Music Selection On TV

I have the 60GB iPod Photo with the requisite A/V cables for viewing on my TV. Does anyone know if there's a way to get the
b current music selection to appear on the TV screen
Thanks!

I just came browsing the discussions to see if there was an answer to just this same question. When I hooked up my AV Cable, I kind of expected to be able to enable the video out for slide shows, and see whatever was on the little iPod screen on my TV screen. Doesn't seem to be so.
So I guess we have to see if we can get it inserted into the enhancements list. It clearly has the hardware needed to do it. Just a small matter of software....
Maybe they haven't thought through the reason why this would be a good idea. As the size of the storage in an iPod got bigger, the size of the library it can hold got bigger. I'm going to have about 1000 CDs in my 60GB iPod. I don't know all that music all that well. It would be really good to be able to show the current music selection on the TV screen as it plays. This is clearly a bad idea for listening on battery power, but I have a Pod Dock sitting there right beside my TV and Stereo, so it isn't going to be used on battery power in this situation.

  • "Music selected can't be found or can't be opened" ??

This is not quite like other posts I have seen on iTunes-iPhoto integration. I am using iPhoto 5.0.1 and iTunes 4.9.
I have my iPhoto and iTunes libraries on an external harddrive. Both work just fine within each application. However, when I select music from my iTunes library to be played during a slideshow, a) it can not be played for previewing purposes (in the selection mode), and b) if I do select a song or songs, when the slideshow is started I get the following error "Music selected can't be found or can't be opened".
Let me add one last bit of detail... I had this external harddrive situation before and things worked fine, but the harddrive decided to hiccup some time ago and I didn't have a backup ;-( Luckily DiskWarrior bailed me out for the most part and now I have a backup drive. That being said, I had to reconstruct my iTunes and iPhoto libraries. The former was in pretty good shape though there are a number of tunes that are still missing (and show the little warning icon in iTunes if they are). The tunes I am picking for the slide show are not among these. As for the iPhoto library, I created a new one and added all my old photos to the new library. I don't know if this situation is the cause of this or not. Any ideas?
One last thing: there is one song I can play in iPhoto, it is part of an album that is intact though none of the other songs on that album can be played or used in the slideshow. This song happens to be one that I'd tried a handful of times to test things out. All of a sudden, iPhoto works only with this one song.

    Alberto,
I have Quicktime Pro also and paid for the upgrade.
You can try it without upgrading Quicktime, but I think the newer version of iPhoto is going to want the latest Quicktime. I am pretty sure iTunes is going to want it too. Compressing with the new H.264 codec is great. I am sure you will like the new features of QTPro.

  • My 2nd gen ipod touch will only sync some of the music selected.  How do I get to synch all the music I have selected from i-mac with itunes 11

My ipod touch will only sync some of the music selected.  It only wants to sync the newest music and will not sync previous music even though some of these songs were previously on the ipod touch.   I am connecting to a imac with itunes 11.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • I am editing an idvd slideshow to have some of the music selections from itunes fade out at the end of each vacation segment using music reflecting the country visited.  Is there a way to fast-forward the slideshow to observe the where the music ends.

I am editing an idvd slideshjow to have some of the music selections fade out at the end of each vacation segment.  Is there a way I can fast-forward through the slideshow so I can see where the music is ending and adjust the time to end properly?  (without repeatedly clicking the forward button on the e-remote)

Thanks very much, varjak paw.  I checked half a dozen tracks on my iMac from different albums which did not copy over, plus several which did copy over.  They all show the same location:
Users/Christina/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music/Brandenburg Concertos etc. (one example)
What does this mean relative to the music which didn't copy? Is there another step?  or somewhere else I should look?
And wow, thanks for the info about not having legal right to keep the tracks from the CDs.  I am embarrassed that I didn't know.  I gave most of my CDs to my sister. Before I delete all this highly prized music (400-500 tracks) -- if I get the CDs back from her and keep them at my house, can I continue to keep those tracks on my iMac?  (Sister does not have iTunes or even know what an mp3 is, so it's not like she has copied or imported the CDs -- I just didn't realize I needed to retain possession.)
Or do I still need to remove all that music from my library?
Thank you again for your help.

  • Message says my slideshow music selection can't be found or opened?

I created a Slideshow complete with music from my iTunes library and played it a number of times yesterday. Last night when I tried to run the slideshow for an event, I kept getting the message my music selection can't be found or can't be opened. The folder and all selected songs are still there and none are highlighted, but iPhoto's slideshow just won't recognize it for some reason. Some of the songs on the playlist are stored on an external harddrive as well as my main drive. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Jim:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. First make sure you've selected only the Playlist icon and nothing else.
If still unavailable see if you can create a new temporary slideshow and access that playlist or track. If it works there then it's something with that particular slideshow.
Can you play those songs in iTunes?

  • Better music selection in slideshow and 'sync' to music

It's a pain to select a song you want to play along with slideshow. I have to move things around in my iTunes library to get it to work. I'd like to be able to select a song, or two, without having to arrange it all ahead of time in iTunes.
Then, I'd like to hit a button to sync the slideshow to the duration of the music selected (whether it's one, two or more songs). It takes too long to try to get the music to match the duration of the slideshow as it is.

    Jed:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Did you repair disk permissions after each of the updater were run? It's important that it be done after any software installation or update. I'd give it another go and see if that helps. Also Terence's question regarding Quicktime is important.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB file backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Slow scrolling in iPod music selection window in iTunes8

    Hi,
Since the update to iTunes 8 I've noticed that scrolling/dragging the scroll bar in the iPod Music selection window has become very very slow, to the point where clicking on the scroll bar and dragging it causes a CPU load spike on my Centrino vPro dual-core Lenovo T61 (4GB RAM 32-bit Windows) and very jerky responses.
This is only happening when selecting Music/Podcasts on both iPods. The Grid view/Coverflow etc is not showing ths behaviour.
This used to be smooth and quick - anyone else seeing this?
    Tim

You are comparing apples and oranges - or further afield horses and carts.
The Portable Document Format is a rendered format. A layout engine has mapped character codes to glyph codes and the geometry of the line layout has been computed. What remains is to draw on the colour desktop display.
Apple Pages in layout mode and Microsoft Word in layout mode have to do the rendering, that is, map from character specifications to glyph shapings while composing ligatures in the line, decomposing ligatures at the end of the line and in tracked line layout, and much, much more.
It is proprietary information when Pages and Microsoft use which parts of the operating system to do what, and when they do whatever they do themselves. Nominally, there is ATSUI Apple Type Services for Unicode Imaging and there is CoreText.
Apple in its developer discussions is saying that ATSUI is slower than CoreText, by about fifty percent if memory serves. All of this again involves further parameter, namely whether the layout is by line or is by paragraph.
In the implementation of Apple TrueType 2 in 1994, the layout is by line hence the LLM Line Layout Manager. At that time, URW in Hamburg had an algorithm for paragraph level layout developed by Dr Peter Karow and Prof Hermann Zapf.
One of the reasons type developers gave for having hesitations about the composition model in Mac OS 7.5 in 1994 was that the layout was limited to the line level. Of course, so was QuarkXPress, PageMaker and every other application available at the time.
Anyway, OS X 10.4 and OS X 10.5 is still line level for speed, but if CoreText boosts rendering speed in OS X 10.6 it will also be possible to provide support for paragraph level layout (?). Alongside support for smart typographic scaling that is in the OS, but is not in Apple applications at this point.

  • In the music window of iMovie music selections are shown a number of times. Why? Shouldn't the duplications be deleted? They are not doubled in iToons

In the music window of iMovie , music selections are shown a number of times. Why? Shouldn't the duplications be deleted? They are not doubled in iToons.
How does one delete them? How do you avoid duplications in the future?

Are you referring to the jingles?
They are available in different lengths; short, medium and long. They also may be available in .CAF and .AIFF formats.
If you are referring to your songs in iTunes, I have never seen that one before.

  • Deleting Music Selections

I have just completed deleting most music selections from my iPhone 4s with the exception of four remaining song albums which  won't delete for some unknown reason. Does anybody know how to remove them?

    Noel,
I found the location where the file is located.  The data is stored in an XML file located in the following directory C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Adobe\XMP\File Info\2.0\work\FileInfoMRU.xml.  Where username is the name of the user or what they used as a name.
    Thanks,
    David

  • Songs stuck on itouch with no music selected

I have removed most of the music from my iTunes and have no music selected for my itouch, how ever it still has 40 songs listed on the itouch.
Most of these songs have been deleted from itunes.. any ideas on how to remove them from the itouch?
    I have no music selected
I have turned off the itouch and restarted it
    thank you!

    Could someone please help me?
I now have 159 songs, now stuck on my iTouch, with no music selected.

  • I updated my iPhone and now none of the music on it will play. When I sync, I can change teh music selections on it, but they all won't play and are greyed out. Only the Playlists, Artists, Albums are black font, but all songs are grey and won't play

I recently updated my iPhone 3G to 5.0 (9A334) and it was somehow interrupted during restoration, or at least that is what it tells me. But it keeps making a new restore and adding it to a list, but never gets through without getting interrupted. anyways, I kind of got through all that, but now all the music on the iPhone won't play and is greyed out. I had some APPs greyed out, but they are not as important. Music is a huge investment in my life and this part of it has gone silent. I SYNC with my iMac. Resyncing doesn't help. I can change the selections, but can never get them to play on the iPhone.
    Any ideas?

I'm having the same issue, i restored my phone to Factory settings, even tried restoring it to my backup, half of my music bought from itunes won't play on my iphone and i'm super annoyed, this only happened once i updated to ios 7.2 so i assume its another glitch to go with my imessages not sending, getting sick of this.

  • IDVD menu and music selection

I created a DVD and have replaced the Theme music with a selection from iTunes. When I go into the chapter menus, I am not able to select the music from iTunes. It reverts back to the default music. The default is really loud and doesn't fit the theme of the DVD.
I have tried to select iTunes under "media" and highlight the selection I want, I click on apply and it doesn't work.
How do I select music, if that doesn't work how do I at least turn down the volume in the DVD?
    Thanks,

    Sue,
Thank you for your welcome! I would like to say it is good to be here, but I am here because of a problem.
To answer your question, this is purchased music on a CD that has been uploaded into iTunes. I have successfully used the cut for the introduction to the DVD. It works fine, but when I try to use the same music on the chapter menus, following the same procedure, it doesn't work. I get the Theme music with the clarinet. The DVD is of a classical music concert and therefore, the clarinet music just doesn't work.
The music I am using is of a Danish choir (Herning Dregnekor) singing.
I hope that has answered your query.
    Thank you for asking.
I will be checking out your suggested URL, thank you.

  • Deleting itune music selection from iweb site

(New & non techie) iWeb Q: Dragged itunes music sel. onto first page of iwebsite. Gray box that went on top of page then eliminated first-page photo in background. Went through "Inspector", Quick time, but could not get it to work.(song play) Would like to get itunes song OFF of site as it is causing problems. I.e. On all other computers opening my web page, a prompt comes down entitled: "AUTHORIZE COMPUTER which then reads beneath: _"This computer is not authorized to play (the song)" if you purchased in itunes then open itunes and auth this computer to play by entering your apple id and pw"_ and I can't give that out to everyone that uses another computer. (not all my friends want to do this but its also messing up their pc or macs(freezing in some cases until they manage to click out of the AUTH COMP box drop down. My question is: How can I just delete the whole itunes song / quick time prompt from the site... period ...(until I can take a class in how to do this without ruining my site?) One added note: The photo that I REposted covered up the gray box and I can't find it.. (even though I went to top of tool bar and clicked all the "back to front, front to back items...) the one that I originally dragged the song into and while the photo is back,(REposted) there is a Q- time bar at the bottom of the photo (which suggests that the photo is occupying the gray box anyway?? Any help would certainly be appreciated. Sincerely, Eugene PS: if needed: "[email protected]"

Click on the item in the iWeb page until there are four squares in the for corners, i.e. select it, and hit the Delete key.
You can only put none DRM audio tracks on a web page. Any protected file from the iTunes store will not be permitted.

  • Changing AppleID seems to make iTunes forget music selections

Greetings.  I changed my AppleID a few days ago.  I just connected my iPod classic to sync it, and noticed that all my selections had disappeared.  I use 'Selected Playlists, artists, albums, and genres" to choose the music that goes on my iPod.  It took quite a long time to get it the way I wanted.  The iPod is in good shape and I can see all my music is still there if I click the disclosure triangle in iTunes.  But no music is selected to sync (same goes for podcasts).
It's my suspicion that my AppleID is somehow stored on the iPod and now doesn't match what I changed it to.  There's little or no music on there from the iTunes store, so I don't think it's a matter of copy protection.  I'd really, really hate to have to reenter those choices by hand.
Of course it's possible that something chose this moment to fail, but I think it's more than coincidence.  Has anyone else encountered this?  More importantly, has anyone found a way to fix it?

Was probably a dumb question on my part. If you switch to manual management I don't think you get to see any selection boxes on the Music tabs etc.
As far as I'm aware the device is tied to the Library rather than the Apple ID. I don't have multiple accounts but I've certainly updated devices when I've explictly signed out of the store without any issues such as you describe.

  • ITunes 12 won't let me edit my music selection for my iPhone

On my iPhone (5s) page on my iTunes I cannot scroll - see the screen shot.  I can't scroll down that page to see Albums, etc. nor can I scroll within "Playlists" or "Artists".  If I try to click into the window, it just selects a song or a playlist rather than activating that window.  If I try to use my downkey to scroll down the page it just scrolls through the left side bar - down to Movies, etc.  My iphone and itunes are both up to date.  In fact, this is true of any individual page, such as "Summary" or "Apps".  I can't scroll within the page and if I try it just takes me down to the next item in the side bar.  Any tips?  Thank you!

A temporary fix is to click on the top tap named "on this iPhone".  Next, toward the bottom you'll see "Autofill From:", select your new playlist and it will load new music.
    What new playlist?
The OP already has some playlists created and want s to add to those specific playlists.
An iTunes library is not a playlist.
