Music Playlist shows video playlists - iPod BUG. IS IT JUST ME?

I have the 160GB ipod classic. I have several video playlists set up (to manage music videos, other movies, etc.). When I select "music" from the main menu, then select "playlists" to pull up my music playlists as set up on iTunes, I see all of my video playlists listed and they show "0 SONGS" under the playlist name, obviously because they are not supposed to have songs and only have videos. When I click on the video playlist from this menu, the ipod hangs on a white screen (forever!) until I press menu to return the music playlist menu... Is it just me or is this one of the many continued bugs that the iPod classic still has even after the 1.0.2 software update?
APPLE - PLEASE FIX THIS BUG WITH THE OTHERS AND RELEASE 1.0.3 SOFTWARE ASAP!!!

I did realize that I also have a "music videos" (smart) playlist that shows all music videos. Since these have songs in them, they are listed also...

  • Music not showing up on iPod screen

My iPod classic 80 freezes every now and then, and I can reset it to get it moving again, it's just all the options on my main screen except "Settings" disappears. My music is still in the iPod, b/c I can press "Play" and it starts playing my music in order of artist.
I have followed the 5R's and doing this brings the options back, but as soon as my iPod freezes again, and I reset it manually it's the same shenanigans. I am not always at my computer and I would like to be able to reset it without it doing this.

    Are you referring to this?

  • Music wont show on my ipod

However, when i plug it into my computer i can see all my music but it wont sync back to my ipod. Everytime i click on a song an exclamation point appears right next to.
Im not to sure what happened, my bf was downloading some new songs from spotify and it wouldnt sync to my computer. It was taking forever and my itunes frooze so my bf unplugged my ipod without ejecting it properly, and when we tried to put my ipod back into my computer all my music was lost from my ipod, except the ones that were recently downloaded from spotify. But when i click on my ipod on my computer i see all my music but it just wont transfer back to my computer!!!!
My bf was only able to get a couple of songs back to my ipod but not all of them. PLEASE HELP!!!!! I have no idea what to do and i dont want to lose all my songs either because half of my songs where from my sisters old computer and they wouldnt all transfer over to my new computer but they all stayed on my ipod.
THANK YOU sooo much for your help!

    - The ! means that iTunes can't find the song file, it just has the title and where the song should be located. You can verify that by trying to play the song in iTunes on the computer.
    - To find the songs try:

  • Older music/TV shows & videos purchased from iTunes store no longer work on PC (iTunes only)

    Hi,
I am having trouble with iTunes on my Win PC and would like some help.  It clearly appears to be a software or configuration issue.  Essentially all my older music videos and TV shows all purchase from the iTunes store (anything older than 2012) simply will not play with iTunes (but will play with all other Win apps).  Here are the details:
    1) Running new PC with Win 7 ultimate
    2) All media files in one location (iTunes folder) all new tunes and videos are stored there
    3) I am running iTunes v10
    4) Newly purchased music videos work - older ones (from 2011-2006) no longer play.  Same with newly purchased TV shows but not older ones.
    5) When file is selected in iTunes it simply does not play them (no crash, no sound, nothing) - itunes is still active and you can select other music, etc.
    6) Videos play in Win player and any other windows app applied to them (sourced directly from iTunes to Explorer)
    7) Problem did not exist in much earlier version of iTunes (or I would not have purchased them, duh)
    8) Problem existed in last few versions of iTunes
    9) Problem existing on last PC as well as this new one
    9) ALL videos STILL work fine on my ipad and ipods - nothing wrong with those files themselves
    10) I have searched online and tried:  control panel selections with Quicktime (3D video setting), uninstalling itunes several times, uninstalling quicktime, etc.
    11) All tests pass with iTunes diagnostic
Please help if you can!  Thanks.
    best, AHC99

By the way... ALL music files back to 2004 still play fine on iTunes on the PC...

  • Music not showing up on ipod, but memory is used up

i have a 4G nano, and when i plug it into itunes it shows that there isn't any music on my ipod, but it reads that all the memory is used up. do i need to reset or restore to original settings?

Yes, definetely try restoring your iPod using your iPod Updater. Check this link out:
    Restoring iPod to Factory Settings.
Restoring will delete all the music off your iPod, but will not affect the iTunes library.
If you have any issues with restoring your iPod, just tell me, and I'll try to help you.

  • Music not showing up in iPod

My wife & I both have 30GB iPods. She has been managing her's from her computer, I've been managing mine from mine.
Recently she wanted some music I had already ripped to my computer. I hooked up her iPod, everything looked fine, I copied the music, all her music (& the new tunes) appeared in iTunes under the device just fine. I also copied several podcasts at the same time. But once her iPod was diconnected and she tries to use it, no music shows up on her iPod. When she goes to "music", it's as though she selected "podcasts"; it looks the same and she can't find any music on her iPod.
Does anyone know what's happening & how to resolve this?

This Apple knowledge-base article may help address that issue.

  • Music not showing up on Ipod

All of my music shows up under the music tab in my device on itunes, but when I click the music tab on my ipod itself, it says I have no music. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to solve it?
I know my music isn't deleted, because I can plug my ipod into someone elses computer and my songs will still show up and play under my device on their itunes.
Why won't they show up on my ipod?

To all of you guys who has this problem, just update your iTunes to the recent version then sync your "iDevice".
This works for me. Aside from my music files, my movie files doesn't show up also (I'm not sure with the pics, coz I don't have photos saved on my device). I almost tried to restore my device, but luckily I followed mohsrocks7's link and It worked for me.

  • I Opened up I Tunes today, & all music, tv shows, & videos are GONE !!

Please Help ! I called the 800 phone number & were no help.

The storage space taken up by "Other" can be made up of, notes or files of any kind you've added to the iPod whilst using it as a hard disk or album artwork. Or sometimes when the iPod data base has become corrupt.
There will always be a few MBs of used space under "other" but if it's in GBs it's unusually large. This often happens when the iPod data base becomes corrupt.
If the iPod is enabled for disk use, you can look at the folders on the iPod through Explorer or Finder (on a Mac) and delete anything you don't want.
If it's a corruption of the iPod database (as seems likely here) it will probably need to be restored, see how to restore the iPod to factory settings which will erase the iPods contents and reclaim the used space.
Then reload the music from iTunes.

  • Sync'd Music not showing up on iPod.

I have an iPod nano 3rd generation and the latest version of itunes. I recently imported a couple of cd's and then sync'd them to my iPod. When my itunes window is open, and my iPod is connected and I go and see what is on my iPod, it shows that all of the songs in my library are on it. However, that isn't the case, 2 of the cd's that I had recently imported did not transfer over... but 1 did. (that's 1 out of 3). I have the memory for the songs... they just aren't showing up on the iPod itself when itunes says it is on the iPod. Any ideas?

Check the option on your itunes where it asks you to conver higher bit rate to 128. This should be disabled.

  • I have a problem with my iPod touch 5th gen. When connected to my computer my music playlist will show and play no problem. When I disconnect my iPod from my computer go into my music, my music playlist disappears. Do anyone have a solution. Thank U!

I have a problem with my iPod touch 5th gen 64GB. When I connect my iPod to my Mac Book Pro laptop my music that I've transferred to my iPod and music playlist will appear in my iTunes my music will play with no problem. Now, when I disconnect my iPod from my computer go into my music, my music playlist and music I've downloaded into my iPod disappears. I reconnect my iPod to my computer, everything shows. Do anyone have a solution I really do appreciate it. Thank You!

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Manage Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
However, there seems to be a bug in iOS 8 or iTunes 12.1.1 that cause this problem and I have not seen a solution

  • Possible to have video playlists NOT show up in the music playlists tab?

I like how when I go to videos > video playlists, my iPod will show only the playlists that contain only movies and music videos inside.
Is it possible to have it so that the video-only playlists are parsed from the music > playlists tab? That section is cluttered enough as it is, and having empty playlists inside really doesn't help.
Also, anyone have tips for managing large amounts of songs? Since I have a lot of one-hit-wonders, the artist and album tabs has gotten populated with 1-song artists and 1-song albums, making it a pain for browsing through in search of whole albums.
Maybe I could put a symbol around the artist or album to make it higher or lower in the alphabet. From what I've seen, it goes symbols, numbers, then letters. Is there anything I can use to sort alphabetically in iTunes to be below the letter z?

I just remembered something; japanese characters (letters) are sorted by iTunes below the letter z. Accented characters (such as ö) get sorted next to their regular (o is higher than ö).
And so, I think I will go through and find all the albums and artists that only have one song to them and rename them using a japanese character so that they appear at the bottom of the album and artist lists. Should make looking through those much easier.
I would still like an answer to my first question.

  • IPod losing place in music playlist when play a video

I had this issue on my Nano 3G & 4G as well.
When listing to a music playlist the iPod looses its place in the playlist as soon as you play a video (music video, movie, tv show, etc). This means that you have to start the playlist from the beginning or move on the next one. I have most my music collection organised into 9 playlists with currently ±400 songs each.
Is there perhaps a setting that I can use for my iPod Touch to "remember" where it was in a playlist even after playing a video?
This is my only frustration with the iPod Touch, which I otherwise consider to be the best there is!

I'm having this problem too.  I use my iPhone 4 to listen to audiobooks that I rip from CDs.  I make playlists with 100-200 tracks, and listen on my phone via headphones on my bike and at work, and through the aux jack in my car.  This worked great with iOS 5.  I could start & stop the book any number of ways, and it wouldn't lose my place.  Pulling the headphones out, using the headphone pause button, double-clicking the home button from the lock screen, etc all worked without losing my place.
I recently upgraded to iOS 6.1.2, and every time I plug back in and hit the headphone play/pause button, or the play/pause from the lock screen, I'm several tracks behind where I last left off.  I spend the next 5 minutes trying to find my place in the audiobook.  This is very frustrating because it worked so well in iOS 5, but is broken in iOS 6.

  • Video playlists show up in music playlists!

I originally had the problem where my music playlists were showing up in my video playlists section of the ipod along with my 2 video playlists (movies and tv shows). I have finally solved THAT issue by putting 'tv shows' or 'movies' in the comments section of all my videos, then went to my smart music playlists and put the following condition: "comment does not include 'tv shows' or 'movies'). Boom, this keeps my music playlists out of my video playlists and now my video playlists only have 'tv shows' and 'movies.'
HOWEVER, my 2 video playlists are showing up in my MUSIC playlists now, with nothing in the playlist, just the names of them (tv shows and movies). This is ANNOYING!
i have gone to itunes ipod preferences and excluded these 2 playlists from the music playlist sync, but there's STILL showing up on the ipod.
    Can anyone help?

    Please help!
