Music playback starts 5 secs in.

Since i've upgraded to 3.0 i've had a really annoying problem in Music mode.
When i'm skipping to the next track, tracks will often start 3-10 seconds in, which as you can imagine is really annoying, because if I then want to listen to that track I have to scrub it backwards.
My iPod is awful for playing music on now, ironic.

I have the same problem. It seems that it remembers where you left off when you stopped listening to a song.
When you listen again to thack track, it will take you to wher you left off.
I can't figure out how to turn that off. It is quite annoying.

  • Bluetooth Buzz during music playback - iPhone 6

I am using an iPhone 6 - paired to a pioneer FH-X720BT car stereo.  About 5 minutes after bluetooth music playback starts I get a very loud buzz for about 5 seconds.  A moment after this all sound stops for a second.  Then music resumes.  This does not repeat until the stereo is turned off and then on again.  Anyone have a suggestion on how to fix it.  Is it a Pioneer stereo problem or is it an iPhone 6 problem?  I have not had the same problem with an older iPhone 4s.

Same issue here with iPhone 6 iOS 8.1.3 and now with iOS 8.2.  New Pioneer DEH6700BS.  Took back to shop and had new deck replaced - SAME ISSUE. Mine is around 7:30 minute and same drop out right after that as you are seeing.  I have tested with iPod Touch and my son's iPhone 5C and I don't get this issue despite multiple testing scenarios.  Looks like the common denominator is the iPhone 6.

  • IPod freezes randomly for a few secs during music playback

    Hi,
My 'iPod Classic 160' is playing up of late.
It started a few months ago. During music playback, it would freeze for a 'fraction' of a second randomly but as time has gone on, it freezes for up to 5 secs now. I've used iTunes to 'restore' my iPod and have the latest firmware updates, but still the same problem. I use MP4 for music.

  • Music playback - some tracks start half way through - help?

I have an Ipod Touch 32gb 4th gen.
On music playback, there are certain tracks that will not start at the beginning of the track and start half way through or even towards the end of the track.
This does not occur on playback on my 32gb classic, an 8gb nano, on laptop or on Apple TV.
The local apple store have replaced the Touch with another and the same happens on the same songs.
Having had the classic for nearly 4 years with no faults, I thought I'd step into 2010 and get with it a little, only to find that music playback is problematic.
All software is up to date, I have been through restores etc. with the local Apple Store.
    Any suggestions guys?

We are having the same issue with our iPod touches and iPad, and yes, it is very annoying. I came here searching for a solution, but all I see is you all with the same problem/question.
I'm assuming this behavior probably has something to do with the new AirPlay in iOS and its ability to stream media to another iOS device and pick up where it left off. However, I find this extremely annoying for music, since songs start halfway through when in the middle of a playlist.
I have found no solution to this issue, and it is one Apple needs to resolve, especially when we have "Remember Playback Position" UNchecked for all of our music.
Here's hoping Apple puts a little more effort in the future to help us actually manage our media well, instead of crap feature bloat like Ping, Genius, etc.

  • Can music playback be stopped/started from a second device?

Is there an iphone app that would enable control of music playback on one iphone from another?
Specifically, I work with students with Autism. We have incorporated audio tracks including verbal prompts and music that they like to assist them when working out at the gym. It would be wonderful if the instructor was able to pause and resume the audio tracks remotely when "real life" circumstances necessitate.
(Another fantastic innovation would be the ability to patch in verbal prompts live as needed!)
Can anyone recommend apps for this sort of scenario, or is it something for the future?
    Thanks for your time

There is no app that can control another iPhone.
It sounds like you would be better off having an app that streams music from one source (server). You could then control the audio at that source.

  • [solved] I hear audio 1s after playback starts - ALSA & ALC888 S/PDIF

    Hello,
I run 64bit Arch Linux, my soundcard is a Realtek ALC888 (HDA ATI SB according to alsamixer) and I use ALSA (alsa-lib 1.0.21.a-1).
The back of my computer looks like this:
I have a YAMAHA RX-V596RDS AV Receiver connected to my sound output via a TOSLINK (S/PDIF or Optical Cable) connector.
My alsamixer looks like this (edited to fit small screen):
I used aadebug to get some info about my setup: output
I have two problems with my setup:
    1. Whenever I start playback - be it mpd, mplayer, vlc, flash in ff, aqualung or audacity - the playback will start instantly, but I will only start hearing the output when one second has passed. (So I won't hear the first second at all.)
This also happens when I use the RCA Jack to connect my AV Receiver.
However, if I unmute "Front" and increase volume for it in alsamixer and connect my headphones to the light green (stereo) jack output (on top left in photo above) and tell audacity to use hw:0,0 ("ALSA: HDA ATI SB: ALC888 Analog") as output, I will hear the sound in my headphones *instantly* when playback starts.
When I 'mpd next' the same delay of ~1 second will happen. However I noticed that if I pause audio playback sweep (audio editor) and very quickly continue playback, there will be no gap and no 'loss of audio'.
I suspect, that dmix goes into a stand-by state, whenever audio stops. Can I force dmix to have a longer timout or none at all?
    2. I can't get Audacity to playback audio together with other applications. mpd and mplayer and flash in ff and vlc will play audio at the same time, but audacity won't. If I start audacity while mpd is playing, there won't even be the option to select "hw:0,1", "iec958", "spdif" or "default". If I use any other device (like dmix), it will play using analog (I can hear it in my headphone).
If I start audacity, then start mpd and then try to playback in audacity (using any of the devices "hw:0,1", "iec958", "spdif" or "default"), I get following error message repeatedly:
Expression 'ret' failed in 'src/hostapi/alsa/pa_linux_alsa.c', line: 1027
Expression 'AlsaOpen( hostApi, parameters, streamDir, &pcm )' failed in 'src/hostapi/alsa/pa_linux_alsa.c', line: 1059
Any one having these problems? Anyone having ideas what the reasons might be?
    Thanks

I don't know if this will help but i used to have a similar problem when i switched to musicmanager as my default music player, (i also have the same soundcard)
When connected to my receiver via optical out there would be a initial delay of around a second everytime when playing a new song, although there was no delay through my laptop speakers.
What worked for me was adding esd to my daemons array

  • IPhone music playback breaks after making a call - Motorokr t505

    Hi,
My Motorokr t505 works great with the iPhone for making calls and music playback.
This all works well with voice control.
Except, there's a bug in the iPhone.
If I am playing music, then make a phone call by pressing the Motorokr phone button, after the call is complete, the music playback does not resume reliably.
Sometimes, it seems to be going fast and playing fractions of a second of music. Other times, it just doesn't seem to be doing anything.
The solution is to switch off the Motorokr and start playing music again.
Note, that if I receive a call while playing music, the whole system works perfectly - the music resumes correctly after the call has finished.
Any feedback? How do I tell Apple so they can work on this problem for the next firmware release.
    regards,
    RR

  • Music playback not working correctly iPhone 5S/4S iOS 7

Let's say I'm listening to music on my shiny new iPhone 5S at work(or anywhere). And then I stop the music, unplug my headphones, then proceed to my car. I then connect my iPhone to my car stereo(Kenwood KCD-X993) via USB. The music should start to playback where I left off, but this is not what happens. It goes to the "songs" list, and plays the first song. Always the first song, very annoying. Before I got my iPhone 5S, I had/have an iPhone 4S, which worked perfectly until the iOS 7 update. Both phones do the same thing. I believe there is a bug preventing the memory of the proper playback position of where you leave off.
Anyone else experiencing this, or have any suggestions to possibly prevent this from happening?

I have an older Kenwood head unit but my symptoms are exactly the same with an iPhone 4s running iOS7. So damned annoying. I'm am sick of Apple breaking something every time there's an iOS update. If it's not podcasts it's Smart Playlists. If it's not Smart Playlists it's accessory compatibility. Round and around we go.
The last time there was a serious compatibility issue with Kenwood stereos, around iOS4/5, I seriously considered replacing the head unit with something more modern so I could use Bluetooth. Reading all the iOS7 Bluetooth woes in this forum makes me so glad I didn't do that.

  • IPhone 4S - after 6.1.1 update, cannot adjust ringer volume, and odd music playback behaviour

This is a minor issue that'll probably end up in the hands of some apple tech, but I'm curious to see if anyone else is experiencing this.
After updating my phone to 6.1.1, I noticed that occasionally I did not hear anything when playing music through earphones. An attmept to adjust the volume simply displayed the "ringer" icon and no volume meter. When I launch a new song from stopped (not paused), there was no sound or any ability to control it. I unplugged the earphones; the play icon remained, it normally disappears indicating a pause. Plugged back in and music started coming through.
Text/Ring tones are still audible; good because I use it as an alarm clock. The phone is behaving as though it were "docked" though the music playback thing is just weird. I haven't tried playing music while it is actually docked yet.
Will try a restore tonight after work.

Ok, so I found this thread in another part of the forum and thought "hey maybe I should try that". I borrowed a can of compressed air from the IT guys and fired it into my phone's dock port. A few particles of who-knows-what came flying out. I've been testing it pretty thoroughly for the past hour, so far it seems to be back to normal. How a dirt particle can short the docking circuitry into thinking it's docked, I have no idea, I'm not an electronics expert...
Anyone having the same issue, go grab a can of compressed air, blow it into your phones ports (both dock and headphone jack), or try the toothbrush thing in the above link. If you use a dock regularly, keep it clean!

  • New hard drive; music playback is awful

I did some rerigging of hardware the other day (details to follow) and moved my music to a brand new external drive using the consolidate library command. Exact same library, exact same iTunes, but my music playback sounds like it's coming out of a record player. A subtle fuzz, and 3 or 4 times per song it pops, scratches, and even stalls for a split second. I've heard of this audio problem a lot before, but never have seen a consistent answer.
If I skip back and replay the section of the song that was scratchy, it doesn't repeat the problem in the same spot. The same situation occurs when I play a song in Quicktime. It doesn't seem to happen when playing a song in the preview column of the finder, or in its Get Info window.
Here are the details of what I did:
Old setup: Graphite G4 533 MHz with music on a 250GB external LaCie Porsche Firewire. OS 10.3.9.
I was given a Quicksilver G4 733 MHz, so I gutted my old computer and put the hard drive and RAM into the Quicksilver case. I made the drive from the Graphite the master drive, and switched the Quicksilver drive to the slave drive (so I'm starting up from my previous drive...system setup is all exactly the same).
I also just purchased a new 500GB LaCie Porsche USB2 drive. This is the drive I transferred my library to.
I don't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure that many of the times I've heard people asking about this, their post started with "so I switched my iTunes Library location..."
Any suggestions? Please help, I'm a music fanatic. I can't deal with scratchy music playback!

I did basically the same thing, took a hard drive from a G3 and installed it in a G4. I tried running the G4 with the OS that was installed on the HD when it was in the G3.
That's a No-No. Specific files for each processor are installed with the OS installation and the G3 files weren't compatible with the G4.
That is more than likely your problem. Since more than one player is affected it could be the Quicktime files that the G4 doesn't like. A complete OS install is required.

  • Control of music playback

I just a got an iPod Touch. Previously I used an iPod Classic (circa 2004). Touch is working great but I'm not thrilled with music playback. I want to be able to download my playlist then just hit play and shuffle by albums.
Am I missing something? I don't see many of the playback options I had on my former iPod.
    Thanks.

Are you having trouble finding/starting your playlist? Once you start the Music application, you should see an icon for Playlists (and Artists, etc.)
When you open a Playlist, the first thing at the top is the Shuffle option, that will immediately begin play in Shuffle/Song mode. Unfortunately there is no Album Shuffle mode on the Touch -- you can only shuffle by song.
The other way to initiate shuffle play is while you're already playing something, tap the screen to bring up the "scrubber bar". To the right of the bar is the shuffle icon, touch it to turn shuffle ON (blue) or OFF (white). Again, there is no +Album Shuffle+ mode.

  • After 1.1.1 update: iPod locks the phone during music playback

My iPhone gets locked during music playback. It worked fine during the the first few hours after the upgrade but now it stalls or locks up completely. Anyone else experiencing the same?

First, for safety, do a quick diagnostic of the iPod.
You can do this by starting a sync as usual with iTunes, then enabling Disk Use. Now, go to Utilities/Disk Utility on your desktop, and perform a diagnostic - it should take only a few seconds. Now, go back onto iTunes and Disable Disk Use (so you can take your cable out).
As long as you have the iTunes desktop up, click Check for Updates, and then Update. (They update thee software every month.)

    Hello,
I think you can try two things : the soft reboot, and if it does not work, the hard reboot. Don't worry, you can't lose data with these two reboots.
    Soft reboot :
    1) Hit the three following keys at the same time :
    - Alt
    - Right Shift
    - Delete
    2) wait 2 minutes for the Blackberry to wake up.
    Hard reboot :
    1) your Blackberry device is on
    2) remove the battery and wait for a minute
    3) Put the battery back
    4) wait 5 minutes for the device to wake up.
Please tell us if it works for you.

  • N82 music playback time

I keep reading in the specs that the music playback should last about 10 hours, I actually came across tests that confirmed this: they played music at max volume without heahpones for about 10 hours. ,
If I start music playback on my fully charged phone, it lasts only about 4.5-5 hours. I tested this when the battery was brand new, and right now I'm feeling it's only gotten worse.
Could this be solved with a firmware update (currently using 10.0.046)? Or I was unlucky and my battery was faulty from the get go? Perhaps the specs and the tests are lying, and this is actually the max the battery can endure?
    All ideas are welcome

  • Apple music app starts automatically in car since ios 8 update on iPhone 5

Since updating to iOS 8 on an iPhone 5 (thru iTunes on laptop), apple music app starts on its' own in the car using bluetooth.
It would start playing music after I started the igniton-though I never use that app or leave music of any sort running in my car when I turn car off.
Other times, it starts music if I use Google Maps or apples' iMessage . Quite annoying.

II'm sorry, I thought I'd updated to 8.02 but I checked and I only have 8.0.  I'm afraid to update to 8.02 as I've been reading both good and bad about it, like it may fix my app problem but screw up my Wi-fi.   I don't know what to do.   I'm between a rock and a hard place.
