Music playback is very strange
I recently added a new album to my iTunes library and synced it to my iPod Nano 4G. I started listening to it and the music would randomly skip back and forth between the current song and another song on a different album. It appeared as though the song stayed the same, although it was as if bits and pieces of other songs were being spliced into the songs being played. It's confusing me very much and I would feel better just knowing I'm not the only one who's had this horrible of luck with this. Solutions are welcome too though!
I am having the exact problem on my mac. I downloaded an episode of CSI and the music and fx tracks are there but the dialog channel is very quiet. It think it is only playing in 5.1 rather than stereo. I can't find a way to force it to play in stereo.

I am seriously frustrated with this Ipod Nano 2nd Gen... I received it for Christmas and had no problems with it at first. But yesterday the battery indicated it was time to charge. At the same time, music playback became very very slow, and no audio output thru the headphones. I cahrged it completely, reinstalled the newest verson on itunes and software version for the ipod... I even restored the thing (wiping out ALL of my music, much to my dismay) and stil there is no change. Playback is about 1/10th of what it should be- very slow and still no audio output. The interesting thing is that playback is fine when I play the ipod files through itunes- but when disconnected the ipod just *****!!!! I am getting very frustrated and want to throw this thing out of the window! Please help!!!
Try troubleshooting using the steps found here. If the troubleshooting doesn't help call Apple. You have one free phone support that's good for 90 days from the date of purchase. The warranty for the iPod is good for one year.

My phone is saying all my storage for pictures is taken up when I only have 154 picture.. It happened when I got my screen fixed at a kiosk in a mall and I had 2,000 pictures when I gave it to him and when I got it back I had 0 but my wallpapers remained.. Very strange it's as if my phone still has the pictures on there.. But I can't see them. Anybody know what I should do :( I keep having to delete apps because I have no more storage for no reason :(((
You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

Front Row/music playback issue
Hi all,
I have a rather large music library in iTunes and I have my Mac Mini attached to my stereo and TV. I use Front Row for music playback. Recently, I have been having trouble as the music will "stall" randomly or "freeze" for a couple seconds, then resume playing. Very annoying.
I've noticed that this problem does not seem to happen if I select the music from iTunes without Front Row running or if I use FR to select the music, then back out of FR with the little remote.
Anyway, I prefer to keep FR running. I've seen LOTS of articles and posts regarding video freezing with FR, but not music. Anyone know what's wrong?
Thanks!I have the same problem on my macmini. :/
And I too like to leave Front Row playing songs while I do other thing in my house.
It hangs in almost every song now, it never did that before. I wonder if it's this iTunes update...
Is there someone else with the same problem, or someone that could help us solve that? -
VERY strange lag on a Dell Optiplex 760
I thought it would be a good idea to keep a 16GB flash drive on my keychain that booted Arch so I could work on HW for college in a consistent OS! Everything is working great so far, but I ran into a very strange problem with a Dell Optiplex 760. During the normal Arch init process, everything loads great, except for when it gets to the udev stage where everything hangs. But here's the strange part of this scenario: the problems go away when I start typing random keys or move the mouse! If I don't do this, the system hangs completely from what I can tell. This happens at the console and with X.
The service tag for this machine is FDCQQJ1, and the dell.com driver area brings up this list of hardware and (windows) drivers for it.
Here's the #lspci -vv of the system:

A Very Strange Post Update Problem
Hi guys, new to the forum here, wondering if I could get some help with a most disturbing problem...
Off the bat, I use a ppc Mac G5 running 10.4.11. I use this for Music production, and general music listening in my studio. For Audio I use pro tools HD 7.3 (as well as logic 8), with a digidesign 192 IO interface, and run most ofmy audio thru that. Now that we have that out the way... I normally dont agree to updates, as I would not like to upset a balance thats been working perfectly for me for some time, but 2 days ago, one of my assistants was using the computer and agreed to the latest update for Itunes, quicktime, and logic (but not the security update). Immedietly after the update finished (during which he said the quicktime update crashed), the system started going haywire, pro tools was shutting down, itunes wouldn't open, the like... Well after uninstalling and reinstalling itunes and quicktime, all order was restored, except for one AWFUL problem.. the sound coming out of any program BESIDES pro tools (itunes, logic, toast) is very strange, as if its coming thru very cheap speakers. I've run itunes through both the digi interface and the standard sound card (it has the same problem), and checked the EQ settings (flat), my sample and bit rates are straight... I have no idea! if anyone could offer some insight, It would be much appreciated! Thanks!!HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
It's possible there's an underlying problem with your hard drive.
Insert the installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger and later) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
*(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)*
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
Also, make sure you have sufficient drive space. Control or right click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop. Click "Get Info". Under the General tab you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there is at least 10% available disk space, 15% is better.
If the drive appears to be ok and you have enough available disk space, you could try the 10.4.11 combo update available here. http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx10411comboupdat eppc.html
Make sure and run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions BEFORE and AFTER the installation.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

CK-200 poor music playback quality
Hi, I've just installed the car kit CK-200 (ISO cable version) into my car and I'm very disappointed by the music playback quality.
I have Nokia C7 with the latest firmware (14.002) and I have also updated the car kit firmware into 3.0.
There's no problem with the phone call quality - I would say it is comparable to the other car kits (for example to CK-7W I've had before), but if I want to use it for playing music, it still plays it in "phone call-like" quality. I have tried different players, but no success - still the same low quality.
If I turn the FM transmitter on and tune up the car radio to the transmitters' frequency, I get much better quality then via this car kit (although sometimes it's noisy from other broadcasting radios).
In the product description of this CK-200 they highlight very good sound quality thanks to some DSP technology - I hope there's more than this.
Do you have any idea what might be the problem here?Hi
The CK-200 is a mono output car kit that is only designed for calls, not music.
If a handset is playing music via the mono Bluetooth channel, this is a fluke, and not part of the design of the handset.
The CK-100, 300, 600 are all stereo car kits with music capability.
The DSP settings on the CK-200 manage the voice vs background noise in the car so the driver can be heard more clearly by the other caller. -
Slow Music Playback When Typing SB Live
Howdo
I'm hoping someone could help me out with a problem I am having with my SB li've 5.
When playing mp3's through any software and typing at the same time (like now) the music playback becomes juddery. I have tried increasing the processor priorty on the music playing software but no joy.
There is loads of memory left and processor time, i have a athlon 2.6 and 256mb of ram.
ANY help is very welcome as im a uni student so this is killing me when im working!!
Cheers very much
Ryansirweste,
256MB of RAM seems a little low for Windows XP and that processor, but I'm still not sure how simple typing would be causing that much of a difference. Have you tried clean installing your soundcard into an alternati've PCI slot just in case some type of resource conflict is occurring?

music playback becoming slower after few minutes of listening.
-1300 of 2000 MB free on SD card
-25 of 48 MB free in internal phone memory
have latest firmware, tried power on and off, and also master reset but still same issue.
Just to note that it isn't very noticeable latency but it is still there and for fine hear this can be little annoying.
Anyone have same exp with this problem and any possible solution for this?
Thanks in advancesirweste,

Bluetooth Buzz during music playback - iPhone 6
I am using an iPhone 6 - paired to a pioneer FH-X720BT car stereo. About 5 minutes after bluetooth music playback starts I get a very loud buzz for about 5 seconds. A moment after this all sound stops for a second. Then music resumes. This does not repeat until the stereo is turned off and then on again. Anyone have a suggestion on how to fix it. Is it a Pioneer stereo problem or is it an iPhone 6 problem? I have not had the same problem with an older iPhone 4s.
Same issue here with iPhone 6 iOS 8.1.3 and now with iOS 8.2. New Pioneer DEH6700BS. Took back to shop and had new deck replaced - SAME ISSUE. Mine is around 7:30 minute and same drop out right after that as you are seeing. I have tested with iPod Touch and my son's iPhone 5C and I don't get this issue despite multiple testing scenarios. Looks like the common denominator is the iPhone 6.

At first, i came back to iTunes 8.2.1 because using 9.1 is no fun on a G3 PowerBook (the loudness adjustment makes the computer unusable for hours, then the vents roar and the machine crashes!).
OK, because i still wanted to remote the G3 with my iPod touch, i got iTunes 8.2.1 wich runs very good on such an old computer. I am pretty shure that i already had this version on this computer, because i made almost every update... I use this computer just for listening Music! This Computer was activated all the time and with all Versions of iTunes - from 4.0 to 9.0 !!!!
What happens now is very VERY strange and i am loosing my mind. The apple support can't help me (they also resetted all my activations).
It sounds simple, but i am no more able to activate this iTunes!!! Everything is typed well, but no chance. It says everytime that the name or password is wrong. I also can't activate Genius!
I promise, tried everything: my last attempt was to make a complete Reset of the machine (i erased the whole disk and installed everything(!!!!!) from scratch!)
But with no luck - this machine will not let me f*/("&§ng connect to my account were i payed lots of euros for my music!!!!!!!
This is in fact the strangest thing that i ever gone through on computers (and i've seen lots of strange things, believe me!)
I hope that somehone could give me a hint...I actually found the window hiding at the bottom of my screen, being covered by my dock, and was able to drag it up.
You can also go into System Preferences, then dock and then move your dock to the left or right to find the window. -
Choppy Music playback with other programs running
Have a question on Itunes 7 playback. I frequently play games (mainly WOW) with the sound on, but at a low level. I then run Itunes in the background at a high volume level so I can listen to music. My computer is high end and I never had any problems doing this before. Now that I have upgraded to 7 the music is very choppy if the game is sending any sound output to the sound card. As soon as i turn in game sound off, the music playback is fine. Any ideas besides reverting to 6?
Rolling back to 6 won't fix every thing, I rolled back..iTunes seams to work but programs that use to work using quicktime still have the jittery, jerky sound affects.
It was a Reason Ask DVD Video (uses QT.7 that ran fine up until iTunes 7 was installed) run the dvd and any narration gets screwed up when you roll over the application button rollovers, so it has basically stuffed up the system sound, then the video has a hard time trying to catchup. -
What could be causing a VERY strange audio lag?
Hi,
This is a problem that I have begun experiencing in the last week or so and I have found a post on another site of someone who is having the same problem. I'm not sure if it is an update gone wrong but it is nothing I have never seen before in my years of video editing.
Ok here's what's happening...
If there are two audio tracks (say a stereo music track), when I push play one tracks runs slower than the other. However this is where it gets interesting... One thing I observed (very noticeable with headphones on) is that if it is the left channel which is running slow, when you pause the video and push play again, the right channel then becomes the channel which runs slow. It swaps channels every time you pause and play. With the slow channel, there is also a good half a second delay before it starts after the good channel (and vision) has begun. So if you are listening to music, it will start in the left channel then the right one will come in slower about a half a second later. Then you push space (pause) then space (play) and the same happens but it starts in the right channel.
The computer I have is very powerful and all my hard-drives are internal so I can't see it being a system issue. I also only reinstalled my computer fully a few weeks ago so I know that junk on my computer isn't the issue either. As from other checks, it also happens in other projects, even older ones which I had finished ages ago and never had any problems. The problem actually went away earlier this week but has just come back so it seems to be an intermittent problem.
Very strange... Any ideas or assistance would be great as I have come to a bit of a standstill with this.
MattHi,
Here's the answers:
Where did the audio come from? I have tried a few various methods which all have the same result including bringing in a stereo 48KHZ aif or using footage captured from the tape (stereo only - the problem goes away if they are changed to two discrete mono channels)
How was it copied to the computer and imported to FCP? Either captured in the case of footage from the camera or from an AIF file where it would be dropped into a bin and then onto the timeline.
What format is the audio in? Sample rate? Everything is at 48KHZ.
What kind of sequence are you working in? I only use two types of sequences and it happens on both being HDV - 1080i50 and DVPAL 48KHz Anamorphic.
Is the audio's format native to your sequence settings? Yes, both for the captured footage and the imported audio.
Hope this helps -
Iphone4 music playback smoothness
Hi there mates, I was wondering how does the Iphone4 deals with music playback, as I'd like to replace my current Nokia N97 mini with a newer phone, assuming music playback is almost perfectly.
Unfortunately my experience with the Nokia was pretty bad, because the playback of tracks AAC with 225kbps @44Khz suffered from effects like so-once-called wow&flutter, that is variations of music pitch during playback.
I thought this issue very bad and promised myself to investigate properly before switching to another music-faulty smartphone.
Gap-less playback could be another important factor. Is the Iphone4 gap-less capable?
As my new phone should have strong music playback capabilities, what's your opinion about the aspects above?Allan, thanks. I hope your advise is a from an Apple-independent point of view.
I see you have thousands post count on your side, so maybe you can help my next question: do you know if the latest iPod or iPhones have a digital-out connection within the standard iPod slot? -
G'day everyone.
Yesterday I received a brand new iPhone 4 and today, after syncing all my music, I noticed a strange problem when listening through any earphones. When the music is playing at low volume it is very muffled, though when the volume is turned up close to full, the audio seems to jump into a state of clarity where it suddenly sounds normal.
I was on the phone to apple about this problem and whilst I was on hold I decided to plug in my headphones to see if they worked for calls... they did, so I decided to test further and see if my music was working... it was, but as soon as I hung up from the call and tried the music again it went back to being muffled until the volume was turned to full. Apple suggested a hard reset which did not help, any other ideas?
Cheers.I just talked to Apple Support and they are going to repair it for me, it's just I need to wait til Friday since I am broke from Christmas! Once I get paid, then I can dish out the 30 dollars to get a rental iPhone to hold me over. The restore temporarily fixed the touchscreen issue since it happened again hours later.
Also, nobody I know who would have a spare AT&T phone doesn't come to mind so I can't just borrow a phone and start the repair process now, but the wait isn't too bad. At least they do not limit the iPhone rental to just physical Apple Store customers!
Thanks for the help, folks. :V
