Music Player that supports FLAC?

Hi,
Have just bought a ZTE Open with Firefox OS, and have been looking forward to it arriving. Got it yesterday and am generally very happy, BUT my entire music collection is in FLAC, and it seems that:
a) the default music player doesn't support FLAC.
and
b) I can't find a third party player that offers this functionality.
Could somebody let me know if there's a third party app out there, or if the default music player will soon support FLAC? I want to be able to use this phone as my day to day device.

Wouldnt be surprised if this was added into Firefox OS in the future.

In WMP right click on the song then select Advanced Tag Editor. A window will open, then select the Pictures tab and hit Add button. Now select a JPG of the album art (it has to be JPEG not BMP or PNG). And add it, now select Album (front) as picture type.
In WMP11 you can drag and drop the album art to the empty CD box of each album or song. Just make sure that's a JPG file and that the file size is less than 200KB.
Now drag and drop or sync the files to your device. Then refresh the library in the device (Options-> Refresh music library)
Ahh, you mean how to do it in wmp, right? well,i know how to do with pc in wmp. i use audioshell. you can get it at www.softpointer.com/AudioShell.htm. what i mean is nokia should upgrade 3250 music player so it can show us album art. b'cuz n70 came before 3250, it support album art,why not nokia music edition like 3250? it quite ashamed a music phone doesn't support this feature.....

  • Hi, Could you please suggest a video player, that support all video formats?

Hi, Could you please suggest a video player, that support all video formats?

This is probably as good as it gets:
    https://itunes.apple.com/app/media-player-playerxtreme-hd/id456584471
You won't find anything that plays "all video formats", because of the restrictions built into the iOS.

  • Music apps that support AirPlay to multiple devices?

Is there a list of Music Apps that support simultaneous streaming to multiple AirPlay devices?  I use Spotify which apparently doesn't, while iTunes does.  Thanks,

i would say that as long as you use the computer, you could sync an app to as many ipads/ipods/iphones as you want. i have synced all my music and apps to freinds ipods as i have a mac and they have pc's and it is easier on mac. i have synced all music/podcasts/vids/apps to about 6 ipod touches

  • Media player that supports arbitrary tag fields

I'm looking for a media player, along the lines of Rhythmbox or Amarok, that supports sorting/grouping/editing of arbitrary metatag fields.
I'm finding the standard Artist/Album/Title setup a bit limiting for my library.  For my purposes (academic - critical listening and comparison of classical music), I need to have tags for the composer, piece, movement, conductor, performer('s), publisher, album name, publication date, and recording date.
Vorbis comments work well for this, as they allow arbitrary field names.  But, to my knowledge, none of the music players make use of this degree of freedom.
    Any suggestions?

Quod Libet & its companion Ex Falso tagger should work (in the repos). I successfully added the arbitrary tag "sub-genre" using the preferences dialog; both the Quod Libet player and library handled those tags just fine.
    http://www.sacredchao.net/quodlibet
The "sub-genre" tag was originally added to files (FLAC, Ogg, MPC, MP3) with MP3Tag and played / displayed in Foobar2000 on Windows ... both of these apps are really the holy grail of flexibility that you are looking for, but Linux has nothing closely approximating them, especially Foobar2000 (I think there is a wine tutorial for Foobar2000 on HydrogenAudio forums, but if you've not had experience with Foobar under Windows, I'm not sure I'd want to start out with it on Linux/Wine.
Anyway, the underlying mutagen metadata handler used by Quod Libet and Ex Falso is what allows their flexibility in handling tags, and it is available in other players as well, including Listen and Exaile. Unfortunately, from what I can tell, neither Listen or Exaile implemented much of the power of mutagen (at least I couldn't see that arbitrary tags could be added / displayed), plus Exaile is buggy as h*ll in my experience. The biggest problem I have with all these players that I have mentioned (including Quod Libet) is that they are python apps, and I have a thing about (against) python apps. They are really resource hungry, and even though I have plenty of power to spare, I just dislike the concept of having to run an app to run an app, so to speak (as is the way python and java, which I also dislike, work). But, sometimes you have to suck it up.
So, give Quod Libet a try if you've gotten anything positive out of what I've said (beyond my python bias, Quod Libet is good and pretty popular). I'm not currently using Quod (I'm using MPD + gMPC, and it doesn't handle arbitrary tags either), but I may give Quod another chance at some point just for the tag handling.
Someone else may know of another solution, and if so, we'll both learn something useful.

I'm looking for a music player app that can skip forward and backwards a few seconds?

MPD rocks, runs here for months without major problems.
The client side is very flexible, you can choose many players:
    http://www.musicpd.org/clients.shtml
    For X, for console, etc..
    Edit:
MPD supports Icecast also, to create streams.

  • Nokia xm 5800 music player "not supported"

    Hi everyone,
I just updated my music player yesterday and when I tried to open it on my phone, it wouldn't even open. When I tried to open it from the gallery, it shows "Gallery: feature not supported". I tried to click "options" but that wouldn't open either. However it still shows up on the Nokia Music Player on my PC. And I could still hear my songs by setting my alarm tone. I've tried taking out the battery & SIM card, but still no results. I would not prefer to re-transfer my music since I programmed a lot of information in them and it would take me hours to type them in again.
    Thanks!

  • 5800: a music player that remembers where it stopp...

    Hi,
I had many reasons to buy the 5800 but one of them was the music player. I listen to it in the gym using BT headphones. Frankly I'm amazed I never see anyone else with BT headphones but that's a different topic. Best music technology ever
The problem is that despite this being an Xpressmusic device the music player is a bit marginal, IMO. The thing I miss most compared to regular mp3 players is the capability to remember where it was stopped the last time. You're listening to a playlist and you turn of the player when you go home. Next time you turn on the player you want it to pick up where it was and continue with the same song in the same location in the same playlist. You could say you could remember where you stopped but that's silly. What if you had a long podcast or audio book? Wouldn't it make sense to continue where you stopped?
I realize I can pause the player and keep it running in the background but that means I can't power of my phone, right?
I've looked at two alternative players and they don't seem to support this most basic feature either. Why? Doesn't anyone take phones seriously as mp3 replacements?
I hope Nokia reads this and considers sneaking in this minor feature in the next 5800 update or as an Ovi download.
    Thanks for reading!
      Sander
PS pretty impressed with the phone overall!

Well, technically speaking, exiting the music player would still remember what the song was last, but not turning the phone off. I dont think any application can do this as it would require to have the internal extra battery (CMOS battery I think) to continuously supply power to the phone's processor, which it does not.
Also, as a smartphone, it consumes too much battery in powering up and powering down that it is really not advisable to turn it on and off in the first place, and in fact I dont see any situation where you should do that. If a place requires that phones are turned off, you can just set it to Offline Mode, which makes it so that the phone cannot receive any signal.
EDIT: sorry made a mistake in wording. The CMOS battery does supply a little power to the phone while it's turned off. Just remembered that it does this for the clock. LOL. But then again, making an app to make use of this power to remember where it stopped may depend on how much power is being supplied in the first place.
Oh I made a mistake again. I thought you were referring to turning the phone off. Not just the music player.
Also, I'm not sure if you already know this, but for a playlist to remember where you last stopped, it does that. When you go into music player. go to Options>Now Playing. It will show the last song played.

  • Music Player Character Support

On my N70, In my old firmware v3.... something when i went on music player it opened straight away and worked fine, now i have updated firmware v 5.0609.2.0.1, when i open music player, it firtly says opening, but then it says 'a processar' which i do not beleive to be english however my phones languge is set to english.
Also certain songs, like "MAXÏMO PARK" the name does not appear correctly, it is shown as Max(square symbol)o Park, this missing the i (with 2 dots) character and the m next to it... there are many songs which have unusual characters like this but the n70s new firmware does not show them, they were shown on my old firmware, but not on v5.0609.2.0.1
could someone at nokia please tell me if a new firmware will b relaesed anytime soon? and if so will it have full character support?

I have N95 (v 12.0.013). Using Croatian characters. They show properly in WMP11 and Nokia Music Manager, but show only empty squares in device player.

  • Music player that will play files from cloud?

I have more music than space for it on my iphone.
I'd like to move it to a cloud file (box) where I have 50 gigs free storage, but only if I can find a player that will play from the cloud and playlists without having the files resident on my phone.
Does anyone know of such a music player?
    Thanks,
    Wabbit

I didn't read very far. What is the licensing issue? I think the problem is that no one wants to invest the money in an application for TVs or smart BD players or whatever, that would allow them to emulate a hardware BD player. Yes, use of a codec could come with a licensing fee, but they have it for playing the files that require it.
No question for me that a menu/chapter selection option for such circumstances is warranted. But for now it seems based in a "computer" that then streams to the watching device.

  • Where Can I download a video player that supports AVI. or other main files?

I just got an macbook which I loving IT!!
    However, I only have quicktime...
Well I transfer an AVI files to play onto macbook...
It doesn't work however so I downloaded an GOM Player which
    it cannot installed onto it...
Is there any player that plays any files??

Files with the .avi extension could be several different codecs. A free third party plugin for Apple's Quicktime Player called Perian (http://www.perian.org/) allows Quicktime to play a wide variety of video files, including most with the .avi extension. Also, make sure to download and install the FlipForMac extension ( http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx ) for .wmv files.

  • Off Topic - Web music player that will work on an iPad / iWeb

After a bunch of other googling I figure someone on this forum would know the answer.
I'm looking for a way to embed a playlist into a iWeb page so it will play on the iPad/iPhone browser. Certainly I'm not the only person who wants to do this --- but I haven't had any luck figuring it out.
Helpful suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers

Check out the web-based "listen&rate" music player for iPad http://listen.MX
Note this is just tech preview and it looks ok on iPad screen only. So don't be scared with what you may see trying to browse http://listen.mx with your desktop or notebook
