Music shows up in iTunes but not on the iPod

I'm not sure what to do next. One of the CDs I had on my iPod just disappeared the other night. I thought it might have been my deck in my car, so I unplugged it and then searched on the iPod itself for the CD, and it didn't show up there either. So I came home and I connected the iPod to my computer and in iTunes, I clicked on the iPod, and it said the CD was there. So I unplugged it and checked on my iPod again, and the CD still wasn't showing up. I reconnected it to the computer and checked it AGAIN in iTunes and it still said that the CD was on my iPod. I reset it with the center button and menu, and then I checked it again and on my iPod it wasn't there, but it still showed up in iTunes as being on my iPod. So I deleted them off of the iPod, reburnt the CD, put the files onto the iPod, and in iTunes it said the songs were on the iPod. So I checked it on the actual iPod, and they weren't there! I updated the software and everything and tried it again, but it still didn't fix the problem. It's just one CD I'm having trouble with, everything else works fine, and back when the CD showed up in my iPod it played fine. Any suggestions?

hmmmmm. we'd better quickly check to see if you're getting a Windows drive letter confusion. for troubleshooting advice on that one, see:
Windows confuses iPod with network drive or hard drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear

I've had this problem and you have to hook up the images to the songs before you sync it to your ipod. Think its some Itunes 7 issue

  • One song is showing up in itunes but not on my iPod?

One of my songs that I added is showing up in iTunes and I think when I synced my iPod before the song showed up. But later on, when I synced my iPod, a notification showed up saying that "this song "song name here" will not sync because it won't play in my iPod". I hastily read the notification so I am not exactly sure what it said, but the song does work in iTunes and everything, like there is nothing wrong with it. But, how do I get it onto my iPod? I've tried a bunch of things, but nothing seems to work.

    i have the same issue.
i had songs on my iphone. I had to turn off music match & icloud & manually sync with iTunes which removed the songs with my iphone.
But when i go to iTunes, slect my device, and go to music, all my deleted items are there. Some with the ! and some with the sync symbol.
I even went to my iPhone, & deleted the album and re-download from iCloud. Same thing happens.

  • Song shows up in playlist on iTunes, but not on the iPod Touch

So I bought a song from iTunes on my iPod Touch, and so it shows up on the "Purchased" playlist, and I can listen to it. So, I sync up to my PC (or my wife's MacBook Pro, doesn't matter) and using iTunes, I add the song to a playlist of my current favorites. I then sync the iPod. In iTunes, it shows the song as part of the playlist, and shows that there are 24 songs in it. But when I unhook the iPod and look at that exact same playlist, the new song does not show up, and it says that there are 23 songs in the playlist.
I have already tried deleting the playlist, creating a whole new one, and I can put any song I want in there, except for this one. ??? Anyone heard of this before?

If the song is in iTunes, and it is in a playlist that you auto-sync your Touch to, then the only things that might cause this problem are:
1- Is this new song un-checked in iTunes? If your Touch is set to sync only checked items that would prevent it from syncing. If that's the case, just enable the checkmark next to the new song and re-sync.
2- Is this playlist a smart playlist that is forced to be limited in size? If so, there is a bug with the 3.1.x OS such that smart playlists that are limited in size will have different contents (and sorted differently) when you compare the playlist on iTunes vs. on the Touch. The solution in this case is to disable Live Updating in the smart playlist definition, then the two versions of the playlist will agree.
3- Is the new song tagged as "Skip when Shuffling"? If so, and if your Touch is in shuffle mode, then the song count in the playlist will not include songs that are designated to be skipped.
See if any of those three things are what is going on. If not, then perhaps you need to reset or restore your Touch, but I doubt that.

  • Podcasts showing up in iTunes, but not in the podcasts on ipod! HELP!

I backed up my iTunes library onto CDs before getting a new computer. When I bought the new computer, I put all of the CDs onto it, and then began to use my ipod on the new computer. Ever since then, podcasts will download into the correct category in iTunes, but when I sync my iPod and then diconnect it, the podcasts category on my ipod is empty. I can find some of the podcasts by looking through the artists, but it's hit and miss. What can I do to make the podcasts download into the right category on my ipod? I'm totally frustrated.

With your iPod connected, select it in the left-hand side of iTunes and then click the Podcasts tab. Make sure it is set to sync the appropriate podcast episodes.

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

How do I redeem coins I purchased for Bejeweled Blitz?  The purchase shows up on iTunes, but not on the app.

It sounds like you might have broken links to your content. Either repair these by putting the files you've recovered where iTunes expects to find them or delete the broken entries then go to iTunes Store > Purchased > Music > Not on This Computer, and click the download links.
If you have an Apple device see also Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • Album art is showing in itunes but not on my ipod

I have a new 60GB ipod video and am having a problem with album artwork. It shows in all the right windows in itunes but not on the ipod itself.
The problem is affecting random songs (singles and odd album tracks) and is not as a result of any software updates.
I have tried unchecking and rechecking the 'display album art' option in preferences, deleting and reinserting the covers and even deleting and reimporting the affected songs from scratch. So far nothing has worked and I don't know what else to do!
    Any suggestions?
Apple iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   ipod 60GB with video

Thanks but still no luck I'm afraid.
To update: I have been using itunes 6 from the outset and have always manually updated the ipod - it has never even been switched to automatic as I changed this at the start (advice from a friend). File formats for the affected tracks are all either AIFF or Apple Lossless - same as all the unaffected tracks.
The even stranger thing is that artwork for some albums, where all the tracks were imported manually at the same time, shows for some tracks on the ipod and not others. The artwork does, however, show for all of the tracks on the ipod when viewed through itunes!

  • Voice Memos show up in iTunes but not on iPhone 4

When I plug my iphone into my MBP, I can see all my Voice Memos in the list of things on my device in iTunes. And, I have a Voice Memos playlist in iTunes that appears to be complete.
However, in the Voice Memos app on my phone, I only have one memo, and the playlist doesn't show up at all in my Music app. Based on what I'm seeing in iTunes, the voice memos are there on my phone somewhere, but I can't find them, and I can't figure how to move the playlist from itunes back onto my phone.
I do use iMatch, and it looks like the Voice Memos playlist doesn't sync with iMatch. That may be part of the problem. But, I don't want to lose some of these memos - precious moments from the lives of my children. Help!

    Hi Itarbox,
I've been experiencing about the same issue : I had a list of Voices Memos shown in iTunes that didn't appeared on my iPhone 4S. Here is what I did to solve the problem :
I strongly suggest you perform a backup before doing this, just in case.
1st : Get back those "lost" Voices Memos from the backup file
I've downloaded "iBackup Bot for iTunes", open the last backup, select the files I want to get back and "export" them to a local folder. Those are mp4 files that can easily be opened with iTunes or Media Player.
this is the tricky part, which took me about 4-5 hours of painful research, trial and error :
2nd : Get rid of the "erroneous" files that still appear within iTunes, but not on the iPhone
I've downloaded "iExplorer", opened it with my iPhone plugged in (it reads the iPhone database). Then, I right clicked on the folder iPhone > Media > Recordings and deleted the whole folder. The software warns that this move is irreversible, click ok. Now close iExplorer, unplug the iPhone and open iTunes. When iTunes is loaded, plug in the iPhone and sync. The erroneous files are now gone!
    Hope this helps!

  • How do i sync an audio book that i purchased in Itunes to my Iphone? It shows up in Itunes but not on my Iphone podcasts., How do i sync an audio book that i purchased in Itunes to my Iphone? It shows up in Itunes but not on my Iphone podcasts.

How do i sync an audio book that i purchased in Itunes to my Iphone? It shows up in Itunes but not on my Iphone podcasts., How do i sync an audio book that i purchased in Itunes to my Iphone? It shows up in Itunes but not on my Iphone podcasts.

If it's an Audiobook, then it's probably in the Audiobook section of your iPhone. Have you set your iTunes to Sync Audiobooks with your iPhone?
Alternatively, if the Audiobook was imported into your iTunes Library as as Music, then it's going to be in the Music section of your iPhone. If so, then it will be in the Music section of your iTunes Library. To move it to the Audiobooks section, select it in the Library and choose File/Get Info/Options>Media Kind where you can change it.
You can change it to a Podcast, but since something is only a Podcast if it is delivered to your iTunes as a Podcast download (which is a process for delivering files without you having to go and find them), then your audiobook is not a Podcast and you may forget (in the future) how you obtained the book in the first place

  • Music video plays in itunes but not on ipod

    hi
like my subject line states, i transferred a whole bunch of music videos off of dvd into mp4 format using videora.
they play in itunes but not on my ipod.
i transferred about 400 or so at the same time to ipod do you think that's why most of them won't play ?
should i do it one by one ?
    thanks.

it's more than just the mp4 format. They need to be encoded correctly with the right dimensions and other attributes as well. I don't bother with this sort of thing right now. If there is anyone who has these specs, just post them here. Otherwise, you can always google them or search these boards for the proper format/size/encoding.
