack inside the Ipod? What can I do?

We have started to have similar problems plugging into the auxiliary jack of a car radio. Sometimes one speaker, sometimes the other, depending on the cable, and occasionally both. Connecting and disconnecting the iPod to the car's battery changes the speaker that works.

Music only plays for 15 seconds and then goes to another song

I upgraded to ios 6. Since then, my old songs only play for 15 seconds. Anything purchased after the upgrade, plays the whole song. Anyone ????

Music only plays partially

Except for a few specific songs, almost all songs play only a short time. Some will play 5 seconds, some will play one minutes, and a large number will play, but skip and repeat and otherwise sound like CD conversion problems. The thing is, I've been using it for 8 months now, and haven't had a problem - this is recent, apparently since I upgraded to 7.7.
I tried rebuilding the library - that doesn't work. If I play the songs direct from the files in my music folder, on QTplayer, it will play them in full, but with the same skippy problems.
What the?! How do I fix this?

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the current copies from your iTunes library, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

Does your music only play out of one speaker?

I was only hearing music played out of the left channel, either with or without headphones and also when played through a dock.
I found the solution:
Go to Settings : General : Accessibility and slide the L - R slider to the middle. Now the music plays out of both the L and the R speakers.
(If you tap the mono button there, then you will also hear sound out of both speakers, but you won't hear stereo effects, so don't do that).

Yes, that is a helpful addition to this thread, but my solution has to do with the speakers and the headphones that are plugged into the iPhone, as well as the stereo effect coming out of the iPhone itself. When the accessibility slider is not in the middle, then you only hear one channel of the stereo program whether fromt he iPhone or from plugged in speakers.

I can't scroll through my music - only plays from beginning of tunes

I have a 2gb ipod nano. When the blue bar is on the "Music" option and I press the center (round) button the screen shows the white apple with the black background for a few seconds and then shows the menu screen again. I am able to press the center button on the rest of my menu items and scroll through them just fine - but the only way I can listen to my music is by pressing play and then it just plays from the beginning of my list of tunes (like on an ipod shuffle). If anyone has any ideas I'd really appreciate it.

Music only plays from left ear

Recently my ipod has only been playing music/sound from movies out of only the left ear from any pair of headphones. I initially thought it was the headphones so naturally tried another pair but it's not the case.
Whilst on holiday last week I was experimenting and found that if I really push the headphones into the socket then music plays from both. Another option was that if the headphones weren't plugged in all the way (about half way) then music plays from both ears.
Is there a solution to this, or is it a hardware problem with the ipod?

Captivate 7 course published to ScormCloud is only playing on some browsers

We recently purchased Captivate 7 to convert our old elearning content. It was simple enough to use, but I am now finding that the courses are not playing across all browsers. The courses are pretty basic slides (image, mp3, text) and every so often I have an mp4 video embedded on a slide. I published them to swf and html5. I then uploaded them to scormcloud to test, and I get the following results:
On a Mac (osX lion 10.7.1)
     Plays fine on Firefox
     Does not even start on Chrome
     Does not even start on Safari (gives an "error initializing communications with LMS)
iPhone/iPad:
     Cannot even get it to start. Just shows a blank black screen.
On my PC (Windows 8):
     Plays fine on Chrome
     Plays fine on Safari (although the videos load a little slower)
     I have yet to test it on Firefox or IE -- but only because they don't work after the upgrade to 8!
Windows 7:
     Plays fine on Chrome and IE (slight delay in videos)
     Plays on Firefox but with significant delay on video slides.
Any thoughts on what the issue may be and how to address it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply, Rod. When published to just SWF, it plays fine. But the course does not play at all when published as html5. The html5 tracker shows there are no incompatibilities. Publishing as html5 seems pretty cut and dry, though, so I don't think I have any settings that would prevent it from working. But I cannot even get the preview HTML5 output in web browser to work.
I combined SWF and HTML5 in my original post only because that is the way we need them to be published ultimately. Feel free to offer any suggestions here if you can think of anything right off the bat, but I will post a new question in the forum, specifically addressing the html5 issue.
