Music server import problems to Itunes

I'm sort of new at this, but I exported 1500 albums from my music server to a folder on my hard drive on my computer. I then copied and pasted the music files, by dragging over to Itunes (converts to MP3). I only see about 450 albums in Itunes. Where did the other albums go? What am I doing wrong. Please help, thanks.

  • All of the music I imported to my iTunes account on a different computer is gone. It is on my iPad, is there any way to put it back on my computer?

I recently got my computer back from Geek Squad and about three fourths of my iTunes library is gone. All of the music I imported directly to this computer, and all of the music I purchased is here, but most of my library is originally from a family computer. I transferred it to this computer, but since i got it back, iTunes says it can't locate it. We don't have the family computer anymore either.
I do have all the music on my iPad though. Is there any way to transfer it back to my computer?

This makes no sense. It doens't matter where they originated from.
If they were in iTunes on this computer and this backup is of this computer, they are from this computer.
Look in /My Music/iTunes/iTunes media/Music/ folder and see what is there?

  • Import problem in iTunes 9...names, data, but no music.

This just started recently. No idea why.
I'll put in a CD. It checks the internet for artist info, etc., and imports it all in. Goes through the motions of importing, but much more quickly than normal. When I go to play the music, it skips through the entire list of freshly imported tunes--as if I were manually arrowing down through the list--then begins playing older material already in my library, the next song that appears on the list after the freshly "imported" music.
It's done this with the past 3 CD's I've put in, both commercial and independent releases. At this point I';m a little hesitant to upgrade to 10 while something's broken.

    Try this:

  • HT203164 Slow copying of music CD's onto computer iTunes library

Copying music CD's onto my computer varies from 5 min. to over an hour, even within a boxed set of similar CD's.  All CD's are clean and non-scratched, and "error correction" is disabled.  Is this normal? How can I speed the process? Is my CD drive at fault?

When you buy your new iMac you will be able to have the installation process transfer all your applications, data (including music, pictures, documents, etc) and settings to your new computer. In the past that was done via Firewire. I'm not entirely sure of the process with the new iMacs that don't have firewire. I think it can be done via ethernet and probably via tha thunderbolt cord using a firewire adapter but you'll want to check that out.
With the your new computer properly connected to your old computer, the initial booting of the new computer will include the ability to move everything over.
If for some reason you don't want to do that (smart if you have some horrible software issue that is causing problems) you can connect your old computer to the new one and start it in Target Disk mode where it will be seen as a hard drive. You can then manually copy over all your music and import that into iTunes (and any other data you want).
Somebody here will surely point you to directions for connecting an older iMac with no Thunderbolt to a newer iMac with no Firewire.

  • On windows 8 and itunes I have importing problems the DVD is only reading the music cd from 1.5x to 4.0x for 95% of the time, it does hit speeds of 30x for the other 5% of the time. Is it a driver issue with the DVD or is it  a windows 8 issue?

No. You have no alternative but to plug it into a computer running iTunes and restore it.

  • Itunes on PC as music server, library on a NAS and Airplay amplifier

    Hello everybody,
I am putting in place a music server based on I-Tunes, actaully installed (prototype stage) on a quiet laptop.
I want to keep my media file on a NAS, hardwired to the network. So I will declare I-tunes library on the NAS.
The NAS will be connected to an Airplay compatible amplifier, which is visible from Itunes (Loudspeakers).
    My question:
    - When selecting a song from Itunes with the laptop, is the data flow going directly from the NAS to the Airplay amplifier (both hardwired) or does it have to go through the laptop (WIFI)?
    Thank you for your help!
    Dominique

It says: "Important: Windows operating systems don't recognize Mac OS-formatted disks (HFS or HFS Plus formats)".
The Mac can read (and write) Windows formatted disks.
As your iPod is Windows formatted, and you want to copy from PC to Mac, that shouldn't be a problem.
If you have your complete library on your iPod , you can also use a third party application like 'Senuti' (freeware) or 'ipodRip' (shareware) to transfer the contents of your iPod to the Mac. Your playlists on your iPod probably will be saved too.
Do a Google search for the applications to find the URL's (they will probably be first on the list).

after dragging a mp3 into it. When i preview the file in imovie it souds ok.
Also i see the red dot with the number 1 in the itunes logo while dragging the mp3.

I'm having the exact same issue, but still haven't figured out what it is. I note that at the top of this thread it indicates that there are two "helpful" entries and one "solved" entry, but I can't find the solved one, so maybe someone will repost it here or kindly link to it.
There is one icon missing though.
As I read through the excellent tutorial at http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/imovie_09stone.html I scroll down to the point where he talks about dragging music in from iTunes, which is what I'm trying to do. I can see, in his screen shot, the extra little icon that is a red oval and a white "1" in it. I don't get that icon when I am trying to drag my music into the video. I do get the green and white plus icon when I try to drag my music in. Also I DO get BOTH the red 1 and the green plus when I try dragging in a sound effect, which I can do with no problem. But why not the music?
I've been able to drag in music with no problem in other productions, so I can't figure out what is going on with this one. I'm sure there is a setting somewhere that got flipped, but I can't figure out where.
In desperation I also tried adding an extra title slide at the end of my video just to make sure there is more video time than music time in the production, but that didn't help at all.
    Any help guys?

    Hi
Due to some kind of copy protection in iTunes - I don't copy directly from this in iMovie
to my projects. (Most often the result of doing it in iMovie is a DVD without any sound)
    I do
    • In iTunes - collect needed audio into a new Playlist
    • then burn this out as an Audio-CD .aiff (NOT .mp3)
    • This CD I copy into a folder on my Mac (often containing other material that's connected to the project)
    • And then I drag and drop these .aiff files into my movie project in iMovie.
This works Greatly and even more so when I do my DVD.
    Yours Bengt W

  • I can't import my music on my computer to iTunes?

I have a few albums of music in .mp3 format on my computer, but I can't import them into iTunes. When I try to drag it in, nothing happens, and trying to import it through the import menu prompts a sound (that three-toned Apple sound) and nothing happens. Some help would be greatly appreciated.

It could be a permissions problem if you've moved a drive from one computer to another.
See Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows for details.
iTunes may also fail, without error, to import mp3 files with certain internal inconsistencies. See mp3val for a repair tool.
Lastly, if the files are not properly tagged, they could have been imported to the Unknown Artist/Unknown Album area of the library rather than being where you expect to find them. .

I have the same problem, where iTunes seems to work OK, but the server where they maintain their help files is not available. It looks to me like Apple keeps all their help information on a server named help.apple.com, and the people that maintain that server have not gotten around to creating the appropriate help folders for iTunes 10.5. If you go to http://help.apple.com/itunes/win/10.4, you find the help for 10.4. Maybe it's the same as for 10.5, and maybe not.

  • Can iTunes act as UPnP music server?

    Hello,
I fail to find out if iTunes can act as UPnP music server
and if not, if it is planned to do so.
More and more wi-fi radios (like Roku) can connect to your
PC and stream the music from there provided that your
    music server supports UPnP.
    Many thanks for any hint...

No, iTunes itself does not work as a UPnP server, though other such servers can pull from the iTunes library, presuming of course that you import your tracks in a format such a server can handle. Whether or not Apple has any plans for iTunes to ever support UPnP, no one here will know or can say.

  • How do I get my music back from a computer which has been recently serviced. I am able to log into my itunes account but lost half of my library which was music I imported originally.

I need help. I recently had my cpu serviced by Geek Squad, They completely renamed the CPU and now all of the music I imported is gone. I dont even have my library anymore. I can usually click on itunes and play music from my library. Its all gone. I have authorized this "new" computer for my account but I still dont have my library. I even went in and deauthorized the computer under the old name. I am very frustrated, as i have some songs which were purchased on itunes on my phone but not all of the music that was imported from CDs. Most of which I got rid of once I imported them into my library. all I want is my entire library back. On my old iphone 3g, which I let my kids use, my entire library is there but on my 4gS, i only have the music which was purchased through itunes. I miss my songs and have no idea where to begin with this process.

Your  music will only be where you put it.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup cop of your computer.
Certainly you did not have our computer serviced without making sure your backup copy was up to date.

  • Problem with iTunes and iPhone Music organization. PLEASE READ AND HELP!

    Hello All!
I have this problem concerning iTunes and my iPhone. When I add music, and I update the Artist title to organize it in my iPhone, It shows EDITED on my mac in iTunes, but not my iPhone. I took a screen shot of what It shows. The TOP is iTunes showing "Arie Dixon" and "Arie Dixon & Olivia Cipolla" two seperate CD's, yet different Artist Titles, just the way I want it. The BOTTOM shows how the file was originally, in 3 seperate titles, "Bebe Boohgz" "The Jackmove 3" and "Arie Dixon 'Bebe Boohgz' and Olivia Cipolla". The problem is that iTunes shows it in the correct title, but my iPhone won't. This is my 2nd iPhone 4 I have that has this problem. I'm not sure if it's the settings or encoding, can someone help me out? I can't be the only person with this problem. Apple rep looked at me like o_O
I also have music that won't appear in my iPhone, I manually have to search for, but appears on my iTunes in the correct title.
I also have everything updated, and have the new os x release.

So plug the device into the computer and upgrade.
Are you getting a specific error message when trying to do this?
As for the message about the media disappearing, of course it will.  This is how iOS upgrades work.  The device is wiped and the newest version of iOS for the device is installed as a "new" device then the device is restored using the backup created prior to the upgrade.
All the content on the device should already exist in iTunes on the computer.
If you want to move your iTunes library to a different drive for capacity reasons, do the following:
    Close iTunes
Copy or Move the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the C drive to the other drive.
While holding SHIFT launch iTunes.  iTunes will then prompt the user to select a library or create a new one.  Point iTunes to the new iTunes folder location.
