Music Selection for a Birthday Party

I am trying to select some good music for use in a movie of my son's 3rd birthday. I have been racking by brain listening to music clips but so far haven't been successful in finding anything that seems to work. Any suggestions on an album or song(s) that might be appropriate?

The obvious song for your wee boy's film is of course the "Happy Birthday to You" penned by a couple of American sisters and, believe it or not, actually 'owned' by a corporation who look for a substantial fee for its use. Be aware of that.
I use on my iMovies the film music of the Italian maestro Ennio Morricone whom I believe to be the same soul as Mozart. Nevertheless, copyright is held on those materials, too. I recommend that ~ whatever you use ~ caption your movie at the end with credits both for music and any lyric; mention the publisher; and if it's from a CD it's best to purchase the CD, and give the name and label for that. Just in case! If you are seen to be promoting these materials, that will look good in the extremely unlikely event of litigation.
I say all this, MacDouglas, because my suggestion it to use as music for the iMovie of your son's birthday party the materials of a notoriously litigious corporation ~ Disney. Don't let that put you off, though: just be conscious of what you are doing.
The music for something like Disney's PINOCCHIO would be a good place to start: you should be able to hear snips of Disney music on the iTunes site: pieces you think sound right you can then maybe go and search to download, but purchase is recommended: it's the difference between 'appropriation' and outright theft.
I trust your wee fella had a good time and his little contemporaries will, I am sure, enjoy seeing themselves and their parents will treasure whatever you eventually produce.

Music Selection for iPhone 4 in itunes for Sync very slow

Hi,
I'm using itunes 10.0.1.22.
- itunes Database is stored on a NAS (~12.000 files / ~170GB)
- access via WLAN
- itunes is synced with 2 iPods and 1 iphone 4
For every device, I have to select music-files for syncing due to the restricted storage.
For ipods it goes smoothly by clicking every checkbox (Album, Title, Artist...) I like and sync.
When I try to select music for my iphone, I always have to wait at least 1 minute after clicking ONE checkbox. Syncing goes quick as usual.
Deleting Sync-Progress did not help. In addition to that, I removed all the music on iphone (by disabling music option) and started a new selection. But this didn't work too.
Does anyboy have a similar problem/issue? Is there a solution or a recommondation?
If you know another topic in discussion that will solve my problem, please post the link.

I am having the same problem. Only difference is that my iTunes library is stored on an external USB drive. I think the problem must be related to the library not located on the local itunes drive. I noticed that everytime I select a check-box, the external drive 'activity light' starts blinking like mad. And only when it stops does iTunes start responding again.
Did you get an answer or anything on this? It's driving me mad!

Music selected for purchase not showing in my shopping cart

Lately I've been having this problem where I do an Itunes search for some music. When it shows up I click the "Add album" button which should put it into my shopping cart. Then when I want to check out, the music isn't in my cart. When I try to re-add I get a message from Itunes saying the item is already in my cart and can't be added again. I return to my cart and it still isn't there so I can't purchase it. I'm on auto-upgrades for so my version of Itunes should be current. This doesn't happen every time but often enough that I've noticed and its really getting annoying.
Very frustrating when it happens ! Anyone else have this problem ? If so what is it ?

I read through this thread because I'm having the identical problem. The thread doesn't really give a solution to the problem ....just that for [you] it resolved itself mysteriously.
What I'd like is the opportunity to empty my cart, but I can't since there's nothing there to empty.
My main concern is that, since when I try to re-add the item, I get the message stating that it's already in my cart, when [and if] I do use the cart to buy something else, will these items be download, or will it download only the items that are visible. This is all new to me since I've only ever used the one-click buying option without the cart. Is this an idiosyncracy of the software, the server, the individual purchased item, or what???
Any and all suggestions welcome.

ITunes 12 won't let me edit my music selection for my iPhone

On my iPhone (5s) page on my iTunes I cannot scroll - see the screen shot. I can't scroll down that page to see Albums, etc. nor can I scroll within "Playlists" or "Artists". If I try to click into the window, it just selects a song or a playlist rather than activating that window. If I try to use my downkey to scroll down the page it just scrolls through the left side bar - down to Movies, etc. My iphone and itunes are both up to date. In fact, this is true of any individual page, such as "Summary" or "Apps". I can't scroll within the page and if I try it just takes me down to the next item in the side bar. Any tips? Thank you!

The OP already has some playlists created and want s to add to those specific playlists.
An iTunes library is not a playlist.

My music selection for slideshows now appears limited to playlists

I have successfully created a number of slideshows accompanied by single tracks picked from my Library.
Now, however, choosing Music only appears to let me pick an entire Playlist from within the Library i.e. the single tracks are no longer visible from the pick list.
Any ideas on what has gone wrong and how to fix it?

Suggestion, Music ratings for iMovie

I have noticed that when looking at your music selection for the movie, imovie does not allow you to rate your music, or view the rating that you may have already placed on them. In my opinion I believe for this to be an important feature when trying to create a sound track for your movie.

Not to be a party pooper but this is by no means a function of a video editor. There is iTunes for rating music. Now, it would be nice if iMovie showed your iTunes ratings but... You can make a playlist of favorite or "starred items in iTunes rather easily.

Songs stuck on itouch with no music selected

I have removed most of the music from my iTunes and have no music selected for my itouch, how ever it still has 40 songs listed on the itouch.
Most of these songs have been deleted from itunes.. any ideas on how to remove them from the itouch?

I would think there would be a way to select this group as the recipients once instead of doing 12 searches through my contacts to get all of the members in the group but I cant seem to figure it out. I must be missing something. Can you help?

Contact groups do not allow for group emailing. they are just an organizational tool for the contacts list.

Lost music on ipod because "playlists selected for updating no longer exist

Not sure what I've done. I recently downloaded newer version of itunes. Then when synching, I had too much music in my library for the ipod to handle so it told me about doing the smart playlist. I erased a couple of playlists on the itunes menu I no longer wanted and then when I went to synch, this error came up "songs on the ipod cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected for updating no longer exist."

Basically, you can't. There are no adjustments or filters in FCE that could separate the music from the 'shout-outs' and enable you to lower the music and/or raise the voice.
You could attempt a workaround by using noise reduction with a plugin like WaveArts MR Noise but that may or may not work since music isn't a constant type of noise. However, you can download a fully-functional demo to test whether or not it would help.

Video with NO music while apply 'Convert Selection for iPod'.

I have 80GB video iPod.
In iTunes while I add any .mpeg file and play it into iTunes running fine. But while I make 'covert selection for ipod' for that file and while playing the file which I have after conversion into iTunes, doesnt play music. means I can see video without music.
This is strange behaviour and frsutrating me a lot.
Can anybody help me to resolve this ?

Reinstalling itunes fixed it, Now the video has no audio in itune OR theiPod.

Why would there be both cyrillic and asian writing in my selection for "artists" when scrolling through my "device" under artists, for my device "music" tab, but not listed anywhere that I can find in my Itunes library? Is there reason for concern?

I was perusing my music selections in my itunes account, clearing out useless stuff I don't listen to, and under "My device," under the "music" tab, in "Artists,"
i happened upon what is an artist's name (or a place holder for an artist's name written in cyrillics. Another artist's name two spaces down from that one is written in some form of japanese/chinese. Is this something I can ascertain what it is on my own, is this something that is common, or is this some sort of thing launched by the bad guys to hack my computer?
I cannot find any correlating artists when attempting to locate these "artists," in my Itunes library. This is some freaky stuff!

Possibilities include source files with multiple tags, tags in Reverse Unicode and/or ID3v2.4 format. Select one of the entries so that you can identify which track it belongs to and then investigate back in iTunes. You may want to try using the option Convert ID3 Tags... > None a few times followed by Convert ID3 Tags... > v2.3. This will lose any currently embedded artwork but should mean that the tag data is read consistently by iTunes and any devices.

Appearane of 'Music' functions (I>> > II <<I, plus volume slider) on the lock/log in screen (when first turning on the iPhone) thus far seems without pattern, i.e. regardless of which if any applications are up in the background, and indeed even when all have been quit.
All visual aspects of 'Music' appear normal after launch including the title scroll across the top in vertical mode. However, while pressing play (>) converts the play (>) icon to pause (II), selected song does not play and the elapsed time bar (upper end between the track count and the repeat/shuffle icons) remains stationary at 0:00 or at any point to which it is dragged. When using home sharing this same problem persists regardless of what output is selected.
Hope that may prompt a thought somewhere.

Rid your Mac of the adware that is installed. To do that with Safari, go to the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. Uninstall any Extensions that appear unless you know their purpose and are certain you need. To learn how adware may have come to be installed on your Mac, read How to install adware.
