Music purchased on the iPad
I used the iTunes app on my iPad to purchase an album from the iTunes Store. How do I get that album copied to iTunes on my Mac? I manually manage my music files, if that changes things. I synched but the album wasn't copied over. Thanks
When syncing music, any music purchased with your iPad should be transferred to your iTunes library the first time you sync your iPad with iTunes after doing so. The same applies with 3rd party apps.
This must not work with music when manually managing music and videos, which doesn't provide much benefit with an iPad since it ins't possible to manually manage music and videos with an iTunes library on more than one computer.
In addition when doing so, if you restore your iPad with iTunes if wanted or needed, you must remember which music was previously manually transferred and repeat. When syncing - making use of iTunes playlists, and/or artists and genres, the playlists, artists, and genres selected under the Music tab for your iPad sync preferences will be pre-selected when restoring from the iPad's backup.

You should be able to copy iTunes purchases over to your computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases. For music from other sources (e.g. copied from CDs) you will need a third-party program to copy them back from your iPad - there are some listed half-way down this page which should work : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

If yes, connect and select iPad on computer iTunes, right click and choose Transfer Purchases to transfer your purchases to computer iTunes. -
My iTunes library shows all music but there is an exclamation mark to the left on all entries and there is a message stating "original file could not be found" although all music is on the iPad.
The massage means what it says. iTunes can't find the actual music files. All iTunes has is a database of where the files should be and they are not there.

Hi I am trying to sync my ip3 but wont allow me to transfer music purchased on the phone to itunes on the laptop. States I have 5 authorised computers on my account but when i logg into my itunes account it only identifies 1 so i carn't deactive all to start again? I am trying to backup data fom myip3 to put on ip4 so carnt even complete sync atm Any ideas on what to do??
To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.
If your sister doesn't know the password for her old ID, and if her old ID is an earlier version of her current ID, she needs to temporarily recreate the old ID so you can delete if from your phone using her current password. To do this, have her go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with her current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to her old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to her old email address. You can now use the password for her current ID to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for her old account ID. After you do this, Next, have your sister recreate her current ID again by going back to https://appleid.apple.com and changing her primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.
Then your can save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to the camera roll on your device, then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted. You will be prompted to either keep or delete the iCloud data from your device. If the data is already in another account you can choose Delete. If you need to migrate it to another account, choose Keep, then choose Merge when signing into the new account. -
I have a large music library on my iPad, that is not currently on iCloud or on my main PC. If I sign up for iTunes Match, and then turn the iTunes Match on my iPad, will the music library from the iPad that is not currently in iCloud move to the iCloud? Or will I loose all that music?

We get an error message when trying to download in-app purchases on the iPad using an iTunes card. This worked on other ipads. Just not this particular one.
We have tried deleting and re-installing the apps and attempting the in-app purchase again. Still get error messages. Welcome to Apple Support Communities
As you know how to open the iTunes Media folder, go to this folder and open iTunes. Then, go to Apps in iTunes and drag the IPA file of the app you want to show up to the iTunes window, so it should be added.
If it doesn't work, delete the IPA, empty the Trash and you will be able to download the application.

Did an update and lost music purchased from the iPhone?
OK, updated a friends iPhone, it appeared to backup and all but when it it was done the music purchased from the phone was missing?? Is it hidden somewhere I can get it back onto her phone? I figured it was like apps that have been bought, once you buy them you can download them again..Guess that's not the case!! also some apps where missing. but that was easy enough to put back on, just a pain!

Everyone should always keep a back up copy of their important info on an external source - external drive, flash drive, dvd, cd, etc.
If you do not back up, you will likely lose it at some point.
Itunes prompts you to back up on occasion. You can click "Support" at the top of this page and type back up. You can use the help feature in itunes.
You can copy the entire itunes folder.
Please back up. I am amazed that some do not back up their info.
It will save a lot of frustration in the future. -

On your phone, go to settings> App Store and iTunes> Turn on Automatic downloads for Music. This should cause music purchases made on other devices to be downloaded automatically to phone.

I selected "AAC-iTunes Plus" as my import settings when importing CD's to my iTunes library. When I reviewed "get info" on purchased songs from iTunes, it says "Kind: Purchased AAC audio file". All of the purchased songs in my library say this. I assumed all purchased songs were "automatically" imported in mp3 format. Do the import settings I chose also apply to purchased music? Also, what can I do to have my library songs changed to mp3 format?
All songs sold in the iTunes Store are AAC/256.
The import setting affects ripping and conversion. It has nothing to do with purchases from the iTunes Store.
If you need MP3s, you can convert your AACs by using this procedure: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1550 But it would be easier to buy MP3s in the first place, for example from Amazon MP3.
MP3s can be used in iTunes or almost any other player, program or device.
