Music playback issues using the new white iPod Touch with Ford's Sync System

When I connect my new 32GB white iPod Touch to the USB port of my 2011 Ford Focus' Sync system, I hear a lot of static and popping noises while the music is playing. It's almost like listening to old vinyl records. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Absolutely have had this issue.
Here's a fix (but I hate it we have to do it this way):
You have to make sure your iPod's volume is turned all the way up. The static will clear. I haven't found a way around this. The Ford system ***** for that reason. Shouldn't have to rely on our iPods running at full volume in order to work. Seems to kill the battery quicker. But hey, at least you'll have clear sound.

Nobody here will know and if they do they will be subject to a Non Disclosure Agreement and will not be able to say (even if they were to reveal this info they would not do so on Apple's back door).
The Terms of Use of these boards say that we cannot speculate about Apple Products or Software either.

No, Apple does not offer that kind of exchange.
If you had a valid problem covered under the Warranty or AppleCare, they would swap it out for an identical item (including same color).

The second gen iPod Touch has firmware version 2.1.1(5F138) whereas the 1st Gen only allows 2.1 (5F137). Don't know if that has anything to do with it, but it's likely.

You need iOS 5 for iCloud. A 3G iPod can go to iOS 5. However, since you say you have iOS 4.2.1 I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1.

I use firefox 3.6.8 browser and was unable to use the new attach file buttons in the newest version of hotmail. .
I sent a help request to microsoft and got back a 'generic' answer that the new hotmail works with all browers; ie, safari, chrome and firefox 3.0+.
Well, that is not exactly true. Because I then troubleshot the problem by opening hotmail in ie vice firefox I was able to attach multiple files (pics/documents) with no problem.
I then went back to firefox and still had the same problem.
The mouse pointer just hovers over each icon where there should be a button and no clicking is there to be clicked....so, there is no way to attach.

Although possibly not related to your problem, I have to remind you that the version of Firefox you are using at the moment has been discontinued and is no longer supported. On top of this, it has known unpatched bugs and security problems. I urge you to update to the latest version of Firefox, for maximum security, stability, performance and usability. We are all fellow users on here and not Apple employees so have freedom in what we say and opinions expressed.
I fully agree that it can be frustrating to have to make replacement decisions when a piece of equipment is working fine. I have an iMac G5 that has been working great since 2005...but the operating system is way out of date, and now the computer is starting to act up so have decided to go ahead and replace it. Also have a MacBook Pro that is great, iPad, iPod, iPhone, PC laptop and Sun Sparc workstation, so your compatibility questions and concerns are very familiar.
If your components are playing nice at this point, keep doing what you are doing, in the engineering world we have an expression, If it ain't broke don't fix it.
As to the iPad, that device can be wonderful or just a toy according to how you decide to use it. It is almost a computer in itself...I say almost because you cannot just download applications other than those in the app store, and some things like word processing are not quite as straight forward as with a computer. But with AirPrint, if you have a compatible printer, you can seemlessly print directly from the iPad.
I carry mine almost all the time, and often on travel do not bother with the MBP. The wealth of apps makes it a very powerful tool. The downside, in addition to not having certain applications I want to use, is the virtual keyboard. It works well, but for my hand size is slow to type on.
Best advice on that score is go to an Apple store or reseller and spend some quality time up close and personal with an iPad and get to know it before purchase. And keep in mind it is very powerful but is not intended to actually replace a laptop in every function.

New White Ipod touch. Went to add music & about half show up on my ipod but cannot be played

Just got the new, most recent white ipod in the mail. Followed directions, plugged into itunes and transferred songs. For some reason, when I unplugged and went to go listen to music, about half of the songs are showing up on my ipod but in a light grey and they cannot be clicked on or listened to...? I tried to re-transfer everything and still no luck. Any ideas what this could be?

This sometimes happens with ios5 (at least from my experience from beta) The sync "finishes", but you must keep the ipod plugged in to get all of the songs.... (you can still use it while it's transferring though).

Many thanks JEM24 for your help. Ive just spent the best part of six hundred pounds on a new Sony Rx100m2 compact camera, so I have no interest in the Ipods camera at all really. I doubt Ill be watching many videos on it as Im very lucky in that I have a good Android tablet. Its more as a stock music player that Ill be buying the Ipod for, if indeed I do end up buying one. I dont like the idea of paying the exorbitant amount added for more memory space that Apple along with most other companies charge. In fact I read an article on this very subject just yesterday in the tech section of Flipboard. It stated in the article that in the case of the Iphone the actual cost of each additional gigabyte of storage to Apple et al is something in the order of 60p.. This is certainly not reflected in the price us the customer has to pay at the till.. Its for this reason primarily that Apple in particular, because their products do not allow adding expandable memory of your own in the form of cheap to buy cards, that nobody in their right mind buys the 64gig etc Iphones..I am aware that we are discussing my potential purchase of an Ipod Touch here but you see my point.
