Music skipping while playing

Hey all. For some reason when I play my MP3's through iTunes they seem to be skipping, like a scratched CD almost. All the songs are ones I bought through iTunes so I know it's not that. Any ideas?

Hello ultron16,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at this:
iPhone and iPod touch: Songs or other audio content are skipped during playback

You may want to delete the songs that are skipping and redownload them.
Best of luck,

  • Music has TINY SKIPS while playing on my mac

Anyone know why the music has these little "click" skips while playing?  I'm playing on a mac pro with Yosemite and hard wired high speed 150 Mbs connection.  It's like the music has these tiny fast interruptions in it when playing.  It seems to have happened only recently.  Perhaps this is spotify encouraging me to leave for Apple's new service?

    Is app nap enabled? https://community.spotify.com/t5/Help-Desktop-Linux-Mac-Windows/App-Nap-and-OSX-10-10-3/m-p/1160650

  • Export QuickTimes freeze and skip while playing back

I’m new to Motion, and growing concerned. I’ve purchased and learned Motion for a specific job. I’ve built some very cool elements with many layers. I’ve grown accustom to the slow performance, skipping etc. while working on the project. That’s ok.
What concerns me is exporting. When exporting Draft or Best versions, most all the time the movies freeze or skip while playing back, either in QuickTime or Final Cut Pro
When exporting I select Export, as QuickTime Movie, using current project settings
    I’m using Motion 3.02-HDV 1080-60i project, 10 seconds long
    4x 2.5 Ghz G5
    5 GB Ram
I would appreciate and advice or tricks to be able to export a decent version of what I’ve built.
    Thanks!

    Andy, thanks for your help.
I have 30 gigs available on the hardrive. The file exports are usually less than a gig. I have a GeForce 6600 card.
When I select export setting from “current project settings” it uses the Animation codec and plays with freezes and skips. But with in that video that does play well, it plays very clean and clear.
When I change the export to 1080i60 at best quality, I’m guessing it uses the HDV codec? It does play back with out the skips and freezes. But it looks like **** with horizontal lines in titles stripes etc.
Is there a way to make the 1080i60 video playback clean?
    Thanks!

  • Music Skipping while onl

I have been trying to research this problem. I have the Dell factory-installed SB Li've! soundcard, with quadraphonic analog speakers, and a subwoofer. But when I am online, if I play music (iTunes, Winamp, Windows Media, etc) the music skips like an old LP, usually when the cache updates. I have tried updating drivers, to no avail. I swapped the network card to another PCI slot (moved it further away from the sound card), also to no avail. Games do not do this, video does not skip - just music. Does not matter if it's MP3, wav, AAC, or any other format. It's not the music files, as when they're played on another computer, or burned to CD, or transferred to the iPod, they're fine. If I disable the LAN, music plays FINE. What gives?
    Thanks for any help
    mm

Dell says it's the card, did I upgrade firmware/drivers (yes). I have added a secondary IDE controller card (for 2nd HD and Zip dri've), a firewire card for iPod and video camera, replaced the video card to nVidia Gforce FX 5500 8x AGP for dual monitor support (which works beautifully, btw..) Upgraded RAM memory to GB. The symptoms were present when I took this machine out of the box, and have not gotten better or worse with the additional hardware. It's a dell dimension 8200, .7 GHz, 400MHz FSB. Win XP SP2. Maybe you have some ideas?
    thx

  • Songs are skipping while playing songs

Ipod Nano 6th generation.Any Idea what would cause songs to sip while playing ? I mean like a vinyl record or a dirty CD.

If you ripped them from a CD onto your computer, the CD could have had scratches on it. Try playing one section of the song, and if the glitches happen at the same place in the music every time, the CD was your problem.

  • Can I disable games sounds/music and play from my music list while playing games?

Can I disable games sounds/music and play music while playing games?

Yes that is possible. All you have to do is go into the sound setting of the game and turn it off from there. Then you go into your music and play which ever song you want to play

  • Music Skips when playing an album in iPhoto

FROM A PREVIOUS POSTED THAT WENT UNANSWERED: I am using iPhoto 08 to do some slideshows...for a while now, the music keeps skipping! And this is getting on my nerve really...can anybody help me out?
I don't think it's the RAM (Just upgraded to 2GIG DDRAM) as it does it with small slideshow as well.
My iPhoto is uptodated to the last version.
I have tried using the Utility Disc Repair and deleting the com.iphoto.plist file or something like that...and it still keeps skipping.
I just bought Leopard and ILIFE 08 and this is when the skipping began. PLEASE help me work this out. Thanks!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. How much free space do you have on your HD?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Nano skipping problem solved? (songs skipping while playing)

Well, not "solved" per se, but there does seem to be some concensus on the cause of these skips...
True, the nano is solid-state storage, and will not skip due to the same root causes that hard drive models might skip.
HOWEVER, that does not mean that the nano does not skip due to other reasons.
People on this forum, as well as members of iLounge have reported skipping problems. Concensus is that it is the nano's incompatibility with LAME encoded MP3s (some say that it's only VBR, yet some say it is also with CBR tracks).
The symptoms are tracks that skip on the nano, but play perfectly fine in iTunes (or any other player for that matter). I've heard that the mini also has this problem, but I cannot confirm... I can confirm that it happens often on my nano...
I have a very large collection of LAME encoded MP3s, so re-encoding is not a reasonable option...
If you are experiencing these issues, please report them to Apple... We need a firmware fix for this...
Question: Does anyone know if Apple is already aware of this issue, and plans to fix it in the next firmware update?

If it's skipping in iTunes and your iPod, then it is likely you have a bad file...
While there is probably a way of knowing what encoder was used to encode a file, I don't know that off hand...
I know my files are all LAME encoded because I ripped them using LAME...

  • MUSIC SKIPPING OR PLAYING TOO FAST WHEN PAIRED WITH A BLUETOOTH SPEAKER?

    Hi
I am writing to help others with this problem - there seem to be a number of posts about this, which have not been resolved.
I have just bought a Veho bluetooth speaker, which pairs and works perfectly with my brother's phone.  However, although it does pair with my iPhone 4S, when I playback any music from my library, it sounds like a chipmunk is singing - it plays far too quickly and sometimes skips large parts of the song.
This is a firmware issue but can easily be solved by downloading the free app 'TuneMob' from the store (it is free).  You can simply add albums from your library to its interface and it plays them perfectly through any speaker, irrespective of which OS you have installed.  I hope this helps you!

Try resetting the PMU/SMU and PRAM/NVRAM. You'd need to identify the mode of resetting depending on the model of your G5 iMac. The Apple support sites that would help you for this are –

  • Skipping while playing

I am using Zen Touch 20 GB, I have more than 900 songs. When I am playing a list of songs, quite often I am facing a problem, that is the creative player skips the current song in between and plays the next song in the list. It is not only occurring to any particluar song/mp3. It is very random and I don't know how to resolve this problem. I am sure that the mp3 file is good & some times it plays fully.
    Please help, Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Ragunath

    Hello Catherina,
    Thanks for your reply,
I purchased my player March 2005 in France, and I think so far there is no need to upgrade the
firmware.Usually, I have the play mode as Shuffe/Random. It skips the current track & plays the very
    next track in the list.
What will be the impact on "Clean Up" operation?. Will it result in any data/track lost?.
I have very important data (about 6 GB) in data files segment & I don't want to loose any mp3 files.
Please suggest me, whether I can go ahead doing this.
NOTE: I am from Chennai(Madras) INDIA, and I don't have any Technical/Product support or service
centers here for Zen Touch. Please suggest me what to do?.

  • Airtunes - music cuts or skips during play

Just installed the upgrade to 7,32 (6) and my music skips when playing on remote speakers (perhaps on Mac too, but haven't tried that yet. Really random skips - some songs only, sometimes often, sometimes not.
Library is on LaCie external drive. Set-up worked fine with previous versions.
    Thanks

I also have this problem. It is infrequent, and solving it is inconsistent. sometimes simply restarting itunes is enough, sometimes a computer restart, router restart or force quitting itunes is required to stop the skipping.
It's making my wireless music listening experience less than enjoyable.
I am streaming my music to a airport express connected to an apple ipod hi-fi from a lacie firewire 400 7200rpm hard drive. through itunes obviously. and yes, i have set my buffer to large.
thank you for any suggestions you may have for me, ben
