Music player stays at Refresh: Added 0 files forev...

I'm running the latest firmware for the phone, thought it probably isn't a firmware problem, since I was able to refresh music a while ago, on the same firmware.
Anyway, just as the title says, the music player is stuck when trying to add new files. I've left it overnight, and there was no progress. I removed the private directory completely, but the problem still persists.
Anyway to fix this?

Just wanted to say thanks for the bits and pieces in this thread. They put me on the right track.
I was under the mistaken impression that the reason my N95 8gb spent all night refreshing without getting anywhere was because I had too many songs on there. It turns out that this is incorrect.
What I did have were a lot of songs that it refused to play. I had attempted to encode them all to AAC low-complexity profile, but something was amiss.
I went through my 1200 songs and found all the ones that didn't play, and made an interesting discovery: there were 3 encoders that had been used to create my library - (various versions of) itunes/quicktime, FAAC 0.24, and LAVF. All of the itunes and FAAC tracks played just fine. All of the LAVF tracks would not play.
I used itunes to re-encode all of the tracks originally encoded by LAVF, then deleted everything on my N95. I then copied everything back across in 5-6 stages (just to narrow down the scope of any badness that might happen). When the phone did refresh after each copy, it took 2-3 minutes and then finished.
I now have 1300 songs (all encoded using itunes or FAAC) on my N95 and it's happy and I'm happy.
Incidentally I had similar issues with my Sony Ericsson K610i with FAAC 0.25. I haven't bothered to check whether or not that version breaks my N95.
I also took the opportunity to update all my album art (since the N95 player doesn't give you an album name?!?). That took a bit of fiddling, since manually entered album art would appear but itunes-auto-aquired art would not. I discovered that this is because itunes now keeps its own separate art library. To get it into individual files for the N95, itunes_insert_albumart at http://mysite.verizon.net/teridon/itunesscripts/index.html works a treat.

  • Default Nokia Music Player is not refreshing songs...

    HI,
I'm using Nokia C5-05.... Default Nokia Music Player is not refreshing songs from Memory Card... I tried removing the memory card and inserting again... Wen I click Refresh Library, its refreshing and showing as "0 files(s) added".... I don't understand why???  Pls help me....
Please check and update me regarding the necessary actions to be taken as soon as possible.....
    Thanks.

hae you checked via Nokia Suite on your PC if there are any firmware updates available for your handset? if there are any, please update to the latest version offered. failing that, can try re-installing the current firmware thru Nokia Suite.
might also pay to check the memory card via a memory card reader, to see if it is working fine or not.

  • N8 music player has to refresh library every time ...

N8 music player has to refresh library every time after switching on the phone. why?

How do you try to start the repair dialogue? By starting Aperture or by opening the Library?
If you not already have tried it with directly opening the library:
reveal your Aperture Library in the Finder
Whilst holding down Command(⌘)- option (⌥) double click on the Aperture Library.
Select "repair library" from the dialogue.
What about Frank Caggiano's questions above?
It would be really helpful to know, how many libraries you have, and if this problem is restricted to one of them.

  • N97 Music Player Keeps On Refreshing

I recently updated my N97 V.20 and the phone is way better than before.. I have problem in my music player when i copy files on my internal 32GB memory and refresh the library it keeps on refreshing then i have to remove battery. When i on the phone and check the music library it will not show any music tracks but the details shows that 273 songs have been added..
    * When i hard reset my phone the music files will be displayed on my library
    * When i add new music files and refresh my music library the same error occurs "music library keeps on refreshing"
Can anyone suggest me how can i solve this problem?? Because of this bug i am unable to listen to music on my phone :-(

    I also had the "Problem".
    1. Restart your Phone ( OFF and ON ) after transferring the Files.
    2. Start Music Player
    3. Go to "options"
    4. Got to "refresh library" or "update library" I don't know the exact wording because i've got the German Version.
    5. The amount of imported Files will be displayed. Finished.

  • N97mini Music player can't refresh/read anything

Hi there, a few months ago, as I put a newly bought 8gb micro sd in my n97 mini, on which I had copied all the folders from my previous micro sd, the audio player bugged: I couldn't refresh the music list anymore, and couldn't see the musics of the micro sd. The memory card was fine since there was no problem for pictures etc.
Since then I tried everything... soft reset, hard reset, other memory cards, musics on the internal memory of the phone... my firmware's updated (v30.0.004), never used a hack or anything like that, all updates made from nokia suite.
By the way, the message displayed when I refresh the musics from the audio player, it says (in French) Operation cancelled: file corrupt.
Do you know any way to fix that?

    Hi Stephano1,
    Welcome to Nokia discussions board!
I advise you to back your memory card on a computer, format it, and restore the data on it.
    This should fix the issue.
Let us know how you get on.

  • N95 Music Player Freezes While Refreshing Music Li...

    Hi,
My N95 Freezes when I select the option: Refresh Music Library. It just tells me how many it has found and it stays that way until I turn off and On the phone!
I tried removing the memory and putting it back in but still no luck. Its funny how when there is no memory card in, it refreshes it successfully! without freezing!
I have also tried deleting all media from my memory and copying them back in again.. yet.. not luck.
It wasnt like this until I updated my firmware to the latest one being: v 12.0.013.
Is there anything I can do to fix it? Is it normal?
    Thanks ALOT!

so does dat mean 1 folder for every song? So, say for instance if i have 500 tracks, i ll have to create 500 folder?
    Hi Babeygyal,
I think Korngear is saying that each folder should only have a maximum of 1000 music files.
    Cheers.

  • How I can sort music files (audiobook) in music player on iPhone by file name, not by title name?

I have audiobook of abt.500 files, all titles are the name of the book. iPhone music player does not understand sorting by file names, but by title, hterfore it plays files chaotic. So, how I can sort audiobook files in music player by file name, not by title name?

    I have the same problem.
I've went through the pains of merging all chapters into one big file for each and every audiobook, so that at least the chapters don't get played in random order. Month and month of work….. In iTunes 12.01. I can now order my audiobooks by title or by author.
But once they're uploaded to my blo*dy expensive iPhone 6Plus 128 (which I bought especially to have all my music and my audiobooks on one device) my audiobooks are NOT sorted by author, but by Title.
So, let's say I have 15 books by Ken Follet, they don't appear as Ken Follet > Title of the book but they are sorted alphabetically with all the other titles of other authors.
iPods where originally designed for music and audiobooks, but each and every version of iOS makes handling your music and especially your audiobooks harder and harder….
I am very disappointed and after so many years of using apple, I am considering to move on to android devices.

  • Music Player - file format not supported

Had a pair of headphones that didn't connect very well. The feature that pauses when headphones are removed is great: but when I used the bad headphones the music player started giving me the error: file format not supported (for all my mp3 files)
Replaced headphones and issue went away. I also got a software update so I cannot verify what build of 10.1 I was on.
Just FYI if anyone gets the "file format not supported" you might need new headphones.

I wonder if others agree or disagree that these are the current best solutions for transferring media from iTunes to my Nokia 3110 classic:
    a) Nokia Multimedia Transfer (v1.4.2)
Good:  Once configured it works automatically.
Bad:  The iTunes playlists just don't show up in Nokia's Music player.
    b) Salling Media Sync for Mac (v.1.1.5)
Good:  The iTunes playlists DO show up in Nokia's Music player.
Bad:  I need to individually tick all the iTunes playlists I want to appear in Nokia's Music player.

    hi,
Before on v20 (with orig. Nokia 1gb microsd and 2gb microsd), every new music added through nokia music manager will be automatically added to the music player without me refreshing the phone, now a couple of days(maybe weeks)i updated fw (v21) and i also switched to a sandisk 4gb microsd hc, i noticed that music doesn't automatically appears on the player, i have to refresh the music player from time 2 time.
Could it be the memory card? Or the firmware?

Revert to a memory card that you were using when the phone didn't display the fault. If the problem goes away then the new memory card is the source of the problem. If the problem persists then it's the new firmware.

  • N8: Getting Really Sick of Music Player and Photo ...

Both Music Player and the Photo Gallery look at the entire device - main memory, mass memory, SD card, everything. This is an ENORMOUS pain. Is there some way I can change this, even if it means using 3rd party software?
    1. Music player looks at all audio files on your entire device, so if I hit play all on shuffle, I get all the sound effects for games that have their sounds stored as WAV or whatever data, I get any sound files from projects that I am working on that I've put on my phone to transfer them elsewhere (effectively using my phone as a memory stick - very useful). This is really annoying. Can I just tell the music player to just look in my Music folder and no where else?!?
    2. Photo Gallery does the same with images. All my contact photos I download using Face Contacts appear in my gallery. Same with games that use standard image files. All music cover art files appear in here. I just want it to only show what's under my Images folder!
Help! It's driving me bl**dy mad!

It looks like N8 default music player will scan all the audio files in your device & default photo gallery will scan all the image files in image folder. Hope this help to clear your doubt.

  • Music player on N76

    Hi everyone,
I just got a N76 and I can't seem to turn off the music player from running in the back ground, as it drains battery a lot, is there any way of turning off the music player from running in the background?
    regards

    It's me again.)))
    The problem solved!
"The music player stays open by default so you can access it without having to flip open the phone. That, fortunately, doesn't slow down the use of other applications."

  • Music player keeps crashing

Hi I am wondering if any one can help I have a c3o3 phone which I gave to my son ,my contacts was I the account so Itried to delete the old pc suita off my computer and put the new suite ,i think it's the 7.1,but every time it gets to the music player it crashs .i went in to programes and thought I had deleted every file but one keeps reinstalling its self.I have went into C drive ,program files ,into Nokia ,into music player,It's the Cwmbran, individual file that keeps reinstalling itself.     Can anyone help.   Terence

    Hi Terence1546,
    Welcome to Nokia Discussions.
Please update or reinstall the current software with Nokia Suite. Doing so will reinstall the music application and the rest of the phone's software that potentially causes the software to crash.
Connect your phone to Nokia Suite and make a back up of your data via Tools > Back Up. Make sure you don't tick the Settings box. Now click on the green arrow icon where an available update will be displayed. If no update is listed you can reinstall the current software, this option is displayed in blue.
Once the software has been updated or reinstalled, restore the back up via Tools > Restore and your phone should work like it should again.
Let me know how you get on!

(disappointed and will toss it unless something WORKABLE is send out by the Nokia software team. Oh and the firmware update. Don;t even try that. too many colleagues of mine had the wifi die over it.!
