Music plays back SLIGHTLY fast

I'm recording music at the moment, semi-professionally. I would like to use my iPod to listen while using my laptop to record, but the iPod seems to play the music back at a slightly faster speed. As a result, while I'm in time with the music (or metronome) at the start of the song, by the end of a 4min song I'm usually a bar or two ahead of the song. Obviously this is unacceptable.
I have tested this, putting a microphone directly next to speakers connected to my iPod, and recorded a full song, and the iPod played back fast.
I doubt there is an easy fix for this, if one at all. Just posting this in case.

Hello, when you record do you use an "M-box"? It converts analog to digital, which the computer sync with easier.
just a thought

  • Music Playing Twice as Fast and  a Crackling Noise

When I first play music on itunes, there weren't any problems at all. Once my CPU usage goes up (like when i play a game) the music plays twice as fast and theres a crackling every second (1 second music then 1 second crackling noise ). Once I lower my cpu usage, the music returns back to normal.
I didnt have this problem with the previous version of itunes though.
dell 8400 Windows 2000 Media Center Edition

I am having precisely the same problem and also did not experience this with the last version of iTunes. As opposed to Jagged_Link, however, I am always getting this problem. I have a very fast dual core computer Athlon 64 x2 4400 with 4 GBs of Ram so I don't think that a performace issue is the source of this problem, but I do have many other applications running at the same time (azureus, firefox, beyondTV). This was never an issue with the old version and I think that the problem might have to do with the gapless playback analytics (a problem with the process, perhaps). I will try eliminating all apps other than iTunes to see if there is a change.
By the way, a repair of iTunes, using the original installation file, did not change my situation. I only use MP3s (no AAC) and it be helpful if the other posters can provide this info as well, so that the problem can be identified better.
I hope we can find the problem and get it fixed!

  • Audio books play back too fast on iPad

Audiobook play back too fast on iPad .Ok when played back computer have tried re setting iPad and adjusting speech speed

Have your rebooted/restarted your iPad? you do that by pressing the Home and power/sleep button at the same time until the slider to power off the iPad appears. Slide the slider and when screen activity stops depress the two buttons again until the Apple logo appears. When the iPad completes rebooting try again to see if that solved your problem.

  • H264/ACC Stream plays back too fast on some computers

    Hi all,
we got some feedback from some of our customers (about 1%) that the QuickTime streams we provide (H.264/ACC) play back too fast, about double the original rate and sound is dropping out.
I have not seen this problem myself and there is no particular movie, which does not work. It seems to be the client setup (QT settings, video card whatever).
    Does anybody know what happens?
    Thanks
    NikWest

    Hi T-MACK,
This may not be much help but I had the same problem. Inspection showed that I'd inadvertantly set the camera on long play when shooting the footage. It seemed fine when importing into imovie but playback appeared to be double speed. I posted a question on this forum but couldn't get a satisfactory solution. Re-setting the camera and reimporting didn't help. However, I borrowed a friends camcorder and reimported the same video from that. It worked. I can't see why but it did.
Perhaps sommeone will come up with a better answer.

  • Audio is playing back too fast

In previewing, the audio plays fine for about 15 secs and
then starts playing back very fast (aka chipmunk sounding). Sounds
like sample rates got out of sync.
    Suggestions?

Let's see if we can figure out the cause ... that might help
    us with the "cure".
    1) How are you listening to it - locally as in F4 preview?
Single-slide preview? From a remote location (web)? Locally after
    publishing?
    2) How many slides are covered during that 15 seconds of
    "good" audio?
    3) Same slides every time, or does it play well for only 15
seconds no matter which slide you start on?
    4) How was the audio put
into the movie? Created by "narrative" during the recording
process? Imported from a 3rd party audio recorder - if so, what
format was it in when imported, WAV or MP3? Inserted manually
during editing, on a slide-by-slide basis?
    5) What IS the sample rate and other "stats" for the audio
file(s)? *You can check this from the dialog at "Audio >
    Advanced Audio" . . .
    6) Is it Alvin? Theodore? Which chipmunk? And in fact, did a
    chipmunk actually DO the audio??
Thanks for your added info - and your sense of humor . . .

  • WAV files play back too fast

When I choose File->Open to open an AIFF, MP3 or other file in Audition CS6, it simply plays back at normal speed. However, when I open a WAV file, it plays back at double speed (voices become high-pitched). NOTE: The sample rate (44.1) and bit size settings match exactly. This is not a sample rate issue. The frame rate is NOT set to custom.
This happens only to WAV files. The platform Mac OS X 10.8.3. Any ideas?

For some reason the songs seem to play back faster than they should. Any ideas?
How much faster? Have you timed the playback speed with a stop watch and compared the actual duration with the duration (Time) in the browser?
If youtube plays back slower, it might be caused by the network.
I have only seen this on iTunes for Windows so far - you are not by any chance on Windows right now, are you?
Are you running the latest version of iTunes?
And do you have any non-standard Audio devices installed - look at System Preferences > Audio > Output ?
Did you install any Audio Drivers?
Also look at the Audio Devices in Audio MIDI setup (Applications > Utilities):
Check the Format for you output device if it is set to 441000 Hz (compare the setting to the sample rate you see on your songs in the iTunes Library).
If this setting is wrong, iTunes may try to playback at the wrong speed.

  • Webcam video plays back super fast speed

hi, does anyone know about this: when i record video from my creative Live! Cam Video IM Pro, the play back is like twice the speed of real life. like a video speeded up. it was working fine on my previous computer, which was windos xp, and i upgraded to a newer computer with windows vista 64 bit, and now the video play back is too fast. i also tried viewing the video on other viewers like windows media and VLC, still too fast.

    Hi David,
I think we may be able to say more if you can tell us more about the rest of your code. What sort of structures are you using, and where are you dropping your AVI Capture code in? Is the video sped up on your front panel or when you play the resulting file?
You should post the larger piece of code if possible.

  • External MP3 plays back too fast

    Hi,
I entered a previous post and said that my External MP3 was
not working with Flash 8.0. I tried a longer sound wave and what it
appears to be that the sound wave is playing back but at a high
    speed that is unintelligeble.
Does the MP3 file need to be converted or formated in a
certain way to use as an External MP3. I have imported the exact
same MP3 file and it works with no problem in embedded mode.
    thanks,
    hugh

    Hi
Audio that sound like Chipmunks is cause by inappropriate bit
    rate.
it's best to use 16-bit 22 kHz mono sounds (stereo uses twice
as much data as mono), but Flash can
import either 8- or 16-bit sounds at sample rates of 11, 22,
    or 44 kHz.

  • FCP video plays back too fast

After years of flawless service, my FCP7 plays the video too fast, going out of sync immediately.  Re-installing did not solve the problem.  Help!

Have you installed any new software or upgraded any apps or the OS?
Have you connected any new hardware?
This is ringing a bell.  Pretty sure someone posted this problem before.  Have you searched the forum?

  • Screen rotation during music play back -- very annoying!

I hate that the screen rotates when playing music. I have an arm band holster (Griffin), and when I lift my arm to use the touch screen for commands, it rotates into album shuffle mode. Very annoying!
I'm trying to do something with the device and it goes into some kind of album choosing mode -- when I'm already more than happy with the play list I've created!
Would be very nice to be able to cancel that feature.
Why only album shuffle too? Why not play list shuffle? That's how I listen.

It doesn't appear if you tap the screen/artwork while the audiobook is playing?

  • Using aux-in cable for music play-back in car.. help needed

Has anyone had any issues using an aux-in cable for music playback with the S3? I know the cable works fine on other devices (itouch, moto x, etc) and headphones work fine on the device, but I cannot get thing to work using the aux-in cable in my car. I've gone through all the settings I could think of and nothing has worked. Any ideas would be most appreciated.

I have not had that problem.  Are you using a standard 3.5mm stereo aux cable?  I have read a post in another forum that some posters with the same complaint simply were not pushing the plug in hard enough.  I know this sounds silly, but try again and push until you a absolutely positive it is in.  Also, try another cable if you can.  If it works with the headset that came with the phone, then the phone or aux port is probably not the problem.  You could also try another car with the same cable you have now.  Just some different thoughts for you.
The one known issue is that when you are connected via the aux cable and get a call, the call audio is sent to the car speakers and the internal mic is used for your voice.  This happens even if you have a BT headset connected.  I hope they resolve this with the forth coming update.

  • Clip plays back TOO FAST

I recently imported some HD footage into iMovie 6.0. The import process was smooth, as in I could view it loading at an appropriate pace from both my camera viewfinder and the iMovie screen.
However once the clip is imported, when I click 'Play,' the playback runs the clips at twice the clip's original speed. 2x. Is there a setting I have wrong? The audio is shoddy as well. Why don't iMovie play the clips at a proper speed with proper audio?
Note: The audio and video play just fine on VTR mode on the camera.

    Hi T-MACK,
This may not be much help but I had the same problem.
