Music randomly stops/starts and Siri activates itself?

I have an iPhone 5, with an updated iOS and everything. Lately I'll be listening to a song with my iphone sitting on a flat surface and the song will suddenly stop itself or start skipping. Also, sometimes in the middle of the song it will stop and Siri will activate iself. I don't have "Raise to Speak" selected in the Siri settings. This just started happening randomly the other day! Has anyone had similar issues? It's very frustrating. I tried holding down the home and power buttons to do a reset, but that didn't work. I thought maybe it was just the songs I was listening to, but I tried it with other albums and podcasts and the problem persists.

Back up and restore via iTunes. If the problem continues, restore as a new device and test. If the problem is solved, there is some kind of corruption in your backup file or maybe it's one of your apps causing problems. If it continues, take it to an Apple Store for evaluation of a possible hardware problem.

    Try here:
    iTunes: Error 13019 during sync
Not updating the iOS should not effect your problem.
As long as all the apps are in the iTunes library, you will not lose app data by updating the iOS.

  • IPod Touch randomly pausing, starting, and fast forwarding?

I have a 16 GB 2nd gen iPod touch and about 6 months ago I purchased Beats by Dr. Dre for them. They worked perfectly until the headband snapped. I then switched to using the earbuds that came with the iPod. A few days ago I purchased another set of Beats by Dr. Dre. They worked fine while using them the first time, but the second time using them any song I would listen to would randomly pause, start, and fast forward. I switched back to the earbuds that came with thr iPod and the problem didn't occur. I'm not sure what the cause of this is so if anyone could help it'd be much appreciated.

    Hello,
I am having a similar problem with my 5th generation Nano (5 weeks old). It started about 1 1/2 weeks ago and paused in only 1 song. When I touched the right side of the screen, the song restarted and continued playing. It happened 2 more times on different days and in different songs. Tonight, it paused 7 times during 3 or 4 consecutive songs. I used the same procedure as above to restart each time. Tonite, after a few more songs played without pausing, I backed up to the first song that had paused and let the song sequence replay. No problems this time??? I have not noticed if there is any fast forwarding occurring, but some songs end abruptly before the end (a separate problem). I am thinking that there may be a glitch at a certain spot on the Nano hard drive causing songs to pause. Is that possible? When playing, my Nano sits on a desk top and nothing is touching it. Thanks in advance.

  • Itunes randomly stop playing and restarts playing like a pause when playing music.

My itunes the latest version 11.1.3 stop playing music randomly and start playing it again. It almost like its buffering itself.
My hard drive is not full.
Already tried to repair disk etc.
I do not know what to do it all start its skipping when I upgraded to OSX Mavericks.
Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening?

Hi, have you found something work for you ?
Happens to me as well but not started in mavericks all started with Mountain Lion , a few weeks before he left mavericks , I thought the problme would be solved by updating , but he did not, it's very frustrating strange thing is that in my case not only iTunes is , if any player, have proven Vox and another which I forget the name .
I also feel the same when you play a song in quick look ( Finder) .
I am desperate this problem is with me for the last month and a half went to a apple store and tell me that my machine has nothing that can not help me, and tried everything , reset my machine with a clean install , restart PRAM , repair permissions hise disk hardware test , and nothing has changed.
When iTunes pause my machine freezes a moment and returns to normal when continuous playback , stops about 1s though sometimes hard to 5s .
We appreciate if you find solution , because I am going crazy . Since neither in apple have been able to help me .
My machine is a Macbook Pro late 2012. Mavericks , iTunes 11.1.3 did not correct my mistakes. Do not know what else to try .

  • Music randomly stopping

I purchased my Xperia Z3 at the end of last month and everything seemed fine until this week. I will be listening to music or watching videos on YouTube and the audio/video will randomly stop. I am unsure whether this is a problem with the headphones or the headset itself because I used a second pair of headphones and the random pauses happened on those as well.
I did test out the phone's waterproof feature but this was when I first purchased the phone, so its unlikely that this could be the problem. Any advice would be appraciated.

were are the videos and/or music stored? which video/music player are you using?

  • Touchpad randomly stops working and I need to disable/enable it in driver settings

My mouse touchpad sometimes (very often, actually) just stops working completely (no mouse movements, no clicks etc.), it's just completely dead, even both click buttons. What I then need to do in order to temporarily fix it is to go Synaptics Pointing Device (this window) and click "disable" and then "enable". This appearently re-enables my touchpad and everything works again for a while. This is becoming a big issue for me. If I don't have a external mouse present, the only way to fix the problem is to restart my laptop. I do have the right drivers installed. Latest version and windows 8.1 drivers. I even updated them with HP Support Assistant to make sure. And I also tried downloading them from here (Synaptics Mouse Driver version 18.1.24.4). Also, this happens completely randomly. Sometimes after 10min of usage, sometimes after a few hours. Also, I am not the one accidentaly disabling it (there is no orange light). Sometimes it even happens that the drivers aren't loaded when laptop turns on, so touchpad isn't working from the start and there's no way to enable it. So I need to restart laptop. How can I fix this?

I have. Multiple times. I even tried installing some older version drivers to see if it works. Currently, I can't get my touchpad to work at all. I'm using my external mouse. I restarted the laptop multiple times and there is no Synaptics icon in the taskbar and touchpad + both buttons are completely unresponsive.

  • My music randomly stops playing while using meetme app.

whenever using my iphone 5s my music will stop playing happans with local music and spotify i contacted apple support and they wanted to bring it in to look at it. any ideas?

    Hi,
I am having the same problem with my iPhone ever since I have upgraded to the 1.1.1 firmware. I have had the following problems.
-Music stops playing when surfing the web.
-After listening to music and exiting iPod mode. The play icon in the status bar still appears. To fix this I initiate iPod mode, play, then pause the song and exit ipod mode.
-Bluetooth icon apears in status bar randomly. I just go into settings and turn the bluetooth off. I think this happens when I go in and out of air plane mode.
-Screen freezes. I just wait and it usually unfreezes or I have to reset the device.
I have 3-4 gigs of free space.
and have tried reseting the phone to fix the problems.
    Thanks
    -James

  • When will we be able to rate music using voice control and Siri?

It's pretty cool to be able to control the music app using voice control, but we really need to be able to rate songs too. I mean I can do everything else I need to do with my music with the voice control, except rate music, and always rate every song when I listen to it. Then, once they're all rated, I create a smart playlist with my top rated of that artist and just sync them to the iPhone, so you can see how important rating it to me as well as many, many more iPhone users.
But, let's say I'm listening to music while I'm running and the iPhone is in an armband. I pretty much can't rate any music then, which *****. So, how about a little surprise with the iOS 7.0.3 update. Throw in the ability to rate music using the voice control and Siri. It's not just because you need to fix bugs and focus on future projects that you can't go back and add some cool updates to some of the old features. It would probably take on of your developers like 15 mintues to code it into the OS.
Let's have a happy update soon. Remember, iPhone 4 users are still Apple customers, too and I'm sure the Siri users would like that as well.

Only Apple would know their future plans and they haven't said. Submit your feedback directly to Apple using the appropriate link on the Feedback page:

  • Music randomly stops playing (same problem in multiple apps)

Since a few days, my Z1C will randomly stop playing sound, while I'm listening music. It will do this up to multiple times per minute, seems somewhat like a online game lagging really badly, after which it will just pause.
It does this on multiple apps (I tried it on the following
    - Spotify
    - Walkman (or whatever the music app is called now)
    - Audible (audiobooks)
The issue happens both when I listen through my bluetooth headphones (Jaybird bluebuds x) as well as on speaker.
I have had the phone for somewhat more than a year now, I recon. The headphone jack is broken because of my own rough handling, but that wasn't a big deal so far because I use bluetooth anyway.
Anyone know what to do about this?

    Hi Bmot,
    Welcome to the community.
You could try booting the device in to safemode, at least this way you can find out if software is the suspect or if it is more likely hardware.

  • My iphone misbehaves when I play music.  It starts and stops, skips to the next or previous song, voice control pops on and off.  Usually this starts about 1/2 hour into playing music.  I just replaced phone thinking it was hardware related but it persist

I recently replaced my iphone thinking this would fix the problem but it still occurs.  I use EXACTLY the same playlists I use on my ipod and the skipping, misbehaving only occurs on my iphone, never on my ipod.  With the new phone I am running OS6.
    Any suggestions?

I’ve read reports from many other iTunes users who are having the same issue I am.  Please read on...
When listening to songs that I purchased from iTunes (as opposed to those I imported from CD), several, but not all, of them stop playing prematurely several seconds (or even minutes) before the end of the tune.  Playback jumps immediately to the beginning of the next tune.
I noticed this, I believe, shortly after moving my iTunes library to a new iMac (3.1 GHz Intel Core i5, 12 GB memory) running iTunes 10.5.3 (3) on Mac OS 10.7.3.  Everything was fine before the move.
Of the 283 purchased songs in my iTunes library, about 100 of them exhibit this behavior.  The song playback times at which this happens range from 2:14 to 5:19.
What is interesting, is that tunes from the same album all end at the same playback time!  For example, I purchased the whole album “River - The Joni Letters” (Herbie Hancock’s album covering a number of Joni Mitchell tunes).  Every song from that album now stops playing at 3:39.  The same happens with other tunes that happen to be from the same album, too.  I have no idea why this would be the case, but it certainly seems significant.
Another interesting finding, is that if I copy one of tunes exhibiting this issue to the desktop and play it from there, the song plays all the way through to the end without a problem.  This would, I think, rule out a corrupt file and tend to point to iTunes itself as the source of the problem.
The problem certainly is annoying, and it would be great if we could find some resolution and get back to enjoying our music without the mind-jarring bump that too often now happens without warning.
    Sincerely,
    Michael Loomis

  • My 4s does not ring, alert, play music randomly shuts off and on and when i shut it off it turns on by itself...can anyone suggest anything?

Hi,  I have a the 4s  i have had it for a couple months...never any problems.  When i went to use it the other morning...before the update I noticed I had some missed calls and text messages - the phone had not rang or alerted me.  I checked the volume in settings and also that the switch on the side was on for sound.  But when I touched it the vibrate on/off screen kept flashing on my phone.  I can only hear the phone ring through my aux wire and headphones.  It does not ring from the bottom...nor does it play music or any video noise.  It does play my alarms.  I tried to shut it off before and after i restored it and it would restart on its own...and then I would have to enter my WIFI password again. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Do a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears.  If that does not help, take it to an Apple store genius bar for the techs to check.

  • ITunes starting and playing by itself?

I recently upgraded my mac mini to OS XMavericks. now my ITunes stars up and starts playing by itself every 3 to 10 minutes. Does any one know if there is a setting i could turn off to stop this? I would really apreciate any feedback

Oh no! You have a ghost. Haha. Just kidding.
Do you have a pair of Apple Headphones connected or have a Apple Remote nearby? If you press the button on the headphones, iTunes will launch and play music. The remote could also cause iTunes to launch and play music. If not, reinstall iTunes. Click here: https://www.apple.com/itunes/ > Download iTunes > Just install the file when it's done downloading.

  • Music randomly stops on iphone 3G

    Hi everybody,
First excuse my english as I am french.
I would like to have some advices. I bought an Iphone 3G less than one year ago. After a few months music started to stop from time to time. I couldn't hear a song from the beginning till the end. And then the whole machine started to shut off. I went to an Apple store and the machine was exchanged. The engineer told me that if the problem appeared once again, it would be because of the datas from the old iphone.
So when the problem appeared on the new phone, i erased all datas. But still i can't play entire songs, it is worst than before. Even the music bought on itunes can't be played right.
I've heard that the new firmware (4 and followers) is not right for the iphone 3G. But if this is true, what solution do i have ?
    Thanks for your advices !

As a former sound engineer, I'd say that the audio quality on most Apple iPods is generally not that great (the original white iPod shuffle being a notable exception), so your comment regarding the iRiver doesn't surprise me. It wouldn't hurt to compare you iPhone against another unit though just in case.
There is a problem with the built-in iPod and iPhone EQ settings in that they boost the bass without reducing overall level, thus causing the signal to 'clip' and producing audible distortion. Given that many CDs are mastered for maximum volume, there's not much you can do about this other than turning the EQ off or selecting a different setting. The same effect is audible in iTunes, although you can use the 'preamp' setting to reduce the volume level before the bass boost is applied, thus minimising any clipping. Some types of music and CDs are worse than others, so not everybody will notice this problem, but it can sometimes be quite pronounced.
I have reported this as a bug to Apple in the past and suggest that yourself and others do the same in the hope that they will fix it by applying a similar 'preamp' boost or cut appropriate to each of the built-in EQ settings to avoid the distortion.
