Music played on new nano skips

I received a new 4G nano for xmas and for some reason it sounds as if the songs "skip" (much like a CD sounds when it skips). Some of the files even skipped when I played them from my library on iTunes.
I got the files from a music CD that played wonderfully in a CD player - so I do not think that the CD is the problem.
I cleared all of the files in question out of my library in iTunes and on my nano. Now they do not skip in iTunes but different files are skipping on my nano.
Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this????

What do you mean skip?
It is hard to describe - it kinda sounds like a "ticking" sound - sometimes it only does it once - but more often than not, it does it several times. If you have ever heard a CD player skip - it sounds exactly like that.

  • New Nano skipping through songs

Today is the first day I've listened to my brand new Nano 8GB. It was fine at first, then a song (track 3) that I had just listened to an hour before wouldn't play - the screen would freeze for a second and would skip to track 7, then 15, then 17 on its own. Same exact thing every time I tried to listen to track 3. I reset the iPod and the problem was gone, but I understand this may be a common problem? I'm using Windows 2000 and only have tracks from CD, not from iTunes. Should I take it back to the Apple store?

  • TS1363 I can not put my music on the new nano because itunes does not recognize my ipod.

I had an ipod nano 5th gen and bought the new nano with a completely different loading dock. The computer tells me to reinstall itunes but im not sure why beacuse all my music is saved on the account i created for the last one. Do I have to reinstall itunes for my computer to recognize the new ipod? What will happen to my music?

What is the exact error message you are receiving?
As to re-installing iTunes, it will have no affect on the content you actually have stored in iTunes such as your music. After you finish re-installing iTunes, everything should be right where you left it in your iTunes library.

  • Is anyone having issues with their iPhone 5 music controls in a 2012 Hyundai Accent, both on Bluetooth and using a headphone or USB cable?  My music plays but I cannot skip songs without physically using the iPhone 5 controls.  Thanks!

    Hello,
I have an AT&T iPhone 5 purchased from an AT&T store - it is a normal phone, no changes, no jailbreaking.  I tried using my phone and my girlfriend’s iPhone 5 with the USB auxiliary cable in my 2012 Hyundai Accent.  No matter what connector I use (headphone, USB, auxiliary) it doesn't charge or allow me to use the Hyundai’s controls to change music.  Music will play through the Bluetooth system, but I cannot control the music unless I physically touch my iPhone.  My iPhone 4 has a USB auxiliary cable and works perfectly; it charges and I have full control of my music without having to touch my phone. Nothing works even if I use the adapter that connects the iPhone 4 charger end to the iPhone 5. The picture below shows the iPhone 4 USB cable but it needs to have the (blue) iPhone 5 adapter.
Here’s the best part of this whole situation.  I was told by Hyundai Customer Care that there is a specific USB cable available for my iPhone and that I need to contact a dealer.  However, two Hyundai dealerships have told me that they do not have a cable, that Apple has not made a cable for the iPhone 5, and that I need to contact Apple directly or order it from an Apple store.  It gets better.  I contacted an Apple Store and they told me to contact Hyundai.  I explained what I wrote above and they put on a call with Apple Customer Care.  After 37 minutes on the phone with Apple, they still couldn't give me a satisfactory answer on how to get this cable or if they even had a cable (Case ID 505467409).
So here is the magical question:   Is there a working adapter for the iPhone 5 that connect to a 2012 Hyundai Accent? It needs to play music, charge the phone, and work with the car’s controls.  Thanks!

The problem is that you're using an uncertified lightning to 30-pin connector (the blue cable).  If you purchase the 30-pin to lightning cable (either online, at an Apple store or an authorized dealer) it should work fine.
I have a 2011 Tuscon and tried the lightning to USB cable that came with the phone - no dice.  Talked to my local Hyundai dealer and they don't have an eta on the Hyundai lightning cables (I'm sure it's in the works).

  • How can I sync my old music library in my new nano to the new library???

    CAN'T COMBINE MUSIC LIBRARIES:
Got a new 6th gen nano.  X-ferred my old music lib to new nano.  Gave my old nano to my hubs and he erased most of the music and added his own.(so, he has the same name for the old nano that I was using)  Now, when I try to add more music to my new nano, I get a message asking me if I want to erase all the music content and add the new stuff. Well, of course I do not want to do this as I have hundreds of songs in the old music library.  I also get a message saying that the old music lib is associated with a diff account name and I cannot have 2 music libs running on one iPod.  Can anyone tell me how I an get the two libs combined?  Do I need to back up the old music and add it to the new lib? Or, can I add the new music (only about 50 songs) to the old lib?  (the latter would be much easier, as it would take 10-12 CD's to store my old lib and much time burning the cd's. I naively thot that I could add music to the new nano under the same music lib as the old nano.  HELP!

  • Stolen mini, new nano

My ipod mini was stolen and I've purchased a new nano. I'm ready to put my music on the new nano. How do I get started; I'm missing my music terribly.

Didn't the Nano come with an instruction 'quick start' booklet?
If the tunes are on your computer then plug in the Nano with the cable provided and iTunes should do the rest.
FYI - you posted in the iTunes Mac instead of the iTunes Windows forum.

This is usually a sign that your iPod's headphones are not plugged in all the way.  Make sure that you cannot see any of the silver still showing from the headphone's plug.  You should hear a sort of popping/clicking noise when inserting the headphones letting you know that they have been fully seated.

  • New nano - music is loaded, nano is charged, volume settings are all on but the music does not play thru the earphones?

New nano (7th generation) - music is loaded, nano is charged, volume setting are all on but the music does not play thru the earbuds,  Checked with a different pair with same results...I'm sure I must have something not turned on that should be but not sure - help!

  • My iTunes music is on an old laptop which I cannot get access to. Is there a way I can still get access to my music via the cloud and use on my various Apple devices including a new nano that I have just purchased?

My iTunes music is on an old laptop which I cannot access. What options do I have to play my music on the apple devices including a new Nano that I have just bought?

The files that weren't inside the media folder on the original machine need to be copied over to exactly the same paths as they had on the source machine. See this thread for an ongoing discussion of a similar problem. See also this post on migrating the iTunes library.

  • New nano won't play songs in linear order

The shake to shuffle is turned off in settings and I am not inadvertently selecting shuffle to play. Is there some other setting I've overlooked to turn shuffle off?
Where it is showing up most maddeningly is while playing a three-hour radio program I download. Each hour is a "song" and iTunes sorts them by date/hours 1, 2 &3. I want to listen in order by date and hour. Nano wants me to listen to hour 1 from 5/23/13, random song, hour 3 from 6/10/13, hour 2 from 4/20/13...you get the idea. It happens whether I'm allowing to go to the next song on it's own or if I'm hitting the FF button. I'd be really nuts if I was trying to listen to an audiobook and it was skipping around like this. What am I doing wrong?
New nano is 7th gen 1.0.2.
    Thanks.

Delete this post. Figured it out from "more like this" sidebar Q&A. None of those relevent posts showed up when I originally searched or I'd not have posted new. Answer was on pg 21 of the manual, btw.

  • Recently Played and Added Not synching on new Nano 8gb

I am using iTunes 7 with a new nano 8gb. When I review my recently played and added smartlists in iTunes tey are correct, but after synching my nano the nano show some other very old list of songs. Any ideas?
I have trying both automatic and manula synchs
    HP   Windows XP

Did you try recreating the library. Removing the songs won't really help as you have already restored.
If you have already recreated the iTunes library file...
    Part 1:
    1. Navigate to \iPod_Control\iTunes on the iPod in Windows Explorer. You may have to turn on Show Hidden Files and folders. To do this, go to Tools-->Folder Options, click the view tab, click the bubble to show hidden files and folders, click Apply, and click OK. Look for the presence there of a file named iEKInfo. Is it there? If so, make a copy of this onto your computer somewhere. While there, make a copy of iTunesDB also. Don't delete these copies.
    2. Create a new, administrator user in Windows . (Start-->control panel-->user accounts-->create a new account)
    3. Log out of the current user.
    4. Log into the new user.
    5. Restore the iPod as documented in this article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983.
    6. Open iTunes.
    7. Set the Music sync preference in iTunes for the iPod to Manual mode.
    8. Download the free single of the week from the iTunes Music Store.
    9. Verify that the song plays in iTunes.
    10. Drag only this song to the iPod.
    11. Eject the iPod from iTunes.
    12. Disconnect the iPod from the computer.
    Does the song play?
If the iPod is able to play this song, follow these steps:
    Part 2:
    1. Log out of the new user.
    2. Log back into the original (affected) user.
    3. Reconnect the iPod to the computer.
    4. Drag some of the older purchased content (that would not play before) to the iPod.
    5. Eject the iPod from iTunes.
    6. Disconnect the iPod from the computer.
    Does the affected content play?
Is the iPod still having the same issue? Try these possible solutions:
    Part 3:
    * Delete the SC Info.sidb file as documented in http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302386.
    * If the issue persists, recreate the iTunes Music Library as described in http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93313.
    Does the music play?
Please post back if this works or not.

  • IPod Video Nano Skips music

When listening to my ipod video nano (3rd generation), it skips certain songs or plays a short clip of the song then skips to the next song. What should I do?

i am having this problem, too, and it's driving me nuts! i got a 3rd generation nano to replace my old nano, and had problems right away. i returned it to the store a week later and exchanged it for another new nano, and this second nano is having the same issue. some songs play just a couple seconds, other songs play almost the whole way through, and other songs are completely fine. and i've also noticed that it's only songs that are saved to my computer from my cd's are the ones that skip. songs i purchased through itunes don't have any problems. the song files are completely normal when i listen to them on itunes, and they always played perfectly with my first generation nano.

  • Ipod nano 7generation has no tone, see music playing, but nothing to hear, reset done, no success

Ipod nano does not have tone, see music playing but nothing to hear. Reset already done

The headset jack on a new Nano is very tight. Be sure the plastic on your headset jack is flush with the Nano body.

  • New nano not updating play counts - any help would be greatly appreciated!

I purchased a new nano (7G) yesterday. When I play music (and plug it back into my computer) the play count / last played does not update on my computer. I've tried restoring and turning sync on and off again (I use manual update) to no avail.
I didn't have this issue with my old iPod, so it shouldn't be a problem with iTunes. The play count does go up according to the nano's display, but it doesn't transfer to my computer's play counts. I also tried an old suggestion of playing a podcast for 30 seconds before plugging it, but that didn't work either.
Using 10.6.8, and iTunes 10.7. I hope I'm just missing something simple. Thanks!

I found this about what I think is the same problem I had, although mine was with my iphone but think it could be useful. I think my issue was that i had put my girlfriends phone on first so when i put mine on, it prioritised the original one. Not sure anyway, but sounds similar and for now it has been fixed.
Right Click on your iphones name and click sync one more time, when this is done, click on your music folder under your iphones name you will get this message "You have changed the settings for the iPhone “dermott o'donnell’s iPhone”. Would you like to apply these changes?" click apply
and the play count should be updated, my music is managed manually as well
