Music Screensaver

When viewing my Music screen on my iPod Classic, there is a screensaver (for a better word) on the right hand side constantly displays my different album art. They are also moving around the screen. After a few minutes of idle time & I go back to the music screen, the screensaver times out & nothing changes. It shows album art, but doesn't change or move. I have to re-sync my iPod with iTunes to re-activate the screensaver. Not sure if this is a feature or a bug.

Sounds like a bug to me... I don't notice the preview panel freezing on mine. Do you have any large artwork >500x500 pixels or >100kb? I've seen other posts suggesting artwork over these sizes can cause problems elsewhere e.g. cover flow. Perhaps the pseudo-random art selector is always trying to pick a particular problem image on it's second cycle. Come to think of it, I seem to recall that when I first bring up this screen after a reboot it cycles through about 6 items, next time I get there it's read more images into the cache and no longer seems to repeat. Is a reset enough to make it work once again before freezing?

Nokia 5310 Express Music - Screensaver, Powersave ...

Hi.
My nokia 5310 Express Music (my software version is V09.42), has suddenly changed.
My screensaver, powersave and sleep mode stopped working. I have everything ON in the settings.
After some time the screen turns black, but I can still see the wallpaper.
And, if I don't use it for a while the keypad stop working too. If I turn it off and then turn on again it starts working. (I use to believe that it was a hardware problem, but the thing is, when the keypad doesn't work, the volume button,and the PLAY does not work too.
I think both of the problems are related, (the screensaver, powersave, sleep mode, keypad) because they appeared at the same time.
I've tried to update the software using the USB cable, I've tried to restore to the factory settings, I've tried taking out the battery, everything and still not working.
I don't know what to do anymore. Can any of you guys help me?

My creative mediasource player won't play

bought creative x-fi card about 2 months ago and with it came creative mediasource player.
it played any formats, avi mpeg jsut fine, now about a week ago it stoped playing avi format, the black playback screen won't come on, but mpeg still plays fine. also i have morpheus installed... it also only played mpegs now and when i try avi it gives me one of those backgrounds jsut like on xbox when u play music, screensaver type... i tried to repair windows/ reinstall, problem remains... updated mediasource still nothing, but i don't think is creative but something else... cause morpheus stoped working at the same time, anyone encountered this problem and have any idea how to fix it's?? i need help plz

nah i went through windows media player and updated it, with some new codecs and then also updated codecs from microsoft site still the problem persists, i keep getting no playback screen for avi files in creative media cource player/ morpheus/ or windows media player

Can't play my music from the Lion Screensaver

Running Lion from an Early 2008 24" iMac. iTunes 10.4. When album artwork screensaver is on the screen, I tap an album cover. Get the play icon, but no music. Happens with each tap of an album cover. Note: the "Exit" icon shows up in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Hint: it will not allow an exit from the screen.
Giving up, and hitting enter. When I open iTunes, I notice a new playlist for album artwork screensaver. Don't want this palylist. Delete. Follow the same procedures, just like in Groundhoug Day.
Tried re-installing iTunes. Didn't work. Not sure how to uninstall, then re-install Lion.
No help from the Apple Store.
Any ideas?

Turn off the option to "copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library" in the iTunes -> Advanced -> General preferences). Then when you add the tracks to iTunes, they won't be copied to the C: drive. Note that if you want future purchases and imports from CD to be saved to your external drive as well, you'll need to set the location of the iTunes Music folder (iTunes Advanced preference).

On the iPod, go into Settings/General/Auto-Lock and set that for the amount of time you want, form the choices given.
However, a note of caution; this isn't a screensaver function, it's there to prolong battery life. The longer the screen is on before turning itself off, the more battery you are using and the shorter the time before you run out of power.
There's possibly a better way for you to use you iPod than to keep the screen on. Why are you constantly going into the music function? If it's to select a new track, you could possibly use the Shake To Shuffle feature, which will select a new track at random when you shake the iPod. Alternatively, use the basic Shuffle feature. Or create a Playlist (on the iPod), where you can select the songs you want to play at that time, put them in one list and let the iPod play them.

Stopping the "flip" effect during music playback and photo screensaver

Hi,
I love apple TV but have two things that I find really irritating.
Every minute or so as the screen saver plays the floating photo's it flips the entire screen around. Any way to turn this off?
Also, when playing music the album art starts on the left then flips to the right every couple of minutes then flips back. It would be great to turn this effect off! Any ideas?

The flipping for the album art is I believe a lame screensaver attempt, but if so not a very good one.
Can't be disabled anyway.

Screensaver never starting when iTunes plays music

Hi,
I have recently bought a Mac mini that I've put in my living room, connected to my flat screen. The Mac mini is connected by HDMI to my Audio/Video amplifier (Denon) which connects by HDMI to my flat screen. This is fantastic to sit in the sofa to surf the Web and get iTunes playing music in the room.
My problem is that despite the screen saver is turned On in the settings, it never pops up/starts if iTunes is running and playing Music. The impact is that my flat screen is left with static image which is not good. So I can start the visualization in full screen, but I would prefer something automatic to save my flat screen
All my software are up to date (did check a few seconds ago).
This seems somehow something specific to the Mac Mini.
I am wondering if there would be an hidden setting, somewhere, to ensure the screensaver is not blocked or disabled by iTunes?

Screensaver with music

I purchased my laptop in February of this year and shortly after, a screensaver appeared that I had not set up. It included pictures from the sample file and also played music in the background. The music selections were also from a sample file. I wanted to customize the music, so I went into personalize, screensaver and it gave me the option to do so. I had the music all set the way I wanted, but after I chose another desktop wallpaper, it kicked the screensaver out that I had saved and I can no longer get the option to set the screensaver as before. I tried the windows live photo gallery, selected a video I had set up to use and saved it, but, the screensaver only shows me the video with no music. How do I get that option back to set my music and pictures as a screensaver? As I said, it's not something I set up initially. It just automatically appeared one day after my computer went to sleep and it's not a 3rd party screensaver I downloaded.

It seems to be working fine now. **** ios6. Maybe they shouldve tested it better before introducing it

Playing music at screensaver = Slow response?

This is a rather intersting issue. I hope someone could reproduce it, so I know it's not just me.
I can be playing music in iTunes, and after about 15 minutes, my Macbook Pro kicks in the screensaver. Because iTunes is awesome, it keeps playing, as expected. But then, when I go to log back in, it takes ages to load the login GUI. I get the spinning beach ball (when will this ever be something different?) for a good 2-3 minutes. Twice, I've had to force the machine to shut down by holding the power button.
Now. The details.
Macbook Pro, 13" Early 2011.
2.3 GHz Intel Core i5
4 GB RAM
OS 10.8 (12A269)
The screensaver is the "Shell" option.
Does anyone else have this issue? Is anyone able to reproduce it?

I have too many songs to fit all on my iPod (18,000+ and counting) and I also have a wife who listens to TOTALLY different music than I do. She's also not so good on the computer.

To get around this I have two iTunes Libraries and two ITunes Music folders. I keep my main Library seperate (on an external drive) and my wife's in the default iTunes folder. I then shut down iTunes, replace the Library and Library.xml (always keeping a current copy of each backed up elsewhere) and then re-start iTunes and re-focus (in options) the iTunes music folder location.
When I go back to MY music it can take quite a few minutes as iTunes needs to update the folder when you change it but this does do the trick.

When you access the gallery, for example, or applications in S60 phones, you are not seeing the folder you are seeing all relavent media files on the phone, no matter where they are stored.
"Images and videos" shows all image and video files on the phone memory and memory card. You only see the actual folders if you use File Manager.

When screensaver is on, music stutters. In combination with airplay?

When my Apple TV G2 is playing (airplayed from macbook) music, and the screensaver (Reflections) kicks in, the music stutters often. Audio is digital out, photo's just from ATV (flowers). Seems like CPU has trouble.

Yeah... MacMini seems to be a good choice until G6 hit the market...
But you have to be careful...Intel Macs are not as popular between developers as we would like them to, so if you have many other apps, you´re not going to be able to run them....by now

Music\video playlist - Screensaver issues

Before the last apple tv 2 update, I used to be able to have a music/video playlist play for a party and have the screensaver display pictures while playing music, then when a video would play the screensaver would automatically switch off and play the video.
After the update the music video will not overide the screensaver. The sound will play for the video but it will be stuck on the screensaver and not break out of it until I hit the menu button on the remote. Any ideas?

I really want this feature too, but annoyingly, it doesn't exist yet. What you can do is mirror your Mac's display to the ATV. Click here for a list of supported Macs.
If you have a PC or unsupported Mac, you can use a cheap software called Air Parrot, however from my own experiance I have to warn you it may be quite laggy, but you can use a trial version first simply to test it out.
With Air Parrot, you can also use secondary screen, or specific app mode, both very handy features not avalible natively on Mac OS X. With secondary screen mode, you can have the visulizer only on the ATV or vice versa, however the other screen remains black.

Try manually connecting the device to your PC in Disk Mode and then restoring it iTunes.

Putting iPod devices with a Click Wheel into Disk Mode
If necessary, verify that your iPod has a Click Wheel.
Before placing the iPod into Disk Mode, verify that it is charged.
Toggle the Hold switch on and off (set it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons for at least six seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
When the Apple logo appears, release the Menu and Select buttons and immediately press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears.
Connect the iPod to your computer; the screen on the iPod will should say "Do not disconnect".
If you are having difficulty putting your iPod into Disk Mode, set it on a flat surface. Make sure that the finger pressing the Select button is not touching the Click Wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Play/Pause button toward the outside of the Click Wheel and not near the center. If you are still unable to put your iPod into Disk Mode, use one finger from one hand to press the Select button, and one finger from the other hand to press the Play/Pause button.
