Music/podcasts in the cloud

How do I switch off the option to play what's in the cloud?
I don't want the option and can't find a way to lose it.

iTunes 11.1.1 is now available. When subscribing to podcasts there are some changes:
In list view only the most recent episode shows when you first subscribe. In 'My Podcasts' view the same is true: click 'Old episodes' to show earlier episodes, click 'Done' to hide them or 'Add all' to keep them there and add them to List view.
In List view each episode now has a blue circle to the left showing it can be played as a stream. Click the cloud icon at right to download it. Control-click and choose 'Delete' to delete any episode from the list.
There are also some Settings in 'My Podcasts' and 'My Stations' which allow you to change the arrangements for downloading and playing on a podcast by podcast basis (not episode).

    Hello Tina,
Thank you for the question.  It sounds like you would like to download your songs from iTunes Match.  You can do this by turning iTunes Match back on and clicking the cloud icon with the downward facing arrow next to the songs that you would like to download to your computer:
    Available for Download
This icon appears when a song is available in iCloud and hasn't been downloaded to your local library.

No, this is not what iTunes Match does. When you enable the service it leaves all the original files right where they are and mirrors your library in the cloud by either matching tracks to tracks available on the iTune Store or uploading tracks to the cloud. The service does not delete files from your HDD.
I am unsure what you mean by "library icon" or "itunes library file" but if you mean the iTunes Library.itl file the size of that file is irrelevant.
Before you enabled the iTunes Match service approximately how many songs were in your iTunes library and where were they stored? On the internal HDD of the computer, or on an external? Also, do you have backups?

  • I noticed this question has been asked a lot, but I still do not understand. How do I get my ALL of my iTunes music onto iCloud.  I have already subscribed to match and increased my icloud storage. Only some of my music is in the cloud, not on iphone

  • Music not in the cloud

There is some of my music not in the cloud. How do I get those albums in the cloud?

Go to Settings>Music on your iOS devices and make sure "Show all Music" is on.  Otherwise you will only see music that has been downloaded to your device, not your entire library.   If it is on and some albums are still missing, try turning iTunes Match off and on again.
If the problem persists, you may need to start over by turning off iTunes Match on all of your iOS devices as well as in iTunes on your computer (Store>Turn Off iTunes Match).  Then turn it on again in iTunes on your computer (Store>Turn On iTunes Match>Add this Computer), allow the match process to finish, then turn on iTunes Match on your iOS devices again.

  • If my music is on the cloud how do listen to it with no wi fi or network? I will be taking a plane and not have access to wi fi. Please help?

If my music is on the cloud how would I listen to it with no wi fi or network? I will be traveling by plane and then I will have no access to wi fi at my destination. Please help.

I cloud is not a streaming service.  It is simply a storage locker.  So before you leave, download the music you are going to want to listen to onto your pad.

  • I got a new iPhone 5 when I went to add my music back from the cloud Not on this iPhone Rihanna for some reason will not re load to my new phone the Little wheel just keeps moving

I got a new iPhone 5 when I went to add my music back from the cloud Not on this iPhone Rihanna for some reason will not re load to my new phone the Little wheel just keeps moving nothing ever happens.  I turned it off and still nothing
whats up with that I have one beatles song and one kenny chesney also

Mate, I'm trying to find out if it was shipped like that or not. If someone else has had the same issue then I can go back to Apple and have them look into it further. If not then as I said Vodafone is selling second hand phones and they will have to replace the phone.
Vodafone account manager is saying that he has never heard of anything like it.
So I'm left with one of 3 answers.
1: The phone was shipped like that so its a factory error.
2: The Apple genius doesn’t know what he's talking about then I can go back to the store and ask for a second opinion.
3: Vodafone is selling second hand phones as new.
I need to narrow it down so I can deal with the account manager appropriately

  • How can I retrieve music tracks from the cloud?

I deleted music from my library expecting it to now be available in the cloud.
When I search in purchased items in iTunes and click on the item, it tells me that the original file is no longer available.
I am not expecting the file to be available just the music track/album etc.
How can I retrieve music tracks from the cloud?

  • HT4914 Once I upload my music library to the Cloud can I then remove it from my computer to free up space on the hard drive?

Once I upload my music library to the Cloud can I then remove it from my computer to free up space on the hard drive?

iTunes Match does not allow streaming to a computer.
If you want to utilize the media on the computer, it must physically be on the computer.
Also, if syncing media from the computer to an iDevice, the media must be physically on the computer to sync.  Removing that media from the computer will remove it from the iDevice it is synced with.
iTunes Match is not a backup and should not be utilized as single storage for content.

  • HT201272 I recently added my entire music library to the "cloud" for an annual fee. Now I can't listen to anything unless I have an internet connection. I want my library back on my laptop, the whole thing (original laptop got erased). How do I do this?

    Hello ggjsa,
Congratulations on your new laptop!  I understand that you have copied your old iTunes Library to your new computer, but you are still not seeing the music.  I recommend reviewing Part 5 in the section titled "External drive" in the following article:

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4527
If you are still having trouble transferring the library using this method, you may want to try using the Home Sharing method in the article.

  • How do I put my itunes music library on the cloud?

How I do I upload my entire music library to the cloud? I mean all my music, not just things that I've downloaded from the itunes store.

    iTunes Store > Quicklinks > Purchased > {Media Kind} > Not on this computer > Download all.
Why do you need to do this? If your media is on another computer or an iPod/iOS device there are faster ways. If your library has become corrupt the media may still be there and it might be possible to restore/repair the library.

  • I want to save my music library in the cloud /iTunes Match, but want both my wife's devices and mine to have access. Is this possible, and what's the best way to do this?

    Hi all,
Can I store my iTunes file in the cloud, so that my wife and I can access it from various devices.
Devices would include 2 iPhone 6S, 2 iPad2s, couple of iPods and a MacBook Air.
We can't save all the music to a hard drive due to storage size.
If we save it to the Cloud, can we create playlists and only download these as /when we need them?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ed

    Hi,
Your music needs to be in your iTunes library on your computer or on an external drive. Read this user topic Make and keep a backup of your iTunes library, and only stream from the cloud.
You can only use one Apple ID with match. For your wife to get access to your music in the cloud, you will need to use your Apple ID

  • How is it possible that i can play music marked with the cloud icon in the music app when i'm not subscribing to itunes match?

When I'm on the same WiFi network as the computer I sync my iPhone to, I can se a lot of songs in my music app marked with the little cloud icon. And when I leave the network, I can see only the songs with this icon that I have played and therefore probably cached.
Where can I read more about this function and get to know it better?
It seems to work like iTunes Match, only limited to 'local' use. I'm not an iTunes Match subscriber, but I have the 'Show all music' setting enabled.
It's a cool function, both it's a bit annoying that i uses up my available storagecapacity. I keep getting warnings that my storage is almost full.
Does the cached music automatically dissapear since i haven't added it while syncing?

    This feature is called...
    iTunes in the Cloud
It uses no storage on your phone or any in your iCloud storage allocation.

  • My music is in the cloud, but it's also on my hard drive.  Why does it all show with the cloud icon?  Anyway to force the iTunes client to recognize that all of the music is already in my iTunes library folder?

Recently moved to a new PC.  Upon installing iTunes, in the Settings dialogue, I've indicated where my iTunes library is stored.  And yet, all of my albums in iTunes are showing up with the "cloud" icon, meaning that the client doesn't realize there is a local copy.  Clicking the "cloud" icon ends up downloading a duplicate copy of the song/album.
Any suggestions for how to fix this...so that my iTunes client knows all of this music is on my hard drive (in addition to being in the cloud)?
    Thanks!
